I love Peruvian pollo a la brasa. Of all chains that I've been to, DP wins. The flavors are definitely on point. The rub they use definitely makes the chicken tender and juicy. I normally prefer dark meat but I had white meat and it definitely made me a believer that white meat isn't so bad. Their house made sauce is definitely worth grabbing a few extra for dipping. Plantains were delicious. The corn salsa delicious. Service was good. I recommend eating in at the restaurant. read more

We've come here a number of times and the chicken and bowls have been consistently good. Today, I got a half chicken with two sides - cole slaw and roasted vegis. Shortly after we sat down, our food arrived. (Quicker than normal. It can take a bit if you order a bowl or if the place is crowded. Today it was not busy). The food looked good as it was presented to us. Each meal came with a container of two sauces each - one mild and one spicy. The chicken was cooked well and was nice and juicy. The Cole slaw was good, as were the mashed potatoes. We both thought that some of the vegis (in particular, the broccoli) was overly salty. The vegis brought down what would have been an almost perfect chicken meal. Well orepared, nice, meaty pieces of chicken, large and tasty sides. Just a bit heavy on the salt on the vegis. I'm not going to ding them for the saltiness - some people like that. Overall, a delicious and filling meal. The place is comfortable. Large wooden tables, each table with plastic cutlery in a container and a spool of paper towels. (Things can get messy either way the chicken.). This doesn't happen every time, but our table was bussed by a person I assumed was a manager. Other times, we were invited to leave the plates and trays at the table when we left. The green sauce was more on the spicier & tangier side which I wasn't a fan of. - the sweet fried plantains were made pretty well but I just wish they were a bit softer instead of harder cause that's how I like them. - The fried rice was underwhelming, bland, and mediocre. Tip: add the yellow sauce to it and witness a tasty combination. - the beef empanada was a small, decent snack that went very well with the sauce that came with it. Half chicken with yucca, rice, and beans is my go-to, but anything you get will be a good time. Great location with patio seating it offers a great atmosphere on a hot summer day. What a great restaurant! We came here for the first time on a busy, rainy day and it was just what we needed. This place was fast casual but still had a hole-in-the-wall feel. You choose your drinks before ordering and they have a variety of international and regular drinks to choose from. The lady who took our order was very nice and explained the menu thoroughly, and we didn't go wrong by listening to her suggestions on what to get. There are a LOT of options on the menu, but we both did the 1/4 chicken + 2 sides because of all choices of sides (we did macaroni and cheese, plantains, chaufa, and fries as well as the cucumber salad) as well as a cheese and a chicken empanada. Everything was absolutely delicious - the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sides were all tasty in their own way, and the 2 provided sauces were also flavorful. Honestly, even for 4 people, we could have gotten away with the 4 person meal but were entertaining and wanted the extra variety on sides and just be sure we had enough. We placed our order and decided to take it home. The chicken was cooked to perfection - it was tender, moist, and full of flavor. We also enjoyed the sides the Yucca, macaroni and cheese, black beans, rice, and fried plantains. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and moist, but it lacked a bit in terms of flavor. Along with that, we also ordered a cheese empanada and a beef empanada. Both of them were delectable. Initially, we weren't given our empanadas, but the person who took our order saw how quickly we were leaving and ran after us to make we came back to the counter fetched for the empanadas. We were impressed by the customer service and the speed at which our order was prepared. The place was also very clean. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it to others. Their food options are better, more flavorful, and delivered hot quickly to your table. The menu here has items other Don Pollos don't, and the environment is a bit more refined. I wasn't too fond of their tamales, but their chicken, their rice and beans, Tres, leches, their corn, pico to Gallo, mini, good options. I would have to say, though the fact that they removed, they are green beans with onions, which was one of my favorites, may have to do with the cost and availability. At first, I used to get the half chicken with 2 sides, but I started to try different items on the menu to see if I would like something even more. That led me to trying the Grilled Chicken Salad - a salad that comes with a spring mix, avocados, and grilled chicken - with a lime cilantro dressing. Delicious. The next time, I tried to the chicken rice bowl which contains rice, chicken, beans, and a mix of different diced vegetables, and corn. This is also amazing. I came here today with a friend for lunch. It's down the street from our office. I got the 1/4 dark chicken with fried rice and coleslaw. I wasn't sure if I would like the coleslaw as some places make it bland or there's not enough dressing, but it was very good here. The chicken and fried rice was good too. The portion of the chicken was on the smaller side, but I find that to be the case at most restaurants. I also ordered the flan which was tasty, but more thicker than what I am accustomed to when I make it from a box recipe. We arrived around 1:30 and I was surprised at how most tables were filled. The employee who took our order was friendly. When she brought out our order I asked if I could swap one of the sauces, and she kindly did so by bringing it out to our table. Note that the shopping center has an elongated parking lot so you may be walking farther down way past the restaurant. For my first visit it made a favorable impression with its good food and customer service. I definitely plan to be back. read more

The half chicken was hot and juicy, while the crispy skin tasted great with the mild sauce. Rice and corn were okay but I should've gotten yuca and plantains which is always my go to. The empanadas were filled with chicken and flavorful. There's plenty of spaces to sit inside, and their soda selection is impressive. The food came to our table within 10 mins which was impressive. I've tried the white meat half chicken with yuka and fries and the chicken rice bowl topped with corn, tomatoes and avocados with their special sauce. The sauce is very tasty and I love how they added avocados! Definitely higher quality than a chipotle chicken rice bowl. Pollo saltado (chicken pieces fries tomato pepper in a chicken gravy and rice) the chicken nuggets were burned slightly via grill and threw off the flavoring for me. This place has had great food for years, but they've really been particularly great during COVID times given the ease of online ordering here, the speed with which they put an order together, and the excellence across the menu. The chicken is fantastic on its own (on par with El Pollo Rico or Sardi's, great char on the outside and tender juiciness inside) or in/alongside other dishes. The grilled chicken salad is particularly delicious, with avocado and chickpeas and a really flavorsome and distinctive lime cilantro dressing. It's been a once-a-week (at least) must get for me and it's been great every single time. As for the sides, the chaufa and mac and cheese are my favorites, though frankly, I usually just get an extra quarter chicken because it's too delicious to pass up. read more

It was pretty good and similar to Sardi's, but their chicken are smaller in size and the portions were generally smaller. Last night we chose to take a break from cooking, and visited Don Pollo in Gaithersburg, MD. We spent $60 of takeout food, and ordered for (4) chicken dinners. Unfortunately, when we arrived home with our food, we could not eat the food because the chicken undercooked and raw! One of orders the chicken meat was dry, the black beans were hard, and the rice was undercooked as well! Also one order had human hair mixed in the rice and beans. The plantains were soaked in oil, and we had to discard the food because as hungry as were I think it's safe to say, getting sick from potential food poisoning for eating undercook food is not a risk we were willing to take. Our takeaway from this food experience: 1) perhaps food handlers should wear hair nets and gloves; and 2) management should conduct consistent quality checks by ensuring the chicken is cooked at the appropriate cooking temperatures. On a positive note the customer service was good!! But the food was bad!!! Regardless of where you get your takeout, always inspect your food before you leave!!! read more

I *phoned* the order into the actual restaurant and verified the price with the person that took the order AT the restaurant!!! She confirmed the price was correct and admitted it to the manager!!! But the manager wouldn't honor the price her own employee stated! I've told everyone I run into, friend or otherwise that I see in the shopping center about this experience and several will never go there again. Bad news travels fast! Customer loyalty is what keeps people in business. You have none. You are not the only restaurant in the area ... As a Peruvian Chicken restaurant, the food is great. One of my favorite places to get chicken from. But on today's visit I got food Togo and they are now charging a "Packing Fee". I find this ridiculous ?! We are trying to support restaurants and these types of restaurants are a mainly carry out restaurants. They are charging 5% PACKING fee. UpdMay 2022 I went in ordered a half chicken with two sides. Requested dark meat only. Order took about 20min to be ready. Once I got home I opened my food just to find 1/4 chicken not the 1/2 I paid for. Another Update: June 23 2022 I don't know why I keep coming here to just find something else wrong.
