Came here recently on a weeknight for dinner with my older parents. Dinner was delicious, service was quick and friendly. We loved their pork tamales, huge slices of fresh avocado, and pitchers of margaritas (we got the original on ice, but there are lots of flavors!). It may not be immediately noticeable, but the dining room is actually really beautiful. There are arched doorways between rooms with accent tiling, a chandelier, and intricate iron work. It feels casual, but there's so much attention to detail in your surroundings. Something to note: My father uses a walker and while there are two accessible parking spaces outside of the bakery next door, there is not way to get from those spaces to the entrance of Mi Rancho without going around their patio in the road. We ended up driving up to the entrance to pick him up as the slanted surface was too difficult for him. We'll definitely be back! read more

Mi Rancho Germantown is always a solid Mexican place that delivers great food in HUGE servings!!! The food is always fantastic, fresh and filling. Always! On my most recent visit, the weather was fantastic so we ate outside. There are far too few nice weather days in the Washington DC area so we took advantage of it. Even looking out on the parking lot and the driving school next door and the busy road nearby, we were happy Mexican campers! We loved the dining patio and enjoyed the cool weather. Our shrimp tacos did not disappoint. There was so much food that we were stuffed. We both had margaritas and those made us feel good too. But, for dinner that night, the outstanding part of our experience was Eva, our server. Smart, adorable, fast, professional and very friendly! I believe that Evan will make an excellent lawyer but, given how nice she is, I recommend she select a less conflictual career. We had as much fun talking to Eva as we had talking to each other. Mi Rancho isn't fancy but it also isn't expensive. It is a comfortable casual place to get great food, drinks and have lots of fun. Continuing 8 zip codes west of home to Germantown 20874. I went here one time for my friend's birthday in November 2021. It was day I saw one of the best movies of 2021, Belfast! My friend loves Mexican, and this was a pretty good option. It's not the best Mexican out there, but it was still solid. I got enchiladas as is by far the most common thing I get at a sit-down Mexican restaurant. Mexican is a common cuisine growing up or even eating with my parents as an adult, and enchiladas was standard fare for me. The place is cutely decorated in a Spanish theme throughout the restaurant. This location has been here forever and is a neighborhood favorite! Very cozy place with inside and outside and a mix covered seating area outside. They have more seating at the lower level, but the ambiance isn't as nice. Paid parking at the public garage at the end of the street. My friends like to meet up here to celebrate birthdays especially and they'll bring out their big sombrero and sing to you. Service is excellent! Went out with a friend to catch up. Arrived around 4pm on a rainy Sunday. Entrance was hard to find because it's tucked away near the outdoor seating area. I ended up mistakenly going inside the next door bakery upon my initial arrival. The service was courteous and I appreciated the no-rush but no-wait feel. The timing of our server was impeccable. I appreciated his attentiveness without interrupting the flow of conversation. The food itself was delicious. I just wish I received more warm tortillas. The gratis salsa and chips were great. One of my favorite places. Great restaurant that feels like a hometown favorite. Everyone eats here. They have a terrific bar, family friendly, patio seating, efficient and thorough kitchen, welcoming staff. Not too loud, comfy dining room, and clean restrooms. During the pandemic they stayed open with a makeshift to-go window service and my friends and I would give them as much business as possible, just to support them. I'm from Texas and ate here excited because it said Tex-Mex food. I would like to say that I was also told that the enchiladas had a white and yellow cheddar cheese blend and they had American cheese which I hate so I didn't eat them. The tortillas were AMAZING which is why I gave it another star but other than that it wasn't good. The food had no flavor, the rice was hard, the beans were bad, and the food wasn't good. The entrance is not easy to find. When you walk into the restaurant you are immediately surrounded by Mexican motif. The service is good and the food is excellent. However, the food didn't live up to the name or price unfortunately. The nachos we ordered with the refried beans were average. The chips themselves were kind of the flat. The guacamole, sour cream, and tomatoes were separated on another plate which I thought was strange. I ordered the plato maria (chicken enchilada, chicken tamale substitute, cheese chile relleno, and taco al carbon). The taco and tamale were not very good. They didn't have any flavor and just lacked that certain punch. Enchilada was pretty decent with the cheese and meat bringing joy to the meal. The relleno initially tasted off at the restaurant, but when I brought it back home and microwaved the dish, it was good. For dessert, we got the fried cheese cake which was actually great. The fried bread was hot and the filling was perfectly sweet. The flan on the other hand was a flop since it was waaaay too sweet. Definitely wouldn't get the flan again. This was such a fun and reasonably-priced tex-mex restaurant. Compared to other tex-mex restaurants in the area like Uncle Julio's and Guapo's, the quality of the food is definitley lower, however so are the prices. The margarita I had was great and the fajitas were good. My friends both enjoyed their quesadillas. Overall, I would describe the meal as reasonable--reasonable prices, reasonable food quality, and great service to support the whole experience. The fajitas I ordered were kind of small and drier and it didn't feel as grand or abundant as other tex-mex restaurants make the dish feel. That aside it tasted good, just not as good as Uncle Julios which would be ten minutes away and only a couple dollars more expensive. The service was great but that could be because the restaurant was pretty empty. We went on a wednesday afternoon and there were probably only two other tables seated besides ours. If you're looking for a fun dinner with a cheesy tex-mex ambiance and decent food to back it up, this is your place--clean, fun, decent food. We've been coming here for many years. For a number of reasons we hadn't been in the past few years and just returned and find the food as good as ever. The group I was with had chicken fajitas, Laredo platter, fish tacos, and chicken enchiladas. There were no complaints at all everybody was happy. I go to a couple of Mexican places at Rio in Gaithersburg, but found the fajitas here we're just a cut above both the tenderness of the chicken and the soft tortilla. read more

My family has ordered to go a few times and the last two times (especially last night), the chicken fajita meat was bright pink. We could not eat it. I then had a terrible stomach ate after and will be calling the manager to complain!!!! So just a heads up, it seems that the cooking is just too inconsistent and ultimately too dangerous for my family consume. They have lost costumers from us. I should have taken a picture of all the pink meat but Out of anger and disgust, I threw it away immediately. If you choose to eat here, just check your meat before you bite into it. The few pieces of meat I thought were good, once I bit into it, you could tell it was not cooked well and the color made it evident. The meat itself is probably just bad, old, or not good too! I remember when this was the "to go" place back in the day; the food was great and the margaritas were really good. However, after stopping by for some food and drinks last Saturday with friends, I will never go again. I ordered the jalapeno margarita, which was so full of sour mix, I couldn't drink it. Next I ordered two ground beef tacos (easy enough, right?). They were terrible and absolutely not edible. Despite our table sending back full drinks and discarding full plates of food (which we were still charged for), no manager ever came over to see what was wrong. Kudos to Mi Rancho! My family was in town for A high school lax tournament this past weekend. We needed outdoor seating to accommodate 35 players and parents. Mi Rancho did not disappoint us. Service was excellent food was served promptly and the drinks were plentiful for the adults. I highly recommend this modest restaurant and the extensive Mexican food menue to anyone. Most of the kids had cheese quesadillas, tacos, or burritos. Parents had fish and shrimp tacos, combination plates of beans, rice, as well as red snapper. I'm closing we highly recommend! read more

I normally go to Señor Tequilas but I decided to add some variety. We landed on Mi Rancho because it is still close to where we stay. The staff was very nice. My wife and I ordered the fajitas for two. We each ordered a margarita, and the margaritas come in a very neat cactus margarita glass. It's a small thing to add but it adds a neat little bit of flair. The fajitas came out sizzling hot and the smell was intoxicating! They separated equal portions of the fajita steak to two sides of the skillet for me and my wife. The rice and bean were good! The tortillas came out a few minutes after the meat, rice, and beans. The tortillas were probably the best part of the entire dinner. My grandma used to make the best homemade tortillas, and these are the closest tasting tortillas I have ever had. Overall the food was delicious and the margaritas were strong. The salsa was the only thing to me that was just so-so. Can't say I was a fan of this place. In particular Mexican food is not my bag, but I love tacos. They do offer free salsa and chips at the table, and good thing since my lunch was hardly filling especially for the price. Here for lunch with my boss and Rep while in town for business. My rep choses this place, claiming a lot of his customers like it. I ordered a Camarones Mi Rancho, which is described as Broiled seasoned jumbo shrimp served in a sizzling platter. Let's talk about this sizzling platter that was continuing to overcook my probably already overcooked 5 pieces of shrimp that came with this meal. Along with the 5 not so jumbo shrimp was large rings of onions and green peppers. And in a bowl sitting on the sizzling skillet was some guacamole and Pico de Gallo , hot guac and Pico anyone? Along with this came three tortillas and a side of refried beans (blah) and some rice. So here I have three tortillas to make using 5 (medium sized at best) shrimp. How generous of them, I don't even have 2 shrimp per tortilla. FAIL. So the majority of the filling in my tortilla was huge crunchy onions and peppers, warm guac and pico, and some rice. This lunch sucked. And at $14.00 was completely overpriced. I will bulk if they suggest this place again in the future. On a lighter note, service was very good. read more

OK.... I don't really know what others see in this restaurant! After reading these reviews and deciding to give it a shot ,even after one of my co-workers found a small bone in this chicken burrito a couple of years ago, I was left empty. Well, my stomach was full, but my soul hungry for something good, something flavorful. Upon sitting down, we were provided chips and salsa which were good; not great. not horrible. I ordered a beef santa fe burrito and two of my co-workers ordered chicken chimichangas. The Santa Fe burrito was really bland. I do not know why they call it a santa fe burrito as it reminded me of nothing resembeling one of my food meccas. Even with sauce, rice, vegetables and sour cream, the beef filled burrito was very, very, bland. The Chimichangas were also very similar... bland. Unfortunately, one of my co-workers found some chicken cartlege in his food this time around. I can usually go to hole in the walls, places that may have some bone or cartlege in the meal and enjoy the meal as long as it tastes good. I just could not find that here and for $9.95 each, I would rather go to Chipotle. I may be spoiled by eating in excellent establishments across the southwest, but my co-workers who havent had as much experience with tex-mex, southwestern food in that region said the food is bland. Either bring a bottle of hot sauce with you (although you will only taste that if you use it) or go else where. read more

My family visited this past weekend and they get points right from the start for bringing out chips, salsa, and water before our butts hit the seat. Our waitress was very attentive to all of our requests and quickly cleaned up the spill my daughter made. My wife had the vegetable enchiladas while I had the chicken chimichanga. The vegetable enchiladas always have an interesting vegetable combination no matter where we go but she said these were pretty good. The chicken chimichanga was one of the best I had with just the right portion size. Our daughter had the kids menu cheese and beans enchiladas and the nice thing about that was that it comes with a dessert and drink for her instead of water. She still drinks water but it's nice that she can look forward to the dessert. A few suggestion would be that there's not a vegetarian combination platter. They could've gotten another $5-6 out of us if there was one, specifically the Chile Relleno, Enchilada, and Tostada. Supposedly the refried beans are vegetarian but I want to double check this because this would be the first mexican restaraunt we've been to that has vegetarain refried beans. I think the entrance to get in could be more clearly marked. And the kids menu isn't online. read more
