Every time we go there is at least one item we ordered that isn't cooked correctly or is cold. This time it was my potatoes that were ice cold. I've always liked this place and usually leave happy, even though the portions aren't massive (which is fine by me if the quality is there). Unfortunately, this visit was a letdown. My chicken was small and extremely thin -- like paper-thin cutlet thin -- and it came out very dry and overcooked, with a burnt, almost charcoal-like taste. In the past, they've served a thicker, juicier piece that's flavorful and well-cooked, so this was a noticeable drop in quality. It's a cozy and welcoming café. I wasn't very hungry--I just stopped by to feed my baby and enjoy a cup of coffee. The pancakes are fluffy and not overly sweet, and the portion size is just right. Finally stopped by Red Truck Cafe in Plano after driving past it every day on my way to work. After a weekend of crazy snow in Collin Co., it felt like the perfect spot to start our day. We ordered the Migas with chorizo and the steak and eggs. The steak was tender but could've used a little more flavor. The Migas were ok, not bad, but nothing that stood out. What really made the experience was the service, polite, attentive, but not intrusive. Early in the morning, before my first sip of coffee, that's exactly what I appreciate. Overall, a decent spot for breakfast with friendly service, though the food could use a little more seasoning. read more

I've been to lunch here. Kinda a busy, there's a 5 minute wait on line. I ordered their Seafood Gumbo and Grilled Pork Chops. They're delicious. Serving is small for the price, didn't expect it. There are red trucks everywhere and they were playing bingo on one side of the restaurant. Unfortunately the food was very mediocre at most and the service was super slow, too. We got the chicken fried steak, chicken salad sandwich, liver & onions, and chocolate cream pie. The food was all just ok. Nothing was super memorable or amazing. It was more comparable to Denny's or IHOP at most I would say.. and we were hungry, too. The one good things was the broccoli casserole. It was really really good. I'm a big chicken fried steak fan. In fact I order it in any state in the US that I'm eating. The steak was well seasoned but not quite as crispy as I would like it next time I will order it extra crispy, but I can't deny this chicken fried steak is sometimes they don't have much flavor and this one is super well seasoned. Okra is a 10 out of 10 and their eggs are tasty and fresh iced tea is got good bite to it. I had the pleasure of having Casey serve me today. She is a doll. Both meals were a solid 4 stars. We went on a weekday for lunch and they still had quite a crowd. The restaurant is overly decorated for Christmas so it was very festive inside. We ordered the smothered steak with fried okra and French fries and the Shrimp and grits. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked well but the grits were lack luster. I have had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast here twice. Both times were great service and prices. The portions are large and price point is average. (Poor Richard's has become too rich for me). Red Truck has lots of options if you don't want breakfast-this time I enjoyed the delicious, big battered onion rings and grilled, blackened chicken sandwich. Meal was very good and onion rings were perfectly battered and tasty when dipped in a side of ranch. My mom enjoyed her crispy bacon, large, pancakes and eggs. The portions are large so we can never finish them all. The decor is cute-with a farm or cozy chic decor. I highly recommend it and like to take my mom and her girls out for delicious food and fun. One of my neighbors on ND mentioned this place, so we came here this morning. I haven't been here since it was Jenny's. It was packed with patrons. It has so much space. We were seated right away and assigned a server. She was very attentive. We ordered Migas and Italian omelette and coffee. I wanted to try their biscuits and gravy, so my server brought me couple biscuits and little thing of gravy which was perfect. I was so surprised how inexpensive our bill was. I left 25% tip and it still came to $38!!!! I'm used to spending $80 at Cindi's(I still love to go there, but not as often)or Pancake House($50), so this was a complete surprise. This is a very popular place for breakfast. I came with my friend at 9am on Saturday and it was already getting packed. Parking can be tight because it's a busy plaza since they do take large parties. They are family and kid friendly! There are a lot of regular customers which makes sense because the service was excellent and the food was DELICIOUS! We had an amazing server Kara who was so sweet to my friend and I, she made a personal connection with us and never left our coffee cups empty! I got the steak, eggs scrambled, hashbrowns, and a pancake. Listen yall those gingerbread pancakes are amazing! It's like having Christmas all year around. This place was right by my Chiropractor's office so I decided to pop in since my kids were hungry. Super cute divey/vibey place. My kids loved the red truck theme. Aesthetically it's super cool, full of military flags, and red trucks. I love me a patriotic place. Walking in there were two very young girls behind the counter. Not super friendly and playing on their cell phones. Once sat our waitress Casi, changed up the unwelcoming vibe from the hostesses. She was so pleasant and even brought coloring papers with crayons for the kids (I feel that should've been the hostess job). Our food came out fast, the kids split a kids pancake meal and we added two biscuits. The pancake was really dark but tasted ok. The kids ate it all up. The biscuits were their favorite; they were made well. I ordered the shrimp with cheese grits. Great portion size to price. You def need to add seasoning to the grits to make it really good. I love the seasoning salt they have on the table. All in all decently tasty food and great service with the waitstaff. And they have a ton of items to choose from for lunch and breakfast.
