Great food and attentive staff. We came lunch time on a Sunday afternoon and it was not busy at all spacious very clean, not too noisy. We were given water, chips and salsa to start off. We order the Tamal de elote and it was sooo sweet and delicious. Birria tacos were soo flavorful and great beef consume! 2 orders of Taquito's Sinaloa, amazing chicken Taquitos. Yuca con chicharrón the encurtido tastes perfect. Chicken quesadillas are stuffed with chicken and great to add the guacamole sour cream and pico. Great combination. The Horchata was amazing too. We had a family dinner here during my last visit. My family come here often since it's in their community. The price is definitely right for the quantity of food. You get the free table chips and salsa. In general, entrees are pretty largely portioned. I got the birria tacos because that's my go to at a Mexican place. These were unfortunately not what I expected. It was made like what I would say quesobirria quesadilla style where cheese is between two shells and then folded into a taco and filled with birria meat. I believe they used cheddar cheese. It was not the traditional cheese for this dish or even an alternative mild white cheese. For this, I had to drop the rating because it was completely unexpected and I wouldn't have ordered if it the menu described this modern(?) take on the tacos. Service was definitely lacking this evening. I came on a Saturday night and they were not too busy, but it took nearly 20 mins to order after being seated. We had to ask two different people to order and a server from another section came over. When I asked who our server was, he pointed to the gentleman in the section closest to us, but that waiter made no attempt to even look our way the entire time we were there. The younger man (he had a brace on his foot) who took our order ended up being our server, but he was obviously confused if our original waiter had or would come over. He was the only reason we even got food. My meal came out and the food was like warm. I asked for a container for my food and it came right away, but I waited an additional 15 mins for our check until I had to get up and ask for it. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because of the server with the brace on his foot who tried to at least make sure we were fed. A frustrating experience to say the least. read more

We visit Villa Maya here and there as it's close to some of my Clarksburg residing family. Have always had a great experience but weee caught off guard yesterday when our experience was not so great. We went for drinks and apps and ordered the mussels ($19). They came out quite smelly and had an off putting taste to them. We explained our concern to our server and he said all their seafood is fresh and they've never gotten a customer sick in 5 years. We attempted to eat them but could only make it through 1/3 of them. We then ordered taquitos. Inside one of the taquitos was a sticker...like a produce one. When we showed the server he questioned us "that was inside there?" He asked if he could make us a new one which he did but the overall response was non-apologetic. When we ordered one last drink he brought us upgraded sizes and said he didn't charge us for the bigger size. We took it but looking back I don't think a larger alcoholic beverage is a way to compensate. We'll likely still go back and just hope this was an off night. read more

We came here for a double-date night with our friends and we throughly enjoyed ourselves! We also liked the decor of the place as it was a really nice vibe and atmosphere. They also have outdoor seating which is perfect for when the weather is nice. We did not wait long to be seated, 2 minutes or so and our server was Brandon, who was very good. We even had a gentleman bring chips and salsa while we waited for our friends to arrive. The salsa was still warm so you could tell it was fresh. Once our friends arrived, we ordered drinks. My girlfriend and I got frozen margaritas. She got a strawberry one and I got a matrimonio which is a combination of lime and strawberry margarita mixed together. The drinks were very strong but very good! You could feel them after just a few sips which I like but my girlfriend had to pace herself as with most places they don't really go in heavy on the liquor. That's not the case here and you will get tipsy off of just one LOL but you really get your money's worth. I appreciate that about this place as it reminds me of one of my favorite places to visit that closed. Our friends arrived and also ordered drinks as well and we then ordered appetizers. The queso was really good and flavorful with a good mouthfeel texture and downright delicious! Highly recommend as we all enjoyed the queso. We then ordered some plantains which were also very good as they were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. We then moved on to entrees as we were excited to get to the main event. One of our friends is also vegetarian but that is not a problem for this place as they have many options for vegetarian/vegan. He got a black bean enchilada with rice. My girlfriend got a chicken quesadilla and the chicken was very flavorful. I got a combo brochette of steak, jalapeno peppers with three bacon-wrapped shrimp which were scrumptious! Our other friend got tacos al carbon. We then ended the night with the dessert menu which had a few great options to choose from. One person got the flan as well as tres leches. My girlfriend and I shared her tres leches and my cheesecake chimichanga with ice cream which was very good as well. Our server Brandon was prompt on service and our dishes arrived quicker than expected! This team was really efficient and I always love to hear the sizzle of my food arriving hot and fresh! This is my first time here but certainly won't be my last. I give this a 5 out of 5 experience as there were no issues and everyone really enjoyed themselves. We will definitely consider this place for future outings. They even had people walking around ready to clear the tables as they saw plates building up without you having to ask as they know tablespace is limited when getting many dishes at once. The food is good, but the service is horrible! Especially the busboy/food runner ( young guy in his 20s with black and orange hair. So we were sat down, and he comes by, and my fam asked a question to him and shrug his shoulders and ignore our table. Another time we needed something because our server was not checking on us, and NO they weren't busy. Same thing, ignore us deliberately. I mentioned it to my server when he appeared, and said sorry, he doesn't speak English. Which is weak because at our table we all speak Spanish. Some of the food is good and some are bland, like the chicharones dish, that was dry and bland. They are good with typical Mexican dishes but other ones not so good. The drinks are good. Informed the staff, manager came and insisted it was delivered, implying that we were cheating them out of $20 on a $150 check. Manager states that the staff swore bringing the food in. I had to state that I SWEAR that it never was! So who is to be believed! Had to firmly insist and show them a photo of all the food ordered before she agreed to issue a refund. Then had the temerity to say "next time please check your orders! " to which we responded, "Next time have YOUR STAFF check as well!" We don't appreciate the implication of cheating the restaurant. The best thing on the menu is the mussel appetizer, but, it's only great 60% of the time...the other 40% it's not edible, sadly. I think it is based on how fresh the mussels are, so I'd ask. If you get it in the restaurant you can send it back and get a refund if it's made from old seafood. If you like mussels, though, these will be among the best you've had. So it is well worth ordering. Sorry to start the review on a bad note, but I've raved about them since they opened and many times I try them... not so fresh. It's also nice with a side of rice as the sauce is so good over it. It is served with some warm french bread you can use for dipping as well. The calamari is also great. Crisp and tender. Not chewy at all. Cooked perfect and served with a flavorful hot marinara style sauce. I like things a little more spicy and recommend ordering a side of their hot salsa (verde sauce) and adding it to the marinara. It's perfect! I have been here many times now and the service is always fast and friendly. Everyone... hostess, waiters, managers, bartender... you can't ask for better. It's worth coming back to see the people. They remember you and treat you well. The only complaints I have are on the steak (carne asada) and the fajitas. The fajitas are good but for the price the quantity of meat they give you is minimal. Also, the steak served with both fajitas and the carne asada (likely the same) can be very tough. I know skirt steak is a tough cut, but many Mexican places are able to marinate it and cook it so it is tender. I don't love it here and will probably skip it from now on. You can come here for the basic Mexican staples, but I'd recommend you explore the menu and try some other options. The Masitas De Puerco is an excellent dish! Very flavorful. They take pride in their food and will give you good suggestions and opinions on things. Check out happy hour in the bar. They have specials in there worth trying that may only be available in the bar. The house margaritas are great. There is a tequila night where the sale on quality tequila is excellent. read more

I've been there three times and it was touch and go I'm not sure whether I want to go back but the customer service was good

I was charged $9.95 for a non-alcoholic piña colada. Server insisted it was the correct price for no alcohol even though the receipt didn't mention it was non-alcoholic -- only said "piña colada." This is more than I've paid at Disney, on a cruise at a smoothie shop or anywhere else for a non-alcoholic drink of this size. To me, it's an outrageous price. I didn't like the tacos at all and did not eat them. The beef was overly salty and the chicken did not taste fresh. It tasted freezer burned. The guacamole seemed like it came from a jar. The salsa was hot -- seemingly purposely hot -- and with little flavor. And it took about 20+ min to get our check. I had to get up to ask for it myself. I do not think we will return. read more

The service was okay and the food came out quickly, but the busboy and hostess were the only staff members who smiled or were. friendly friendly while we're there - our waiter did not make us feel welcome. The chips were good but arrived with a bowl of warm (heated) salsa that seemed more like a bowl of runny, spicy tomato soup. Thankfully, they did give us some Pico when we asked for more traditional salsa. One person in our party had the shrimp and scallop enchiladas and said they were good. However, I had the grilled chicken tacos and another person had chicken fajitas, and in both cases the chicken slices were thin, dry, flavorless, and reminiscent of leftover chicken that had been warmed up. I could barely eat half of one taco and threw my leftovers away. I should have sent my meal back but didn't want to embarrass the person who recommended the restaurant; However, after the meal she said she had bpnever eaten there before and then complained that her chicken was awful as well. This restaurant has become a favorite of my family and the families in this neighborhood. So much so that we've stopped going to our old go-to Mexican restaurant at the Rio... They have all the Mexican classics in the menu and so much more. They've also got great margaritas and an impressive tequila menu. Highly recommend the Yuca con Chicharron, Bistec Encebollado, Camarones Vallarta and of course the Carne Asada Fajitas and Chimichangas. The kids menu is also really great with enough variety for even the most picky eaters. I love that the service gets the kids food out quickly. The servers, specifically Isaul, are great! The shrimp tacos tasted so delicious! We also tried the tortilla soup. I really like how they incorporate so many vegetables into the food. I finally tried this place out in Clarksburg because of the long wait. I was pleasantly pleased with food and taste. It was not super heavy - a tad - but it was quite delicious. I tried this place out for Happy Hour and then we transitioned to a table with some of our friends. For the Happy Hour portion, I loved the pricing for what was given. I ordered a Margarita, 1 glass of red wine, Fried Calamari, Chorizo Con Queso, and Beef nachos. In terms of what I liked, I would have to say the Chorizo Con Queso worked really well as a bar snack and it paired quite well with the Margarita. I liked the kick to the chorizo and then the fact that it was swimming in cheese. They definitely did not skimp on the cheese. The beef nachos were my next favorite and they did a nice job giving enough beef and other toppings to really fill the chips and then some. You can even use the free chips to add to the dish. I was not so surprised that the fried calamari finished last. The taste for this one was lacking a lot. It was like it was frozen. The sauce that came with it was also weak. After trying several places that offered Fried Calamari, I would say this ranked pretty low on the list. Not something I would order again. At the table, I ordered the Chorizo Con Queso (it is the same price as the happy hour price - I believe, may be wrong here). It was definitely my type of dish, especially if you are on the Keto diet (high fat, low carb). We also ordered the Steak, which was okay. Nothing too spectacular to state, but it was not bad at all. I don't really remember this dish, to be honest. Overall, the happy hour menu was enough for us to really try this place out. I wish there was more seating at the bar in case more people join. I can see it being a problem if there was a group larger than 4 go to the bar area for happy hour. If they extend the happy hour menu to the rest of the restaurant, that would be amazing and would definitely help this place be a spot after work, especially if you live close to this area. read more

After a movie, we wanted to catch some lunch or brunch and decided to search locally in Yelp. We came across this place and wanted to try it out. We were promptly seated and service was good but I was not crazy about the food. The guac we ordered either needed to be blended more and salted a little better or something. And be served with sturdier chips if not that since it kept breaking from unmashed bits of avocado. My breakfast burrito that I got was kinda dry. This place is so good! We checked out their Rockville location twice before the Clarksburg one opened. They just opened here in Clarksburg last week. We went as a family of 3 tonight and enjoyed our meals. The service was good and the food came out fairly quickly. We ordered steak/shrimp fajitas, steak/chicken fajitas and a taco salad with ground meat. We also got the tableside guac and marjaritas. You can order the fajitas with corn or flour tortillas, which is great since I'm gluten free. The platters were large and sizzling. The steak was super tender and flavorful, as was the shrimp and chicken. It comes with a side plate of homemade guacamole, pico di gallo and sour cream. You also get another side plate with yellow rice and refried beans. The portions were large. We also enjoyed a basket of homemade tortilla chips and homemade salsa. They serve the salsa warm, so I asked why. They said they put the veggies right on the grill and blend them up and serve. So you're getting fresh cooked veggies right to your table for dipping. It was really good. Both the frozen and on the rocks margaritas were excellent. They come in different flavors, but we had the traditional. They also can make "mocktails" for kids. Our daughter has a thick, non-alcoholic pina colada. The bill was around $78 before tip. That was for 3 meals, one appetizer, alcoholic drinks for 2, and one non-alcoholic specialty drink. Not exactly cheap, but on par for what we ordered. They have a large selection of other items too including soups, salads, burritos, appetizers, pupusas, quesadillas, etc. So many options and price points. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. I love that they have someone to make fresh guacamole at the table. Nothing beats fresh guac. Although the drinks were refreshing, they could've poured a tad more alcohol in them. They tasted like fruit smoothies. We ordered seafood Paella and we found hair in our food. We told the waiter about this and he just told that he will be back and went to serve our table, left us waiting ( as we couldn't eat further) with hair in our hand. After a while he brought another waitress and they again just left us without saying much and went to kitchen. They came back and offered to not charge for the dish and took it back. Popped in for Sunday lunch as our friends lived close by and wanted to check this place out. Food: Steak Fajitas- The steak was tough, chewy, and fatty. I asked for extra tortillas (because 2 of mine were dry and tough) and they charged me extra without telling me, and brought it when I asked for the check. The fries that our friends tot ordered were all one big bunch stuck together. Complimentary chips and salsa were just meh because the salsa was tasteless and sweet, dare I say. Service: We were a party of 14 and they sat another large party right next to us. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unhappy: I had to ask multiple times for a refill, a spoon, or even an extra plat for my tot and each time I was met with a blank stare. The manager was not pleased when I had to leave before the rest of my group and asked for my check first (he insisted I tell him if everyone was doing separate checks, forgot about me, and then added other people's items to my check). *No kids menu *Clean decor and restroom Maybe I've just eaten my fair share of Mexican, but this place is not (authentic) Mexican. The food here has consistently been on point and simply delicious! There's a well balanced of flavor and texture. We usually get their carne asada fajita, combo brochetta, steak taco al carbon, chicken nachos, mussels appetizer, freshly made guacamole, and calamari. On top of that their sangria is sinfully good!!! The best part is that it's close to home so they can always roll me home. LOL And you can't skip on the dessert, their fried ice cream is just heaven!!! All of this plus their awesome service, even though they're still relatively new to the neighborhood it's as if they've been here for years. That's just how personal and approachable and hospitable they are!!! With the constant flow of people it's a miracle they can continue to keep the restaurant clean and organized but they do!!! I walked in for a take-out order. the bill was $21.00 I only had 2-$20 bills on me so I handed them to the cashier. The change was to be $19.00. She said. "Do you want your change?" I said "huh?' I thought maybe I misunderstood her or gave her less than I thought. I said "did I give you $40.00? She said "yes." I said, well, of course I want my change. Why wouldn't I?" Ooo I like this place! It's sneaky! This is located in one of Clarksburg Shopping centers next to Harris Teeter. It's right next to the liquor and wine store. Plenty of parking in case your worried. This restaurant is kind of small but the food is amazing!! We order the fajitas. My husband did the carne asada and I did the combo chicken,shrimp,steak. The entrees had loads of flavor and tasted extremely authentic. I'm not going to lie, I usually do not eat the onions and peppers in fajitas but the ones that came with this meal were seasoned and tasty and cooked hahah! I don't really care for the half raw vegetables. Only downside to this meal is that it SIZZLES!!! Omg! Like popping sizzling!!! Haha! It can be kind of dangerous because I wore shorts and that oil popped on my thigh! Ouch! And then when you leave your fork on that ceramic sizzling plate and then take a bite?
