Service was good and the place was decent. The tables were a little messy, but nothing too crazy. Bathroom had soap and tissue and wasn't dirty... but I wouldn't exactly call it clean either. Now the food... whew. The chicken was overcooked--or maybe they double fry it? Either way, it was fried fried . The seasoning was also way too salty for me. Meanwhile, the fries somehow had the opposite problem and actually needed to be fried longer. How did we get overcooked chicken and undercooked fries on the same plate?! Unfortunately, I wouldn't return. Social media got me AGAIN. The pictures said "come on in," but my taste buds said nope nope. read more

Chicken Basket is easily my favorite fried chicken spot in the area. The chicken is always fresh, high quality, and seasoned extremely well. Every time I've picked up food from there, the staff have been friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The restaurant itself is small and pretty no-frills, but that's honestly part of the charm. You're going there for excellent fried chicken, not a fancy dining experience. If you want some damn good fried chicken, this place absolutely delivers. read more

Where I used to live there was a chicken basket, so when I discovered this week that there's one 10 mins from my job...I could not resist breaking my diet to indulge. 4 juicy chicken tenders, a box full of seasoned fries and a roll for only $12! The portion size and price cannot be compared to anywhere else. Not to mention the honey mustard on the side was delicious possibly competition for chick fil and the creamy cold cole slaw!! I think next time I'll try the steak and cheese! read more

Use to go here all the time in highschool then they closed for a little while I dont remember why but im glad it reopened. It's in a area where it's hard to get in and out of but there's parking in the back. I always order ahead then pick it up. The price is reasonable and taste pretty basic but the seasoning on the fries and the mambo sauce makes up for it. The guy who owns the place is very nice ive never had a problem ordering here. There's a few chairs inside you can eat there but I prefer to go read more

I haven't been to this Chicken Basket in over 30 years. We were in the area and wanted great fried chicken. I googled restaurants and Chicken Basket came up! I have to say I was not disappointed, the chicken was as fresh and delicious as I remembered. The coleslaw was so good and of course their fries were hot, crispy and amazing. Growing up in Gaithersburg and seeing all my favorite places closed down. I was thrilled Chicken Basket was still open and as good as it's always been. Also the owner and cashier were so nice! Wonderful experience. read more

I drive by here daily and the smell of the chicken always gets my belly grumbling and calls my name. Today, I finally had a chance to stop by quickly. I was in the mood for some chicken strips... lucky for me it's on the daily special menu. Even luckier for me was they are huge, juicy and nothing but meat!! I was very surprised by the size and quality. It's hard these days to get decent chicken strips. Worth it and I will definitely be back to try some of the of fare. It's a clean cafe style seating. Good for quick stops or to go. read more

(Friday 3/1/2024 visit) Saturday 12/23/2023 I made a takeout order through Uber eats and got the 6 strip dinner (comes with fries, bread, and coleslaw) $13 and a 4 piece chicken (wing, thigh, leg, and a breast) $9. 1 also got mumbo sauce, honey mustard, bbq sauce, and hot sauce. The service was pretty good: they were kind and made sure I was completely set with everything that I needed (sauces, utensils, and napkins). I wasn't a fan of the chicken strips. The texture and taste reminded me of those store bought Tysons frozen chicken nuggets that come with no crisp to them. The fries were decent & crispy but would've been even better with more seasoning on them. The fried chicken by the peice was great: very crispy and juicy. The mumbo sauce was by far the best sauce they had and it's without a doubt the best mumbo sauce that I've ever had. For the other sauces: honey mustard was decent, hot sauce was okay, and the boq sauce was underwhelming & not very good. Overall, I had a decent experience with chicken basket (chicken strips aside) and I would recommend and be open to returning in the future. read more

I cannot believe i havent written a reveiw for the best fried chciken and fries in the DMV. Yeah, I said it. Best fries and fried chicken in the DMV. And whats really the best is that every order is cooked after you order and 15 minutes later you will get a piping hot order of food. read more

My husband and I tried the basket in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Jennifer provided amazing service. The restaurant is very clean, and the bathrooms are even cleaner for a fast-food place. The food was delicious, and if I could give it more than five stars, I would. If you're looking for a nice, clean spot to enjoy some chicken fries or seafood, this is the place. My husband had clams. Please stop by and ask for Jennifer, and you'll receive great customer service. read more

Read a few reviews and wanted to check it out for myself. Great service, great food. The chicken was golden brown, crispy, juicy and delicious. I will definitely go back! We love "Chicken Basket" and owner and Master Cook Mr. Eddie... The best succulent Fried Chicken, Old School Crinkle Fries, Fish Sandwich and Shrimp in the area. Mr. Eddie keeps his place clean and patronized by world-class customers! His staff is very nice and friendly, mirroring Mr. Eddie's customer-friendly demeanor! The "Chicken Basket" restaurant experienced a fire at their building several years ago and the well-loved place was down for nearly two years or more of rebuilding. Mr. Eddie's faithful customers suffered like losing a loved-one! He rebounded and reopened better than ever! The served menu portions are plentiful and prices are reasonable. Chicken Basket is a major food staple in the Gaithersburg-MoCo area. Enjoyed by many! read more

On July 5th I ordered fish with fries and a side order of 6 shrimp. The driver was very friendly and delivered the food well within the expected time. I really enjoyed the shrimp, it was very tasty....chrispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fish was a bit of a disappointment, although it was fried perfectly, the taste was on the bland side and so was the fries, which tasted like the potatoes were frozen before they were cooked. I will order again from Chicken Basket, but this time I will order the shrimp. read more

Food - trash. The fried shrimp was all salty breading. Shrimp was a very minimum. All like canned shrimp. I was expecting something like Hip Hop Shrimp, or fresh gulf shrimp dipped and battered but this was really like some frozen fried shrimp from Costco/BJs, seasoned and dropped in grease again. It was a total miss. All I bit into was bread and a pink center. Not worth the effort or time. I also ordered fried mushrooms. This was nothing more than some Giant store portobello mushrooms dipped in the same salty breading as the "fried shrimp" . When I ate the mushrooms, the breading fell off, and it was just a greasy Giant store portobello mushroom. It wasn't anything to enjoy. -Ambience - it's a carry out shack and wasn't greeted compared to most small owned businesses. I walked in to almost no care as if I was there. I wouldn't want to get food, sit in and eat. It's like get and go vibes. Not enough space to sit and be comfortable in my opinion. - Service was ok. Wasn't welcoming. Felt very..."ooh we have a guest let me respond". Ultimately I was disappointed as I've been awaiting for their opening for some time. I watched the place be vacant, then they had signage and finally opened. The food and service just didn't bring anymore joy to my expectations. I'd advise y'all try another place, and stay away. It's not worth your time, or tastebuds. read more

The fried chicken is to die for! I've been eating Chicken Basket since I was 7 years old and I'm turning 50 next month! I drive from Martinsburg, WV every month to eat here. The service is also very pleasant. I'm always greeted with a sweet smile and an interesting conversation. The ambiance is usually very quiet, which I like. I'm not big on lots of noise while I'm trying to eat. I also enjoy looking at the paintings hung on the walls. There's a couple in actually very interested in. The price isn't bad for the amount of food you get as well as taste. Sodas are only $0.19 each. The wait for your food isn't long at all. If you haven't already, you should come check them out. They have a decent size menu for everyone to be satisfied. There's fried chicken, chicken strips, seafood, fried mushrooms, French fries, all kinds of sauces, etc. read more

This place used to be known for great fried chicken & fries, subs and more. On 10/10/24 We ordered a wing platter w/ fries & coleslaw and a 2-piece white w/fries. The batter on the chicken was not good at all, it was caked, and tasted Burt. The fries were frozen store bought fries. I couldn't even eat it. Got it home a day had to trash it. I'm sorely disappointed because my aunt wanted to stop there after a long day at the doctors. She was looking forward to some great food. But this place isn't the same as years ago. Don't eat there. Quality of food is horrible. Actually took this out trash to show how terrible this food is. read more

I was craving chicken basket and decided to write this review after I demolished my dinner. I order daily special i noticed they gave me an extra chicken strip. :) lucky! Also, I just found out they reopened thanks to someone I know. I found out too late but better than never. The chicken tenders are a huge size. I love their bbq sauce. It has a southern flavor. Also, The owner aren't stingy with the sauces. If you ask for extra they don't charge. The owner is also friendly always greeting people. Last time, i came he asked how was everything??! I told him it was wonderful and welcome back. Please get the chicken tenders and with mambo sauce too. Actual trash. There's no way these reviewers are eating at the same restaurant I am. This was a great spot many years ago so I was excited when I saw they reopened. Unfortunately, the new experience was terrible. One star for the steak and cheese since it was edible. The chicken was super salty and still had feathers on it, the fries had hardly any seasoning, the roll was hard, and the coleslaw tasted like vinegar. Luckily I'm only out $23, but we won't return. read more

Dined in today and ordered the 8 piece chicken strips and I think the total after tax came out to be a little over $10. Worth it. The strips were huge and definitely make enough food for two people. The strips were perfectly crisp on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. They were generous with all their sauces too. The kitchen was a little slow because I think there's only two people on staff here, but they were both very nice and doing the best they could. I've read bad reviews about takeout and I just don't think fried foods and takeout go together because it would hot fried food steam in the container and become soggy... but that's just me. Definitely recommend eating here instead or getting your own takeout so you can quickly get it home. read more

Chicken Basket - 12 Piece Fried Chicken Family Meal - Salad Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

Got my food here today. Called in for pick up right before my lunch. I ordered Chicken and French fries with mumbo sauce. The combo came with four average sized wings, lots of fries, bread roll and coleslaw. The fries had lots of old bay on them which was nice. The chicken was very salty and I found myself more thirsty than usual. My total was $8.48. Considering the awesome meal you would expect a drink to come with it but it doesn't, which annoyed me slightly. I decided to be healthy and just drink water that I had back at my job which in the end was the best choice , since everything was very salty. The cashier was very nice and proactive to assist me when I walked in. We had small talk as he rang me up and was overall a nice quick experience. The place was clean and smelled of good food. I will be returning. read more
