Go to taco loco, and you will see why people go loco for taco loco - pun intended. They say that it is hard to find good/authentic Mexcian food in the DC area, but I think I found it. Having lived in Tijuana, I have had the best birria tacos, and while Taco Loco's birria tacos are not better than what you can get south of the border, they are pretty darn close. They have a full menu in addition to tacos, we also had carne asada sopes. Service is friendly, nothing amazing, but it was friendly and efficient, especially only one young man was working the floor. Ambiance is a bit divey, but I think that's what makes the food taste so good. And a little secret - we liked the tacos so much we went back two days later for more. Updated review. Unfortunately, I have to downgrade my previous review from five to three stars based on my most recent delivery experience. A few things that I had issues with. Although we ordered a dessert, the dessert did not arrive with our order. Upon realizing the missing dessert, I called the restaurant to inquire why the dessert was not included in the delivery. The person who answered the phone told me that the dessert was not included because they did not have the ingredients to make it. Ok, I understand that happens from time to time. However, I did not really understand why the restaurant could not have called me to inform me that they could not supply the dessert. When this has happened in past with other restaurants, they usually ask if you would like a refund or another similarly-priced item. Fortunately, it was not a problem to get a refund from Grubhub. The packaging was a mess. We ordered eight tacos, which were delicious, but they jammed them all into one container. By the time, the food arrived the tortillas were pretty stuck to each other. I thought the restaurant skimped on the portion size for the chips and salsa portions, which made the sideway overpriced for $9. read more

everything was good. We got the Berea pizza Michaela Tuesday so tacos were three for $10 so we got Birria tacos six of them did nacho fries or spectacular all of the sauce for a bit and we got three margaritas they do not skip out on the liquor. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Such a great little spot hidden between other restaurants along the Main Street in Silver Spring. The place is small so be cautious if you're planning on brining a large group. However, we went with a large group and the owner was able to accommodate but granted most of his business seemed to be carry out. The service was excellent and for the most part I would nothing took more than 15 minutes to come out. The food was all delicious especially the birria pizza. However, don't expect an actual pizza, it's actually a large birria quesadilla but still did not disappoint!! The prices are also reasonable considering the price of everything ! This place is in a hotspot area yet hidden. The tacos were decent, I wish they offered more sauces for them. The star of the show was the elote! I kept contemplating if I wanted to order another. The quesadilla was very good as well, the tortilla tastes very seasoned or dipped into something before cooking because it was very flavorful. My boyfriend suggested El Taco Loco and I'm glad he did. This brightly decorated taqueria in downtown Silver Spring was delicious. I got a carnitas taco and al pastor sopes, a typical order for me, and I loved both. The meat was super flavorful. I also got a strawberry margarita, which was strong. My boyfriend liked his machete. This is a HORRIBLE place to buy food! They cheat their customers! If you ever order from this place, please triple-check your oder before leaving!!! It' one thing to make mistake, which can happen, but cheating customers is simply disrespectful and dishonest! I gave them 1 Star because "Zero Star" is not an option! Last evening, I purchased the $15 "gorditas" combo, which comes as 3 corn tortillas filled with steak, veggies, and cheese. On ALL menus (both online and on their own restaurant menus), the description of the meals says the meals come with steak. When I picked up the food: 1) the restaurant team tightly packed my order in a plastic bag, likely assuming that I would not verify. When I checked my order before leaving the restaurant, I found out that they delivered only 1/3 of my order. 2) Also, the only 1 gordita they delivered, out of the 3, was incorrectly made; they used chicken instead of steak. When I brought these to their attention, they disputed, though they knew they've incorrectly delivered my order. They told me they would make two additional gorditas with steak but would not correct the one incorrectly made with chicken. They explained that I had not made a choice of meat, so they decided to go with chicken, and therefore, they were not willing to correct the one already made. That was so absurd! All menus clearly describe the gorditas as being made with steak so customers do not need to make a choice of meat. The restaurant team was so rude, and the Manager refused to intervene or help with the situation. They made me feel horrible! Their audacity to lie and arrogance made me sick to my stomach! At that point, I didn't want the food anymore. Of course, they refused to reimburse me. Mind you, I had to wait 30 minutes to get the food when I first ordered, then unfortunately I had to wait another 30 minutes for them to correct "as they wished" and endure their nonsense. At the end, they brought 3 gorditas with steak. The food was rudely and coldly handed to me, and they never apologized! As I was quietly waiting for them to correct "as they wished", I observed the restaurant - it was EMPTY, on a Friday evening, in the most vibrant and flamboyant part of the city center! No wonder...! My wife and I picked up from here for lunch a couple of weeks ago and we loved it! We had an Asada Burrito Mexican Wrap, a Lengua Taco, a Barbacoa Taco, a Birria Taco, a Fish Taco, a Sheep Barbacoa de Borrego Taco, and a Sheep de Borrego Virria Taco. All the food is wonderful and they are now the best tacos in Downtown Silver Spring. We look forward to ordering from them more and dining in person. read more

My experience was rather disappointing. Came here and ordered the huaraches , and on the iPad it had a choice of cheese, so I ordered mine with cheese( I figured it would be like a quesadilla but different). I ordered three with horchata and flan. After a few minutes I guess there was an issue with the iPad and the order but they asked us what we ordered and when they guy came back the second time he said my order came with meat, frijoles and pico de gallo. I figured I would just get the cheese and beans and it would still be good, but when I got my order it was powdered cheese and a thin strip of beans on it. I get that I didn't order meat but you would think they would atleast put a little more beans or that they would specify that the cheese was powdered because the cheese was only in the front of the chancla. And the horchata tasted watered down even before the ice melted. We didn't get the flan so I had to eventually get up and ask about it but I had lost my appetite at this point and kindly asked for a refund. The staff were nice but honestly I would not come back. There's a list of issues with my delivery order. The "chicken nuggets" are NOT what is pictured in their ads. They send you MUCH cheaper, partially cooked mcdonalds style nuggets. What they send you is 5 nuggets and a few fries. It's like a kids meal. I ordered 2 cokes. They weren't in the order (missing). Ordered chips and cheese. Chips weren't in the bag. Sopes are listed as an order of 3 per order. I got 1 in the order. Quesadilla was the size of a small folded taco. Pretty small but tasted ok. Got my refunds from Ubereats for all the missing items. Just keeps getting better and better! They upgraded the salsa for the chips (it used to be really watery) and now it's very good! The salsa for the tacos is always good but beware the orange salsa is HOT. They also changed up the Pescado frito (it used to come on a plain white plate with nothing except the rice and beans and tortillas) now they have it on a fajita skillet and added jalapeños and onions soooooo good. Presentation is nice and appreciated. They continue to make the atmosphere and food better everyday! They also finally have a bar, drinks are good and HUGE (me and my fiancé split the michelada and we're both tipsy lol). Definitely one of our top spots in silver spring 10/10 read more

We grabbed a to-go order of tacos and a burrito. The tacos were really good- a great take on a Mexican street taco! The burrito has got to be one of the best bang-for-your-buck you can get with it weighing more than all four tacos and chips combined! Everything was really good. The chips/queso was tasty but they kinda of skimped on the amount of chips as we ran out waaaaay before the queso! We requested some good hot sauce and hot-dang did they deliver! Ask for the habanero one and prepared to have your eyeballs sweat. My ONLY complaint, and this is partially my own fault as not being fluent in Spanish... but there was a bit of confusion around what we wanted as they don't speak much English. I drove by El Taco Loco a few times and thought of eating there. So tonight, finally, I stopped in ordered some tacos, rice, plantain and beans for pick up. I bought 3 tacos, 1 shrimp and 2 veggie. The taco's were delicious and so was the hot creamy sauce that was a condiment. Rice was tasty, so was the black beans and the plantain was juicy and sweet. Nice family, that I talked to, while waiting for my to go order, owns this restaurant. I ordered takeout 20 mins. before the restaurant was going to close on a Thursday evening. I got the Birria Tacos and Guacamole. Luckily I live across the street so the food was still pipping hot when I started eating it. To start, it was plated beautifully even for a takeout order and secondly, the food was FANTASTIC! Seriously it was so delicious. I went with the Birria Tacos after the waiter recommended it and it did not disappoint. I immediately thought, please let this restaurant do well because I plan to order from them many many more times. So glad to have such a delicious taco restaurant so close! So far I've been here twice and I leave happily satisfied! The flavor of their Barria tacos are really yummy along with the consume' that comes with it. (Best Barria tacos on Georgia Ave because I've tried several other places over the last few years and they don't always get the flavor right!) The Gordita was very hard and the harauches were also very hard. A knife couldn't even cut through it. Upon getting the check we noticed the establishment had a lot of roaches. They were all over the floor. After seeing all those roaches after we ate it made me sick to my stomach. How sanitary is this establishment? Was there roaches in the back where food is prepared? With all this overcooked food is it possible that we ate a roach? All of these questions and more resonated in our minds. We even had our small children eat from here. Went today with my family and had the worse service experience. We order our food and drinks and never received my margarita. We had to ask for water 5 times till we told them "Please we are just really thirsty" and need water. My husband received his michelada with the check when we were ready to leave. We asked 3times for our drinks and status, waiter, just kept saying okay and brushing us off. My kids where thirsty the whole time we couldn't enjoy our meals and the placed stunk like dirty mop water, made it hard to eat. Only food was good was the birria pizza. And when we got the tab, we still got charged for the margarita we never got. Then the cherry on top was that after we sent the check back for correction the new tab said the margarita was void but the price was still the same as old tab. long story short worse service by far plus the drinks/cocktails are made in the kitchen where u can't see if they are making what you asked for, kind of sus.
