Ya know... I haven't been to Bonchon in YEARS. Ever since I went as a Supper Club with some friends and it took like an hour for our chicken to come out, and when it did come out it was like... mid. And honestly, this wasn't even our first choice for lunch that day lol. We tried to go to Neko Nook cafe (they were sold our of sandwiches), then we tried Kenaki (they had closed cause it was past 3pm), and we found ourselves at Bonchon. I'm kinda glad that things worked out the way they did, cause our meal was DELICIOUS. It was everything my first experience years ago was not. The service was fantastic, friendly, and quick. The chicken came out pretty promptly (partially owing I believe to very few people being in the restaurant) Everything was fresh I'd honestly go back in a heartbeat. We ended up getting a medium size portion of the strips in two flavors (soy garlic and their special limited time flavor). I LOVED the soy garlic, and the limited time flavor... it just didn't match up to how much I loved the soy garlic at the end of the day. Also, just a note - the "Strips" are not like the chicken strips that Americans would think of when they thing of chicken strips. They are sort of like large wing shaped nuggets. Im get to the point... The restaurant was empty.. red flag! Staff not very friendly or welcoming, red flag. After I placed my order, I sat at the table, One staff person conversed with a friend, I guess.. very loud and obnoxious. Again the place was empty, why you have to be so loud? The person brought me my order, and flat out said, you can't eat here, because you ordered it to go. Correction: you never asked me if I wanted to dine in, or take it to go! The restaurant was empty. Had i been offered that option, I would have dined In. My wings, they were supposed to be half soy garlic and yangyum sauce but they weren't. They were all yangyum. Pretty killer fast food. Korean fast food joint. My go to for fried chicken. Since the pandemic they've consolidated in the number of sauces but now offer more Korean food offerings (see the bibimbap fries, which remind me of kimchi fries I used to have at dak and bop in Houston). Service is pretty fast at 610 pm on a Friday, kentlands is busy but not crowded and slow. Ambiance: clean, brightly lit. I've been to Bonchon multiple times before but never for lunch. Their lunch deal has to be one of the best, especially in today's economy! For $12.95, they give you 8 strips and any side. We also got a side of fried rice for $12.95, which is cheaper than their regular dinner price (but looks like their regular portion). We honestly didn't even need the extra side of rice...we were full from the strips and even had leftovers. I will definitely be ordering Bonchon for lunch more often! read more

One order of 4 wings, 2 drums, half soy garlic, half coleslaw + spicy mayo; one order of spicy chicken Korean tacos and Takoyaki (octopus fritters). Easy online ordering and paying, order actually arrived 10 minutes before stated time online. Food was hot and SOOO good! I loved both the soy garlic AND the spicy chicken, but I think I agree with some, the soy garlic won my heart, especially dipped in a bit of the spicy mayo. The coleslaw was a good side, cooling down the spice from the spicy. Boyfriend LOVED the Korean tacos, liked the Takoyaki but not quite as fully. I'm new to the area so I haven't been eating as much, but when I do I scout out places based on my pallet at the time. Yesterday I was in the mood for some chicken wings and Bonchon popped up in my search. I was already nearby in the Kentlands neighborhood, a very trendy neighborhood to walk and check out various restaurants and shops. I ordered the Combo 4 wings 2 drumsticks, spicy and spicy garlic off l the dinner menu. It was very pricey for what you get in my opinion. Anyway, I got home and started eating the wings, then I got to the drumsticks, OMG they were the two largest drumsticks I have ever seen. I almost did not want to eat them, because all I could think of was this chicken had to be on steroids for them to be so large. I regret now not taking pictures to post but trust me when I say they were huge but delicious. It's a cute Korean restaurant with a full bar with TV and music in the background. Unfortunately, there isn't any outside seating but I can see this spot popping off in the Spring and Summer time because it's in a very affluent neighborhood for families to walk to and from home. Came here twice and did take out. They did not include my pickled radish that I even specifically asked for in my instructions. I shouldn't even be asking. It should already come with the strips. 3.5 stars. So glad a Korean spot opened in the Kentlands. they have a good deal - family meal. Includes 12 wings, 6 drumsticks, 2 sides (we got fries and coleslaw), and fried rice. We ordered the meal on their website and came out fast In 25 minutes. My gold standard for Korean wings is BBQ chicken. You just can't beat it. Their tteokbokki is so spicy and good. Wings are money and fries good. Back to Bonchon. It has lots of potential. Maybe it will taste better at the restaurant. They don't have enough sauce in their soy garlic sauce imo. They are almost there! They don't even give daikon like all the other Bonchon's. It's a side item. On the plus side, wings are good size and less fatty then others. A grave disappointment. Excited to order the 8 piece fried chicken strips and seasoned fries after seeing a television interview. Nothing like what I saw. I will not be back! Isn't fried chicken supposed to be crispy? This chicken was dry and tough (overcooked? Or is this the way it's supposed to be???) and although the seasoned fries were crispy they were way too salty! I had Korean fried chicken years ago in California and it was crispy and tender and I anticipated this local version to be just as good. But it was a total FAIL. Again, it was not crispy and it was tough and dried out. $32.90 including tax and tip for chewy and tough fried chicken tenders. I don't waste food. Kentland's Bonchon has become a regular location for me. It has great lunch specials on weekdays until 2:30, great value for the price. Honestly, I have trouble finishing both the wings and fries (doesn't stop me from trying haha). They always have orders ready really quickly at this location, usually half the quoted time on the website. And I really appreciate their curbside service! Parking in Kentlands is always a pain, but if you can get close to the door, they are always right out with your order, and so friendly :) For any Bonchon location: I enjoy alternating between boneless bites with white rice, and classic wings with either pickled radish, coleslaw, or plain fries. (Soy garlic is my favorite, spicy is good too, but after a while I don't taste it as much as feel it, so I'm more likely to order half and half than all spicy). A small order is probably a bit too large for one person in one sitting, but not enough for 2 people either unless you are also getting other dishes. So if 2 of us are ordering together we will go with a medium. I enjoy their fried rice as well, but the "soy garlic chicken" if you add a protein, isn't breaded, just chicken bits tossed in the sauce. Bulgogi wraps are also tasty, but the real star is, unsurprisingly, the fried chicken (as it should be haha). I appreciate the later hours for this location, it's awesome to have such a filling and tasty option til 10/11 that's not strictly fast food. read more

SO disappointed Bonchon changed their wing recipe or preparation of their wings. My family used to love the Bonchon wings, but they're not the same. I actually did not know that the Bonchon in the Kentlands had opened until I was ordering delivery on doordash, and saw that my Bonchon order was being delivered from Kentlands Gaithersburg instead of Rockville or Germantown. I ordered their seasoned fries, their medium soy garlic wings, and boneless strips (half spicy and half soy garlic). The pickled radish that comes complimentary was very well marinated and was not too sour or astringent. The size of the drumsticks and wings were fairly large which was nice to see, especially since a lot of other restaurants seem to lower their quality of meat during these times. It seems that currently they are only open for takeout and delivery through third parties like doordash. read more

Kentlands is really getting in to the Asian Fusion food offering mix and I'm lovin' it! Situated on the corner right across from Starbucks and Vasilis on the bottom floor, our family ordered the Family Meal on a weekday evening: it came with drum sticks, wings, fried rice, 2 sides of your choice (i.e., fries/cole slaw/radish) Service was quick and friendly. Everything tasted pretty good. Minus one star because the drumsticks and the wings had a very different taste in the soy sauce glaze with the drumsticks having much more flavor/taste/glaze than the wings. Yes, its a chain, but past experience has shown each Bonchon is a little different. This is definitely one of the better ones. Its actually connected to the tea shop next door, and has ample seating inside. Service was excellent and attentive the whole meal. We ordered a large platter of chicken, plus onion rings, rice and fried zucchini. Everything was well seasoned and prepared. The soy garlic chicken is very savory and rich without heat, while the spicy ones are a delicious blend of spices without setting your whole mouth in fire- plus the pickled radish helps cool you off in between bites. First thing I noticed was that it was connected to the Tutti Frutti so you can definitely get dessert right after a tasty meal. The service was super attentive and kind. The portioning for our food was perfect for 3 people to share (we still had a small amount of leftovers). The seasoned fries were fresh and very crunchy! The soy garlic chicken was perfect and the pieces are huge unlike the pieces at other Bonchon locations. The chicken was fresh, crunchy, and had the perfect amount of sauce. The japchae was very filling and tasted really good. There were a lot of mushroom and onion toppings which usually I'm not a fan of but I am also a picky eater so it was fine for others. This Bonchon location finally opened up in Kentlands, and I can't complain about having more quality Asian/Korean eateries around the North Potomac area! Decor: 5/5 It's very clean as it's new and no one can eat in yet. Bibimbap: 4/5 I only got the bibimbap as a healthy option to counter the friedness of the chicken. Is it the best? No. But does it do the job? Yes it does. Though it's pretty expensive for what you get. Fried chicken: 5/5 I was very pleased with the chicken here. I only got the soy garlic since that's my go to at Bonchon. The breading is just right, and it's very tasty. Call me crazy but I like these better than the fried chicken I ate at Korea while I was living there (Kyuchon). The drumsticks are pretty big as well. The price is comparable to the other Korean fried chicken in the area. I'll be back again to satisfy my Korean fried chicken cravings! read more

We bought fried chicken with 2 flavor and japchae. This was 2nd time experience for us to eat bonchon. Fried chicken was ok. The breading is too thick so that we feel its "fake" crispiness, and the wing had no juicy meat. I prefer home made wings. Spicy is too spicy and soy was too sweet. Hope they have middle one. I found a metal thing in japchae, which look like a part of metal sponge. You can avoid it if you eat carefully. But I don't wanna eat that metal thing again, so I won't go there again. No worries! Our first visit to Bonchon, and overall the best I can describe it as is "strange". We went around dinner time on a Tuesday evening. There was only one other family at another table. The first thing I found strange - if I wanted the popular chicken, I had to order 10 pieces of chicken minimum. Evidently for lunch they have a nice combo with just a few pieces and a side, but at dinner - you can only order 10 pieces. Needless to say, way too much chicken for one person, and no side to go with it. Second - again only one other table in the restaurant. After we ordered, it took 20 minutes to get our food (just 2 people). For a fast casual restaurant that was virtually empty, that seemed like a long wait. Third - we ordered the "starter" of the Pork Buns. We got served our order after 20 minutes - no pork buns. I thought they forgot - I said to the server don't worry about the pork buns, and she said they take longer and will be out shortly ... which begs the question, why is this called a "Starter" then if it takes almost 30 minutes to prepare?! I still said we didn't want them - after being served 10 pieces of chicken, not going to be able to put down pork buns. Very odd. So the good news - chicken was quite good. My friends and I came here for food because we were craving chicken and heard about the new sweet chili sauce. The chicken is crunchy and juicy. I would definitely recommend the sweet chili sauce if you want something sweet and a little spicy. We also got seasoned fries which was loaded with seasoning! The food came out real quick for us (we had 7 people and each of us ordered a main dish and a starter). At the end, we got a single bill but my group wanted to pay separately. This was not the waiters fault, we simply forgot to mention it to them seeing how we all ordered and shared some of the food. This caused a lot of headache because the system used had a lot of restrictions with splitting an order after it was placed. The 2 waiters that were working were extremely patient and resolve the issue. I definitely will be coming back more often during the summer. They have large windows that can be opened to let in fresh air in. Nothing beats a good environment, great food and great people. The bar will be opening soon. Initially, I was very exited for location to open. Ordered twice from them. I have to say that I'm quite disappointed. This new location doesn't match up to the other franchise location. We ordered our typical... soy garlic chicken wings and seasoned fries. The food seems to have same taste, but the chicken wings have such thick breading. The breading fell apart so easily that destroys the taste and texture of the meat as the wings don't seem to marinate well. Some wings appear to be under cook. In addition, we found the many of the wing flats have broken bones. It left a very unpleasant taste. Until they improve the recipes, I will go to other locations. First time trying Korean Fried Chicken after hearing the hype for so many years. Ordered the small 10-pcs half-and-half of spicy and soy garlic wings. I've got to say the hype was worth it. The batter is definitely very unique (in a good way) from normal fried chicken. Enjoyed the crispy crunchiness quite a bit. If I had to choose, spicy is the way to go. Wish it could be spicier but it was good enough. That said, we also ordered the House Fried Rice with Chicken. Unfortunately, this second entree left a lot to be desired. It was not seasoned well at all, almost as if they forgot to add salt (this coming from someone who isn't heavy handed with salt when cooking).
