We hosted a rehearsal dinner at Red's Table, which provided a beautiful outdoor option in case of rain for a May event. With no rain, we and our guests enjoyed a lovely lakeside setting and great crowd-pleasing food. Even if it had rained, the space has a permanent roof that would have protected us. The selection of food and drinks made it easy for everyone to enjoy the setting, even those with food allergies. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. When I'm in town I frequently drop in for soup or salad and wifi. Or meet friends for lunch for a more substantial meal. Vegetarian and Pescatarian friendly, but the Carnivores seem to enjoy it, too. Desserts are delicious without being fussy. Extra points for a consistently chill staff. read more

We had a reservation for my friends bridal shower. Their outdoor seatings are amazing. It's overlooking the lake and very scenic. Service was great, we did not have any problems placing orders, thought food and drinks ordered came out relatively fast and they were very accommodating in decorating the place too. We had lots of balloons and other decorations which they didn't mind having and I was certainly impressed with overall experience. We ended up not taking the tables reserved out in the covered patio bc it was too crowded and we couldn't rent the whole place as the minimum required was a bit more expensive than restaurants in Reston town center and I wish it was a bit smaller otherwise I would hold more events there. read more

My son picked this restaurant for his birthday since it was close to his apartment in Reston. We were very excited to celebrate there since he was looking forward to the food in this new restaurant. The decor is very modern and comfy inside. The outside patio seating is just as good as the inside. The elevated platform offers a charming view of the beautiful lake. We didn't make any reservation, and the inside was all booked up. The receptionist said we could get a table sooner if we chose to sit outside, not knowing dining outside actually would be a better option. The weather in the evening was gorgeous. Here comes the food part. We first ordered a dozen oysters as an appetizer since we all loved them. We picked the white stone oysters. When they arrived at the table on a nice ice tray, we were a bit disappointed. Most of them looked okay. They were all small oysters though. But a couple of them didn't look very pleasing to the eye. We didn't really see the nice little puffy oysters, but they were flat and we saw just flatten oysters over the shells. They just didn't look appetizing at all. We talked to the server, and he was very kind indeed to take them back to the kitchen, only to come out and say they were all nice and fresh. Well, what could we do? Since he said they were fresh, we ate them. But I didn't really get the satisfying taste of delicious oysters for those oysters. The other good ones were okay. We had oysters many times before. But this time we had quite a different experience. Having said that, I have to say the cocktail sauces that came with the oysters were wonderful If you want to take a look at the oysters, see the picture I took. Look at the oyster at the 3 - 4 o'clock position. Looked like someone has already eaten it before it got to the table. We also ordered a dry-aged beef hamburger and fried chicken. The hamburger beef was thick and very tasty. It was cooked to what we liked it to be. The grilled unions added more flavor to the beef. But the bun could be better. A bit dry though. One strange thing is I didn't see lettuce or tomatoes in the hamburger. We're from Texas. Maybe this is the way people have hamburgers here in Virginia. The fried chicken was so-so. Nicely fried to golden brown. It looked quite appetizing. But the meat didn't look very juicy at all even though the taste was good. But the braised kale was wonderful. Overall, the dining experience was below our expectations. It wasn't bad, but we all thought it would be better We always love to support businesses in our local community. Went to Red's Table last night for a late dinner (around 8:15pm) and we were seated on the outdoor patio. The views of the lake are gorgeous and thankfully, because it was a chilly night, the patio was enclosed and the heaters were on- fantastic setting and ambiance! We ordered the goat cheese fritters to start (they were to DIE for!) and I got the Lamb Bolognese for dinner. The Lamb Bolognese was delicious and I would definitely go back to try it again! We also got a side of mac n' cheese for the table that was very good, but not your traditional mac n' cheese- it had more of a creamy/soupy sauce than cheese. We also had a nice bottle of Merlot and enjoyed the views. Overall, great experience at Red's Table and I am looking forward to returning. read more

We just moved to the area, so we were looking for a spot to eat. Starting with the with how beautiful the restaurant is and the amazing lake views was just what we needed to relax after so many boxes and heavy lifting. We went for brunch on Easter, but we looked terrible. Just yoga pantsand t-shirtwith tired faces. We ordered apps and entrees. The duck rolls were delicious, and the cheese balls , not enough . Their home fries are one of the best ones I've had in a while. Hollandaise sauce , was spot on perfect. Service was friendly. Red's Table is quite the hidden gem! It is tucked unassumingly at the end of the strip of establishments in Reston's South Lakes Shopping Center, next to the ABC store, and has a back enclosed patio overlooking the lake behind the shopping center. Being that it is in a shopping center, note that the parking is limited/tricky. Back in November, my best friend and I decided to try "the new place in Reston", since she works close to the shopping center and also to avoid the crazy amounts of people and cars at the Town Center (always a drag- doesn't matter the day of the week). She went with a glass of wine and I tried one of the seasonal cocktails (pictured). Most recently, we returned on a very stormy night for our version of Wednesday night Happy Hour and split the homemade potato chips, which were divine and served with some sort of French Onion dip. Probably not the healthiest option but that's irrelevant. I am very much a fan of their drinks menu and the fact that it changes seasonally. On both occasions, our waiters (both male) were friendly, attentive- but gave us space when needed, and brought out our drinks in a timely and efficient manner (I usually care more about that than how quickly the apps arrive, depending on my level of hunger, of course!) Tip: both visits, we've made reservations ahead of time via their website; it hasn't been overly crowded on a Wednesday night but I would recommend reservations all the same. While their appetizer/starter menu is rather limited at this point, I find Red's Table to be a location that has much potential to become even better than they already are. The only reason this place has one star is because it has a nice view of the lake and I enjoyed my drink. I had a terrible experience when I visited with a friend of mine. It left me utterly embarrassed as this was her first time visiting me in my new neighborhood. Our server was a tall lanky and older white male who reminded us of Lurch from Adam's Family. I do not remember his name unfortunately. He lacked all social skills and would do better not interacting with customers. He was nice to my friend, a white woman but very dismissive to me, a black woman. He would take her order with attention to detail and then still looking at her, would say "and you." This confused me because he never made eye contact with me. So I said huh, and he said I'll be back and walked away. My friend and I began to talk about how rude he was and she asked if I wanted to leave. We were starving so I opted to stay (a mistake). When he came back, he again took her drink order and without turning to me again said what are you getting....I said the same as her and he said "there are other choices". I said no I'll have the drink she's having, he repeated that there were other choices and I repeated I want that drink. He walked off again. At this point, even my friend is agitated. So I flag down another server and ask for a new server because he is rude. They did not ask questions but did not seem surprised about this guy. I don't know if he got this job because he is related to someone but I strongly suggest this company consider another less involved position for him. I ordered the crab cake and did not like the taste or texture at all. It was loaded with fennel seeds and other filler. I paid over twenty bucks for a crab cake that lacked lump crab meat. It was awful, I couldn't even pick around it because there were so many. So in short, I endured terrible customer service, bad food, and left hungry. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place. I am disappointed that this is so close to home and now I have to eliminate it as a food option. read more

Do not recommend this restaurant if they are having a live band. Came here last Friday night for a birthday dinner. Atmosphere was nice, but once the band started it was extremely LOUD. ridiculously loud, could not even hear the person sitting next you talk without screaming in your ear. We politely at first asked our server if they could turn it down a bit but she turned nasty and got the manager. He was not friendly either, kept shrugging his shoulders saying "sorry, i don't know what you want me to do". Food was meh, had a nice prestation but that was about all, besides the onion rings, those were great. Inside is just too small for a band. read more

Updates: My baby shower was hosted at Red's. It was such a great experience for a very special occasion. We had the private dining space and it was perfect for our group of about 20-25 ladies. Red's allowed us to decorate as we please and had a small table set to the side for an art activity that we asked our guests to do. They were in constant communication from start to finish. We had a preset menu and guests were able to make their own selections. The menu had many yummy options. And they were able to work with our budget! My guests loved their dishes and the lakeside vibe at Reds. You're getting high quality service at a local, neighborhood restaurant. I would def recommend Red's for a private dining experience or special event.. or just a nice dinner out as well! read more

Wow! Delish! The service was amazing and the food was unforgettable. We started with the chicken liver pate and I am not a pate guy; but I wanted seconds. Then we had the beef tartar and the calamari. The tartar was incredible and the calamari had so much flavor and spice I could have ordered another and called it a night. However, we decided to try the chuck roast which floored all at our table! So tender and melt in your mouth. Very flavorful and savory. We finished the night with a brown sugar cheesecake which did not last very long on our table. The staff not only knew their stuff with ensuring a great experience but also offered personal recommendations on food choices. We have all been to restaurants where the staff push the specials but it is refreshing when they explain their favorite dish and why it's the best thing you will ever experience. Service here can be painfully slow and one time it was so slow that we considered leaving. We waited about 30 minutes before anyone would acknowledge us after we were seated. The complimentary cornbread and butter is a nice way to start the meal. However, the cornbread is a little bit too crumbly and will crumble into smithereens when trying to spread butter on it. The gem salad is a fairly large appetizer salad with fresh greens. The clam chowder was tasty and had good texture, but the pita crackers didn't quite match up. The chicken wings were good, but we didn't get that smokiness that was promised in its namesake. The steak was cooked perfectly to order, tender and juicy, but a bit bland. The sweet potato hash was very flavorful and a surprise. It's very nice to have a restaurant in the Reston area that is not part of a big box chain. The decor is nice. This is was our first time out at a restaurant since COVID and we felt completely comfortable with the measures they've taken to make sure all guests were safe. The food was amazing! We had the mussels and clam chowder as appetizers. I had the sea bass and my husband had the burger. The fish dish was the best seafood dish I've had in a long time. The location was great. The waiter was happy to offer samples of both red and white wine before ordering a glass -- the wine list is modest and priced accordingly (fair and tasty). The beer list is quite good for a place of this size ;-) The Clam Chowder was very simple but hearty and tasty. We also ordered a salad which was made from very fresh ingredients and tasted very good. The red wine braised chuck roast was really delicious. It was beautifully prepared, tasted exactly like comfort food should on a cold and damp night. What can I say? Good food, good drink, good service... A HIT ! ...And, the price is modest for the quality of the experience! A good local restaurant serving very good local sourced food that is fresh and prepared well! *** Please try this place out... My third time here; high time to write this review. The bartenders and Garden-to-Glass Cocktails are brilliant--fresh ingredients, well - conceived, delicious! Cure for the Common Cold and Beet Martini are amazing! Food is so good, I'm going to keep coming back until I've tried everything.. so far the Clam Chowder and Beef Tartare are favorites!! Our service wasn't the greatest, but that might have been because we were going to sit inside but then switched to outside when we saw availability. First of all, the low review is not due to the service or atmosphere, which were great. Additionally, the drink were good too. My friends had the strawberry mule and both loved it. I had a glass of Pinot Noir, which was nice. The problem we had was with the flavor of the food. It seemed like it would be unique and tasty, but everything was monotone. Several of us order the special that was described as BBQ salmon, deviled egg potato salad, and a micro green that tastes like popcorn. To start, the micro green tasted nothing like popcorn. It was like a useless garnish. The salmon was good, but we all agreed that it didn't go with the potato salad, which was also good. Overall, the dish was not very good as composed dish. It is unfortunate that this restaurant's food wasn't better. Maybe it will just be a cocktail type of spot in the future. read more

Locally-sourced ingredients...I'm all for it. We're starting to see the transition from farm to table much more in this area, and I'm happy to see the forward movement. The interior design of the restaurant has an industrial feel. Since there were 4 of us, we thought it'd be best to share everything in order to experience as many dishes as possible. We ordered the following: 1. Prosciutto, Chicken Liver Mousse, and Grayson Cheese: I could eat this by itself as meal. I actually had intended to order just this and the Gem Salad if I were to not share with the table. The Chicken Liver Mousse was to die for. It was simply delectable. So good, that even towards the end of the meal, I had taken another piece of bread for another spoonful of the mousse. And THEN...we had a little unforeseen situation with the mousse. Rob the manager was very pleasant, and he helped resolved the issue. 2. Smokey Chicken Wings (maple-sriracha): These were finger-lickin' good! There was the right balance of sweet and spiciness. 3. Salt Roasted Beet Root: I definitely did not eat beets like this growing up. Everyone should give this beet app a try. The feta complements the beets so well. 4. Baby Gem Salad: very simple salad with white anchovies. Light but packs a punch with the right amount of saltiness. All of the appetizers were awesome. Kind of went a bit downhill with the entrees unfortunately. 5. Clam and Castelvetrano Bucatini: The EVOO with the garlic and anchovy combo is what I usually do at home too. The bucatini itself was a bit disappointing. The texture of the bucatini showed signs of being over-cooked. All I could think of was spaghettios from childhood. I guess I'm comparing the bucatini to the likes of the plates from Fiola Mare or Osteria Morini. With that being said, I can see this dish being a popular one because of the flavor profile. 6. Buttermilk Fried Chicken-: just a tad bit soggy IMO; i wonder if the chicken is being fried in a cast-iron skillet or thrown into a fryer. A bit more seasoning, and I can see this dish being as popular as the one from Founding Farmers. 7. Bison Flank Steak (special of the evening): I was actually looking forward to this. Although I knew the steak was going to be lean, I was not expecting it to be so darn chewy. My dinner party couldn't finish it, but they all loved the sweet potato chips that came with it. The bison was quite bland and so was the potato puree. All in all, I think this place will do well in Reston. As a new establishment, they will work out the kinks and become a staple in the area. Finally got to try Red's for dinner with the extended family the other day. Nice looking restaurant and dramatically improved over the old Lakehouse restaurant so great job there. A little piece of downtown DC in Reston. We had a reservation for 9 and were seated quickly. The waiter was a bit on the young side and looked a bit nervous but did ok. We ordered the following: - buffalo wings in maple sriracha - quite tasty and very meaty. Sweet with a bit of kick. The celery was very tasty... - NY steak- very good - cioppino- the tomato base was very thick and not much of it. The seafood was grilled and had a nice smoky flavor to it. Have had better. -clam chowder- on the oily side and lighter than most NE clam chowders. -roasted acorn squash- feedback from my bro in law was it was ok. On the sweet side as opposed to savory. -kids tenders- good -kids steak- very good especially considering the price Overall, the general consensus was Red's was ok. Nice atmosphere and good looking restaurant but the food is average especially when considering the prices. May try again to get another perspective since it is so conveniently located. read more

The chef at Red's Table is a fraud. In my own kitchen I can make better cioppino than what I was served tonight at Red's Table. The dish they gave me was prepared by an amateur... can't even give it 1 star... it was terrible. My guest ordered the cassoulet. Bad choice. It looked to be about two cans worth of cannelini beans with a weak and stringy duck thigh/leg that had to have been cooked last month. Not the creamy dish it is supposed to be. The decor is awful, too. How about hanging drapes to cover the vintage 70's aluminum window framing? Install some carpets or rugs to keep the noise down, and I would suggest replacing the die-cut steel chairs with something warmer. Red's Table isn't going to make anyone forget the wonderful Lakeside Inn that preceeded in this space. Damn I miss Lakeside... read more

This was my first time here and will absolutley come back. The patio overlooking Lake Thoreau offers a relaxed ambiance and a great spot with an amazing view. We ordered the Goat Cheese Fritters along with a greens salad and the Chicken & Waffles. The Maple Sriracha is amazing and gives a nice kick. read more

Stopped in for brunch today. I had the Egg, Bacon & Cheese sandwich. Food was good, sitting on the deck was scenic and pleasant. The waitress was not as pleasant. It just took too long for any service as she was much more attentive to larger tables. There are too many other places to check out. Tried this place again and it was great. It was pretty good so def worth it. The onion rings were $2 off less than regular price. It was actually good for someone who's not the biggest fan of onion rings. It was more like onion strings and the onions were cooked. The fried batter actually stuck to the onion and did not separate. Overall, everything was good, but not amazing.
