We had a family dinner here during my last visit. My family come here often since it's in their community. The price is definitely right for the quantity of food. You get the free table chips and salsa. In general, entrees are pretty largely portioned. I got the birria tacos because that's my go to at a Mexican place. These were unfortunately not what I expected. It was made like what I would say quesobirria quesadilla style where cheese is between two shells and then folded into a taco and filled with birria meat. I believe they used cheddar cheese. It was not the traditional cheese for this dish or even an alternative mild white cheese. For this, I had to drop the rating because it was completely unexpected and I wouldn't have ordered if it the menu described this modern(?) take on the tacos. Service was also a bit on the lacking side. Took a while to get anyone's attention for the check and leave.

Service was definitely lacking this evening. I came on a Saturday night and they were not too busy, but it took nearly 20 mins to order after being seated. We had to ask two different people to order and a server from another section came over. When I asked who our server was, he pointed to the gentleman in the section closest to us, but that waiter made no attempt to even look our way the entire time we were there. The younger man (he had a brace on his foot) who took our order ended up being our server, but he was obviously confused if our original waiter had or would come over. He was the only reason we even got food. My meal came out and the food was like warm. I asked for a container for my food and it came right away, but I waited an additional 15 mins for our check until I had to get up and ask for it. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because of the server with the brace on his foot who tried to at least make sure we were fed. A frustrating experience to say the least.

This place has amazing service and food, they always come and check on you and make sure your drink doesn't go empty, can't say that about most places! I love the Mexican feeling here at Villa Maya it really sets the mood. Great drinks and food all the time, never disappointed.

We came here for a double-date night with our friends and we throughly enjoyed ourselves! We also liked the decor of the place as it was a really nice vibe and atmosphere. They also have outdoor seating which is perfect for when the weather is nice. We did not wait long to be seated, 2 minutes or so and our server was Brandon, who was very good. We even had a gentleman bring chips and salsa while we waited for our friends to arrive. The salsa was still warm so you could tell it was fresh. Once our friends arrived, we ordered drinks. My girlfriend and I got frozen margaritas. She got a strawberry one and I got a matrimonio which is a combination of lime and strawberry margarita mixed together. The drinks were very strong but very good! You could feel them after just a few sips which I like but my girlfriend had to pace herself as with most places they don't really go in heavy on the liquor. That's not the case here and you will get tipsy off of just one LOL but you really get your money's worth. I appreciate that about this place as it reminds me of one of my favorite places to visit that closed. Our friends arrived and also ordered drinks as well and we then ordered appetizers. The queso was really good and flavorful with a good mouthfeel texture and downright delicious! Highly recommend as we all enjoyed the queso. We then ordered some plantains which were also very good as they were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. We then moved on to entrees as we were excited to get to the main event. One of our friends is also vegetarian but that is not a problem for this place as they have many options for vegetarian/vegan. He got a black bean enchilada with rice. My girlfriend got a chicken quesadilla and the chicken was very flavorful. I got a combo brochette of steak, jalapeno peppers with three bacon-wrapped shrimp which were scrumptious! Our other friend got tacos al carbon. We then ended the night with the dessert menu which had a few great options to choose from. One person got the flan as well as tres leches. My girlfriend and I shared her tres leches and my cheesecake chimichanga with ice cream which was very good as well. Our server Brandon was prompt on service and our dishes arrived quicker than expected! This team was really efficient and I always love to hear the sizzle of my food arriving hot and fresh! This is my first time here but certainly won't be my last. I give this a 5 out of 5 experience as there were no issues and everyone really enjoyed themselves. We will definitely consider this place for future outings. They even had people walking around ready to clear the tables as they saw plates building up without you having to ask as they know tablespace is limited when getting many dishes at once. The atmosphere is chill and both great for adults and kids alike. There were many families there. The parking is also plentiful as they have street parking but there is also a free parking lot across the street that had many spaces available.

The food is good, but the service is horrible! Especially the busboy/food runner ( young guy in his 20s with black and orange hair. So we were sat down, and he comes by, and my fam asked a question to him and shrug his shoulders and ignore our table. Another time we needed something because our server was not checking on us, and NO they weren't busy. Same thing, ignore us deliberately. I mentioned it to my server when he appeared, and said sorry, he doesn't speak English. Which is weak because at our table we all speak Spanish. Some of the food is good and some are bland, like the chicharones dish, that was dry and bland. They are good with typical Mexican dishes but other ones not so good. The drinks are good. I doubt I'll return to this location. Rockville is definitely better both food and service.

I am shocked I haven't reviewed my favorite Mexican restaurant! If you haven't been to Villa Maya in Clarksburg or Rockville drop everything and go! The fajitas are outstanding! Steak, shrimp, chicken all are delicious. Chips and salsa as an appetizer. Corn tamale with sour cream to share. A pitcher of lime or raspberry margaritas - you'll thank me later! The staff is top notch. Indoor and outdoor dining. Plenty of parking. Carry out food travels well. Table side guacamole available.

Villa Maya hands down has the best/strongest drinks in the area. I know when I come here we will be well taken care of. They can always accommodate a big table for a big party and the food comes out quick.

The Lomo Saltado (to-go) half eaten. It's very good. Great fries and thick chunks of tender steak.

We got 2 breakfast platters which have egg of your choice with meat (one had chorizo, the other had shredded beef), awesome dipping sauces, refried beans, generous portion of well-topped chilaquiles, and a slab of seared cheese. It was all terrific, very filling and a great value ($12/platter). The only negative was that it took 10-15 mins for our food to come out when there was no one else waiting for food. But, we had some time to kill and were not expecting much for a Mexican breakfast, so were pleasantly surprised and are planning to go back to check-out their dinner service.

The staff was kind, courteous, and welcoming, making me feel like a valued customer from the moment I walked in. Inside has a high ceiling, but not a lot of walking around space. They do have seating inside and it looked like two tables outside. It's January, so not entirely sure what the whole set up would be like. The service was great. They packaged everything nicely. The condiments bar was organized and clean. The food. Birria tacos were good. It's a bit different than what we are used to and it's not overly spicy. It was my first time seeing a big onion as soon as I opened the box though. That was fun! The chicken torta had a lot of substance in there. Jalapeños, breaded chicken, mayo, lettuce, etc. This can fill you up and the order comes with fries. Not my top favorite out of all of the spots nearby, but it was satisfying and I would order it again if I am here. The chicken burrito.... My gosh.... This one was a lot larger than I expected. It came with rice and beans as sides and more rice and beans inside the burrito. This is not like Chipotle. You do not hold this one. It's a fork, spoon, and knife situation. After the torta, I could barely handle half of this dish. It was good. I liked adding the spicy condiment and the cilantro to this burrito to add more flavor. After the meal, I felt satisfied by the amount of food for the price and the taste of the food. The only criticism I have is that it is gaining some popularity so if there are a bunch of people waiting, it might take some time. They prepare each item meticulously so it can take some time to get your order ready. Just temper your expectations on how quick you can get your food.

I've gotten a couple of things in this food court the rare times I've ever been here. The one time I chose Guacamole Tex-Mex was on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Wow, a lot of repeated 2's in that date. Food was assembly line for bowl like Chipotle. It was about on par with Chipotle quality wise. Staff was cordial. This chick & I ate in the food court, which is a funny story in & of itself. Interesting story with this woman: She was from a games Meetup we were both in that met in Germantown and was from Italy. She was nice. I liked her and would've considered asking her out on a date, but she had a boyfriend & was moving to South Africa with him. She was only in the US temporarily, and he was already living there. So, I needed new shoes. I mentioned to the organizer of the Meetup, I'm gonna ask her (or some woman) from the Meetup if she wanted to go shoe shopping with me at Clarksburg Outlet Mall. The Meetup organizer practically laughed at me saying you aren't going to get her (or other) to go shoe shopping. I said women like shopping, wanna bet. I asked her, and she said sure. So, we went shoe shopping. Got a good deal for buy one, get one 50% off for shoes, which we split the cost as they were the same normal price or at least easy to calculate. After that October 22, 2022 shoe shopping with the Guacamole Tex-Mex dinner, I dropped her off as she lived in Clarksburg as I recall pretty close to the outlet mall and never saw her as she left the US. The next time I got shoes was with my girlfriend in May 2024. And now in November 2025, I need new shoes again! We haven't had much luck although haven't looked too much, but I'll be with my parents for Thanksgiving. Maybe my mom & I will go Black Friday shoe shopping while I'm up there.

I placed my takeout order at 6:00 p.m. and was told it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. I arrived at approximately 6:45 p.m., giving the restaurant more than enough time to prepare my order. I work directly across the street and needed to be at work by 7:00 p.m. When I arrived, my food was packed and ready to go. The waitress rang up my order, but then walked away to seat guests who had just entered then returned so I could sign my receipt. Before leaving, I checked my bag and discovered that two items were missing. I politely brought this to her attention. She appeared irritated that I interrupted her while she was speaking with other guests and went to the back to retrieve the missing items. When she returned, I realized another item was still missing and let her know. Her response was, "I know," and she walked away. I could see that she had my missing item in her hand, but instead of giving it to me, she went to the register by the bar and began entering drink orders for guests who had arrived after me. At that point, I approached her again and politely explained that I needed to get to work and asked how much longer it would take. She then handed me the item she had been holding. I did not leave the restaurant until approximately 6:58 p.m., which caused me to be late for work. I also feel it is important to mention something that made this interaction particularly uncomfortable for me. I am Black, while the guests who arrived after me and were repeatedly prioritized appeared to be Mexican/Latino. I cannot say what motivated the waitress's behavior, but the noticeable difference in how I was treated compared with those guests left me wondering whether racial bias played a role. Regardless of the reason, no customer should feel ignored or intentionally made to wait while customers who arrived afterward are prioritized. I have been a repeat customer because I genuinely enjoy the food, which makes this experience especially disappointing. Customers should not be made to feel like an inconvenience when simply asking for items they ordered and paid for. Good food matters, but so does treating every customer with courtesy, respect, and equal consideration.
