    Tacos Laredo

Staff were friendly, but charged the wrong check against my credit card. They quickly fixed it, but that could have been avoided. The atmosphere was unremarkable, the table was dirty. The food had good flavor, but portions were small when compared to other Mexican restaurants I've been to. The fajita combo came was to be served on a bed of green peppers and Spanish onions. There were several onion slivers and just one green pepper ring. There wasn't enough meat to really make three good fajitas. We spent over a hundred dollars and left hungry. The salsa was bland. I would not go back, it's not worth it.

Beautifully shucked oysters. Topped each with Pico de Gallo and a squirt of lemon juice and of Worcestershire sauce.

Yes, from the pastelitos to the costillas to the Cadillac margaritas, stopping for pupusas with tasty curtido (a cabbage slaw), EVERYTHING on the menu at Laredo Grill is great, but the seafood, particularly the pescado frito, the camerones rellenos, and the oysters on the half shell are standouts, so we tried the Salmon Campeche. It was lovely, and the sauce made their always delicious rice (yes, delicious rice) even tastier, but back to the oysters. OMG! We've been eating Laredo's fresh and perfectly shucked oysters on the half shell since we first found them on the specials board by the bar, and we love the nice job they do frying foods, e.g. the pescado frito and their taquitos rancheros, sooo... I asked if they would fry a dozen for us, knowing they would be freshly shucked and immediately fried. Let's just say they are the best in the county as far as we know, and better than at a lot of fancy downtown DC restaurants. Sad to finish them, but we'll be back. Soon. And maybe we'll bring friends and sit outside again and share a pitcher of those Cadillac margaritas, but they'll have to get their own fried oysters!

I was out and about and needed some delicious food to refuel. I didn't want anything fast, but a place to sit down and recharge. I stumbled upon this delicious spot! I was greeted by warm customer service and seated promptly. My waiter immediately brought out hot chips and salsa. The chips were fried to a delicious golden crisp, and the salsa was done in the style of a traditional pico de gallo, with lots of flavor! I placed an order for chicken enchiladas, and oh boy were they tasty!!! They came with pico, guacamole, sour cream, rice and refried beans! The enchiladas were so flavorful and savory! It reminded me of the enchiladas that I would eat when living out in Arizona (the enchiladas out there are pretty good my friend). I also doused some hot sauce over them, because your guy here loves heat on his food!!! I am really glad that I stopped at this place, and I honestly love the authentic food. I will be back here again to try more foods. Cheers to good eats!

Steak and Shrimp fajita that should have been Steak and Chicken. I guess that's where my shrimp went.

Of all the outdoor dining places in the area that we have tried, I think Laredo Grill has the best set-up. They didn't have to put together some make-shift table and chairs on the sidewalk or parking lot with a few umbrellas. They already have a fantastic patio pre-pandemic. The huge outdoor seating area is under a roof with ceiling fans. Summer is only going to get hotter around here and if you're being careful about Covid and wanting to eat outside, this is the place. As for the food, it was pretty okay but as we all have our own personal favorite tex-mex place, it was hard not to compare. I ordered the mariscada (seafood stew) and it was fine. The menu said it would contain shrimp but mine did not. It had a lot more broth, tomatoes, and green peppers than seafood. We did have one friend who came later. We ordered his meal at least ten minutes before his arrival as the waitress suggested. When he did arrive shortly after, he ended up waiting over 40 minutes for his meal and it was incorrect. We ordered Steak and Chicken fajita but he got Steak and Shrimp. Not a big deal as there wasn't a difference in price but he was looking forward to to Steak and Chicken. Service was good other than having to wait over 40 minutes for one person. I did ask for no plastic straw in my drink and the waitress did remember. I can't tell you how many times people forget that request. And speaking of straws, it would be great if they did away with the use of plastics.

My family and I came here for Mother's Day because my friends were praising this place and it's in my neighborhood. I was really excited to try this spot because who doesn't love some Mexican food. But, to my disappointment, this place did not reach my expectations: 1. They sat us in a corner on their outdoor patio, near their extra supplies, where no waitresses/waiters come. 2. We are vegetarian so when ordering we wanted to substitute some things with other veggies and they told us that it wasn't possible. 3. When we changed our mind on an entree, the waiter shook his head like he was annoyed - customers always change their mind when ordering and for the waiter to show that he was annoyed or disappointed was really uncalled for. 4. They took over an hour to bring out our food. We noticed that people who were seated after us got their food before us. 5. On top of taking forever to bring our food out, they messed up one order. We ended up just taking it because we were really hungry and we didn't want to wait another hour for them to fix it. 6. It was Mother's Day and we noticed every single customer, before and after us, got a rose except for us. Not sure it was dependent on the waiter serving us or how it was distributed, but we felt that we weren't treated the same as all the other customers. With all the flaws with their service, I was really hoping their food would overcome those flaws, but unfortunately, the food was mediocre. I do understand it was Mother's Day and very busy in such a small space, but they need to work on treating all customers the same and to bring the food in a timely manner. I would like to give this place another try when it's not busy but feeling iffy about that.

Just wow! From the service to the food and drinks, I must say that this place will be on heavy rotation throughout the summer. One of my girlfriends and I came here for lunch because we saw some pictures of the fried fish on IG. Outdoor seating was available under a tent , but was too cold that day. The inside isn't very big but the connected outdoor area make up for it. There are heated lamps by the way. So we both ordered fried fish and frozen margaritas. The Margaritas are served in a huge glass. They were so good that we doubled up on our drinks. We were very happy when we left. Lol. We were also allowed to mix flavors. I loved the mango and passion fruit flavor. The fish was everything I hoped for. Flavorful, crisp and served with a side of white rice and black beans. I ate everything off of my plate with no regrets.

Two stars for the super nice customer service and for the salsa. That's pretty much it. The place looks nice but it's actually not crowded on the inside. You actually have Hispanic waiters which is also a plus but the food... The food is TexMex at best! I find that to be awfully weird. My friend feeling very BLAH about the whole dinner. The salsa was great, but not over $65 great. The menu is extremely oversaturated and with many things that all seem to be pretty much the same with the exception of one or two items. A large order of guacamole guarantees you about a cup and a half of blended avacados. That's it. Nothing more. We didn't leave hungry, but if we wanted a ton of refried beans tasteless rice and HandFuls of cheese we could've stayed home. We won't be back.

Meh. That's my opinion of this place. The chips and salsa were average. The oysters were better raw and without the cocktail sauce (that's just how I prefer them). The side order of cheese enchilada was good but nothing to obsess about. The outdoor seating area had plastic chairs. I'm not sure how much weight those chairs can withstand but they were so light that I worried for some people. The inside of the restaurant seemed cramped. You can fit groups of people in there but there isn't much wiggle room, not even between the bar stools and the regular tables. Customer service was slightly below average. It quickly became apparent that the other patrons were regulars or friends of the employees. I was forgotten or left alone for long periods of time, twice. I got irritated because I needed to go, but decided to wait for them to come to my table to see how long it would take. It took a while.

I can't believe I had not never been here. Food is delicious. Service is timely, professional and friendly. Plenty of parking. Not crowded, so we were able to get a table outside and keep some social distance. We will be back.

My check came to about $30.... I don't regret spending a dime. This place is amazing!! I got in pretty early- 4pm. No one was there at all lol. But I wasn't complaining- all attention was on me. The staff are kind and attentive and are not in your face..even as the only person there. There are complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is mild. It's very fresh. It's not shabby at all, but I've had better. The chips are nice and crunchy. I ordered as a starter a pupusa con loroco and some queso. The pupusa was spot on! Not too salty. Perfect amount of cheese. And the queso was pretty good. It was mild and yellow. I was expecting white, but whatever. It was good. I say "good" because it was pricey for a small cup of cheese. Seriously y'all, food actually tastes bad when it's over priced... But the best part of my entire meal was definitely my entree. I ordered tacos el carbon. You can choose either steak or chicken. And of course, as a woman who knows how to eat, I got steak. I can't even explain to y'all how much I enjoyed this steak....it was well marinated. Seasoned to perfection. I don't know if there is such a thing as a "perfectly tender meat". But this was hands down amazing. The tacos come with a side of refried beans, Spanish rice, lettuce, pico, guac, and sour cream. I could not finish everything because I ordered so much. But best believe I have plenty to eat for lunch tomorrow; the serving size is pretty big. I'm glad I finally visited this place. I had no idea it even existed! (Perks of working at a hotel- guests visit all sorts of restaurants and are happy to tell me about it). A must try!

Overall, the food is good, and, in our opinion, you do get what you pay for. Keep in mind that they DO charge you if you have leftover food on your table when you are done. Be mindful of that and make sure to let them know as you are finishing up, and want more, to scale down your portion size. There is a 90-minute window to eat. The servers don't really go over the menu much, so if it is your first time for all you can eat, make sure to take notice that the crab legs do come with a few different flavor options. The bad - They started a new policy, which I understand, but do not like. If you want all you can eat, everyone who is at the table must all order it as well, or nobody can. I understand they are protecting their profits, but that has taken us away from this place on more than one occasion to eat elsewhere as some wanted it and another family members wanted to order off the main menu. Also, service can be extremely slow, and I am not sure if it is intentional or not, but we have complained more than once and made them extend our time. Last time we went, they set our first order of food down on the table and as we were eating, the waitress walked by no less then 5 times and didn't bother to ask if we wanted anything else. Then, magically, when our food was gone, we could not get anyone to come to the table for 15 minutes. Upon ordering our next round, it took another 20 more minutes for the food to arrive. They are sticklers about the 90-minute time frame, and we explained that twice this has happened and 60 minutes of our 90 minutes was wasted waiting on a server and then the food took forever. They allowed us one more round of food, which we appreciated and thought was fair. We start a stopwatch now and if we feel things are going slow, we address that with the server and sometimes put in a new order when the food is being dropped off. Overall, we are pleased to come here a few times a year. We only get all you can eat and usually are happy when we leave. The food is inconsistent as we do get the lobster tail with all you can eat, and it is usually overcooked and can chew like rubber, but still has good flavor. The crab legs sometimes come out waterlogged with salt, but most times piping hot. This is your typical "average" 3-star restaurant. If you are prepared to spend the money for all you can eat, you will leave satisfied and full, but never will you think "I wish I could come here every week". I have not ordered specific entrees off the regular menu so I cannot speak on portion size or quality of the food by ordering that way. Staff is always pleasant, but you do need to get on them if they are slacking.

Our server Eric was that person. He exuded positive energy. Eric arrived the moment we sat to get our drink orders. He subsequently made excellent recommendations and was just the right amount of attentive throughout our meal. We started with the little Ozzie breads which are round pieces of fried dough. It's not a donut because it has no sugar coating. Not quite a beignet. You eat it with their honey butter which takes it to a new level of deliciousness. Definitely worth getting! We ordered the blue crab and shrimp fritter appetizer. We took Eric's recommendation to add one more fritter for an additional $4 so we each could have two and that was the right thing to do because these were incredible flavor bombs! The fritters were fantastic especially with the delicious sauce. The low country beef ribs fell off the bone and were amazing. They were slightly sweet but not too much. We substituted sweet potato fries for regular fries just to try something new. The cole slaw on the side was in a creamy, mayonnaise sauce. Unfortunately, this was quite bland and disappointing. We also ordered the lobster club salad at market price which happened to be $41. You got about half a cup of lobster, some bacon pieces, grape tomatoes, half an egg, a bit of avocado and corn on a bed of lettuce with dressing. The lobster was in a creamy sauce that was bland like the cole slaw. When you mixed everything up, the dressing made it better and it was a tasty salad which I enjoyed. However, for the price point, I expected more lobster, more portion, just more. It was tasty but not worth the market price. Overall, what I remember most about the experience is the ozzie breads, blue crab and shrimp fritters and Eric whose personal charm and excellent service made it a great meal. (Honestly, I wanted to give this 4 stars because of the cole slaw and lobster salad, but Eric's service took it back up to a 5.)

My usual Appletini was good, although it tasted more like vodka than apple. The jumbo lump crab dip, while a bit small in portion, was absolutely delicious and packed with crab and perfectly paired with the sesame baguette. Mary also recommended the shrimp and chicken tenders basket, which was another great choice. My only critique would be to cut the chicken tenders into smaller, bite-sized pieces, as they were quite large and, combined with the crunchy batter, a bit difficult to eat. However, the flavor was spot on. The menu is extensive, including a wide variety of drinks and oysters from different regions. Although I spent more than expected, I would consider visiting again in the future.

It's one of the best appetizers I've ever eaten, and it would make a fine entrée if paired with a crisp salad. Her pizza was a better choice with the appetizer--too many delicious mushrooms, whose rendered juice made the pizza a bit too wet. Our waiter was attentive and warm, and very professional. We will be back--at 4 pm the restaurant was not too full, and we could converse in a normal voice. Try it; you'll like it.

Lackluster at best…read more The evening started off great. The host was fabulous, and the dining room was beautiful. We were brought bread and olive oil with powdered parmesan in it. The olive oil tasted high quality, and I thought that was a good sign. The bread tasted of nothing and was very unremarkable. The appetizer of crab/artichoke/spinach dip was a wow. It came to us still bubbling with a warning that it was hot. This is where the good ended. When our caesar salads came, they tasted of water. You don't have to have my culinary background to know if you try to dress wet lettuce, it will not grab onto any flavors. I took two bites and stopped. It was not worth eating. It seriously tasted of nothing more than water. I could not taste the dressing, yet it was visible. There were no shavings of parmesan, just a sprinkle of powder. The croutons tasted of nothing. I have never had a caesar salad taste of nothing before. I told the waiter, and this is when the good service part of the evening ended. He told me I was wrong, and that the lettuce was wet because of putting too much dressing on it. If he was correct, then that means their caesar dressing tastes like nothing more than water. He also had an attitude about it and brought me a to-go caesar when I said I didn't want anything in place of the salad I was sending back. He made a point to show the dry lettuce in the to-go container and how he put the dressing on the side so I wouldn't have to endure "too much dressing" again. Talk about tone-deaf. I specifically stated the salad tasted like nothing. How would using less dressing fix that? I tried not to let his attitude ruin our evening. All the other service personnel were great. Our waters were always full. Our dishes always taken away. My daughter said her fetuccine alfredo was good. My eggplant parmesan was not. They should rename it eggplant mozarella, because there was no parmesan on it. The sauce tasted of nothing. No garlic. No salt. Nothing. So bland. So very bland. The only parmesan to be found was the powdered parm they brought to the table, so I tried to improve my dish by adding a bunch of that, but it was still so boring. Honestly, other than the olive oil and crab dip, the experience here was completely disappointing, and the waiter was so off-putting. We won't be going back. That said, the place got pretty busy around the time we were leaving, and their loyal following seemed quite pleased. So they don't need me to love them or to revisit ever again. They have plenty of yelps to support what they are doing. That's why we tried it. But if you want your food to taste like something, stick to the crab/spinach/artichoke dip as an appetizer and then go somewhere else for your entree.
