When I walk into a restaurant and see a full house, it is an indication that the food is good. Sunday afternoon, I wanted to try a new restaurant for lunch. I am so glad my mom and I decided to eat here. The staff were so warm and hospitable. I ordered my food to go. Gus, the owner of the restaurant greeted me while I sat at the counter and waited for my food. He walked around to each table and spoke with the patrons. It seemed like we were all having lunch in his home and he wanted everyone to feel welcomed. Mom and I both had the strawberry waffles. They were so fluffy and delicious. My child and I ordered a kids' meal with waffles and bacon, along with French toast, a sausage patty, and chocolate milk. Unfortunately, the food quality was extremely disappointing. The chocolate milk was watery and tasted like it was made with bargain basement chocolate syrup. The French toast arrived heavily burned, to the point that I did not consider it safe to eat. The bacon was extremely dry and hard, almost like a rock. My child took a small bite of the sausage, gagged, and threw up. He said it was "bad". I was very concerned about the quality and freshness of the meat. I brought the issues to the staff's attention and explained that the French toast was badly burned and should not be served. The response I received was extremely rude: "That's the way we cook it. You don't have to come back again." When I explained what happened with the sausage, the response was essentially that my child throwing up was "his problem." I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and basic customer service. They refused to remake the food or remove the item from my bill. I explained that I was not willing to pay for food that was inedible, but they refused to accommodate us. Because we could not resolve the dispute, I called the police for assistance. The officer advised me to pay the bill, which I did under protest. I was disappointed with the outcome. I thought the police would see the burned food and throw up as evidence that the food wasn't worth paying for. Standing by the cashier, I also caught a glimpse of the kitchen, which appeared messy and raised concerns about cleanliness and sanitation. We have eaten French toast at many restaurants in Texas, and we have never been served anything this heavily burned. More disappointing than the food, however, was the extremely rude and dismissive treatment we received when we raised legitimate concerns. We left almost all of the both meals uneaten. This was, without a doubt, the worst restaurant experience I have had in Texas. They do not deserve your business. read more

We had such a fun Sunday brunch at Little Gus! The restaurant was lively and welcoming--and on our visit, more than half the tables seemed to be filled with people we knew from church, which made it feel especially cheerful. I had the gyro omelette and it was delicious--a fun twist on a breakfast favorite. Our waitress, BV (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly!), was attentive, warm, and genuinely hospitable. I just ordered online from Little Gus Cafe for the first time. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs, biscuit, gravy and two sausage patties. First of all, they packaged everything into one container. The biscuit and gravy should have been packaged alone since it was for pickup. Less mess, no soggy biscuit, and easier to season food as needed. Second, I did not get my two sausage patties, only the chicken fried steak. Very disappointed since I paid for it. Third, the flavor was lacking. The gravy was bland and the chicken fried steak appeared to be some sort of cheap substitute, because it was awful. The biscuit, pan fries and eggs were good! And the order was ready when it said it would be. When I came into pick up, the staff was just okay. Not rude, but not great either. Just going with the flow, which didn't make the place seem warm and welcoming. Not sure I would consider dinning in. The restaurant itself is small and simple. The vibes of this place is so comforting and nostalgic in that it's one of the old school mom & pop home cooking diner type spots. It looks like a true family-run business; they were so gracious. (An older Hispanic lady, I didn't catch her name) She was great with my kid and conversation. They had cereal on the menu so my kid was excited. I ordered the soup of the day, the gyro plate and the cabbage rolls. The soup was ok, 3/5. There was something too gritty in it for me. The gyro plate was a little underwhelming, the meat itself wasn't terrible tasting it just tasted packaged. And I was really sad it came with store bought pita. The cabbage rolls were actually good. Not what I was expecting, but good, would've asked for less cheese or no cheese at all. Price point for all our food was a tad high for what you got. But service was great. Because of their hours, they always seem to be closed or closing when I drive by. This time they were open. The coffee is strong and readily & happily refilled. This has been weighing on me for 3 days so I'm going to leave a review - Greeted warm and friendly, everyone smiling and engaging - sat at the bar - noticed ketchup bottles being refilled - nothing wrong with that at all. Saw the fountain and bottled beverages above - assumed the bottles were for take out - ordered a Diet Coke and I get a glass of ice and one of the bottles. Again - wish I'd been told bc now I have an exact amount I can drink vs included refills. Food comes and I have fries, nice and hot - squeeze Heinz ketchup onto the plate, dip the fry and something is off. Zero chance this is Heinz. I look up and see that these folks are refilling Heinz bottles with a brand I'd never heard of, never seen, started with a B, for sure bargain bin and for sure not Heinz! Why? Either serve Heinz ketchup and refill with Heinz ketchup or buy another brand and put it on your table. But don't be fraudulent! And now my mind goes to the display of the fountain and then getting a bottle. Just suspicious - what else are they pretending to serve or saying they serve but in reality give you an inferior product? The gyro meat was for sure the least expensive product they could find - pita was microwaved - just not quality. The fries were terrific - even as I just ate them with salt bc I couldn't with the dollar store ketchup. What a great experience. Arrived early and had some time while waiting for a new Josey Records to open in Plano with my son. Decided to get breakfast and found this gem. We both had the Gyro and Eggs and it was delicious. Served fast and eaten even quicker. My sons first time experimenting with lamb and not the last. Best part was meeting our sweet waitress Susie. Super upfront and knowledgeable, told us about Gus, how things are cooked, made suggestions, etc. I was with my boss and just randomly came across this spot. She's watching her weight, weight watchers etc, and is not afraid to ask questions on how things are prepared or what she wants. Our server (forgot her name) was very sweet and blunt- I appreciate that. Basically told us that her omelette is homemade, cooked in butter but said she'd ask the kitchen to go light on the butter and cheese. They did. It was only 9 in the morning but I was between the gyro and falafel. She said hands down gyro and I was in. I know most places never make their own gyro meat, they typically get it from a restaurant supply place, and I assume that's what they do here (maybe I'm wrong), but my sandwich was huge, fresh, lots of meat, crunchy veg and a good tzatziki. This is one of our favorite places to go for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. They save generous portions that won't break your wallet. The wait staff are friendly and very attentive. Gus himself is always there and will often go around saying hello to people and asking about their day. My favorites are their Grilled Cheese sandwich with a side of fries or their Chicken Fried Steak sandwich, if I'm in the mood for lunch. For breakfast I really like the scrambled eggs with bacon cooked crisp, but not brittle. (It's a fine balance, you know.). I've also had their French Toast multiple times. My husband typically gets their breakfast options because he likes his coffee. He likes their breakfast tacos, scrambled eggs with jalapeno sausage, and eggs over medium. If he's wanting lunch, he'll get a hot Corn Beef sandwich with a side of the Tomato Basil soup or their meat stacked Reuben sandwich. If you have a dog with you, there's a seating area outside where they will bring your pup a bowl of water. Support the local neighborhood restaurants and go check them out. My friend had GYRO AND EGGS Two eggs any style, gyro meat, cucumber sauce, pan fires and choice of bread. Served with homemade pan fries. I was going to order just the waffle and some breakfast sausage. The server suggested to get the breakfast plate which included half a waffle, 2 eggs and choice of breakfast meat. That's plenty for me. It was cost was cheaper. So much food and it was all amazing. We stayed a while happy and full as I sipped more coffee. We even got to see Gus come out and speak to the patrons. The only thing I would love them to make an adjustment is their venting system. We could literally get a lot of the smoke and frying smells from the kitchen . The air vent system probably with the leasing company should get that corrected for them. The cost to eat there is some economical. I admit I was a little hesitant because nowadays a lot of places are awful due to being cheap and not caring but this place does a great job considering the times we live in right now Get the spaghetti for sure. I was very impressed. The noodles were perfect and it was hot on delivery with a very good flavor. Most of all it was packaged well and a great serving size for my son. The burger is another must and it was perfect in flavor, cooked to perfection, had nice pickles and tomato just as requested. Bun was nicely toasted. Not many fries and my kids wanted more and that's rare for them. They re-heated so well and they didn't salt them so we could salt to our liking. I tasted a couple too. I got the club sandwich and this was not great but I not docking points but it was really small and no fries came with it which is standard. I did like that it was a traditional club and toasted to perfection and it did taste yummy just really small which is weird. I guess their bread was reduced in traditional size so particularly not their fault. Two suggestions I wish they had a key lime pie and maybe a pie, cookie or cake of the day. Like a really good carrot cake or meringue pie. Maybe, do a Door dash exclusive where the fries come with the sandwich or something neat like that but I'm impressed. Best cafe style place in the area for sure. I want to order again. Also, maybe get a more protective bagging system for door dash delivery so you could staple a bag or something. I have eaten here before and it was delicious. I don't know if they've changed cooks or if it was just the day, but there were a couple issues with my meal this time. I ordered the pork chops and eggs with pan fries and a waffle. First and foremost, the pork chops were about the thickness of bacon, which I have never seen before. However the cook cooked those pork chops like they were regular size, so they ended up being basically jerky. I guess there's some fear with pork, but if you can't cook pork properly then you probably shouldn't have it on the menu. The waffle was not crispy and was lukewarm. That I asked to be reheated, which of course they did because they have fantastic service. It was basically the consistency of a pancake in crispness. I'm giving a second star because the eggs and pan fries were delicious, and the service is excellent. In case anyone at the restaurant is reading this, you can alleviate the cold waffles by serving hot syrup, just FYI. And whoever cooked your pork chops Saturday should not cook pork chops. read more

Located in a strip mall close to Sprouts. Came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast around 11:45 am because I read some good reviews, so thought I'd give it a try. No wait. Service was quick. Menu was a mix of diner and Greek foods. I ordered the #11 breakfast. My husband ordered the corned beef sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. I did not enjoy my food. I asked for it with no ham and instead to put onions and cheese. The scrambled eggs were too hard and kinda dry, and the cheese was not melted-just thrown on top of the eggs as an afterthought. My skillet potatoes (which are the best part of any good breakfast) were the worst part-hard and extra crunchy. So disappointed. The biscuit was soft though, but the gravy was a little too salty. I was a little irritated when we got the bill because I got charged extra for the onions and cheese. The waitress didn't tell me there would be an extra charge. So I ended up paying $11 for a plate of hard eggs and hard crunchy potatoes. My husband said he liked his corned beef sandwich and mashed potatoes and gravy. However, the sandwich was on the small side-they skimped on the meat. I would not come back here. If you do come here, I would not recommend any scrambled egg dishes or the skillet potatoes. And make sure to ask if you'll be charged extra for anything. read more
