Ordered for delivery via Ubereats on 11/25/25 the following: a "2 for 1" Special- 2 Hard Shell Tacos with rice, beans and a small salad (Ranch Dressing- would've preferred Thousand Island Dressing but they don't carry it- only Ranch or Avocado dressing. I haven't personally experienced the in store dining ambiance but have friends who have. As far as the meals- they were of good portion size along with being tasty- I can tell that- Rudy the proprietor of this business- knows how to prepare and present good food along with providing great customer service to his diners. read more

I order chilaquiles with sunny side up eggs which clearly are not secondly the hash browns/potatoes were raw cold and hard to eat thirdly the chilaquiles tasted like they just had been sitting for a while I contacted the restaurant which I spoke to the owner Rudy which was rude hostile and didn't even offer to hear my experience at his restaurant he prefer to decline my experience and say they have been making chilaquiles with eggs/potatoes all day and no one has called and complained, Rudy being the restaurant owner is very unprofessional and unpleasant to talk to I would not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant unless you want a stomach ache. read more

The food is phenomenal. The quality of each dish is amazing. It's a very special place. They don't put the same "red sauce" on everything and call it a different name. I've eaten here once before a while back... I went again last week and got the chile colorado al carte as I'm watching my carbs. Not my favorite that I've had but it was good. Next time I will probably try the chili verde and eventually get some tacos too. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews because I've supported this place for years, but lately the quality has gone downhill. Today the ketchup tasted spoiled, my over-easy eggs came out over hard, the fries were extremely burnt, and the steak was mostly fat with almost no meat. After giving this place multiple chances, I'm honestly very disappointed. Management seriously needs to step up and fix the food quality. read more

I love the inside space and how it's decorated. It's full of culture, and I love the paintings and murals! It is only one woman taking orders and answering the phone so be patient!! She's amazing and I really appreciated how much she attends to all her tables. I got the chicken taquitos without sour cream. It came with salad, rice, beans, and guac. So my ideal burrito spot in carson, didn't offer doordash. But I found this substitute this morning . I ordered a basic egg, potato, bacon and cheese burrito. I was sadly disappointed because there was no salt or pepper to bring any of it to life! The potatoes weren't diced, it was huge, slices in the burrito. And the location didn't follow the request of put salsa on the side. Actually, I received NO salsa inside the bag from both burritos ordered. My next day off I will just make the drive to Carson and get the burrito I was initially craving! Thanks but no thanks Maya Mexican Restaurant. This place is off the beat and path but a good spot. Ordered food ahead of time and the food was served on the table ready for our group of 4, excellent service by Irma! I had beef machaca with eggs, potato and beans, very tasty! Unfortunately my machaca had jalapeños, so I was struggling to eat it. The california burrito was one of the least favorite dishes of mine from here. I ordered it and received a burrito with big chunks of carne. The meat is not chopped up into bits for it to be distributed evenly. I also asked for no sauce and they still put sauce in my burrito. I'm gonna give it a honest review and give the burrito a 5/10. read more

Just got back from a 3 day cruise. This was the only restaurant open at the time of disembarkation. Food was amazing! Real homemade flavor fed my soul. I had the Huevos Rancheros with a side of beans and potatoes. Also just an observation because it did not take from the quality of the food or service, be patient because there is only one lady doing it all besides the cook. Glad we stopped here. Food was authentically delicious!! We live in San Diego and nothing here compares (that we've tried) to Maya. We just may take a trip back there cause the food was that good! read more

I had to write another one. We got the chorizo and egg burrito the other day and added beans. OH MY GOD. Do you n ow how hard it is to find good beans out here? It's ridiculous. Let alone just good Mexican food period these days. This has skyrocketed to our favorite place. Everytime we go pick up the atmosphere is so inviting and they're so sweet. The restaurant is ALWAYS clean and smelling good. Service is awesome, A1. We have yet to eat inside but just ordering take out they're amazing, I can't wait to sit down and have a date night there! The food is just delicious. Do yourself a favor and take a trip to Wilmington if you're not local and enjoy! read more

The lies on Google review and yelp really irritated me I went with the expectation of it being at least descent and the god honest truth it's the worst burrito I've ever encountered I sent it back an asked why was it only whole beans and like 4 pieces of meat , they took it back I guess an all they did was shove a couple more pieces of meat.. the taste of the meat taste like boiled beans and for a 20$ burrito I felt scammed , this place is anything but authentic like how can you not make a burrito smh save your money and go to a taco stand cause this place is 0/0 Maya California Burrito read more

Recently went there while I was in the area visiting the Wilmington Waterfront park. Parking is on the street and is pretty sketchy; in fact the I read on the internet that the very next morning a car was stolen right in front of the restaurant. Beware of that. May want to make sure not to go at peak busy time so you don't have to park too far away. The restaurant itself was clean and the waitress was very nice. We received chips and salsa, which were good. The ice tea was $4.95, which kind of surprised me. The food was excellent. I ordered a shrimp salad, but received a salmon salad instead. I just went with it, and it was delicious. read more

Called in an order for a Machaca burrito and it was flavorless , dry and expensive for a bean filled monstrosity. Dude at the counter was probably the owner and a bit rude. He got testy when I asked if there was salsa, his reply was it's All in the bag, but of course there was no salsa. Just some chips. I guess it's mostly for locals that work in the area read more

Super nice neighborhood Mexican restaurant in Wilmington, ca. enchiladas, giant burritos, chicken salads and menudo! If you are gonna go here ... go during the day. It's in a tougher part of town so keep your head on a swivel and stick to lunch. The ladies working the front are awesome, very attentive and always smiling. Nothing too special to report but the experience is pleasant and affordable. Great service, good food. What more do you need. read more

THE. BEST. HIDDEN. JEM It gets busy so come early to beat the breakfast or lunch rush. Menudo is to die for. Chilaquiles are great! The food and service is slow because it's usually one waitress the times I have been in. Please be patient and understanding. Another awesome YELP find!!! First let me say, by the outside it doesn't look like very much, but go inside and it's a very cute, clean inviting restaurant. They have maybe 8-10 tables (which were completely taken by the time we left this am). Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I could not decide what to order and asked for her opinion and boy was she right with her suggestion!!! Everything about this spot was great, the atmosphere, staff, chips and salsa, chillaquiles with red sauce and carne, chorizo and eggs and the machaca!!! Before her food was ready, she received an emergency call and had to leave immediately. That's the reality of being a first responder--when a call comes in, you leave immediately, no time to wait for your meal. Before leaving, she politely asked the cashier to cancel the order and refund her card. Instead of showing understanding or offering assistance, the cashier was dismissive and unhelpful. After completing the call, my daughter contacted the restaurant, apologized for the inconvenience, and again requested a refund. She was initially told that the receipt had been thrown away. Later, the receipt was apparently found, but she was then informed that if she wanted a refund--or even the food she had paid for--she would have to return to the location in person. The problem is that she lives more than an hour away and was only in the area because she was working. I called the following day in an attempt to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, I was met with the same attitude. The employee refused to provide her name, refused to provide a manager's name, and refused to provide any contact information for someone who could address the complaint. To be clear, this is not about the cost of a meal. Had the employee been courteous, professional, or even remotely helpful, we likely would have let the matter go. Emergencies happen. Schedules change. We understand that. What prompted this review was not the lost food or the refund itself--it was the employee's rude attitude, lack of professionalism, and complete unwillingness to help resolve a simple customer service issue. I will also acknowledge that by the end of my phone call, I became frustrated and was not as polite as I should have been. I regret that. However, that frustration came only after repeated attempts to handle the situation respectfully and being met with rudeness and resistance at every turn. A business can recover from a mistake. What it cannot afford is employees who treat customers with contempt and then refuse to provide any way to contact management when a legitimate concern is raised. Management should be aware that this employee's behavior reflects poorly on the entire business. If this is how customers are treated when they encounter an unexpected emergency, then potential customers deserve to know before choosing to spend their money here.

If I had the tiniest critique, I would say to add a tiny bit more salt to them, but I have a theory why they may go scant on it, and I respect that. Third, the beans and rice: The beans were very simple, but simply good. It takes a lot of guts to make and serve simple pinto beans boiled with salt. I know! What a concept! Maya restaurant has a two taco plate with rice and beans. For the tacos I chose to have shrimp. And they were excellent. Not over or under cooked and the tacos were stacked. Lots of shrimp, two slices of avocado and sauce inside of a flavored up corn tortilla. The rice and beans were also great along with the chips and salsa.
