Fun local bar serving traditional pub fare. When you step into the Friendly Stop you' feel as if you're stepping into a bar from a hundred years ago. I say this as a good thing. It's a small bar with warm wood all over: the paneling,floors bar area and just about everything else. We went for lunch at noon on a Sunday. Before long the place was crowded. The burgers we ordered were delicious- a peppercorn burger and a garlic burger. We shared a basket of onion rings which came out piping hot and tasty. The prices are very reasonable there are a couple of TV's to watch sports on and of course a full bar plus beers on tap or bottles. Prices are very reasonable. We ordered a takeout order of chicken wings and fries to split. I was told it would take 15-20 minutes , which was about how long it took to walk from our house. When I got there they were ready to pack up and that was nice. It is a small bar, but very loud asked for the buffalo sauce on the side and everything we needed was in the bag, including ketchup for the fries. The wings were great! Fresh chicken, crispy and juicy. The fries were average crinkle cuts, hence losing a star. But we will definitely be back for more wings in the future. read more

A definite locals bar. The bartenders made me feel welcomed but with limited seating at the bar, I had some old timers seat and I could tell he wasn't too happy. Since I'm no spring chicken it was my seat until I left. A lot of hamburgers being served and other food fare. I had a cup of bean and ham soup. I like mine better but it held its own. More of a white bean and clear broth. That was followed up with a delux cheeseburger and chips. It was good but not g special. It was reasonably priced. Decent bar food but no stand outs. I love places like Friendly Stop. When entering it's obvious this neighborhood bar and grill has been around for a long long time. I would describe the ambiance as visually interesting, and a bit noisy. The food was all excellent and the menu was very simple. Our table ordered the meatloaf sandwich, Cod sandwich, and the Reuben. Side substitution was simple. Everything came out quickly and properly prepared and presented. Prices are very reasonable. This is your typical dive place just that it opened over a century ago (est. 1907!). The burger was pretty darn good. The onion rings were also good. I have been to the Friendly Stop before and from what I remember it was pretty tasty and the service was good. First, place is small so I kept that in mind when we came in with four adults and three kids. It's for sure a local spot. When we got there they were pretty busy there was one table left and we were able to sit there. We sat down and about a few minutes later our server came over to us to take our drink order. Several minutes later she came back to us without our drinks and said she is running ten minutes behind so she will be with us shortly, about twenty minutes later we got our drinks. We ordered shortly after that and we waited an additional probably 40 minutes for our food. When we did get our food it was hot, it was good and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The ambience is great. Old neighborhood tavern started in 1907. Originally was a house, turned into barber shop turned into tavern. The staff is friendly fast and efficient. Sat at the bar that later filled up with friendly regulars. Now the food. IT WAD ON POINT. I've been craving a good beef Manhattan and this was probably the best I've had. Except they call it open face roast beef. In any event it was a lot of food, but I'm a bit of a fatso so I finished it. I've heard from fellow patrons the garbage nachos, Cajun fries and garlic burger are all must try. Next time people. Parking is a bit janky but I'm telling you it's worth whatever drive or hassle you have to endure to get there. read more

Stopped in for the first time last Thursday around 2:30 PM for a late lunch. At first I thought I walked into a gay bar, because everyone was drinking that LGBLT type beer called Bud. But now I think not, no one hit on me. Waitress was timely, polite and helpful. I had a draft Miller Lite beer, it was very cold and refreshing. The wife had ice water and the ice was fine, no problem. I had the Ruben and it was excellent, real rye bread, toasted perfectly, good sour kraut, but should have a little more corn beef. Wife had an American cheeseburger she said it was very good and we shared a side of onion rings which very outstanding. We enjoyed the bars character and ambience via the vintage license plated. First timer here. We met some friends for lunch and came across this place on Yelp when another place we had planned on going to was closed on Sunday. Good reviews on Yelp so we gave it a whirl. So glad we did! Great service,, fantastic food, and the place has a cool atmosphere with all the license plates from across the nation on the walls. My buddy and I both got the Adams double burger. Wow it was good. My wife got the triple meat grilled cheese - she loved it. His wife got a patty melt which she also enjoyed. I live in NKY and my parents live in Dayton (Ohio). Whenever we make weekend lunch plans, we often try to find somewhere in between us to meet. I'm always trying to steer us away from big chain restaurants during these lunches and thus am always looking for great affordable grub for us to try out. From my first glance at their menu I could tell that Friendly stop definitely has a great burger game. Our server, who I believe was also behind the bar most of the time too had lots of personality and was quick to make a joke with us. She was great- you can tell why this place has so many regulars. One thing to note was that I think there maybe something funky with the ice that they're putting in the drinks. I ordered a diet coke and everyone at our table noticed a freezer-burnt/metallic flavor to their drinks (we suspected the ice was the culprit). For my meal, I ordered the salmon burger. This was a salmon patty with some typical fixins'. I was trying to aim healthier than a typical burger. I think their typical burgers are probably a stronger menu choice, but it tasted fine. I found Friendly Stop while looking online for somewhere to eat near my mother-in-law's nursing home. I needed a place that had the average American fare, as she's never been an adventurous eater. This place fit the bill. It's just over 1/2 mile from where she's living and had good reviews. It's a typical, small dive bar with a funky decor of license plates covering the walls. There's only about 10-12 tables, including the tables that are up in a small room behind the bar. You have to walk behind the bar, up a few steps, and go to a little room behind the bar. There's also a back balcony patio for the warmer months. Our server was also the bartender. She took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. On a whim, I decided to order a Bloody Mary. I saw several reviews saying that it was really good. I concur, it is delicious! My husband had a Beer and Ice-Tea and my mother-in-law also had an Ice-Tea. They both liked the tea and said it had a good flavor. My mother-in-law ordered a half order of the Open Faced Roast Beef, served with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. My husband ordered the Jumbo Chicken Wings. He ordered 5 of them with Buffalo Sauce and 5 of them with the Friendly Fire Sauce. The Friendly Fire Sauce was described as their absolute hottest sauce and is a secret recipe that the chef won't even share with the staff. I ordered the CD burger. It's a deluxe cheeseburger. It's served with potato chips with the option to upgrade the side for a charge. I ordered Onion Rings instead of the chips. We all thought our meals were really good for bar food. My mother-in-law enjoyed the open-faced roast beef with potatoes. I tasted some of the Friendly Fire sauce after my husband said that he didn't think it was that hot. I agreed that it wasn't nearly as hot as expected. But we both agreed that the sauces were really yummy. My husband said they were some of his favorite wings that he's had. My burger was good. Not the best burger I've had but definitely good for bar food. The onion rings were really tasty. They were fried perfectly and the onion had a slightly sweet flavor. My husband liked them also. If I had any complaint it was the $2.99 for an upgrade to onion rings. There was only 6 onion rings. While it was plenty for me with the size of the burger, I thought it was over-priced for the size of the order. In my opinion this place rates a solid 3.5 stars but the delicious Bloody Mary and homemade wing sauces, plus the friendly service bring it up to a 4 star. The service was really friendly and fairly quick for how busy they were with all the regulars there to watch the Bengals game. We enjoyed the food and the funky decor. And I got quite a chuckle at the restroom decor. It had picture frames filled with cut out magazine pictures of men celebrities, many of them shirtless. Went here for a late lunch with my husband, his Mom & brother. We found a table quickly & our server got our drink order soon after. I ordered a cup of soup w/half a sandwich which came with potato chips. My vegetable beef soup was bland & tasted like it had been reheated a few times. On the other hand, my 1/2 Reuben sandwich was piled high with corn beef & was fantastic. My husband got the shrimp & fries and it was good. My brother-in-law ordered the Buffalo wings & they were spicy & delicious. My mother-in-law had the chicken sandwich but I didn't taste it so I can't judge that.
