Soup was fun and came out quick. The staff were the real stars here, just so warm, kind, helpful! My shrimp poboy was fine and the fries were good but too spicy for the kids.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the hostess who was very friendly. We arrived a bit late like 8pm and they close at 9 but luckily we were still able to be seated. Next, our waiter came over. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He gave great suggestions for drinks, and food. We ordered a sidecar, and Oaxacan Anticuado. The side car was bit strong but delicious and the Oaxacan Anticuado was a great play on an old fashioned. Charley's is known for their whisky cocktails so it was nice to experience a great drink that was not whisky. For appetizers we ordered a dozen of the half shell oysters. 6 of them were sweet and the remaining oysters were a little salty. I really enjoyed the sweet oysters. It was my first time tasting sweet oysters. They were prepared correctly and very enjoyable. For our entrees we ordered the catch of the day which was Halibat Fish with spinach and The grilled Za'tar crusted salmon with a loaded baked potato. Both of the fish were cooked to perfection and had great flavors. Overall, it was a great experience. They offer many seafood options. So if you are looking for a new seafood restaurant I highly recommend Charley's. I will be back soon. Cheers!

Dear Management, I…read moream writing to share my family's experience during our Father's Day visit to your restaurant. Unfortunately, what should have been a special celebration turned into a very disappointing experience due to the service we received upon arrival. We had a reservation for 4:00 p.m. When we arrived, the gentleman at the host stand was not welcoming or friendly. He simply told us to "step to the side" and that someone would assist us in a few minutes. As the minutes passed, we continued to wait without any communication. During that time, a white family of five walked in without a reservation and was seated immediately. At that point, I approached the host stand to ask what had happened and why we had not been seated despite having a reservation. The host searched for our reservation, asked what time it was scheduled for, and then casually stated, "I think someone stole your table." I was shocked by this response. I asked how that could happen if he was responsible for managing the seating. He had no explanation and, more importantly, never offered an apology for the mistake or the inconvenience. A manager later came over and asked what had happened. After I explained the situation, he appeared genuinely surprised and concerned by what had occurred. Once we were finally seated, our server acknowledged the delay and kindly offered us an appetizer because of the long wait at the front. We appreciated that gesture, but it did not change how unwelcome we had been made to feel upon arrival. I am writing this letter not because I am looking for compensation or anything in return. My purpose is simply to ensure that no other family has a similar experience, especially on a day meant to celebrate loved ones. Every guest deserves to be treated with fairness, courtesy, and respect. A sincere apology from the host at the time of the incident would have gone a long way. I hope you will use this feedback as an opportunity to coach your front-of-house staff on the importance of customer service, communication, and accountability. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. Sincerely, Ms. Deas

Although most of the Louisiana is…read morewest of the Mississippi River, New Orleans, where Ruth's Chris started less than 2 miles from the French Quarter. The founder was Ruth Fertel in 1965, and she sold steaks for $5 back then, which is the equivalent of a $53 steak in 2026. I'd kill for a $5 steak...haha. Unfortunately, looking at their Gaithersburg menu, the least expense steak is $60 for a petite 8 oz. I was curious to see New Orleans was cheaper, and that same petite steak is $56. Excellent steak (if I'm not paying), but not worth it. I've only been to Ruth's Chris twice. When I was in high school, I talked about going to Ruth's Chris sometime, and my dad would always say no, or if you're paying for it, we'll go; I quickly shut up when he said if I pay. However, after my high school graduation in June 2002, we went to the Phoenix, AZ location on my dad's dime; more like over $100 for the 3 of us even in 2002 dollars. The Phoenix location closed around 2017 as there was a location only 8.5 miles away in neighboring Scottsdale, so probably just didn't make much sense to have 2 of them so close together. The Scottsdale location was more central for wealthy populations in Town of Paradise Valley as well as still pretty upper crust City of Scottsdale. I visited the Gaithersburg location once in January 2020 with my girlfriend of that time. Neither of us paid! Don't worry we didn't dine & dash. Her friend sent us an invite to a Financial planning talk, which included a free meal to Ruth's Chris. We sat at tables facing the presenter with various strangers also let's be honest, mostly going for the free meal. But to be fair, I listened to the man's presentation and was considering, but never got around to it. As for the service, it was top notch. We had a pre fixe menu to choose entree, side, & dessert; I think salad too. I definitely got the steak, but they had some seafood options, but Ruth's Chris is known for steak; so I stuck with what I knew. I don't remember which side I got; maybe asparagus, mashed potatoes, or Brussel sprouts. I actually have the Jan. 2020 pic of the dessert, which was a cheesecake, which had strawberry, blueberry, & raspberry on the side. It was delicious too, but the real highlight was the steak. I didn't have the traditional dining experience at Gaithersburg, which is pay for a side, which is maybe enough to split for at 2, and the steak, which is sold a la carte, salad is a la carte, etc. If you go to another common steak chain, say one with a neighboring state in the title to LA established Ruth's Chris, you get a Ribeye with 2 sides included. Sure, it's more of a 4-star steak (prime rib is 5-star there), but paying quadruple for a steak/sides I'll maybe enjoy 50% more isn't worth it to me. But I'll be happy to go back if it was paid for or was significantly discounted. In summary, Ruth's Chris is an excellent steak if money wasn't a consideration.

We ordered three of their good wine, Caymus, Duckhorn & Silver Oak. We were the last guests in the restaurant after 10 p.m., enjoying a great evening. Henry, our waiter, was wonderful, and the food was great as usual. However, the experience was completely overshadowed when the manager, Michael, approached our table to "correct" our language. There were no other guests nearby, no complaints, and we were not being disruptive in any way--we were simply talking among ourselves and may have used a couple of mild curse words. Henry can attest to this. Michael's tone was rude and condescending, and the interaction felt unnecessary and out of line. I'm not sure if he felt the need to say that to us bc we are minorities? I really don't know but he was completely out of place. It's unfortunate that Michael's conduct was the reason this restaurant lost our business. I've email the Regional Manager about this.

The hostess was warm and accommodating, offering to seat me while I waited for my friend. Once she arrived, we were promptly shown to a comfortable booth in the dining room. The floor-to-ceiling windows filled the space with natural light, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. We started with the cheesesteak spring rolls (three per order), which were delicious. They tasted exactly as advertised--gooey cheesesteak filling wrapped in a perfectly crispy spring roll. For our entrees, my friend ordered the short ribs with broccoli instead of risotto, while I chose the Cajun shrimp pasta. The short ribs came with two generous pieces and were incredibly tender. My friend, who always orders short ribs whenever they're on a menu, was thoroughly impressed. The Cajun shrimp pasta was just okay. While it included a generous portion of nicely sized shrimp and the sausage added some much-needed flavor, the dish overall fell short of my expectations. The pasta was cooked slightly past al dente, and I was hoping for more of the bold, spicy kick you'd expect from a Cajun dish, but the flavors never really came through. To top off the evening, our server surprised me with a complimentary birthday dessert, allowing me to choose anything on the menu. That was such a thoughtful touch. We shared the cheesecake, which was served in a half mason jar with whipped cream, a chocolate "Happy Birthday" plaque, and a candle. I requested the blueberry compote on the side since I wasn't sure we'd enjoy it. While it ended up being a bit sweeter than our preference, it complemented the tart cheesecake filling nicely. The only thing that caught me off guard was that the cheesecake was served warmer than expected. On a hot summer evening, I was anticipating a chilled dessert. Overall, I had a fantastic experience. The attentive service, comfortable atmosphere, and the fact that we never felt rushed--even after spending about two and a half hours at dinner--made for a memorable birthday celebration. While my entrée didn't quite hit the mark, I'd gladly return to try another dish with a bolder flavor profile.
