Tres Leches
Yixin L.

A good place to have a nice quick meal where you order at the cash register and can sit inside to have a meal. When getting any dish with steak, it can be a hit or miss on if it's cooked well and soft. I'm glad we took the chance and got the delicious steak quesadilla as the steak was cooked soft and tender with mozzarella cheese. It came with diced tomato, sour cream, and guacamole on the side. You can also choose from 2 types of sauces. If you order a burrito or quesadilla, you can add a side for an extra $2. We got the Mac and cheese which the pasta was cooked till very soft. We also got the salchipapa, basically French fries with sliced hot dogs which is usually a favorite for small kids. I appreciated that we can get unlimited refills on the soda. The tres leches was delicious and I would definitely come back to get more. If you like even sweeter desserts, the flan was dense and very sweet. But perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

The Veggie Burrito

I had a veggie burrito. I liked it and thought the amount of food was good for the price. I can't speak for the ambiance or service because I got my food to go. The menu isn't particularly unique, but it'd be easy for anyone to find something they like.

Ordered here for dinner. We order lomo Saltado, chicken with fries and Brussels sprout. The best Brussels sprout side dish I've had so far! Everything was flavorful, better than most Peruvian chicken places around. Recommend!

Green Beans and Onions

My partner and I came here one evening last week and ordered the Whole Chicken with Three Sides. We ordered it, ate some at the restaurant and took much home. It's a lot of food. And a better value than if two people come in and each order a half chicken with two small sides. The chicken was moist and juicy, with a nice seasoning. The sides we got - mashed potatoes, green beans and Brussels sprouts - were each a nice sized portion and very good. They were out of Brussels sprouts and made us a fresh batch. Could have used a bit more balsamic, but good. I recall the Cole slaw was good from a previous visit. They have a number of other sides that all look good and I'll have to try in the future. They have a green and white sauce in small containers. Each is pretty spicy, but also flavorful. Really good rotisserie chicken and sides here. The people here were friendly and accommodating.

Although it was mostly empty when we visited on a weekday evening, the venue and convenient location are appealing. Friendly staff and fair prices, what's not to like. Being first time here, and not knowing the regular portions and size of the chicken, we ordered the whole chicken family meal with 3 sides. It was much more than we could handle. The chicken was good. I think he gave us an extra piece (leftover?) and perhaps that's why we had so much. The Brussels Sprouts was the star of the place - sweet and savory, delicious. 5 stars! We changed our mind at the last minute, and decided to eat in. Can't say it's the cold temperature, but the chicken was cold to the touch for some reason. Maybe it was the extra piece we got. Regardless, it's worth a trip, and will visit again when I have a craving for Peruvian cuisine.

The chicken is pretty good, the sides are probably better than the chicken. You can get a chicken and 2 sides for about $30. You can go to giant and get a chicken and 2 sides for $10. Is Poyoteca better, yes. Is Poyoteca $20 better, not even close. They really bother me with the sauce cups. I included pictures of the thimble of sauce they put in the containers. I asked for more and they made me pay extra for 6 more containers. I was able to pour the contents of all 6 containers in to 1 container. This is a complete scam and ripoff.

Last night, we tried Poyoteca for the first time to celebrate our dog's birthday because chicken is her favorite food. Well, at least that was my excuse to finally order from here. As much as everyone hated on food delivery services, Poyoteca gets bonus points for partnering with GrubHub because it made our lives so much easier yesterday. Everything arrived hot and fresh. We got the family meal with a few other sides, and nothing disappointed. The one salad we ordered wasn't our thing (a lot of small, cubed vegetables in Mayo) but we thoroughly enjoyed everything else. For $40-$50, we've had enough food for both is us to last at least two meals. Zero complaints here.

1/2 Chicken

I'm not sure I've ever had bad Peruvian chicken, but the version at Poyoteca is particularly delicious, tender, succulent, perfectly spiced and cooked. The skin has just a hint of crackle and seals in an incredibly juicy interior. The yellow and green sauces become almost an afterthought with a bird this good, though when added, they somehow improve upon perfection, which seems logically impossible and yet it is so. The sides I've tried are all solid, and the chaufa and Brussels and carrots (the latter of which is in a soy-like salty/sweet sauce) are my favorites. Great value, great food, and one of the best-smelling places you could ever hope to be.

I ordered carryout, including a pulled chicken Gordita, a pulled goat meat Gordita for the same amount, some chicken tacos (soft flour shell with white meat grilled, chopped chicken topped with very little), and the Tacos Dorados (fried tacos stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with green salsa and cheese). Pictures are from when I got home with my food. Needless to say, for $32 or so (which includes a 20% tip), I had enough food for 3 meals. The Gorditas, while not necessarily healthy, definitely fill you up. The Tacos Dorados were very good for a late night, post drinking (water, of course!), dinner, and the chicken tacos were excellent for a next-day lunch. Accompanying my food were two different sauces -- a red sauce that did not have much flavor, but was scorching hot on the palette and a green sauce that was very tasty and moderate in heat. Overall, an outstanding choice for authentic Mexican food that was very, very good.

This place left a great impression on me. ***on a side note, they have a taco Tuesday deal, 3 tacos for $10 :)

They have a nice private back room for private events or their comedy shows. The main restaurant has a nice bar area and TV's for football or whatever sport. I always got the same thing, the enchiladas. Food is solid. Prices are reasonable here, which was a nice change in the 2020's. What I realized in 2024 was the enchiladas and plates are kind of on the smaller side. When I think of sit-down Mexican restaurants, I think of hearty meals, but this wasn't so hearty. I was hungry several hours later that night in 2024. In January 2025, I was here for a friend's birthday party and remembered that the portions are smaller than typical Mexican restaurants, so I added a bean pupusa to my enchilada plate, which was excellent, even better than the enchiladas, which are solid. It was a little chaotic with the number of people there, and the awkward table setup. It would've been better having that backroom, but there was a comedy show or something happening that night in there, so we made do with the long high tables put together in the middle of the restaurant. Service has always been good here overall in terms of friendliness, but a couple of times when things ran a bit slow. Also, beer pitchers were cheap too. I remember the couple of events where people split including at the January 2025, my friend's brother & his wife split beer with me. Overall, it's a good local business in the area. In spite of a few flaws, mostly good & would return again in the future.

The food is fresh and they have a complementary salsa bar. I ordered the Baja burrito with chicken. It was humongous and was easily more than 1 meal. The tortilla was toasted on the outside and filled with pico de gallo (fresh tomatoes, cilantro and onions), shredded lettuce, cheese and guacamole (no extra charge for the guacamole). The chicken was char grilled chicken breast chunks and made the the majority of the burrito, nicely cooked. What I liked was that it wasn't sauce laden and soggy, nor did the contents leak out. The meal came with a small order of warm tortilla chips. The salsa verde from the salsa bar went well with the chips and the burrito (was medium spice).

I…read morereally like Baja Fresh, but the one near me in Hanover, MD closed, so now Rockville is the closest location about 23 miles the most direct way from my home. I think Baja Fresh does an excellent job on how they make the tortillas. So, the best things to get here are the burrito and quesadilla. I got the chicken quesadilla for lunch yesterday as I didn't want to overeat as I was going to a dinner event that night although it was still a bit more filling than I thought with the chips & salsa included too along with the guacamole & sour cream that comes with the quesadilla. So, why a 3-star review here (& not 4 or 5)? When I walked in a little before 1 PM, it was very hot in there. It was a hot summer day, and the AC should've been going. I didn't say anything at first as I was trying to get the order in and get my $5 off deal to go through. Then, I was focused on getting my water, salsa, etc. I got my chicken quesadilla and started to eat, but I was uncomfortable & angry about the heat in there. I got up and told the cashier (who was nice) it's very hot in here, and this is completely unacceptable. She apologized, and she got another staff member to unlock the thermostat to turn on AC. Afterward, I looked, and it was 85 F inside. Towards the end of my meal, it was starting to feel a bit of cool air, but still hot in there. While I appreciate, they were quick to act to turn on the AC. I question why was the AC off for the 1st 2.5 hours of the day they were open?! It wasn't because the AC wasn't working. There was another customer eating in there who didn't speak up about it. But even for the people taking the food to go, still had to wait in the heat in there. Other positives: The cashier was nice and offered me the courtesy cup of water without me asking. I had my own reusable water bottle as well. So, that was much appreciated on her part. Conclusion: So, the lack of AC (when working too) pissed me off, was totally unacceptable, but at least they acted quickly to turn on. This could've been a health issue especially for sensitive groups. However, considering the food was great & cashier was very nice, and also, I didn't want to give a 2-star as I don't want the Rockville location to close too (after Hanover closed). Only 2 in MD (not counting hospital location) Rockville & Timonium and 1 in Fairfax, VA. Rockville is the only one there's a small chance I'd make to it, so I want them to stay open.
