Margarita in a cute cactus glass
Leigh D.

Continuing 8 zip codes west of home to Germantown 20874. I went here one time for my friend's birthday in November 2021. It was day I saw one of the best movies of 2021, Belfast! My friend loves Mexican, and this was a pretty good option. It's not the best Mexican out there, but it was still solid. I got enchiladas as is by far the most common thing I get at a sit-down Mexican restaurant. Mexican is a common cuisine growing up or even eating with my parents as an adult, and enchiladas was standard fare for me. The place is cutely decorated in a Spanish theme throughout the restaurant. In addition to the delicious, enchiladas, rice, & beans, I got an iced Margarita since we were celebrating a birthday, which was yummy too. Service was good as I recall too.

Enchiladas

Never a bad meal, service is always very good. The people working there make you feel at home.

I got a platter with a beef taco, a pork tamale and a chicken enchilada. It was definitely more than enough food. It wasn't the best Mexican food I've had but it was decent. I thought the service was good and the restaurant had a casual, relaxed atmosphere.

Called in a take out order. When I arrived, I was directed to the bar to pick up my order. At the bar only a few seats were occupied. I was invited to take a seat and asked if I would like a drink while I waited. I declined, paid my tab, and moments later was given my food --earlier than they said it would be ready! Love that they are actively making tortillas where you can watch the process. I had a chicken chimichanga and cheese dip. The food was good, but the chicken was very salty. The chips were fresh and perfect. If the chicken were less salty, this would've been a 5 star experience,

This was an OK choice our family chose because it was closeby to a show we were attending. The service was good, the complimentary chips were great, and everything else was very fine. Wouldn't go out of my way to return, but wouldn't complain if someone invited me. The quesadilla was good, nothing exciting to note, and same with the steak fajita. Both were solid portion sizes of food that my mom and I chose to split.

A bit of everything- good portions!

This location has been here forever and is a neighborhood favorite! Very cozy place with inside and outside and a mix covered seating area outside. They have more seating at the lower level, but the ambiance isn't as nice. Paid parking at the public garage at the end of the street. My friends like to meet up here to celebrate birthdays especially and they'll bring out their big sombrero and sing to you. Service is excellent! Tex-mex food with large portions, I usually get fajitas and they come sizzling on a hot plate. The food is good, nothing special, but we usually come for the free chips and salsa! The tortilla chips are very thinly made and come out warm. Their tortillas are freshly warmed up on the machine upfront, not sure if they actually made them. Food is probably a 3.5, ambiance a 3, but service a 5!

Went out with a friend to catch up. Arrived around 4pm on a rainy Sunday. Entrance was hard to find because it's tucked away near the outdoor seating area. I ended up mistakenly going inside the next door bakery upon my initial arrival. The service was courteous and I appreciated the no-rush but no-wait feel. The timing of our server was impeccable. I appreciated his attentiveness without interrupting the flow of conversation. The food itself was delicious. I just wish I received more warm tortillas. The gratis salsa and chips were great. The carne asada fajita was delicious. I've not returned to Mi Rancho in nearly 13 years and it still tasted as good as the last time. I hope this restaurant never goes out of business.

This is my second time at this location. We got there right at 11:30 when they opened and grabbed a spot outside. The staff was attentive and our orders were brought out correctly. This was my first time trying the taco salad and it was just okay, I found the shell to be a bit greasy. This is a great go to spot to grab some quick Mexican food and a margarita.

A large "small restaurant" with plenty of space to dine in and keep socially distanced. The service is outstanding, attentiveness without over bearing friendly smiles - you can truly see how appreciative they are that you had visited. A good selection of beer both domestic and imported as well as they make a great golden margarita. One place that stands this restaurant from everybody else is that they make homemade freshly handmade tortillas! The prices have gone up thanks to COVID-19, the food is delicious, with the best beans around. They have a large selection of traditional entrees as well as great desserts.

Fish tacos at Mi Rancho in Germantown

One of my favorite places. Great restaurant that feels like a hometown favorite. Everyone eats here. They have a terrific bar, family friendly, patio seating, efficient and thorough kitchen, welcoming staff. Not too loud, comfy dining room, and clean restrooms. During the pandemic they stayed open with a makeshift to-go window service and my friends and I would give them as much business as possible, just to support them. Try their classic margaritas, the combo platters, or the ribs. (The ribs are TO DIE for) but my fave is the fish tacos.

Margarita day! In the very open back it was quieter- the front had screaming kids. The only thing happy hour was house Margarita $5.00 and cheese Dip, which was delicious. I also got quesadillas which were Very fresh, cheesy with steak. With a dollop of fresh quac and sour cream. Service was great, needed napkins, no problem and sizzling dish next to me smelled phenomenal (Fajitas) ... very authentic Tex Mex. Fresh ingredients. I'll get the grilled steak salad next time.

So glad we got to experience it. The moment we sat down, the server provided complimentary chips with salsa. Delicious. Some of the many items we ordered were: Guacamole - great. tacos : shrimp, carne asada and lengua. Highly recommend the lengua tacos. Tacos themselves looked and tasted handmade. Chimichanga - large portion and finished with no complaints. Queso ( cheese) Quesadilla : right on point. Kids chicken tenders : embarrassed that we order this but something for the kiddos who haven't or are still developing their palates. Wouldn't recommend though. A bit dry. Wonderful selection of drinks : fountain drinks, frozen lemonade ( delicious) and horchata ( great). They do have a nice bar with a wide selection. Ambiance was laid back and quite quiet with the busy road nearby. 4.35 stars.

Very casual and spacious restaurant but limited parking.

Luckily, it wasn't too crowded so we were sat pretty fast. After looking at the menu we were ready to place our orders and our waiter came over. He was very friendly and attentive. He didn't make any suggestions due to us being regulars at this restaurant LOL. We decided to order the street tacos (pork and beef). We also ordered the trio of tacos traditional (beef, shrimp, al pastor). The tacos were delicious. I wish I took pictures but I was enjoying myself. For a drink I ordered a virgin Pina Colada. It was delicious and made perfectly. Our waiter made sure that he came over a couple of times to check on us which we appreciated. We had a great time as always. We will be back soon! Cheers!

We ate on the patio, but I went inside to use the restroom. The ambiance and decor is festive throughout the restaurant with its bright colors and art. 1/5 Unfortunately,…read morethis place was a huge disappointment. Honestly, the customer service made the entire experience worse. We came in smiling, excited, and ready to spend money trying a new Mexican spot. Instead, we quickly got the impression that our business was an inconvenience. Let's start with the prices. I ordered a maracuyá (passion fruit) drink for $4.19, and my husband ordered a cranberry drink for $4.19. Neither is refillable, which I normally wouldn't even complain about, but that's over $8 for two basic non-alcoholic drinks. For perspective, I buy the maracuyá drink mix at the Mexican market for less than $5, and that one package makes at least FIVE drinks this size. I'm saying this mostly because they were making money off of us. They brought us chips and salsa when we sat down. Most Mexican restaurants around here offer unlimited chips and salsa, so when we finished the first basket, we asked for another. He brought it. After bringing our drinks, however, the man helping us took forever to come back to take our food order. Another staff member repeatedly walked around us like we were invisible. Eventually, we had to WAVE HIM DOWN just to place our order. We ordered chile con queso WITH BEEF, exactly as it was labeled on the menu, along with chile relleno with beef. The queso arrived WITH NO BEEF. We very kindly pointed out that the beef was missing. Instead of simply saying, "Oh, sorry about that," and correcting it, he seemed confused and started going back and forth with us about it. We asked for the menu because we knew what we had ordered. He took the cheese dip away, went toward the kitchen, and then YELLED across the restaurant to us that it would be $9.36. My husband responded that was fine because THAT WAS WHAT WE ORDERED. Then somehow the chips became another issue. When our almost $10 queso dip came back, there were NO CHIPS brought with it. When we asked about chips, he responded with an attitude that he wasn't going to give us any more. My husband, genuinely confused at this point, asked how exactly he was supposed to eat the queso. With a spoon??? Well, apparently so, because the man came back with another basket of chips... AND A SPOON. You seriously can't make this stuff up. And that really sums up the experience. Restaurants make mistakes. That wasn't the problem. It was the attitude, the lack of attentiveness, having to wave someone down just to order, arguing over something clearly listed on the menu, yelling a price across the restaurant, and then acting bothered over providing chips for a nearly $10 DIP. We walked in happy, friendly, and excited to try somewhere new. We left knowing we will never come back. My advice? There are more than enough Mexican restaurants in the Muddy Branch/Gaithersburg area to choose from. Try one of the others. Based on our experience, this place clearly has enough business that making new customers feel welcomed and valued isn't a priority.
