Wake up new owners you lost another loyal customer! I've been enjoying RR for almost 23 years and last night was the final visit. I went there right after Pat and Pete sold the place and ordered what I thought was their delicious steak and cheese (why did you fix something that wasn't broke?) You changed everything! The meat was so chewy and salty plus the small little bun you put it on was awful and the sub wasn't even served as I requested so it went into the trash. I then decided to give RR another try this weekend. I wanted some of their delicious fried chicken and what I got was over cooked and so greasy with zero flavor. The meat was a horrible gray color and the bones were black and the wings were so light that there was no meat to speak of. Worse thing is you changed the batter recipe. Don't say you didn't because RR chicken you could eat without drowning in grease and it had a delicious flavor. Not anymore! Trust me, anyone thinking about dinning here go around the corner to Tom and Rays where Gary has always stayed true to his food and his customers. Sorry RR...the cluck stops here! read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. Best take-out fried chicken around. Seriously, so, so good. Just the right amount of peppery spice and not at all greasy. The Red Rooster is kind of a hole-in-the-wall sort of place. It's a tiny barn-like building hidden on Damascus Blvd. I just realized the last time I was there that you can actually sit inside and eat and they've added new tables outside if you want to dig in right there. Employees are always friendly, but the wait can be taxing (especially when you're smelling fried chicken and you're hangry). Call ahead and your order will be ready when you get there! read more

I went online to look at the menu and order wings. The pricing is about $10 different. When I asked to speak with the manager Wang or wan he was rude and claimed it wasnt his site. I asked for a refund in the amount of the difference that was advertised and he wouldn't honor it. I don't care how good the food is, it's the integrity that this place lacks. When you post prices you should honor them. The lack of respect, ethics, and integrity will keep me from returning. Pay attention before you order. This place has false advertising and is unethical. This place is a hidden gem. The chicken is pressurized fried and it is so crispy and surprisingly not dripping in grease. Perfectly crispy skin and moist dark meat underneath but not dripping in oil and grease! It was amazing! It could use a bit of seasoning but other than that no complaints here. The location is small and the dining room closes an hour before they close but you can always eat on the picnic tables provided outside for you. The man that took our order and the rest of the staff was very friendly. They did charge us $1 for some BBQ sauce in a small plastic cup which was crazy. read more

I was very excited about this place from all of the reviews on here. Honestly, I don't know if it was a weird hour or they're just like this all the time, but man was I let down. Fried Chicken: 2/5. For a place known for fried chicken, I've never been more underwhelmed in my life. Skin was soggy, chicken was flavorless, and it was just dry. Lackluster chicken is what it was. Baked Beans: 3/5. I mean I guess these are alright, but honestly I think these are Bush's. I grew up with Bush's, so the flavor and look of it seemed too familiar. Not mad though. Potato Salad: 1/5. Way too sweet. Not balanced. Chocolate Pie: 4/5. I mean there really is no bad pie. Just mediocre. All in all, it was underwhelming, but was very cheap. I'd still take quality over quantity any day. read more

The best chicken around in my opinion...very disappointed today though. I tried to call in a order and it kept ringing so I drove up there and they were closed for the Holidays. A small suggestion for next year, get an answering machine to let people know :( and update your website to let people know. About 5 cars pulled up and drove away unhappy. The chicken is great, but what place tells you ONE HOUR before closing they can no longer take orders? I showed up at 6:05pm (close at 7pm), and they asked if I had already called. When I said no, I'd just like an 8pc bucket of chicken, they claimed they were too busy to accept any more orders for the night. This place is known for its down home crispy fried chicken...however, I love this place for their French Toast. I don't care how much butter they use or how many calories I'm consuming when it comes to certain foods. This is one of those meals. I will happily crawl out of bed Saturday morning, drive up the street in my pj's to pick up a large order of thick, buttery, melt in your mouth French Toast. My one recommendation would be to build a privacy fence around the dumpster out front...it's just not appetizing. read more

Fried chicken is pretty good. Not the best ever, but definitely the best I've had around Damascus/Mount Airy. I've had their burgers and they aren't bad. Fries are good and steak and cheese was average. I'm sure they have some other items that are pretty good just haven't had them. Will look at reviews and try some of their best food choices. My husband ordered fried chicken for take out last Tuesday. We were very excited to try it because of the good reviews. To our disappointment the chicken was bland!! One of my daughters told me it has a fishy taste and refused to finish it. The chicken appeared to have been fried in an oil that has been used several times already. In Damascus, you take what you can get, because there isn't much. Place is a dump but so what? It's a fast food place and for fast food, it's a step above the chains. The people are nice. That's what matters. Not much else to say really. But one has to realize that in Damascus, we take what we can get food-wise and we oversell it. If you like food, do not go to Damascus, but if you are in town and you want a burger, fried chicken or some coleslaw, then go here rather than some lame chain (which are everywhere around here). Unfortunately the new owners (Brian and Will) are not very welcoming. They fall way below the one star rating for customer service but inorder for me to post this I had to give them a star. Brian actually called me a liar after one of his employees quoted me an incorrect price for their gallon of coleslaw. Not sure if you are new to the business world but here is a piece of advice, it's good practice to listen to your customers. Fried chicken is amazing! My kids love this place it's definitely worth the drive. Order it ahead of time so you do not have to wait.

I hope this is just a bad experience once, because I will be really upset if our beloved Red Rooster goes down hill! Yesteday called at noon to order a 4 piece chicken mean to pick up at 4PM. A lady told me I did not have to pre-order it since it was a small meal and to just call on my way in, or I could just show up there. I called on my way, and they told me there was a 1:15 min. wait and I could not get the chicken. I explained what the lady told me on the phone 4 hours earlier, and they just said "sorry, can't get the chicken." I really hope they learn how to run the business correctly. this morning i googled Red Rooster, got the menu. Called to place an order and it was $10.00 more than the web site. Spoke with one of the owners Will. What a freaking rude dude. He claims his web site was stolen and wont honor prices and I had to go onto facebook, so Will here I am on facebook!! Well, that could be true but there is a way to speak with people, there is a way for business owners to speak with people. I told him I would go somewhere else to buy chicken. He said go right ahead. So I urge my fellow facebookers to do exactly the same thing. I am a local person, normally eat there once or twice a week. Get chicken there whenever entertaining. but I guess they have enough business and are ok with running long time, local customers away. Incase Will didn't know Safeway sells good chicken, Weis sells chicken, Food lion also sells chicken so he is not the only chicken joint in town. Lets not forget KFC and Popeyes.
