A solid and reliable fast casual joint specializing in Tex-Mex cuisine. Dining and order space is clean and comfortable. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous and staff is friendly. The food is fresh and they have a complementary salsa bar. I ordered the Baja burrito with chicken. It was humongous and was easily more than 1 meal. The tortilla was toasted on the outside and filled with pico de gallo (fresh tomatoes, cilantro and onions), shredded lettuce, cheese and guacamole (no extra charge for the guacamole). The chicken was char grilled chicken breast chunks and made the the majority of the burrito, nicely cooked. What I liked was that it wasn't sauce laden and soggy, nor did the contents leak out. Ive been coming here for lunch for years and it always hits the spot. The food is always Fresh. I usually get the nacho burrito with chicken and guacamole and it always comes out really hot, the tortilla is nicely toasted with a slight char. Wanted to give an update to this. I got a $5 off to use as they hadn't seen me in a while. I really like Baja Fresh, but the one near me in Hanover, MD closed, so now Rockville is the closest location about 23 miles the most direct way from my home. I think Baja Fresh does an excellent job on how they make the tortillas. So, the best things to get here are the burrito and quesadilla. I got the chicken quesadilla for lunch yesterday as I didn't want to overeat as I was going to a dinner event that night although it was still a bit more filling than I thought with the chips & salsa included too along with the guacamole & sour cream that comes with the quesadilla. So, why a 3-star review here (& not 4 or 5)? When I walked in a little before 1 PM, it was very hot in there. It was a hot summer day, and the AC should've been going. I didn't say anything at first as I was trying to get the order in and get my $5 off deal to go through. Then, I was focused on getting my water, salsa, etc. I got my chicken quesadilla and started to eat, but I was uncomfortable & angry about the heat in there. I got up and told the cashier (who was nice) it's very hot in here, and this is completely unacceptable. She apologized, and she got another staff member to unlock the thermostat to turn on AC. Afterward, I looked, and it was 85 F inside. Towards the end of my meal, it was starting to feel a bit of cool air, but still hot in there. While I appreciate, they were quick to act to turn on the AC. I question why was the AC off for the 1st 2.5 hours of the day they were open?! It wasn't because the AC wasn't working. There was another customer eating in there who didn't speak up about it. But even for the people taking the food to go, still had to wait in the heat in there. Other positives: The cashier was nice and offered me the courtesy cup of water without me asking. I had my own reusable water bottle as well. So, that was much appreciated on her part. Conclusion: So, the lack of AC (when working too) pissed me off, was totally unacceptable, but at least they acted quickly to turn on. This could've been a health issue especially for sensitive groups. However, considering the food was great & cashier was very nice, and also, I didn't want to give a 2-star as I don't want the Rockville location to close too (after Hanover closed). Only 2 in MD (not counting hospital location) Rockville & Timonium and 1 in Fairfax, VA. Rockville is the only one there's a small chance I'd make to it, so I want them to stay open. read more

Sunday 3/17/2024 I've always known about Baja Fresh but I don't think I've ever had it until now when they sent me a $10 store credit birthday reward that I made sure to use. Using my birthday reward, I got the chicken burrito ultimo for around $12. The burrito was significantly smaller than I expected for a near 12$ price tag but luckily I only had to pay around $2 out of pocket. When comparing to other fast food Mexican spots, I'd get way more food at Chipotle for less price. The food is alright but nothing I would nesscarily come back for unless I have a reward to use. As noted before, they do give you a birthday reward if you are signed up on the app which is always appreciated. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food here. It's a nice alternative to Chipotle and Qdoba if you're looking for something new for fast Tex Mex food. Price is ok since they give you chips and free choice of salsa along with your food. It's also super quick with nice service. read more

They had a remodel, and I was hoping that they would improve in every aspect, but I was disappointed. I had a coupon that was about to expire. The cashier Rosa V. Coupon says free burrito with purchase of a large drink. She gave me a hard time and would only take off $5.91 off. Called over the guy working the grill, and I explained what the coupon stated. Both said they can't take off any more because the register will be short, etc. This is very misleading and deceptive. If you don't want to honor coupons, don't email customers and turn around to mislead them. It was late and I was too tired to go somewhere else. The salsa bar was sad. They used to offer Mini Jalapeños, mango salsa, cilantro. They had no limes!! What are we supposed with lemons?? What a joke! They used to have a full salsa bar with all the fixings for your tacos and burritos. The flavors lack. The salsas used to be thicker consistency. Now, it's more watery . The tortilla chips are different and more bland. They used to be airier and crispy. They are bland. My baja burrito was disappointing, It fell apart after my 2nd bite. Their upper management reached out to me after my survey, I was impressed with how they rectified my issues. Which is why, I'm giving them 3 stars. The service I'm sure will improve. I recently visited Baja Fresh at 302 King Farm Blvd, Stev 150 and had no complaints about the food--it was decent. However, I was very disappointed to learn something afterward that changed my view of this business entirely. Apparently, the tips customers leave do not go to the cashiers, cooks, or other staff--they go directly to the owner. This feels incredibly unfair, especially since it's usually front-line workers and kitchen staff who work hard and rely on those tips to supplement their income. If you're leaving a tip here thinking you're supporting the hardworking staff, you're not--you're just giving more to the owner. Customers deserve to know this. I hope the restaurant reconsiders this practice and starts treating its employees more fairly. read more

It's been awhile since I have eaten here and when I saw a groupon offer for $15 value towards food and drinks for $10, I couldn't resist. I love Groupon! I arrived on a Tuesday around 11:45 am. There were very few patrons at that time. I checked out the menu and decided on Baja Wahoo Crisp taco combo which came with rice and beans (black or pinto). I made it a meal which included chips and a fountain soda for $3.99. The total came out to $14.28. A bit pricy for fast casual dining, but it's a fairly generous portion. Dora, was my server and she was as friendly and helpful as can be. She greeted me, answered my questions, smiled, and had a friendly tone. After I received my order and sat down, I went back to the counter to ask for some sour cream and she got me some. She was very pleasant and exhibited exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, I found the food to be just average. The wahoo could have been crispier and I don't like corn tortilla, I only like flour tortilla, so I only ate the fish. The chips didn't taste fresh. The highlight for me were the queso and rice. I'm surprised when I left around 12:15 the restaurant was fairy full. For the price I paid, I would prefer Chipotle or Qdoba even though Baja Fresh offers items on their menu like fish tacos and taquitos that the other restaurants don't. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised with this place! I'd never been to this chain before, but the food was extremely good and the service was great. Cute little salsa bar, fast service, very good food with large portions. Lovely clean and modern dining room that is a pleasant place to sit with a friend for lunch. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating I have a severe shellfish allergy, and they were very helpful and accommodating in making sure my food was cooked on foil and new tongs were used than what have been used with the shellfish. They were really nice about it, which is refreshing because oftentimes I am made to feel like I am just trying to feel "special" or that I am purposely inconveniencing people when I say I have a severe food allergy. Terrible Service and very lazy. I came in around 8:00 at night and ordered my food they gave me old lettuce and the tomato was soggy and falling apart. On top of that the beans were cold. It seemed like they just rushed and did anything to my food bc it was night. Keep in mind they close at 10pm . I dont see why they couldnt take their time and make it appropriately like how they should have done. I also ordered sour cream on side with nacho chips and they didnt put it in the bag. and unfortunately i did not check the bag bc of how rushed i felt. When i got home thats when i realized everything i ordered wasnt done or packed correctly. The food looked so old and was cold. So i didnt even bother eating it. Anyways the next day I returned to the store to take it back. And asked for my money to be returned to me. The women there went and talked to three other people and all of them one by one asked me oh what was wrong with it? I told them my issue. And the questions just continued left to right. At this moment im feeling like im taking the SATS. Just ridiculous how they kept asking me the same questions over and over. I told them from the start my issue and what I would like back which was my money !! Easy and a simple fix !! The guy who gave me my money back finally just walked away and went in the other cashier and kept giving me this dirty look like he didnt want to give me my cash back. Which is so weird bc i didnt even eat any of the food.All of the old food that they gave me was still there.. Nestled in a residential community in King Farm, this Baja Fresh has plenty of lot and street parking. The interior was really quiet and depressing because of COVID everyone ordering to go. The staff were friendly and competent and knew how to answer questions I had about their burritos' ingredients and vegetarianness. Customers were being served out of order and UberEats and other delivery people kept cutting in line to the one cashier to ask for their clients' food orders. For $18, we got two huge burritos (nacho burrito and diablo burrito). Mine lasted me two meals so not bad! The taste was great--fresh & flavorful! Not too many Baja Fresh locations left (the Wheaton one closed). I dunno if this is considered a small business but I had a gift card to use so we came here for Sunday dinner. read more

Great, friendly, and fast service. Large variety on the menu including impossible meat that looked like beef substitute on the menu photo. For this visit, I enjoyed a tasty Baja Steak Bowl. The meat was tender and flavorful like I remember it to be. The bowl had ample toppings over the rice. And, the fresh made salsa was delicious as always. Top tier food, amazing service, absolutely perfect and I would come here again and again. This was my first time at a Baja Fresh and I loved how truly fresh all the ingredients were - you could tell that the salsas were made from scratch daily and the lettuce and tomatoes were bright and crisp / juicy. We tried the veggie nachos and quesadilla - both were excellent. The nachos were loaded with toppings (sautéed fajita veggies, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, melty cheese) and the absolute best part for me (and my fellow cilantro-gene folks) was that the guacamole is made fresh daily WITHOUT CILANTRO! It is so so hard to find guacamole at any restaurant without cilantro, which is why I avoid it at Chipotle, Qdoba, Taco Bell, and almost all Mexican restaurants, but it was amazing that this guacamole was cilantro-free and I could enjoy it to my heart's content (the owner mentioned that they get lots of customers who don't like cilantro and so they try to accommodate diverse preferences). The chips were crispy and delicious, the queso was creamy and melty, and overall the meal was tasty, savory, and so satisfying. I will definitely be returning to this Baja Fresh and recommend it to anyone as the perfect spot for a quick, delicious, and fresh meal on a lunch break or night out with family or friends. read more

I've always been a fan of Baja Fresh so I was sad to see them slowly start closing in my area. A few days ago I found out that the King Farm location is still open so I made it my mission to be reunited with my quesadilla lover. For those who have never been, the highlight of this place is their salsa bar. They offer about 5-6 choices that vary in spiciness and really take the food to the next level. Baja Fresh also advertises that they do not use any microwaves or frozen products so the food is always really fresh. Even the chips they give away for free are really good and freshly fried inside the restaurant. If you plan on dining in I highly recommend getting the nachos with chicken added to it. Warning: don't take these to go because they will be a soggy nightmare by the time you get home. For folks that don't have time to wait in line the Baja Fresh app is also super easy to use. You can make customizations and large orders with ease. I've never had an issue eating at any of the locations but now you can find me at this lone surviving restaurant. read more

With customer service recently lacking somewhat, yesterday's visit to redeem an expiring Groupon was great. Nora was very nice and gladly took care of the redemption without any hesitation. You know how some places immediately frown when you pull out a Groupon or Living Social coupon? Not Nora. My son loves the chicken taquitos and I always go for the shrimp fajitas. Plenty of food for 3 people. This location is in a nice little center in King Farm with plenty of parking out front. We only had 6 adults and there was barely enough steak and chicken for us, and the volume did not look like the picture. It definitely would not have been enough for 10. Yet there was a huge amount of rice and beans. At like $14 per head there should have been more meat. It's disappointing, especially since we had the exact same thing at a different party, from the same place, 3 days earlier and there was quite a bit more meat.
