Stopped by for dinner because we were nearby and craving Mexican food. Sorry, but this spot missed the mark. Ordered an al pastor burrito with double meat, but it came mostly stuffed with rice and beans with the regular amount of meat (basically looked similar to the chicken burrito we ordered). I've been here multiple times. I've always enjoyed the flavor of the food and consistency. I tried the torta asada. Flavor was it was good. Great bread. Paired so good with the salsa roja y verde. Look how juicy it looks in the pictures. My only note, just a lil more carne asada would have made this an amazing torta. Tried their esquites for the first time. Great flavor. First time not only receiving delivery but also our first time at the Germantown Tortacos. Previously frequented the original location in Gaithersburg near the now defunct Lake Forest Mall. Ease of online ordering definitely started out the experience on a positive note, but the whole thing was great from start to finish. It took *just* about 45 minutes from order to delivery, which is great since we were expecting about an hour. It's Superbowl weekend and the weather isn't great so we knew the possibility of delays was real. The food was delivered SOOO hot and fresh, I couldn't even really tell it had traveled from Germantown to Gaithersburg! Boyfriend ordered the taco trio, al pastor (his favorite), pescado and chorizo in addition to their hot and mild salsas. Got a horchata (first time trying) as his beverage. I ordered the Quesabirria taco trio with consomme on the side. They were absolutely divine, especially with a squirt of fresh lime and dipped in any of the options, be it the mild or medium salsas or the consomme. Got the Mora (blackberry) beverage and chips and pico on the side. Chips were super fresh, pico was just perfect. We will absolutely order delivery again, and we definitely want to try more options, I in particular wish to try the tortas. While every single item was delicious, the one thing I want to point out is the amount of pico they give ! It was like my birthday I was so happy!. It was fresh, and perfect! The chips appeared to be house made. The food came out within five minutes hot, and delicious. The restaurant was clean including the restroom. The restroom is unisex and I appreciate that. I tried this restaurant for the first time and the food was awesome. I tried the chicken quesadilla. The chicken was fresh and the cheese was melted perfectly. The outside of the quesadilla was toasted right on point, so the quesadilla was NOT SOGGY WHATSOEVER. The price for the quesadilla was 7.50, which is great for these economic times. This is a much better choice than eating at a fast food place. Also, the restaurant is super clean. I didn't see any crumbs on tables or chairs, WHICH I HATE. I highly recommend this place. This is an authentic spot with affordable food. I've only ever ordered food to go or for delivery, so I can't speak to the service when you dine there. However, the food travels very well and tastes great! We picked up food to go one afternoon and we were shocked at the quality and flavor. The BEST torta I've ever had on the east coast. Seriously, everything is good here but I still dream about that torta. In fact we came back a week later just to order more delicious treats. We tried their dorados which are rolled tacos with chicken that are fried and topped with lettuce, queso fresco and sour cream (omitted). They are best eaten right after they box them up so they are still crunchy and hot. We also tried their tacos; carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and pescado. They are topped with the traditional white onions and cilantro (not lettuce, tomato and cheese - sorry Taco Bell fans) but the fish tacos are topped with slaw. All of the tacos are delicious, but the carne asada stood out as our favorite. On our first trip we also tried a carne asada burrito - which is huge and if you are able to eat the entire thing, prepare for a nap soon after. The torta - the golden child at this location as far as I'm concerned. It can do no wrong. It's a sad day when the owner of a fast casual is hard up for $7. After placing a 70 dollar order for this place through delivery, I was missing my beverages. I called to see if I could get a refund or if I could just pick them up and they said no, we gave them to the driver. Sorry.
