Solid 4.5/5 This place is located in a high-end residential community in Gaithersburg, not far from Rockville, MD. There are lots of street parking but not a dedicated one in front of the store. However, when I went for a happy hour, I had no trouble getting a spot. As you step in, you realize how tiny this place is but don't let that fool you, it's still an outstanding choice if you're in the area. As a vegetarian, I wasn't disappointed with their selections. They had quesadillas, yuca fries, bowls and salads, and tacos options for me. I went with the inspiration and avocado tacos, with the side of quesadillas and yuca fries. I thought that perhaps the side quantities might be small but once the food came, I realized I may have ordered a lot. The quesadillas and yuca fries were good, nothing special, but not bad at all. The winner for me were the two vegetarian tacos. Both had distinct but very mouth watering flavors in them. I was bummed out that none of them were that spicy, but the unique flavor profile on both more than overcame the lack of spiciness. I enjoyed my meal because I was well taken care by the serving staff. They were attentive, welcoming, and friendly. I didn't feel that they didn't have time for us as that can happen in the happy hour rush usually. Both my friend and I concluded that this is a place to come back to in the near future. One suggestion would be to also have a vegetarian option in the "Legacy Corner" or sandwich section but otherwise I enjoyed the variety. Lastly, I was slightly disappointed with the Daddy Guac and the chips we got with them. The guac size could have been bigger but more importantly is that the chips were too thin that they kept breaking apart trying to scoop up the guac. Overall, I would come back again. This place is hoppin'! Whenever Yelp asks me if a place is hip, I never know what to say -- until now! This place is definitely hip! What a vibe! So cool, fun, nice décor, super-helpful and responsive staff, lots of people eating outside and inside, and quite a selection of foods and beverages with lots of room for personalization. We came here because they have lots of vegetarian things and are known to be accommodating of requests regarding dietary needs and preferences -- what a relief from the get-go, even before arriving! Parking was easy but since I wanted to go to the bookstore afterwards, I parked near that, around the corner, and had a little amble along the road, looking at various shops and restaurants along the way, plus the greenery of the park .... I got the Avocado Tacos and asked what I could get instead of rice -- one option was the El Greco salad, so I got that. I felt a bit weird about it, though, until it was explained to me by our waitress that this wasn't just a Mexican place but rather a Mexican-Greek fusion! Oh, wow! Mind got a bit blown by that -- cool! Well, with that info., my mind relaxed ... and I awaited my meal. This is a good thing, but if you're in a hurry you might want to get something ready-made or more quick such as soup or salad that needs little to no preparation. For me, I'd rather wait! (I mean, whenever possible, that is.) So ... it was delicious! I was hungry. It was filling. The avocado was all very fresh, no yucky pieces, ha ha! Plenty of flavour, texture, colours, visual and all kinds of other appeal for the tongue. My two corn tacos under each heap of goodness did fuse together -- presumably from the moisture of all that lay on top of them -- so I could not separate them as I usually do, but the truth is that it ended up being so much food, I didn't even finish my tortillas, anyway. The tempura tacos (Aha Baja) have warm and crispy pieces that are not too big -- and that reduces the potential of a too-greasy feel. In a word, good! Or just plain 'Mmm!' The Roasted Potatoes are absolutely delicious! The Black Beans are totally tasty! The amount of desserts is incredible -- and all are house-made, wow! I could not believe how long the list was! Oh, yeah, and the appetizer of chips and salsa was crispy and yummy. The guacamole is creamy and has a hint of spice that varies by bite .... The food was all great, and so was the rich Lemon and Ginger tea was incredibly good! It looked and felt rich and thick -- such a surprise! I enjoyed it immensely. I was also offered honey, sugar, and milk to go with it if I wanted, and found out that the owner is a tea aficionado and that's why their teas are so good! This place is highly recommended by a friend. They bring complimentary chips and salsa to start. Julie's queso is delicious! We really enjoyed the jalapeño blackberry and the traditional sinful margarita. You can choose a salt, sugar or tajin rim. Everyone loved their meals, kicking shrimp tacos and avocados tacos. Bring your patience and an appetite! It's a small restaurant so getting a table takes some time. Our group of five had a reservation for 12:30pm on a Saturday and we're seated around 1:00pm when some tables finally cleared. It looked like there were two servers working the entire restaurant so getting our waters also took a bit of time. I promise the food is worth the wait. I got the grecco salad with rotisserie chicken, avgolemeno soup, and potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious. I wish I had two stomachs so I could order and eat more! My Greek friend swears by their chicken, potatoes, and avgolemeno soup and she didn't steer me wrong. Id love to return in the evening to sit at the bar sometime. Solid experience. We sat outside on a nice day and I enjoyed a hazy IPA draft on Happy Hour ($3 off), chips and salsa and salmon tacos with a side of yucca. Service was friendly. I wasn't wowed, but I enjoyed everything. My mom believes it is one of the best restaurants in Kentlands and she has been many times over the years. Cute spot to get together with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. It was quiet and not so crowded. I got the steak burrito. It was not as I pictured in my head. It very much resembled a Chiopotle burrito wrapped in foil. I expected it to be on a plate with sauce and cheese poured on top where I would need a knife and fork. At least that is how other places have served it. This obviously is no fault of S&G. I just don't enjoy holding a burrito and trying to take a big bite. So I asked them for a plate instead of the plastic basket so I could use a knife and fork. I still ended up making a mess. I also got the yucca as a side and the aioli was excellent! S&G is where the old Vasilis used to be. Though it's not a big place, for a weekday HH, the place seemed to be a bit short-staffed and the servers were just trying to keep up. We were offered complimentary chips and salsa. My "spicy chicken tacos" weren't spicy and were loaded with more sour cream and side items than chicken; the flour tortilla did not go well with this dish. This is a tiny place in Kentlands, with very limited seating. They don't take reservations, so it's a hit or miss with seating. We went there Friday night and had to wait for around 20 minutes, till we got a table. There is also limited place to stand and wait there. The servers were very friendly. There were two vegetarian tacos, which attracted me to the menu. We got the following: - Daddy's Guacamole: this was ok. A bit bland for my liking. Wish it was a bit more spicy. But we enjoyed it. - Queso: I never order queso anywhere but this was delicious. Way better than the guacamole. Better seasoned and flavored. - Inspiration Tacos: this is one of the two vegetarian options. This had cauliflower, chickpeas, and cabbage slaw. I wish it was more flavorful and seasoned. We ordered a carryout order from Sin and Grin. They were missing one part of the order, either packaged in another bag that we don't receive or maybe another customer accidentally took part of our order. We had to drive back up to the restaurant again to get our chicken pita and fries, I spoke to the manager/owner, no apology, instead she stated that she saw her employee package up all our food and stated, "are you saying my employee is a liar?" No, it was just a mistake. Good customer service in a restaurant is believing that the customer is honest when they say they didn't get all of their order and trying to make things right, not arguing or being confrontational thinking I'm scamming to get a free meal. Tuesday 9/17/2024 I made an uber eats delivery order and got the whole chicken with oven roasted potatos & French fries $27, steak attack tacos (on flour tortilla) with black beans & saffron rice $16, burrito with fajita chicken $17, and the go fish tacos (oflour tortilla) with black beans & saffron rice. - The whole chicken is cut into 8 pieces and comes with a sauce but it doesn't really do anything flavor wise. It's just chicken, nothing impressive to me. - The oven roasted potatoes were average at best. They could've been better with more seasoning and maybe a bit more crisp. - The French fries absolutely SUCKED. First, there is 0 seasoning on these fries and second, the style of fries are not good. - The steak attack tacos were underwhelming as they were just okay. Also $16 for 2 tacos plus rice & beans is overpriced. - The go fish tacos were very good and easily my favorite item. The salmon was good and made for a pretty good taco. Also $17 for 2 tacos plus rice & beans is overpriced. - The burrito with fajita chicken was solid but overpriced with that $17 price tag that should instead be closer to around$12 (I can get a similar or bigger burrito from chipotle for like $11). - The black beans & saffron rice were okay. Overall, the spot has a few highlights but the prices are what would keep me away as it's quite expensive for the food you get (taste wise & portion wise). This little eatery has a big flavor and a bigger bar! That was the first thing I noticed- the bar seems overwhelmingly well stocked and massive relative to the indoor space. They also have some outdoor seating, but given the throes of humid heat in the summer, that is never my preference. I did appreciate their space for doggies outside though! Inside, there are some bar seats and tables, but for a weekend, be ready to wait or order to go. The space is packed tight, so you can easily chat with fellow diners and make new friends! I love that! The one thing that may be slightly confusing is the parking because they are on Main Street but map apps may tell you to go to the parking lot for the adjacent shopping plaza area - don't worry though, there is a pathway through! Anyhow, the menu is splendid! I loved the menu but unfortunately my stomach is never large enough for what I want to eat, so I just had the avocado tacos. Although it is two tacos, they are served each with 2 corn tortillas (or flour if you ask). For those carbo-phobic folks, just pass on the outer tortilla (and hand it to me?)! The two tacos were filled abundantly with a balanced mix of sauce (salsa Roja), crunch (lettuce), flavor and smooth avocado. Loved it! Hungry me would've loved the option to add a third taco for a few bucks... The tacos came with black beans and saffron rice. The portions were just right for a normal appetite. Loved the light fluffy rice, and the not too salted nature of it or of the black beans. The black beans were also not flooded in liquid, which I always appreciate. Oh, and of course, when you sit down, they have house-made tortilla chips and salsa. They were good, but not amazing - a little greasy, like they fried them at an oil temperature a little too low. The salsa accompaniment was good, but hard to pick up with lots of liquid and not much tomato veggie goodness. Still, gratis is gratis, and I definitely enjoyed these before the tacos! All in all, I would welcome the opportunity to return here for dining. The food is fresh, arrives from the kitchen unbelievably quickly, and the atmosphere is very lively. Every time I eat at this restaurant, I feel like they just got the delivery from the produce delivery and the meat delivery. It's taste so fresh and so good it's amazing. Now some of the food is a little pricey, but I can tell you this I have never had a bad meal. The rotisserie chicken is delicious The beans and potatoes we get on the side or simply tastey. Sin & Grin don't know this but I would thank them so much for helping me breathe again and remembering to SMILE again. You see, I lost all of my BestFriend's. My last bestfriend passed this January. Then I had to walk away from a toxic relationship with my fiancé of 4 1/2 years. Whew, chile this has broken my heart/spirit oh so much. I've already had a BIG OLE MERCY!! So we got a ton of food for 2 people (and ate it all in one sitting LOL). For myself I got the Steak & Cheese Sub, and for David I got him the Carnitas Burrito. We shared the Kickin Shrimp Taco Platter. Steak & Cheese Sub: Just okay - was expecting more seeing others' reviews saying how good this was and wanted to try it. Definitely good flavor but as you can see in the photo not much meat, it was mostly bread. The meat that we did taste was very good! The fries that we got with it were unseasoned and just taste like plain fries. Overall was a little disappointed. Kickin Shrimp Tacos: Again, got a lot of flour tortilla here, not much shrimp. It was basically flour tortilla and cilantro cream sauce per bite. Was REALLY (not just a little) disappointed by the rice and beans here. The beans were not seasoned at all, not even with straight up salt? Tasted like they just got boiled in a pot and dumped into the container. No good. Carnitas Burrito: I think this was the saving grace here and is what I am essentially giving my 3 stars to. HUGE burrito. Good flavor and creamy, cheesy, loaded. The best deal of the 3 things we got. I have been a patron of Sin & Grin since they opened for business. I live just blocks from their establishment and it is common for my wife and me to walk over for lunch or dinner every single day they are open. We have NEVER had a bad meal. Not once. Everything is consistently delicious. The owners, Bill and Julie, are always welcoming hosts and both are extraordinarily skilled in the kitchen. Their salmon, shrimp, lamb and beef, carnitas, rotisserie chicken, steak fajitas, chicken fajitas, and veggie Bowls are to die for - and healthy to boot. Their son, Yanni, now manages the "front of the house". It is your quintessential "family restaurant". Really really impressed here with this place. It's small but has outdoor seating and a small bar area inside. They make it work and it flows nice. Food was so delicious. Great helpings of meat in all the food we got and heat flavor. Not too overpowering. Our waitress was very nice and engaging. This place is right in the main area of Kentlands and just screams quaint. Which I love. This is a place where you can pop in, grab a seat at the bar or outside, grab good food, take your time eating with a beer in hand, and walk out happy. I've been to this place multiple times before and never had an issue -- I've been served alcohol here with the same ID on several occasions. Today, though, I had a completely different and frustrating experience. A young female server checked my ID, bent it, and actually cracked it. She then took it to her manager, who refused to serve me, despite the fact that I'm 23 years old and my ID is 100% valid. What makes this even more frustrating is that my boyfriend, who was checked right before me, had his ID accepted without question -- she didn't bend or even scrutinize his. If bending IDs is "procedure," why was mine the only one treated that way? To top it all off, I now have to go through the hassle of getting a brand new ID -- and fast -- because I need it for an upcoming flight. This was not only unprofessional, it was careless and costly.
