Mariscos Rosarito has been a favorite of my family's for years. When I was younger, my mom would always stop by after work to pick up their shrimp cocktail, so it's a nostalgic spot for me. Mariscos Rosarito - a casual Mexican seafood restaurant/deli that serves up delicious ceviches and cocktails. It was located on our way back from Palos Verdes to Long Beach, so stopped in to check it out. It is located in a small strip mall with limited parking, so my wife waited with the car running while I ran in. The first thing one notices is the deli selection of refrigerated ceviches. It is similar to what one can get at the deli section of a Mexican supermarket, including being able to order by the pound. One can get in/out quickly if one just orders what is available in the deli counter. There is also a decent size dining room, where one can order and eat the standard mariscos dishes that the area is well known for. They do accept credit card, and one pound of ceviche de pulpo and half pound of ceviche de camaron cost under $20. It came with 3 orders of tostadas, limes, and hot sauce (thinking half a pound is considered a serving so my order was meant for 3 people). It was packaged well for easy carry out. Brought it home, and it was delicious. The thing I most appreciated was the value: how much seafood was in the serving. Octopus has gotten really expensive, and the amount of meat they gave (vs mostly the vegetables and liquid that the Mexican supermarkets seem to give now) was very generous. This included the shrimp ceviche as well. Both used the lime vegetable ceviche mix that tastes pretty similar to others that I have had. It's always a pleasure to find a new place that serves your favorite dishes but with more value AND is close enough to stop-in without driving too far. This is the go to place for seafood like ceviche, cocteles, chalupas, dorados. I have been to many places around the South Bay... and I swear... this is the place to put on your bucket list. I am Mexican, but I don't eat mariscos. My wife is Chinese and she loves them. From hole in the wall places in El Monte and Baldwin Park, to the Mercado in east Los, to Superior and Northgate markets. She loves them all. So when we heard about this place close by she had to try it immediately. The restaurant is located in a small older strip mall in Wilmington. Nothing fancy, but we were there for the food. The place itself was very plain, with a few tables and minimal decor. The woman at the counter was very friendly and bilingual, answering my wife's questions with a genuine smile. We ended up ordering the 7 mares soup (small), some type of ceviche, and a shrimp quesadilla (for tomorrow's lunch, supposedly). Well, by the time we got home, she had started on the ceviche. At home she ate half of the quesadilla (totally loaded with cheese and tons of shrimp) and all of the mixed seafood soup. She then took a nap on the couch while wearing a huge, satisfied smile. We always ask for not too spicy since the mild is still pretty spicy sometimes. They come with fries and a salad which go really well with the shrimp. Wow, this place was good! My wife and I just spent a couple of hours hiking in PV, and had a hankering for some tacos. Everything we got was delicious. If you're in the area you need to go here! We had just finished a cruise in Long Beach and wanted some bomb seafood. Found this spot on yelp and the pictures looked good. They had so much fresh seafood to choose from and if your eyes were closed you would have no idea. Sometimes spots that sell seafood especially grocery stores have a fishy smell but not this spot. We initially wanted to grab mariscos at the San Pedro Fish Market BUT we didn't realize the place was under renovations and all they had was a small and overpacked location serving mariscos out of food trucks SO we opted for an alternative instead. We found this little gem about 3 miles away and my goodness was it worth it! The location itself is in a small shopping plaza but even though it was small, parking wasn't an issue. The restaurant is a nice size and very clean. Service was also great - you can tell they really care about their clientele. We grabbed two mojarras, and marinero/pulpo ceviche - the food was absolutely amazing and we only paid $32 for everything. If we had gone to the the fish market we would've paid anywhere from $70 and up. Overall we were super happy and FULL - we can't wait to come back and try their tacos soon! read more

We were looking for some seafood last night and decided to give this place a try. It was delicious and we are glad we picked it. I had the Marineros burrito that was stuffed with shrimp, squid, octopus, etc. Everything was cooked perfectly and the cilantro, tomato, and avocado inside helped make this item a great one. We also tried the shrimp tostadas that were just as good. They come loaded with shrimp and not like some places that seem to count how many they give you. Lunch spot highlight. I've never been to a Rosarito style seafood joint, bit this one was very clean and good! The tortillas were actually good! The seafood was fresh and cooked on a flat top instead of deep fried (a welcomed change) The flavors were clean and didn't over power the seafood. I had three tacos: The octopus was very well seasoned, but a bit chewy for my taste. The fish taco was my favorite, very flavorful and perfection with a squirt of lime. The shrimp taco was also very good, but I feel like it lacked something... a sear, for starters, would have been nice, and perhaps more seasoning? Don't be fooled by the not so clean area and small shopping center this place is located in, this mariscos spot is legit. Horrible parking but you can usually find parking on the side street if the lot is full. Nothing to crazy on appearances but man do they make some decent ceviche and they have alot of variety to choose from. The campechana was normal, average, nothing too noteworthy. The tacos were bomb though! The octopus/shrimp were cooked well. The octopus was tender. The sauce they put on top was delish. The food took a while to come out, but they were pretty busy, so it was understandable. They were also a bit unorganized. While we waited for our food, a server came out to ask what we ordered. It seemed like you could say anything, and they would bring it to you. This place felt like if you come here often and they know you, they will take care of you.
