    Birria Tacos & Consommé
    Jon T.

Taco N Madre is a hidden gem that you will only find if you know which gas station they are located. Their tacos are made to order, it's fresh, delicious, and ultimately even better when you dip the tacos in the Consommé. I only got Birria Tacos with Consommé. I think it's hard to pass up on the Birria Tacos as it's a popular menu item at Taco Places. I'm not complaining. The Birria Tacos are amazing here. One bite dipped with the Consommé can send someone into a state of awe and shock as they are witnessing one of the best taco spots in Gaithersburg. Don't walk, run if you are visiting this food truck. This place does specials too; you'd need to check out their Instagram for more!

Delicious and authentic food in the area The service was great. It has a nice atmosphere; you can even eat right there--there are tables and chairs.

The tacos birria with consomme were really delicious. I would definitely come here often if I lived nearby. It's very near the Carmax in Gaithersburg if you go there.

Taco N Madre is a hidden taco truck neatly tucked at a gas station on S Frederick Avenue right off of Shady Grove Rd. I've passed by the truck many times before en route to other restaurants in the area and unfortunately the truck would be closed, however, recently I was able to catch them open a couple times and I took advantage of the opportunity. The beautiful artwork painted on the truck is beautiful and is what drew me in before I got to see the menu. I believe the artwork was completed by a local artist according to the truck's Instagram page. This food truck offers a lot from tacos, tortas, birria, and specialty plates. After a few visits, I've tried the tacos, churrasco, and birria ramen. All were delicious and adequate portions. The customer service was also good. There are a few picnic-style tables in front of the food truck for eating on site, however, the parking situation is limited as the food truck is parked on the lot of an active gas station. Overall a good experience and worth a return.

My husband and I recently moved to the area from South Texas and have been dying to try this place. The tortas we ordered were filling and delicious. It felt like we were transported back home (but with pleasant weather). We will be back!

Birria ramen (beef). Came with two beef tacos, tortilla chips and a couple slices avocado.

A must try!! I have tried the (beef) Birria ramen as well as the (beef) 3 birria tacos. The birria is delicious! Happy to have this little gem near by. The set up is a food truck with two large picnic tables...Take your meal to go or stop, have a seat and enjoy. Hard working, friendly faces. Happy eats!

Taco truck at the BP station on the side of 355 southbound/Frederick Road. New business (less than a year) with a cute painted truck and seating area out front. I've been driving by there for a few months and finally took the time to stop by and boy am I glad I did!!! This is the Birria you have been looking for! AMAZING! As good as anything I've had in Texas, sour, salty, beefy, delicious! Service is quick, quality is excellent, food is delicious. Do yourself a huge favor and give these guys a try, you'll be glad you did

3 Birria tacos.. it was okk ! It wasn't the worse or the best I had. Probably would go again & try the noodles instead.

Ixtapalapa Taqueria -- Gaithersburg, MD…read more I've eaten here more times than I can count and never once had a bad meal. That's a hard streak to keep, and they make it look easy. The taco lineup is the main event, various meats, all of them excellent, including chachete, which almost nobody around here serves. Beyond the tacos there's grilled cactus and other sides, soups, etc, and it's all flavorful and fresh every single time. Service is fast too. The margaritas are made from scratch and the hot mango salsa is worth a special mention all on its own. What really says it all: I don't even live close, but every time I'm coming back from Frederick I stop in and load up on tacos to enjoy over the next few days. I'd love nothing more than a location closer to home. The only mild adventure is turning left into the place with the traffic, but that's never once stopped me. Great food, great prices, great every time. 10/10.

You order at a counter and are given a number to display at your table. Our food took only a few minutes to arrive. The server also brought over a box holding three salsas in squeeze bottles. The green salsa was pretty mild and the orange one was super hot. The dark one was, I think, chipotle. I didn't care for the chipotle. The tacos looked great and were each pretty packed with ingredients. Pollo tacos - I thought the chicken was a bit dry and, because of that, disappointing. Veggie - The veggie were filled with cooked onion, mushroom and peppers. Although they were well prepared and held a lot of veggies, there was no seasoning, so the taste was pretty flat/boring. I had to rely on adding guac and some salsa for flavor. I was hoping the veggie would have some flavor without having to rely on sauces. Al Pastor - was very good. Guacamole - comes "market price". The side we got was $3, which I think was a good value. The guac was flavorful and was a nice portion. I am glad I had it to supplement the disappointing Veggie taco and the dryness of the Pollo. The corn tortillas were good. The place is nice and comfortable.

Love the salsa bar -- the salsas taste fresh and there's something for everyone. If you aren't vegetarian the chicken is tasty and the chicken burrito is a safe, decent choice. Overall Negatives: This is not a great place if you are vegetarian. I know they have veg items but they don't get the same attention to flavor and quality that the non-vegetarian items get. That's why my husband rated his chicken burrito higher than I rated my veggie tacos. We had more misses than hits here. Chicken burrito: minimal beans, lots of rice and pulled chicken that both had great flavor. A marginal hit, just really needed some texture because a tortilla filled with just chicken isn't a great burrito. Its's a "just fine" burrito. Veggie tacos: barely any beans or rice. Mostly big chucks of avocado (weird to not dice it) and sliced tomato and onion (again weird -- just dice it). All topped with a dairy bomb of sour cream and queso fresco that caused the whole taco to lose its structural Integrity. Desperately needed lots of salsa for flavor because nothing else had any. The thing is, you can make rice flavorful. You can make beans with flair and fun and taste. They just don't here. Disappointing miss. Nachos: good chips, good cheesy sauce. Barely any beans again and the big slices of avocado, onion, and tomato (about the size you see on a burger) made it difficult to eat anything but the chips and cheese sauce. Not "nachos" and definitely not a hit for us. Unfortunately this just wasn't for us. It's great to have stuff on your menu that accommodates different types of diners but it's important to actually show the "other" food equal attention to quality and flavor.

I've been coming here for years, and it's one of those places that never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere is lively, and you always know you're going to leave happy. I'm originally from Honduras, and one of our staple dishes... arguably THE staple dish... is the baleada. A fresh flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cheese, and crema, with the option to add extras like eggs, avocado, or different meats. I knew this had to be where Kyler experienced his very first baleada. To say it was a success would be an understatement. Kyler isn't the most adventurous eater, so getting his stamp of approval is a pretty big deal. He's officially a fan for life! We were there with my mom, and all three of us ordered some variation of a baleada along with pupusas to share. I also had to introduce Kyler to our version of horchata, which is different from the Mexican horchata he was used to. As an added bonus, we happened to visit during the World Cup, and the energy in the restaurant made the experience even more fun. Between the familiar flavors, sharing a piece of my culture with someone I love, and the consistently great food, this meal ended up being one of the highlights of our trip back to Maryland.
