Chicken Basket is easily my favorite fried chicken spot in the area. The chicken is always fresh, high quality, and seasoned extremely well. Every time I've picked up food from there, the staff have been friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The restaurant itself is small and pretty no-frills, but that's honestly part of the charm. Where I used to live there was a chicken basket, so when I discovered this week that there's one 10 mins from my job...I could not resist breaking my diet to indulge. 4 juicy chicken tenders, a box full of seasoned fries and a roll for only $12! Use to go here all the time in highschool then they closed for a little while I dont remember why but im glad it reopened. It's in a area where it's hard to get in and out of but there's parking in the back. I always order ahead then pick it up. The price is reasonable and taste pretty basic but the seasoning on the fries and the mambo sauce makes up for it. The guy who owns the place is very nice ive never had a problem ordering here. I haven't been to this Chicken Basket in over 30 years. We were in the area and wanted great fried chicken. I googled restaurants and Chicken Basket came up! I have to say I was not disappointed, the chicken was as fresh and delicious as I remembered. The coleslaw was so good and of course their fries were hot, crispy and amazing. I drive by here daily and the smell of the chicken always gets my belly grumbling and calls my name. Today, I finally had a chance to stop by quickly. I was in the mood for some chicken strips... lucky for me it's on the daily special menu. Even luckier for me was they are huge, juicy and nothing but meat!! (Friday 3/1/2024 visit) Saturday 12/23/2023 I made a takeout order through Uber eats and got the 6 strip dinner (comes with fries, bread, and coleslaw) $13 and a 4 piece chicken (wing,thigh,leg, and a breast) $9. 1 also got mumbo sauce, honey mustard, bbq sauce, and hot sauce. The service was pretty good: they were kind and made sure I was completely set with everything that I needed (sauces, utensils, and napkins). I wasn't a fan of the chicken strips. The texture and taste reminded me of those store bought Tysons frozen chicken nuggets that come with no crisp to them. The fries were decent & crispy but would've been even better with more seasoning on them. The fried chicken by the peice was great: very crispy and juicy. The mumbo sauce was by far the best sauce they had and it's without a doubt the best mumbo sauce that I've ever had. For the other sauces: honey mustard was decent, hot sauce was okay, and the boq sauce was underwhelming & not very good. On July 5th I ordered fish with fries and a side order of 6 shrimp. The driver was very friendly and delivered the food well within the expected time. I really enjoyed the shrimp, it was very tasty....chrispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fish was a bit of a disappointment, although it was fried perfectly, the taste was on the bland side and so was the fries, which tasted like the potatoes were frozen before they were cooked. I will order again from Chicken Basket, but this time I will order the shrimp. read more

Food - trash. The fried shrimp was all salty breading. Shrimp was a very minimum. All like canned shrimp. I was expecting something like Hip Hop Shrimp, or fresh gulf shrimp dipped and battered but this was really like some frozen fried shrimp from Costco/BJs, seasoned and dropped in grease again. It was a total miss. All I bit into was bread and a pink center. Not worth the effort or time. I also ordered fried mushrooms. This was nothing more than some Giant store portobello mushrooms dipped in the same salty breading as the "fried shrimp" . When I ate the mushrooms, the breading fell off, and it was just a greasy Giant store portobello mushroom. It wasn't anything to enjoy. -Ambience - it's a carry out shack and wasn't greeted compared to most small owned businesses. I walked in to almost no care as if I was there. I wouldn't want to get food, sit in and eat. It's like get and go vibes. Not enough space to sit and be comfortable in my opinion. - Service was ok. Wasn't welcoming. The service is also very pleasant. I'm always greeted with a sweet smile and an interesting conversation. The ambiance is usually very quiet, which I like. I'm not big on lots of noise while I'm trying to eat. I also enjoy looking at the paintings hung on the walls. There's a couple in actually very interested in. The price isn't bad for the amount of food you get as well as taste. Sodas are only $0.19 each. The wait for your food isn't long at all. If you haven't already, you should come check them out. The batter on the chicken was not good at all, it was caked, and tasted Burt. The fries were frozen store bought fries. I couldn't even eat it. Got it home a day had to trash it. I'm sorely disappointed because my aunt wanted to stop there after a long day at the doctors. She was looking forward to some great food. But this place isn't the same as years ago. Don't eat there. Actual trash. There's no way these reviewers are eating at the same restaurant I am. This was a great spot many years ago so I was excited when I saw they reopened. Unfortunately, the new experience was terrible. One star for the steak and cheese since it was edible. The chicken was super salty and still had feathers on it, the fries had hardly any seasoning, the roll was hard, and the coleslaw tasted like vinegar. Dined in today and ordered the 8 piece chicken strips and I think the total after tax came out to be a little over $10. Worth it. The strips were huge and definitely make enough food for two people. The strips were perfectly crisp on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. They were generous with all their sauces too. The kitchen was a little slow because I think there's only two people on staff here, but they were both very nice and doing the best they could. I've read bad reviews about takeout and I just don't think fried foods and takeout go together because it would hot fried food steam in the container and become soggy... but that's just me. Definitely recommend eating here instead or getting your own takeout so you can quickly get it home. read more

The combo came with four average sized wings, lots of fries, bread roll and coleslaw. The fries had lots of old bay on them which was nice. The chicken was very salty and I found myself more thirsty than usual. My total was $8.48. Considering the awesome meal you would expect a drink to come with it but it doesn't, which annoyed me slightly. I decided to be healthy and just drink water that I had back at my job which in the end was the best choice , since everything was very salty. The cashier was very nice and proactive to assist me when I walked in. We had small talk as he rang me up and was overall a nice quick experience. The place was clean and smelled of good food. 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because of the cook. He was so nice. I came in and the person at the counter seemed really annoyed, perhaps he had a bad day but he wasn't helpful at all. The cook in the back saw this and helped me with my order. I ordered a two piece special and and extra wing. That came with fries and a soda. They had strawberry soda which is my favorite in a place like this! The fries were excellent. It was cooked well, meaty and crispy and seasoned with seasoned salt very well! Not too much as to overpower the fries, but just enough where you can taste just enough of it. And there's the D.C. Staple; mambo sauce where you can dip the fries and chicken in. It was very great! The chicken tasted great as well. Crispy in the outside, the skin and chicken seasoned very well and nice and juicy and tender on the inside. It melted my plastic spoon with how freshly made and hot the chicken was. The biggest issue here was that my drumstick was heavily undercooked. Like bleeding undercooked. The cook however was very apologetic and went back to cook me another piece. He tried everything he can to apologize and even offered me an extra drink. It's a pretty big deal to undercook chicken, which is why it's 3.5. But the reason I round up is because the cooked chicken was excellent and the cook was very nice about his mistake.
