I didn't expect blackened fish to taste but more on sweet side instead of savory. I would stick w true authentic style of tacos from ixtapalapa as an example. I have heard of this place many times but never got around trying them until recently. I swung by with my mom on a Sunday evening after discovering Rakugaki gad no seat until 45-50 minutes later. We just decided to pop by and see what they have. Ordering was fast and easy. We got the ancho shrimp rice bowl and the shrimp ceviche. Both orders came out quickly and accompanied with warm tortilla chips. I liked how well seasoned everything was. The bright acidic lime flavors really enhanced all the ingredients included in the order. The shrimp were grilled perfectly for the rice bowl and very flavorful. I enjoyed every bite of it. The sauce with the ceviche. Bursting with flavors in every bite. Although I live in SoCal and it's somewhat of a mecca for Mexican food items out there, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Fish Taco. I got the Veggie Rice Bowl with dressing on the side. My partner got the Fish Stew special ($8.00). Both were very good. My bowl had a decent portion of avocado and the grilled onions were delicious. This is one of my new favorite places to eat. It's located in the Wildwood shopping center. There is ample indoor seating and even some outdoor seating available that is quite darling. Their salsa and chips are a must try-- I have even ordered some to take home as a snack when we finish eating. I had the signature batter dipped fish rice bowl. It was absolutely fabulous. If you are thinking it's comparable to Chipotle -- you are wrong. This is so much better. From the many times I've been to Fish Taco, I've found it to be one of the best fast casual sit-in mexican spot. Perfect for meeting family in town. Their atmosphere is very friendly and this location here is clean, and more spacious than the Tyson's VA location. I really commend the staff for keeping this place spotless. I had to convince my dad who is a vegetarian to go here, because of the brand name - they have vegetarian options if you're reading this. In any case, I have mostly tried their burrito bowls and it's fresh, healthy, flavorful, especially if you add their verde sauce. I appreciated the outdoor patio seating - perfect for people watching (or sunset watching!). You order at the counter, but they bring food to the table and clear from the tables, so a step up from fast casual. I got a house marg, which was strong and just ok. The elote was a bit disappointing. The 4-street taco Tuesday deal was great, and the chips and salsa were SO GOOD. Some of the best, imo. I stopped by fish taco on a busy rainy day. I ordered 2 chorizo tacos and 1 pork belly taco, 1 tres leches cake and 1 chips and queso appetizer. The tacos were pretty good. Nothing really stand out about it. Which was a little disappointing for $4.50 each. The chips and queso were the best part of my meal, that alone was delicious! If you've never been here, just know this isn't authentic Mexican cuisine. I honestly don't know if they market themselves as such, but since it is categorized as Mexican on Yelp, I wanted to preface that. The fish is fried to a perfect crisp, and it is meaty; you're not getting a thin filet of fish that is coated in layers of batter. The fish is also seasoned well and not bland at all. The sauce topped on both dishes is so delicious and flavorful (not spicy for anyone who is wondering). I've also tried their steak and blackened fish before. Both were good, but I highly encourage you to try their Signature Fish Tacos/Rice bowl. Their chips and salsa verde are also a solid app/side. The salsa verde does have a kick, a mild spice if you will. Service is always great and the food comes out relatively fast, even when it's busy. It's not a large space, but there's plenty of seating. They also have about 3-4 tables outdoors. It's great to dine-in for a casual, lowkey dinner and/or a nicer occasion. There is ample parking, but it is a bit tedious getting in and out of the lot as their is a lot of traffic, both vehicular and foot. My adventure to Fish Taco was pretty random, but it was a great decision in the end. Fish Taco is located in Wildwood Shopping Center, which seems to have an endless number of restaurants, ice cream parlors, and shops. Since I arrived around 6:30 pm, the restaurant was pretty busy, but I found seating outside. There was plenty of seating inside, but it was a very nice day so I decided to sit outside. While the restaurant was pretty busy, I think most of the people inside were getting takeout orders or where from one of the delivery services (e.g. Doordash, UberEats, Grubhub, etc.). My rice bowl was served full of yummy bits (corn, beans, various sauces, etc), and there was a substantial amount of protein (ie my fish). The fish was fried perfectly (ie crunchy on the outside and soft & flaky on the inside). IMO, the chips . . . I guess the salsa were just ok. I thought the salsa roja was kind of bland for my liking While shopping center where Fish Taco is located has parking, I thought the parking lot was a bit of a nightmare. The number of spaces for a shopping center with 10+ stores was pretty limited. Also the parking lot is very tight for larger cars. Please, note that this restaurant (and the shopping center in general) is VERY kid friendly. If you want to have a nice quiet meal, I would suggest checking out another spot. read more

The guacamole was creamy and delicious. The chips were house made, light, crunchy, and full of corn flavor. I even took the extras home with me. There was no guacamole left over, it was so tasty, we finished every last morsel. I ordered the signature taco platter, that comes with two tacos and a side. I chose a side salad. It was fresh, lightly dressed, and generous in portion. It was excellent! The tacos were filled with beer battered Mahi-mahi and topped with a house coleslaw. They were very good. Despite the very friendly service and smiling staff -not to mention the charming, handsome and super lovely Htet- sometimes the food can disappoint. Several things were not up to par, but the blackened fish on top of the salad was hard and inedible. I believe this was due to arriving near closing. As they were closing I could not I could not get a replacement. Assuming the fish would be the excellent version served in the wonderful fish tacos was a mistake. This is a great spot but beware --not a bargain. For two of us we never dine for less than $75-100 with one nice margarita and one ice cold Mexican beer, salad, one order tacos and one quesadilla and tip. I used to go to the Fish Taco on Macarthur Blvd. when it was the only good thing going in that strip mall. I always enjoyed the food and I am happy there's a location a bit easier to get to in Wildwood. This restaurant is an order-at-the-register place, and although it's not easy to tell, they do serve a decent (although not particularly fantastic) margarita, frozen or on the rocks. The Staff is friendly and the food is good quality. The price is okay. I like the decor, and am always amazed at the variation in light fixtures that somehow go together. My only issue isn't really with the food itself, it's just that I don't like Cilantro and it's in most of the sauces and also in the rice. So, there isn't a lot on the menu I can happily consume. [Pandemic review - 2020] I would say this place is more like a 3.5/5. If you just need some fish tacos at a reasonable price, this is it. If you are allergic to fish, they do have non-fish options. I got a non-fish taco platter. It comes with two tacos and rice and beans. Very filling for the price. Taste-wise it was nothing spectacular that would make me want to come back. But this is a value restaurant in my opinion. There was limited seating inside. Since I came during the pandemic, there was a mask policy when not eating.
