This place is so good for Korean chicken I would def recommend as we've frequented a few times now. We get the garlic chicken drumsticks which are flavored so well - and my cat agrees. read more

Looking for good Korean fried chicken here in MD. Just moved from SoCal. This place was recommended and we were in the area and gave it a try. A nice restaurant tucked in a plaza. Ambiance is okay but who goes to eat fried chicken for that. Tv screens showing Kpop and Korean shows. The wait staff was busy watching more than serving. And actual drink displays of what they offer for drinks were on the walls. We ordered the regular fried chicken and the super spicy one. The chicken comes hot ( temperature). The breading on the chicken is not as crispy as other places. More hard from more flour. Perhaps that's why it's crunchy thru ever bite. The spicy wings were indeed spicy. My wife who loves spicy thought it was spicy. So I knew I was going to die from them. The small amount of pickled daikon was quite small. 3.5 stars. We are still big fans of Bb.q chicken Prob won't be going back here. read more

Soy garlic wings are my go-to. I love the sauce the chicken has and the taste is miraculously scrumptious. I go to Chicken Pocha from time and time again. Service is amazing. Korean owners are so nice. I love the ambiance of the place. Beautifully set light fixtures and decorations and a couple TVs displaying Korean music videos or a Korean TV show. Amazing experience! Worth it! read more

The interior decor has been updated a little bit with beautiful photos featuring of some of their flavored fried Chicken. Apparently they have a garlic spicy chicken flavor but when we went to order it we were told it uses the Yangnyeom spice flavor (we were already ordering that as our other flavour). I'll have to remember this for the next time I visit. What we got: Garlic Soy & Yangnyeom - 5* exceptional as always. I have reviewed both of these flavors in past reviews. Smoked dumplings (red hot) - 4* they had a kick to them! read more

When I'm craving for chicken, I come here. I never have second thoughts, always enjoy their smoked chicken. The picked radish is another I enjoy but most specially addicted to their creamy onion. The owners are usually there when I go. Very friendly and always smiling. I feel at home. The place is clean and the Korean show is always on. Come try it! read more

One of my favorite chicken dishes. It is always delicious. The place has like a mom and pop vibes. The service is excellent.

Ordered take out on at night because I was craving Korean fried chicken. The shop was small and cute, and also the workers were very nice. I wanted to try something new and so I was very excited. I ordered the whole chicken and got flavors curry and white creamy onion. I enjoyed the curry, which was cooked and seasoned well and delicious. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the white creamy onion as much. The flavor was extremely strong, which is fine, but I didn't like how the chicken became soggy very quickly. I am willing to try it again, but order the wings and get other sauces. Always willing to receive suggestions! read more

I gave Chicken Pocha a try after hearing the praise from some fellow Yelpers and it did not disappoint! My husband and I shared curry chicken wings, garlic soy drumsticks, and red pepper sauce. The pieces were huge with a light coating of sauce. The curry were the best curry wings I've ever had. The garlic soy was also good, maybe needs a tad more sauce. Red pepper sauce didn't add anything for me but husband liked it. Radish also was cut unevenly which means they probably cut it in house. Service was polite and seemed like a family run restaurant. There was a kdrama playing in the background. I would come back! read more

Delicious! Ideally you'd eat it right away when it's crispy - the transport time resulted in slightly moist breading but it was super tasty nonetheless. Something to keep in mind in case you plan on feeding it to small children - the breading has a kick even if the sauce does not. That said it's not that spicy but might be for those 5 years and younger. Of course all kids have their own tolerance so ymmv read more

So I haven't been here for almost 3 years now. It is a mom and pop shop now rather than a chain. It maintains its characteristic from before in terms of food. I'm glad they didn't start cutting corners. The chicken is the full amount rather than cutting more thinly. You get the full volume of the chicken breast and the drumstick and the thighs. For the price now, it is worth it. The sauce could be a bit thicker as I thought it was a bit too watery, but I wonder if that would make the sauce too overpowering. The chicken batter is all the same through the choices, it is the sauce that changes. The inside is definitely a mom and pop type ambiance with the stock just being exposed to the public. They do have a good bit of tables and if you want that drink and have fried chicken or tteokbokki or some instant ramen or fries, this place actually hits that ambiance - if you want more of a Korean drama scenery. I am just happy this place retained its flavor and amount through the years without being too expensive . I left happy as I got what I wanted. Oh! The mom and pop duo were nice. Can't forget about that. read more

Amazing fried chicken spot in the Germantown area. Ordered here and got their spicy wings and spring onion wings. I was so surprised about the spring onion wings, definitely one of my favorites I've had in a while! The onions work well with the fried chicken to provide a great contrast. The restaurant itself was clean and service was fast. 1000% would recommend ! read more

Formerly Choong Man then CM chicken. Although the name has changed, the service and food is still great! They do not deliver themselves but you can find them on multiple food delivery apps. My friends and I didn't realize that we ordered pick up on their site and let it sit about an hour before we went to pick it up. We ordered the soy garlic and the white onion wings. Both were still warm and crunchy even though they had been sitting for an hour! read more

I was so excited to try out a new Korean Fried chicken place but shortly realized they rebranded from Choongman Chicken. I believe it is now a family owned restaurant with other delicious Korean dishes as well. We decided to get the Regular Chicken and the Spicy one. My favorite was the spicy chicken. It was super flavorful but almost a bit too saucey. The curly fries were pretty good. I would give this a 3 stars because the chicken meat was very dry and chewy. I would've enjoyed it more if the meat was juicy. read more

Another great meal at Chicken Pocha. I had the smoked red hot wings. Seasoned well, a bit of heat and a nice crunch. These had a good smoked flavor. They were 8 large wings and cooked to perfection. We ordered the wings on-site and to go. The service was great and we waited inside for our order to be cooked. When ordering the wings, be sure to eat them when they are hot. You don't want to travel too far away as they cool. read more

I Love the snow onion chicken. I order that every time i go here. I do recommend trying all the other flavors as you really cant go wrong.

We haven't got chicken here since the name change. So we ordered takeout and got the soy smoked chicken and Gochujang (Korean hot peppers) chicken. The chicken itself was good, love Korean chicken for their double fry and they were still pretty crunchy after bringing it home. I wish there was more smoked flavor from the soy smoked chicken. The gochujang flavor was pretty good but it could have been a bit spicier. They don't include free radish with the orders anymore. Overall, honestly still the best Korean fried chicken in the area. read more

Finally... I finally arrived to check this spot out! You know I'll never turn down the opportunity to try new Korean Fried Chicken! I had somewhere else to be, so I pulled up the menu online, hit the road and called ahead. I saw that they had smoky flavors, so I asked for a recommendation. The smoky red hot are recommended for people who like spicy, so I was like why not?? I put in that order and they were ready by the time I arrived. The place itself has some tables for seating and a bunch of juices and such that you can grab. Seemed pretty chill! I paid, grabbed my wings and then went down the street to meet some friends. I opened the wings, and they were nice and hot... and ooooh, that CRUNCH! I had never had a smoky flavor with KFC before, so it was quite something (in a good way). The sauce was delicious, and it wasn't obnoxiously overflowing on the wings. I definitely felt the heat after. I nibbled on the radishes too, and I enjoyed everything so much that I am thrilled to return! The staff were really kind and I'm itching to try the soy garlic wings and their other menu items. They have dumplings too! read more

Came here with my brother for lunch, split the Tteokbokki and the Yangnyeom chicken. I've only had the frozen trader joes Tteokbokki before and this one was definitely significantly more flavorful than that version and the gochujang flavored sauce was very nice and although I realize now I am not a bit rice cake / fish cake fan I still enjoyed the fish. The Yangnyeom chicken was definitely the star of the show, before this I have only had Korean Fried Chicken from Bonchon and this was noticeably much better than that, would definitely come back just for this. Can't speak toward service/ambience as I got takeout--ordered the soy garlic tenders bc it was the #1 recommended pick and was sad to find out they're just grocery store tenders with a little sauce drizzled on them... I guess I should have known, but the last time I ordered here was a couple pf years ago and food quality was much higher. Radish was pretty good, kimchi was eh. Would probably not order again read more

We love their chicken! Friday is our day for easy take out, and in the past, my husband would always choose some kind of chicken place and I would pick Asian food. I don't love fried chicken as he does, however, when I tried chicken pocha's chicken, I found myself ordering from the same spot. The first time I saw all the onions that came with the Snow Chicken which is what I always order, I thought wow! Who eats that much onions! But now, the onions serve as my salad, the chicken is delicious and the white sauce blends perfectly making it absolutely delicious! My husband tries their different chicken flavors and he likes them all. Owners/staff are friendly and we love that! Hubby hasn't had Popeyes since I suggested to try this Chicken Pocha (previously Choong Man)! read more

The garlic soy chicken had a flavor that really stood out -- savory, slightly sweet, and packed with a unique depth that you don't find in typical party dishes. First time customer at this Korean Fried Chicken restaurant. Dropped by to order some food to go. Got an order of Spicy Chicken and regular ones, with some rice and radish. The order took about 25 mins, so we had to wait inside. The Korean owners were really nice and courteous. Prices are a little high compared to the portion and sizes of the Chicken pieces. But taste-wise, pretty good. Tasted the food once we got home and liked it very much! Good fried chicken!! I can recommend this place to others... read more

What a gem! I have been here multiple times and I've never been disappointed with the food, service, or ambiance. The tteokbokki is spicy and has a lot of fish cakes. The dumplings are crispy and something I order every time. They are super tasty. The spicy pork fried rice is good too. The chicken is always juicy and hot! I've tried the original, curry, garlic soy, yangnyeom, mustard lemon green onion, and the white creamy onion and it's honestly hard to say which is my favorite because they are all delicious. They all satisfy different cravings! The owners are the ones who serve you and are very attentive. It's clear that they want you to enjoy your time and want you to be satisfied. I've never felt rushed. Tables are cleaned quickly after guests leave and the floor is always clean. This place can be perfect for a fun date night or for a group hang out with friends. read more

Chicken has always tasted great and been consistent. very juicy for being fried! I have not gotten any of the other item on the menu as they are known for fried chicken so stay with the classics. I ordered from Chicken Pocha via UberEats on a rainy night and was blown away by the smoke soy garlic chicken wings. The chicken was an explosion of flavor - a perfect harmony of sweet, salty, and umami. The chicken wings were exceptionally well-prepared; you could taste the depth of the marinade in every bite, and the meat was incredibly moist. What truly made this chicken stand out was the subtle, yet distinct, smoky aroma and taste. It wasn't overpowering, but rather a complementary layer that elevated the entire dish. I'll definitely be back to try other menu items read more

Korean. Fried chicken yum!! I have to say this was probably the best Korean style wings I had in awhile. I literally stumbled upon this restaurant while checking out the Germantown area. The service was great as well, very welcoming. I loved how they were accommodating once I told them this was my first time at the restaurant. The chicken was sooo good. I had soy garlic wings and curly fries. If you like kimchi they have it on the menu! I will definitely try the other locations. I have to admit I might have a new addiction. read more

If you like spicy, this is the place for you. If you can't handle the heat and are all about that soy garlic flavor, stick with Bonchon. I'm the latter. This was my first time trying Choong Man. We ordered online for pickup through DoorDash. Both their DoorDash page and website menu would benefit from more pictures and better descriptions - these pages were very bare and not very informative for first-timers... tikkudak, say what? Snow onion, who? Our order wasn't immediately ready at the DoorDash estimated time, but we were super prompt for pick-up, so the wait wasn't offensive. Once our order was ready, we were given everything we needed in our bag - napkins, utensils, ketchup for the fries, etc. We opted for the Soy Chicken (wings; $14) and Curry Tikkudak (drumsticks - 5 pieces; $16), along with a side of onion rings ($10) and curly fries ($5). Each chicken entree also comes with a side of pickled daikon. Between the onion rings and curly fries, get the curly fries. For $5, I wasn't expecting much, but we got a whole family-size box - definitely a steal! The onion rings were adequate (nothing special), but cost twice as much as the fries and were for a less impressive portion. As for the chicken (aka the main event), their soy garlic chicken has got some heat! If I didn't know any better, I would think it was their spicy option (it's not... apparently, their spicy is even spicier). The curry tikkudak (aka chicken that is fried and then baked) was equally spicy in my opinion. It was hard for me to discern which was spicier- spicy is spicy! The spiciness overall wasn't completely unbearable, but one piece of each was enough for me. If you have a low spice tolerance, your best bet is to stick with their plain fried chicken... but that's no fun... so go with their signature snow chicken. I didn't know that their snow onion chicken was one of their signatures (same with their tikkudak), but hindsight is 20/20. While waiting for our order, there was a giant poster on the window of their snow onion chicken - fried chicken coated in a creamy white gravy and topped with onions. It definitely caught my eye and I immediately wished that we ordered that. I will give Choong Man another shot just to give their snow onion chicken a try (onion haters, beware). Overall, their spicy chicken is not for me (to include their soy chicken), but I know my family of spice lovers would eat it up. read more

Chicken Pocha - Clockwise from the top left: Garlic Soy Chicken (wings), onion rings, Curly Fries, Curry Tikkudak (drumsticks) - Chicken Wings Near Me - Germantown, Maryland

For what it is, this place is great. My husband and I visited about 5 years ago and it's still a nice spot to grab a quiet, delicious, lunch. Small spot, good food, generous portions, nice staff. It is not fancy and the chicken does take a few minutes to make, but I thought it was worth it! The goechujang (sweet and spicy) wings were tasty. We also enjoyed the garlic soy wings, and snowy onions were a good compliment to the spice. read more

We had just finished the Buffalo Combo - $43 and you get to choose 30 wings (up to three different flavors). We had 10 pieces of the original fried wings, 10 pieces of the gochujang wings, and 10 pieces of the garlic soy wings. The gochujang wings were definitely on the spicier side! The flavors were wonderful. Each bite had a strong combination of flavor, heat, and crunch from the breading. The garlic soy wings were just as tasty. Surprisingly, the wings were still crunchy. The original fried wings were so-so. These wings were definitely crunchier than the garlic soy and gochujang but there was nothing special about the regular flavor. I'm definitely coming back to try the other flavors!! read more

Wanna know what torture is? Torture is picking up this chicken, hot and fresh right from the source, and traveling to Baltimore with it without eating a piece. That's torture. I was under such duress that I had to eat curly fries to stave off the pain. So, I was headed to my friends house in B-more the day I decided to fly by Choong Man in Germantown... I know.... it's really not on the way. But I REALLY did want to try this chicken. I'd been hearing about the elusive snow onion chicken for some time now (which much like it's cousin the snow leopard) is lauded by enthusiasts far and wide. So I picked up the: Snow Onion Chicken Curly Fries Coleslaw 2 sides of the ( I believe they call them) soy scallions and the fried dumplings Everything was tops in my opinion outside of the fried dumplings. I could have done without those. Also, I didn't really end up needing the soy scallion things cause I already had onions on top of the chicken, and adding more would have been onion overload. Just a note, they asked me if I wanted pickled daikon with my order when I picked it up- to which my response was a resounding YES. How to describe the Snow Onion Chicken.... It's super crispy golden double/triple fried chicken with a topping of raw onions mixed in what I'm fairly sure is a mayo/cream based sauce. The sauce is delicious... it is also observing your waistline.... as it grows larger. But the contrast of this thick creamy sauce with the raw onions and freshy hot out of the fryer chicken is something else. Oh and BT dubs: The cashier was very friendly, my order was promptly ready on time and I very much look forward to returning. They seem to be cautious about Covid too which is also a huge plus. read more
