Brews and Barrels is a great restaurant. I came to a work lunch sponsored by my boss and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was very nice. It gives an old rustic vibe. We went around 12pm on a Tuesday so it wasn't really crowded. They were showing the world cup so that was really enjoyable to watch with my coworkers. The food was great. We all ordered different entrees such as BBQ ribs, lamb chops, margarita pizza, quesadillas, and burgers. I ordered the margarita pizza. It was decent. Nothing to write home about but it was enjoyable. We also ordered the sampler which consists of wings, buffalo shrimp, quesadillas, and eggrolls. The sampler was really delicious. All of the food came out at a good temperature and was flavorful. Considering the restaurant was pretty much empty it took a long time for us to receive our food from the kitchen. There were 6 of us but no one else in the restaurant. Other than that the service was pretty good. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. If you are in the area I recommend you check them out. I've been here previously and the experience was great, this time not so much. I'll start by stating that the restaurant was not busy at all, we ordered an appetizer that was promptly brought out by the kitchen staff but our waiter took a long time to return to take our entree orders. My fiancé ordered lamb chops and I ordered the crab cakes, her food was delectable but mine was...what can only be described as the worst crab cakes I've ever had. It was pounded thin like a smash burger while also being 50% filler, I was served 2 and couldn't even finish them. Not to mention my mashed potatoes were cold, this meal overall left a bad taste in my mouth, pun intended, and I'm not sure I'll patronize here again, at least no time soon. read more

So over cooked you couldn't tell what it was. 4. Yum Yum Shrimp ($15) - Over cooked and for $15 we only got 6 shrimp. 5. Ribs full rack ($34) - These were OK, but no sides. It was my husband and I's first time. We had an amazing experience with Darwin our bartender. He made us feel very welcomed and constantly checked in on us to make sure we are okay. He is an amazing bartender and overall chill and down to earth person. We were welcomed the minute we walked in and sat down. Our drinks were amazing and we were so thankful for the service. This was our first time dining here and we had perfect weather to eat outside. I waitress our server was very nice. They were not very familiar with the menu and did not know that mussels existed on the menu. I switched my order to get the muscles and the crab dip. The crab dip was very thick cream cheese. It had a nice flavor, but very heavy and not a lot of crab. It was mixed in very finely. The muscles were nice size and a good portion. The broth was a marinara sauce, which had a nice flavor. I found I had eight unopened muscles in my bowl. It made me question why so many were not opened after being cooked finally my fiancé got the ribeye steak. The vegetables and potatoes were delicious. The steak however, needed a lot of help. It actually tasted like gasoline flame broil, and the flavor was awful. We did not complain, but should have. I'm not sure about coming back. I really like their other establishment grill Marx iin Olney. If you like, live music, they offer that here. read more

We came here with the family one Sunday evening. The food was good-not great. My Hawaiian Summer Salad was supposed to have feta and it clearly did not. It is described as tender meat balls freshly made with ground beef tossed in creamy lemon and thyme sauce. It was okay. I was not a fan of the creamy lemon sauce. I also had a Chocolate Martini - described as having Vanilla vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur, and Kahlua. This drink is not sweet, but rather strong. Bar and Grill located in Kentlands. I came by because they offer Happy Hour from Sunday through Friday, 3:30-6:30 which are great times. I tried 3 appetizers from the Happy Hour menu and they tasted great, portions are reasonable as well. Drink selection is also great as shown in the picture included. Service was good as my waiter was super attentive, never had an issue asking for something. My only complaint is that when I was here they did not play the music loud enough throughout the restaurant so it felt like you could hear everyone's conversations... I'm sure if it's busier it wouldn't be an issue. I will be returning to try other items. read more

Had a late lunch/early dinner here on a Sunday afternoon. A friend asked for the WNBA finals to be put on a tv and they were so kind and accommodating - they changed one of the TVs By the bar to the game AND changed a tv by our table to the game. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Our waiter refilled my water glass countless times. My bbq grilled chicken sandwich was perfect - not too much bbq sauce. The onion rings were so good I ate them all. The decor fits the theme and the beer menu looks like a lot of great options. Cannot get a response from management after months of attempts and several emails and visits.

The greeter was friendly and noted my (not so subtle) hint that it was my companion's birthday. Our server, Nico, was attentive and very friendly. While they didn't have the ribs we'd wanted (bummer), I loved my jambalaya with basmati rice (substitute for the linguini). The manager came over to check in. And... they brought his choice of dessert with a sparkler candle while we all sang. Very fun-- we'll be back! read more

Food is hit or miss. The brisket seemed like undercooked bacon -- not even edible. The tacos are not flavorful. I do love the buffalo chicken flatbread. Don't look for a good mixed drink; stick with beer/wine. It is a fun atmosphere though, esp on Tue nights when there's trivia. That's a big draw for lots of people and it's fun! It's a popular place in the neighborhood, but not my go-to. read more

Pros - Ate lunch here on 4/28 around noon. Welcomed when we entered and thanked when we left. Food was fine - no complaints. Cons - The floor was sticky as we walked to our table. I think they are using too much chemical when they are mopping at the end of the night, but it gives the impression they might be dirty for the lay person. It also smelled strongly like the deodorizer tablets that are used in urinals throughout the restaurant. A big turn off. I hope ownership corrects these two things because I can see it causing folks not to come back. read more

I went to this restaurant last week with three others. The place was dirty. The floors were sticky. The table had a weird finish. All four of us thought the food was very mediocre. I discovered that this restaurant is part of the Clarksburg Lodge and Urbana Lodge group. I have had similar bad experiences at those establishments as well. I will not be returning. read more

Highly disappointed with my entire experience here. The waiter didn't seem interested in helping us. He kept trying to rush us and it felt like they wanted us to leave as soon as possible. I am often in the Maryland area, especially Gaithersburg. Stumbled upon Brews and Barrels in the Kentlands! Thank you, Lawd! There were only a few in the place as it was past Lunch and pre Happy. Nice clean decor. We asked for advice on an IPA. Our waitress named Clarissa(?). Asked if I wanted to sample 2 different IPA's. I ended up choosing and ATLAS. It was an excellent choice to go with. My garlic/parm wings. My dining. Partner had the traditional Buffalo. both were amazing crispy, tasty and juicy - DAMN. we hit it big with flavors!!!!! They had REAL blue cheese dressing and the ranch was great too!!!!!!! WIN, WIN, WIN! The WOLVES are happy! Clarissa was such a delight in talking over the beers and the menu. This is a great local spot for some Bourbons , Beers and hearty food. There are live music at times and the overall atmosphere of the place is inviting and lively. I haven't been to any Kentlands restaurants in a while. Went here for a Happy hour meeting with a friend. The restaurant wasn't crowded at 6 pm. A very pleasant hostess, gave us a nice booth by the window. The appetizers tasted good. Service was very friendly. The restaurant got busy by 730. Prices were reasonable. The only reason to remove a star are: 1. With a name that has "Brew" in it's name should present the beer menu with every menu. 2. I got a laminated beer menu on request but the beer on the menu was not available. I would recommend a manageable beer menu. Of course I commend this restaurant for having local craft brews. read more

go for the happy hour beer menu The food is well portioned and comes pretty fast in regards to when you order. i did order at the start of the rush though so it might be that. The service from the waiters was fast, attentive. and polite. The ambiance was great for a work lunch considering it is bright during the afternoon and and a bit dimmer during the night. Me and my girls came here for HH yesterday and we were really looking forward to their drinks and food. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the following: 1. Their HH margarita - it was DISGUSTING. Usually, if it's bad, I'll just suck it up and drink it, but this was horrible and I was unable to even take a sip after tasting it. It tasted like a Long Island iced tea gone bad or just something rotten. The good thing is at least our server was honest with us and told us it was premade (which usually they all are at all bars), but this was a really bad batch. 2. Vegetarian Penne Pasta - bland and uncooked veggies. It looked okay at first but then when you take the first bite, it's like why did I even bother. The veggies (broccoli and carrots) were uncooked, the sauce (or lack of) was bland - no flavor at all, unseasoned - we had to ask for hot sauce/crushed red peppers to add even a little bit of something, 3. Jambalaya - lacked flavor. There was no Cajun flavor whatsoever, as jambalaya should have. It tasted like tomato paste/spaghetti sauce - plain. Only 2 pieces of shrimp in the entire entree. 4. Alcohol tax - 2 of my friends are pregnant and they were charged alcohol tax. Like what in the world?! You know you ****ed up when you charge the pregnant women alcohol tax. He said he would fix it right away but never did. It shouldn't have been added to begin with. Even though the above was unsatisfactory, I will say that our server was very calm, accommodating and patient with us. He always had a smile on his face and never gave us attitude. I can understand the stress to accommodate 10 women asking for certain things at once, and maybe even repeating certain things, but he never once showed that he was over us lol. To be honest, I don't think I'd come back here for HH/dinner. I'll just stick to staying in the bar area and getting beers - no cocktails for me. read more

We have been going here for years now. Recently, they introduced a new menu. The service was excellent, and it was quiet in the dining room.

Ordered corned beef and cabbage and the beef stew from their St Patrick's Dat menu last Friday. The beef stew was way too salty. They are saltier than the beef stew. Friends said that's typical for the corned beef. I am no expert on the corned beef and cabbage but they are waaaay too salty including the carrots and the cabbage. You couldn't even eat the carrots that's how salty the food was. read more

Went here for brunch this morning and got seated immediately . Decided to order the all American breakfast which came with eggs, toast and bacon/sausage. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles which later we found out they were "out of" so he ordered the same thing as I did. The meals came out and there was no butter on the toast and the scrambled eggs were GOOPY, on both plates. I asked for butter and the server brought out literal liquid butter. Like melted butter in a cup... for my toast. I ended up asking for my eggs more well done and the server said he would bring some out. They came out and they were slightly more well done which were tolerable in texture but one bite of the eggs and I could tell that they were cooked with massive amounts of that liquid butter. The juice is not worth the squeeze. I never thought of B&B as a great restaurant, but it was okay and it was at a reasonable price point. However, times have changed, the prices have skyrocketed, and the food is still just so-so. It is hard to justify getting food from B&B when I can walk half a block over and have better food, for the same price, at a dozen other restaurants. Take for example, last night. I ordered fish and chips. Attached is a picture of the three soggy "chicken finger"-sized fish fillets. This entree cost $26! I think B&B is no longer finding the right balance between price and quality. I think I will take my restaurant takeout dollars elsewhere. read more
