I recently went here with three friends for dinner and had a solid experience. We were able to get seats immediately and the service was excellent. Mi Rancho's prices are reasonable, the portion sizes good, and the staff friendly and helpful. I appreciated the delicious complementary chips and salsa, and we were able to get refills. Mi Rancho is also very family-friendly-they have high chairs, an extensive kid's menu, and we saw several kids there. I got the mixed chicken and beef fajitas for my dinner. While the meat was a little tough and needed a bit more flavor, the accompaniments were good and combined with the salsa, produced great flavor. The 16oz ribeye steak was juicy and SO well seasoned!! The grilled shrimp were yummy, nothing special about the guac but the tortillas were really, really good. We stopped by Mi Rancho because our other dinner plans fell through. First of all, I was quite pleased and surprised by the MASSIVE outdoor space. I knew Mi Rancho had an outdoor area, but I didn't know it was so large. Thus, this is restaurant is good for larger parties. While the outdoor area is huge, the noise can be a bit loud. Service was so-so. On one hand, our server were very nice and cheerful. However, I thought the service to be a bit slow. In Mi Rancho's defense, I think the restaurant was short-staffed during our visit because I did not see too many servers for the large space. In cases like these, I would highly recommend ordering your drinks and food at the same time instead of ordering drinks, then ordering food once the drinks arrive. The food (like the service) was so-so. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amazing. I had the beef enchiladas, and I thought they were pretty bland. Although my dish was kind of bland, the restaurant does provide a generous amount of food so you will not leave hungry. This location has been here for decades and is a neighborhood favorite! Very cozy place with inside and covered outside patio seating. They have more seating downstairs, but the ambiance is not as nice. Paid parking in the streets or the public garage at the end of the street. My friends like to meet up here for birthdays especially and tell bring out a sombrero and vanilla ice cream with candles and sing to you. Service is excellent! Tex-Mex food with large portions. I usually get fajitas and they come sizzling on a hot plate with fresh flour tortillas that are made by the machine near the entrance. The ambiance is more of a small restaurant. Now I went in for breakfast so it might be better for dinner but it didn't feel uniquely special. The service was fast, never had an issue finding a waiter or having my water glass empty. The food was decent. For the price though I would expect better quality of food. We went with some dear friends who are in their 90s and still going strong. We showed up at 10:40 p.m. Just 20 minutes before closing fully expecting to get the side-eye, but nope. The staff welcomed us without hesitation, kept the kitchen open, and our server was fantastic: friendly, patient, and never once made us feel rushed. When we finished and were waiting outside for our Uber, the gentleman locking up brought out some chairs for us and with a grin said, "Just throw them over the gate when your ride gets here." Honestly, that moment alone deserves a five-star review. The kindness and humor of the staff turned an ordinary night into a memorable one. This is a great Mexican restaurant. It was one of my favorite spots when I lived in the area and even after moving away, I still come here when in town to visit family. The restaurant is in a good location--there are some street spots in the immediate area and a parking garage a very short walk away. There is a great mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The food is great. Tortillas are cooked fresh at the front and you can watch them cooking, which is pretty cool. They make a great jalapeno margarita that is spicy and not watered down. I love the Mi Rancho nachos, which are a dozen or so chips fully loaded vice a basket of chips with toppings dumped on top. The portions for entrees are good, as are prices. It's a Family Restaurant! A great environment for couples, friends and families. Located at heart of Silver Spring Downtown, Maryland. Food is great and red hot sauce is the best. Having said that, if you want to go for a quick bite, it works too. Food is not spicy but this is no Texas. I ordered quesadillas. They were decent enough but more on the bland side. I would give 5 star if the taste were better. Because everything else is going for this restaurant. Food is also slightly on the expensive side but you get free chips and salsa. We came to celebrate Mardi Gras. I know it seems strange to celebrate it at a Mexican restaurant, but that's what we did. They have a huge outdoor tent with plenty of heat. I actually like sitting there better than the inside restaurant which seems just a little dated. We had the shrimp tacos, the guacamole and the salsa, along with some modelo especial beer. Everything of course was gluten-free. The chips are super thin which I love, but others prefer them thicker. The saldo was pretty good and the guacamole was what you would expect. The shrimp tacos were also very good. This is obviously not gourmet stuff but we had a great time with friends and the food was what I would expect. I haven't tried their menu so can say if they have any higher end Mexican cuisine. But if you are looking for a good time with a large group, this is worth checking out. We had lunch here for a party of two at about 1:30PM on Thursday, November 3rd. It is a lovely establishment in downtown Silver Spring with a large parking garage nearby that is reasonably priced. They have a ton of seating, both outdoor-ish and indoors. The chips and salsa were delicious and yummy. I had the Camarones Al Espatone, which were shrimp bacon-wrapped with jalapenos and cream cheese. Yum! They were delicious; however, it was mainly bacon and shrimp. Not complaining, because I love both of those; however, it was very light on the jalapenos and cream cheese, so I wish it would have contained a bit more of that.
