We went for Valentine's Day dinner, so yes, I know it's going to be crowded, but the service sucked and it was poorly run. We had reservations. Hostess asks for my name, finds my reservation, and says she doesn't know how long it's going to be. Then another lady grabs the tablet from her and yells at her to stop seating walk ins when they're fully booked with reservations and they have no tables. Needless to say we were not seated anywhere near our reservation time. Our waitress was typical of the current terrible service in the restaurant industry. Takes order, brings drinks, and you never see them again until they bring the check. They have food runners bring the food out, so if you need anything, they just look at you like a deer in the headlights and walk away. We really liked the food, which is why I gave 4 stars. The pretzel with beer cheese appetizer is worth driving there for. The burger was very tasty and prepared well. I'll agree with other people in that it is a little too pricey. The appetizers shouldn't be the same price or higher than entrees, and the $3+ sodas are just ridiculous. I can see how some people think it's too loud in there, but I guarantee tonight was as packed as they get, and we didn't think it was too bad. I like the style of the place and the seats were pretty comfy. We would eat here again if we're in the area. read more

My husband and i live close so Shift is an ok alternative. The restaurant is clean and the food is ok. OK meaning nothing is amazing but you can get a nice salad or burger etc. Recently was very disappointed though. I had the steak street tacos and they literally consisted of 3 tortillas filled with lettuce, sauce, some cheese and steak pieces that were cut so small and so few that they should not have been called steak tacos. I am talking cut to the size of a pea and maybe 3-4 per taco. I understand the restaurant business runs on tight margins but take the item off the menu or raise the price to deliver quality. Had never been here before, as it is a 45 minute drive from home, and it seemed like an unlikely place to offer a Thanksgiving buffet,but we had heard some great things about it, so we decided to eat out on Thanksgiving for a change. We were really impressed with the quality of the buffet and its value. They had fried chicken, turkey, roast beef, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, corn pudding, mac and cheese, asparagus, fried apples, stuffing, cranberry sauce, fresh fruit and rolls.I piled my plate high with most of these things, but ate every bite. I loved everything I tried. Dessert, either pumpkin or pecan pie, was included. Service was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere, great service, and tasty food. We stopped in to catch the Purdue basketball game and enjoy drinks/dinner with friends. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find they did not have BTN (Big Ten Network). But the story only gets better from there. (not sarcasm) The manager apologized and got right to work getting them subscribed. Now this is amazing and these days is almost unheard of. Most bar and grills will just apologize and say sorry for your luck. But Shift, holy cow. They went to work to make it happen. He spent over 45 minutes on the phone working to get us the game and lo and behold, he did! We enjoyed our dinner (tacos, a giant Bavarian pretzel, a very fresh, crisp Caesar salad, and great draft beer options) and we also enjoyed the game. We'll be back for sure. First, the 3 stars is only because the server was amazing and accomodating. Beyond the service, absolutely disappointed given the hype about a second location opening at Hillcrest in Batesville. Next, we had a reservation for 5:30 the plan was to check out the food to see if we wanted to consider them for a wedding and rehersal dinner in Batesville. The parking lot was packed, so initially we thought, oh this place must be amazing. We could barely get in the door and had to wait to be seated for about 10 minutes - when we were seated we were put next to a group of 30 surrounded by another group of 15. The noise level was OFF THE CHARTS - tip if you are going to cater to large groups, close your restaurant to people that want to go an enjoy a meal out or at least pick a section of your facility for large groups and one section for normal dining. We could barely hear the server. The food was "meh" the potato skins didn't have enough BBQ sauce, most of it was on the plate so it looked pretty. The fried pickles were super salty although the were not greasy. Two of our party of four had a burger which both agreed had very little flavor. The bride had the special, the filet - super tender BUT again, flavorless. I had the Street Tacos ( steak) they were ok but again missing sauce. Was the food "meh" because of the 3 large groups - not sure. Presentation gets an A, flavor and quality get a C. Ambiance gets an epic fail, Server gets an A++. Our server was top notch which is whyShift didn't get one star. She was attentive, professional, and spot on. Overall, I would not give this place a second chance( although my hubby things we should) and will certainly not be using them for anything. It's clear to me that Shift is more concerned about volume than quality. Wish it wasn't so....was really looking forward to them coming to Batesville. At this point I think they will become of the next restaurant statistic in Bateville unless all they do is cater to the club golf crowd and large groups then they will have a chance. read more

This restaurant and bar is more of a sophisticated sports bar than dive-bar. It's got class inside the building as far as the appearance as well as within the menu with made from scratch recipes like their fried chicken dinners (served unlimited home style) on Sundays. On this Friday evening we got a table without wait and were greeted immediately by a cheerful waitress who seemed to be genuinely happy. It's refreshing to see that in your staff so kudos to this management team. They've got to be doing something right. I ordered the bbq chicken flatbread that was just the perfect amount for one person. Fresh ingredients and I could tell they smoked the chicken which added just a subtle touch of personality. One of the things that was most noticeable (and In the BEST way) about this entree was that they used actual crispy bacon crumbles, not that fakin' bacon that so many reputable and not so reputable pizza joints use. Beautiful restaurant but this place really missed the mark for me. Upon entering, it can be difficult to find where the hostess stand is. We were not greeted for several minutes by staff. After being sat, our waitress asked for drinks in a short, uninterested tone and never welcomed us or introduced herself. I ordered the short rib street tacos and they were just okay. The short rib meat was too dry and the slaw on top was bland. However, the french fries were great! Overall, this restaurant will not make it long in the area unless they fine-tune their menu and improve their customer service greatly. Came here with my mom, early Friday afternoon. Our first impression was how pretty the inside of the building was decorated, and how big it was. There was an outside area to eat, and plenty of 2 and 4 top tables. We got 2 appetizers, tacos, a burger and drinks. I was happy with the restaurant and would definitely go again. They were doing a dessert sample that day(!) so we got some free cheesecake which was the best cheesecake I've had in a really long time. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because my draft beer was flat and my mom's drink was almost all whiskey and no coke. It was a really small issue, so we didn't mention it, but we should have... I'm sure they would have fixed it. Will go back! read more

I waited 90 minutes for a to go order tonight. They said it would be 55 minutes to make two burgers because they're swamped, okay no bigger. I arrived 50 minutes after I ordered (730), I sat and waited for another 15 minutes until they said it would be ready very soon. At 8pm they said, 5 more minutes. At 815, they brought me my food to check out and it was only 1 burger.... So another 15 minutes and they brought out the second one. When I got home and bit into the burger, I was upset to say the least. The burger was rare. I pulled it apart and the inside was still cold. So they charred the outside quickly and called it done. I'm 7 months pregnant, I cannot eat a rare burger. I order it well. The first burger was perfect and I ate that one and my husband ate McDonalds. We won't be going back there. The sad part was the restaurant wasn't busy, over half the tables were empty. read more

I was so disappointed in all of the staff and patrons that were allowed to walk around mask-free. I don't even know why some tried, because they leaned in to talk to tables and uncovered their faces.
