    Carnitas and chorizo tacos
    Kathy T.

I think this place is average! I think if you are craving tacos then it will get the job done but its kinda pricey for the size of the tacos. I ordered the carnitas and chorizo and both meats were quite dry. It tasted better once you dip it into the consomme. I enjoyed how the tortilla was cripsy. I think the birria grilled cheese sandwich was definitely better than the tacos but it felt a little too oily/greasy towards the end of the meal.

Great fast-casual spot! I got the rockfish taco and the shrimp taco -- both were really flavorful. I ended up liking the rockfish taco a bit more just because it had more toppings and felt a little more loaded. The staff was super friendly, and they had a great playlist going, a mix of rap and R&B that my friends and I really enjoyed. Overall, definitely worth a visit!

Oh yea this spot is fire!!!! The food is really good. I was heading to Regal Rockville theater to see Wicked with my friends and we decided to eat here first real quick. We decided to order our food online even though we were dining in. The service was great - we let them know what we ordered and our names and they brought our food to our table. I ordered the birria grilled cheese and I am still thinking about it. It was SO SO good. Right when we were leaving the chef and the guy at the register also checked in the check in if we enjoyed the food. The spot is cute and vibey. Perfect for late afternoon, evening bites after a long day in Rockville town center and the birria grilled cheese the best thing on the menu FOR ME. However I will 1000% be back next time I go to the movies to try other stuff on the menu!

Went with the bae the other day, and this food was fire!!!! I'm still thinking about it. I got Birria tacos (usually stick with pastor but they were out) and I ate them in silence because they were THAT good. I'm looking forward to coming again and eating well. Def recommend. Ambience was great as there was music playing but it wasn't overwhelming and I was able to enjoy the space even while tired. Service was nice as we were greeted and we ordered through the kiosk which was quick and efficient.

Amazing place for tacos/ birria in the area. Got the birria pizza and honestly it was large enough to feed a family. It was so delicious me and my party of 3 almost finished it in one go. They do not skimp on the portions here The service is quick, friendly and the restaurant is in a great area with lots of things to do near by. Would recommend!

Hey friends! I met my family here for dinner to catch up. We were in the mood for fast casual. Big Papi's is a fast causal spots offering traditional Hispanic dishes. We ordered Surf and Turf Tacos($18) and Birria Pizza($25). I enjoyed the Surf and Turf tacos, they were flavorful and the proteins were cooked perfectly. My cousin enjoyed the Birria Pizza. To me, the birria was overcooked and lacked that intense birria flavor. Customer service was amazing! We were greeted warmly and the cashier came over to joke with us while we dined in. There's plenty of tables available for dine in. There are a few TVs as well. No free parking available, paid garage or street parking. I'll definitely be back for those Surf and Turf Tacos. Hope you enjoy!

The birria tacos are good. Crunchy shell, moist tender meat and hearty consomé broth. Sauces were still included. Restaurant is tad bit on the more expensive side. Wish they were cheaper. About $16 for three birria tacos with consomé. However my birria didn't come with the consomé at first, I had to ask for it which was weird... It was labeled in my order yet they didn't put it on my tray. So make sure to double check they don't forget it if you get this. Esquites was also a bit watery or on the blander side? Could be a tad better maybe. Aesthetic is good overall. Two self order kiosks. The loud pop reggaeton music was a vibe. I liked it. Might be back again to give the non birria tacos a try.

Greeted as soon as I came in! Very great atmosphere with Hispanic music. The inside is modern, with lots of seating. Parking was a little challenging if you don't know how to parallel park, but side parking, and public parking is available depending how long you stay. Two hours is $8 on a Saturday. Great place, I found it on TikTok! The food is good, and is warm, the horchata is to die for.

    Vegan tacos

Best vegan tacos in Maryland. No competition. So thankful they opened up in Rockville so I can get this meal regularly. In Montgomery County there are many taco options but there are very few vegan options. At Big Papi's they have a vegan taco on the menu that is clearly labeled and needs no modifications to avoid animal products. Also, their vegan meat is made from tofu, tempeh, and lentils. It is so rare to find a business that crafts a plant-based protein in-house rather than using Impossible, Beyond Meat, or Gardein. The tortilla for the taco was so flavorful and a little crispy. The vegan protein had an amazing meaty texture. It was hearty and had some chew to it. The two salsas on the side added the right amount of heat. Each lime slide added the citrus this taco needed. And the cucumber slice on each taco was the best way to cool down your mouth after enjoying so much flavor. When it is your first visit you can join the Rewards program and get $5 off your first order. I highly recommend stopping in and taking advantage of that incentive. One taco order is all you need to get hooked! I am so excited to continue to build up points at Big Papi's Tacos. It would be cool if they could increase their vegan offerings. But this one meal is enough reason for me to stop by regularly. This business also is family friendly. They have plenty of highchairs and seating options for families. Looking forward to bringing my husband and daughter with me next time.

Let me start by saying that I cannot wait to try more menu items! I had 3 carne asada tacos and the nachos and everything was so good and fresh. The perfect flavors and when I finished I definitely wanted more. lol. Quick and friendly service with an easy ordering system. I like places like this so I don't get overwhelmed. The overall appearance of the place is cute and colorful with lots of neon lights. The music is a vibe and the bathrooms were clean. I enjoyed my visit and will be back.

    Consommé side.

New to the neighborhood! Nice vibe inside. Good music, but a little loud for conversation when I was there for lunch yesterday. Got five tacos, beans, rice, the consommé, the Esquite Loco and chips/guac. Everything was delicious. The chip bag was greasy (like 5-Guy's fries bag greasy), but other than that the chips were crisp, not greasy and tasty. The guac was smooth and the small (they have two sizes) portion was plenty for two of us to share. Each of the tacos was good, with my favorite being the carne asada. The weakest for me was the shrimp. The consommé wasn't necessary to enjoy any of the tacos, but I will say that the consommé did provide a little something - not spice, not salt, but a nice complement. The tacos also come with a green sauce that was spicy and a nice complement. I enjoyed the Esquite Loco, although my partner did not. I think there was too much cojita cheese or maybe mayo in it for them. The rice and beans also were good and, again, a decent portion for the price of the side. Service: its counter service and the order was filled promptly. I asked for black beans and got pinto beans by mistake. The pintos were good actually. I asked for a spoon and the worker apologized that they don't have spoons. Then I looked in my bag, and there was a spoon there. So, be careful and double check your order. I like the place very much and will be back. It looked like other diners were enjoying the food and the vibe.

On a dark and chilly Rockville evening, we found ourselves at Big Papi's getting some flavor. We started with the loaded chicken nachos, and there were more toppings (and chicken) than nachos, in a very good way - plenty of stuff to carry with each nacho. Then the tacos - crispy tortillas (I think they're fried in oil), with lots of flavorful ingredients. My favorite was the shrimp tacos. The rockfish tacos came in close second (the fish were fried, so the tortillas were not - nice balance). In general, plenty of meat with lots of bright and fresh fillings to balance out the oils in the fried tortillas. If it's taco Tuesday, get to Big Papi's for some really good tacos! Friendly folks in a fun atmosphere, you'll be glad you stopped in!

Although I ordered online for pickup, it was a striking atmosphere when I first walked in. You got the reggaeton music playing, employees greet you with a smile, and the decor of the establishment is so welcoming, very modern. I ordered the steak bowl and the seasoning of the steak was so delicious I can't even describe it. Decent portion & I would def come back to try their walking taco.

Veggie - The veggie were filled with cooked onion, mushroom and peppers. Although they were well prepared and held a lot of veggies, there was no seasoning, so the taste was pretty flat/boring. I had to rely on adding guac and some salsa for flavor. I was hoping the veggie would have some flavor without having to rely on sauces. Al Pastor - was very good. Guacamole - comes "market price". The side we got was $3, which I think was a good value. The guac was flavorful and was a nice portion. I am glad I had it to supplement the disappointing Veggie taco and the dryness of the Pollo. The corn tortillas were good. The place is nice and comfortable.

Not fancy, but nice and comfortable tables with huge umbrellas to block the sun. The food here is good. In the past, we got the Platter for 2 ($27), which is a nice sized platter of wood fire grilled steak, chicken, sausage and shrimp with rice/beans/salad and tortillas. We couldn't finish it all and it was all delicious. No complimentary chips and salsa for the table, so tonight we ordered chips and guac to start. The guac was good with chunks of tomato, onion and avocado; it would have been nice to also get some salsa with it when you order the guac, but there's a separate charge for chips/salsa. For entrees, we got a Carne En Vara and Carne Asada. The En Vara is a skewer of chicken, beef, onion and green peppers, with rice/beans and a side order of arepitas (corn fritter). Everything was well prepared. I liked the arepitas. The Asada was a decent piece of beef that was well prepared. Came with rice and beans and flour tortillas. The service was very good. We were seated and received ice water promptly. The guac came out quickly as did the entrees, but not rushed. The server came by a couple of times to see how we were doing snd she refilled our waters. This is a "Latin" restaurant, and maybe I'm used to the ubiquitous Mexican restaurants that place salsa on the table, and I will say I missed it and didn't want to have to spend $3.95 for salsa. There were a couple of times when I would have liked to dip some of the meat into a sauce/salsa. They do put a bottle of Habanero hot sauce on the table when you sit down. The entrees tonight were good, but if you want to try the fire grilled meats, for value I recommend the Platter for 2.

Overall, I cannot complain about the food, quality, service and price. Tacos will typically run $3-$4, which is a bit standard for the area, and they are loaded with plenty of fixings. Also, Trippy has daily specials for certain items on the menu. For small place, the restaurant has a pretty extensive Tex-Mex menu, so I think everyone should find something that they'll like. Although the restaurant has some seating, this place is more of a take-out spot. One tip: I highly recommend ordering before arriving to Trippy Taco, so you can simply grab and go. Unfortunately, parking is a bit limited and tight (like most places in this area). While the food, service and prices are pretty good, I'll admit that I would not go too far out of my way to visit since there are no shortage of Tex-Mex spots in the area. But, it's a great spot to check out on your way from Point A to Point B. Usually, I visit on my way home from the gym (to undo the benefits of my workout).

As well as Tacos cost just about $3-4 each, it is a soft Taco with corn tortilla and flavorful seasoned filling, plus green salsa - that's perfect combination. I have not much to say about service, as it was a take out by online order but it was smoothly pick-up, everything was ready and packed nicely when I was arrived. The restaurant is quite tiny and old building at the back, but there are plenty free parking available around. Mainly for take out order but I think you can dine-in too - there are some seating table inside and outside. The Trippy Taco menu seem variety and interesting. This is a homey place that does not look like much from the front (the weeks' old piles of snow in…read morethe street wasn't their fault), but the food was excellent. I ordered carryout, including a pulled chicken Gordita, a pulled goat meat Gordita for the same amount, some chicken tacos (soft flour shell with white meat grilled, chopped chicken topped with very little), and the Tacos Dorados (fried tacos stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with green salsa and cheese). Pictures are from when I got home with my food. Needless to say, for $32 or so (which includes a 20% tip), I had enough food for 3 meals. The Gorditas, while not necessarily healthy, definitely fill you up. The Tacos Dorados were very good for a late night, post drinking (water, of course!), dinner, and the chicken tacos were excellent for a next-day lunch. Accompanying my food were two different sauces -- a red sauce that did not have much flavor, but was scorching hot on the palette and a green sauce that was very tasty and moderate in heat. Overall, an outstanding choice for authentic Mexican food that was very, very good.

It felt very cozy , the walls are painted blue and has white square tiles on the floor, plus the beauty of the Mexican flag hung up on the walls for all to see. The employee was kind, and pickup was quick. I ordered two sopes of grilled chicken topped with a small slice of avocado & tomato, shredded lettuce & cheese (I asked for no sour cream) and they sure packed it up on that crispy thick tortilla! It was very filling and delicious & it comes with two spicy sauces (1 Green 1 Orange) on the side. This place left a great impression on me. ***on a side note, they have a taco Tuesday deal, 3 tacos for $10 :)
