The 513
Liz W.

Cute little cafe style eatery. Everything looked good. I ordered the Chi-Body Burger and my husband ordered the 513. Servers were nice and the cooks were pushing out food and working hard. The portions here are huge! I love it. The burger was good - lots of ham and bacon. I really liked how the ham was cooked on the griddle before being added to the burger. Next time I would definitely try the Smelvin breakfast.

Great burgers! The place was busy! The place was clean and had good service. We arrived before closing and the place was still full.

Phenomenal food with GIANT portions, great service, and a cozy diner vibe. So many great sounding things on the menu it made it very hard to choose but makes the choice easy to go back for more. Do yourself a favor and eat here... I highly recommend the smelvin and add gravy...

The Smelvinator!! Add jalapeños and bring a friend. It's HUGE and DELICIOUS!! I've driven by everyday going to work. There is usually a line starting before 8am. So glad I finally stopped to try it!!

Breakfast burger - oh my!

We've been meaning to try this place for years - like since it opened. We just got around to it and had a great breakfast/brunch. First off, I feel like the portions are enormous. It's not a "cheap" greasy spoon type diner, but it's a very good one and worth the price (in my opinion). We ordered the followed: The Melvin (small - to share with 2 people) Pancakes (to share) Breakfast burger Omelette with Goetta (comes with home fries and toast) The food is simple, but tasty. The Smelvin was so good. It has all the meats and is tossed with scrambled eggs and home fries. It was very good and even better with hot sauce on top. The pancakes were light and fluffy - just like I enjoy them. We shared them so we could all enjoy a bit of "sweet" with out meal. The breakfast burger was enormous. It would easily be 2, maybe 3 meals for a person. I can't get over how large it was and it was piled with breakfast toppings - tons of them. The omelette was generously filled with meat and was larger than I expected giving it just had meat and cheese in it. My husband had no problem crushing it. This place is busy. There's only 2-3 servers for the whole place and despite how small it is, they pack in tables and seating. If you come at a peak time - 11am - 12pm - expect to wait a bit. But it's worth the wait and usually it's only like 15 minutes. Table move quickly in here. If you like your coffee piping hot, you will appreciate this coffee. Someone walks around periodically refilling mugs too which is nice. A couple of things that kept me from giving 5 stars. We asked for waffle fries with it, but got regular fries. They were so busy though that we never got a chance to get it corrected. They forgot our toast and we had to request it and I had ordered jalapeños, but by the time the server remembered to bring them, I was finished eating. No biggie, but it's the little things. This place is no frills. The staff works VERY hard and they are friendly. It's a simple restaurant that serves quality food. I would definitely come back.

Goetta omelette. (Well what's left of it!)

Service was good, food was great! Highly recommend. It's a fun little joint! If you don't like community seating don't go when it's busy.

The restaurant sits on the Miami river which was very picturesque. They had a bier garden complete with a stage for live performances. We were waited on quickly and they carried Warsteiner, which we enjoyed! We had a friendly and efficient server. The first item we ordered was the Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was a decent size and tasty. The bier cheese, however, missed the mark for me. It didn't even resemble any beer cheese I ever had. And unfortunately, I ordered my broccoli with that cheese! My husband ordered the Kaiser burger--which sounded substantial and delicious. And I ordered the Mettwurst and sauerkraut. The portion sizes were great! But let me just say--they are no Hofbräuhaus! Not at all! Not even close. The only thing I managed to eat was the Mettwurst and only a few bites and it wasn't that great. And then the potato pancakes? They were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We were starving and disappointed. But coupled with fatigue we were just happy to have eaten and gotten on our way home. The restaurant was pretty packed by the time we left. And people seemed to be enjoying their food. So we may try it one more time--especially because the venue was very German inspired. Our bill came to about 100 with tip. Wished I could have given a better review--sorry!

With the exception of sitting at the bad, I've had one thing in common with every experience: bland customer service. It feels like every time I've sat at a table and had a server, they aren't all that friendly and always seemed rushed. Outside of that, the food is always consistent and great value. I wasn't as pleased with the wings, but everything else I've had I would order again. The goetta quesadilla is on point! These pulled pork nachos were also super great! If you enjoy a good sports bar, this is your spot. They stay busy, so they must be doing something right.

The biggest issue was getting the attention of a server. Even after we placed our order she was hard to find. Especially when we wanted the check. The food was decent, not spectacular, but above average for a sports bar. We were on the west side to see a very limited release movie down the street. Look for my review of Cinemark West if you want the skinny on that experience. I mention this as I wouldn't make a special trip. One humorous note... Their website suggests a great skyline view. Well, the view is of the Skyline Chili at the bottom of the parking lot. Lol

This visit, we were celebrating my youngest brother's birthday. From the moment we were seated, our server, Jayden, was exceptional. We were waiting on the birthday "boy" (57) to join us so I told Jayden we'd wait for his arrival before ordering. (Told him about the birthday but we were keeping it low-key.) He brought us our drinks and some bread while we waited. Once all arrived, we went directly to ordering dinner. 2 steak dinners and I ordered the melt-in-your-mouth salmon (I need to eat more omega-3 ;).) The steaks were cooked perfectly and our non-alcoholic drinks never ran dry. Jayden was always present when needed without being at all intrusive. His friendliness and professionalism were so appreciated. You picked a winner hiring this young man! We had passed on dessert as we were all full. To say the birthday dessert packed to-go for my brother was a surprise is an understatement. He was thrilled! Closing out the wonderful dinner we met the Manager, Joe Gramaglia, who stopped by to see how everything went. Glad he did. We told him exceptional across the board! (Grabbed Joe's business card on the way out which is why I noted his last name.) The next brother birthday is in December but I'm sure we'll be visiting again before that. The ambiance was a nice, western-themed establishment with plenty of tables, booths, and free parking. Everything was clean and organized to move comfortably around.
