Worst service I have ever had anywhere. Makayla decided it was more important to train new help than to finish my order. I asked her twice for my soup and cole slaw. She replied "I'll get it I asked her when and she said ....I'm training someone right now." Food was delish though despite the hair in my pickles. First time I ever stiffed a waiter/waitress. It's sad to write a negative review for one of our favorite places but twice now our carryout order has been wrong. This time my husband ordered a double decker and fries. He got home and no fries which he had paid for already. He called to ask for a credit as this is a 15 minute drive one way. Nope, they wouldn't do a credit so he had to go back to get them. The other time we ordered carry out, I asked for buiscut instead of toast with my omlette, nope didn't happen. The bacon in my omlette was not cooked very well either, nasty. Exactly what you'd want. They've been a westside staple for years!(so I'm told) The outdoor look is unassuming, and the decor is a little aged. However, the service and food was great! I had the breakfast sausage gravy and egg over a biscuit. It was a nice large helping. Gravy was delicious! They serve their entire menu all day. We'll be back to try out the other items on the menu! I've been going to the squirrel ever since they opened in the 90s at the colerain location. I always got the western omelette with extra extra salsa add onions to the home fries with a tiny side of gravy. The quality has been slipping the last couple years even prior to Covid. It was first time there so I didn't realize how big the menu was. It made my decision a lot tougher. Ended up getting the cowboy burger. It did not disappoint. Do not order the GOETTA it is terrible. We ordered it twice in the past. The first time it tasted super salty like they were trying to preserve it or something. Today when we ordered it it tasted like old oil. We asked the manager to reimburse us and she said no would not budge. This is a clean little diner that serves American Food and is a great place to stop for lunch...though they are open late enough to have dinner there too. About a dozen ladies went there for lunch and everyone liked their meal....which included everything from their fish sandwish to breakfast (which is served all day.) This place was a lot cleaner/more cute than it looked from the outside. Service was fine, not unfriendly or pushy. Food was mostly frozen pre-made stuff. I would definitely avoid the chicken and waffles (flavorless cafeteria chicken fingers and a waffle that may have been fresh but you'd never know it) and stick with grill-top items (eggs, goetta, etc...). Syrup and butter came in single serve containers, I thought this was maybe Covid related but as a first time customer I can't say for sure. I've always said I wanted to go in to check this place out and I finally did! It's a huge space but still a stereotypical diner at the end of the day. The menu options are chock full of Cincinnati staples: double and triple-deckers, goetta, rueben, gyro's etc. I ordered the gyro and although the serving was massive it came with a salad on top of it and the thickest tzatziki sauce on the face of the planet. It was like a chip dip more than a sauce. The gyro meat was not shaved in the traditional style either. It was cut or maybe carved with a knife but it was so thick that it turned me off a bit. It wasn't bad but there were aspects that really threw me off. I ordered the chicken and waffles for my son and his came out looking scrumptious! I ordered everything to go so no pics but no one is missing anything. P.S- This seems like the type of place you go to eat when you have a hangover.... so I guess I will be back! I've been going here for as long as I can remember. They've always had kind servers, fresh, HOT food, etc. Except I was just there and waited for about half an hour while the place wasn't busy and when they brought my food (biscuits and gravy) it was completely cold and even the bacon I got as a side was cold.
