We have lived in Bethesda for quite some time now, and we finally made it to Fish Taco. The place was busy on a Saturday afternoon. The ordering system is easy. There are ample tables available for patrons. The menu is extensive. I thought the food was mediocre. I was disappointed with how small the portion sizes were, especially at such a steep price tag. Wow! What a fantastic meal at Fish Taco. I adore their grilled fish - succulent, flavorful, and smoky, with char lines to show its cred. I had it served over greens with avocado, jicama and red onion. A lightly creamy lime dressing was served on the side. What a joy - everything was perfect. I think the grilled fish is the way to go here - it looked so much better than the small chunks of battered fish that is the restaurant's "signature style." I can also recommend the Mexican style corn. I watched in astonishment as my companions gobbled it down. However, the margarita on the rocks was small and weak. If you really want a drink, you'd better make it a double. But I'd rather save my money on that one. Order at the counter and have a seat in one of the booths or tables. Terrible experience here. I wake up at 5:00 AM to go to work work all day and on my way home I decide to get my family a nice meal. I pick up my meal and open the bag to find they've left the guacamole, the only thing my 6 year old daughter will eat, out of my order. I call asking for a refund and the lady on the phone says they'd be happy to make more if I order it on door dash. They wouldn't refund me and wouldn't apologize. I really liked the fish tacos from here. Their classic one was my favorite. I liked the salmon taco but I'm not a huge fan of corn so I'd see if I could get it with other toppings next time. A random stopped turned into a wonderful dining experience. My coworkers and I were originally supposed to dine at a nearby restaurant but wanted something more casual instead. We decided on Fish Taco because we have a few that have dietary restrictions (I'm GF) and we all love Mexican food. The decor is modern but casual. A very open space and friendly staff. We were allowed to put two tables together to accommodate our party and we all went up to order. The process was quick and the food was served within less than 10 minutes. I ordered the Ancho Shrimp Taco combo and it was amazing! It came with 2 shrimp tacos and it was topped with a cabbage slaw, sauce and some pico de gallo. Came here to grab a quick lunch upon recommendation of some friends. One orders at the counter and gets a number so the service staff brings your food to your table. We shared a bowl of their home made guacamole and their fresh corn tortilla chips. I ordered a Chicken Rice Bowl which was a generous amount of chicken over rice and bens and pico de gallo, charred corn, crema, and guajillo sauce. My friends had the Blackened Fish Salad which had a mix of greens, tomato, mango, jicama, avocado, red onion, cotija cheese, and lime vinaigrette This place was hopping with take out orders and its fair share of dine in customers but it was not chaotic. Overall, a solid place to go for a quick bite. The food is pretty cheap ($10-12) for a chicken quesadilla - my go to order. It's always ready in 5-10 minutes and the staff is always very friendly. The only reason I'm knocking off 1 star is because I got the chips and queso the other day and the queso's texture was grainy. The taste was good, but not sure why it was grainy. What I like? - Chicken tortilla soup which is quite flavorful though a tad salty - Crispy signature fish tacos with black beans and rice: a generous portion, perfectly crispy, fresh ingredients, nice and balanced. The hot sauce on the side is excellent and packs a good punch. What I'll skip: - blackened fish tacos: lacking in flavor - rice bowl which I had with the signature crispy fish: the combo of vegetables isn't right. It shouldn't have raw carrot cubes and lots of raw bell peppers and corn. There's also too much mayo. I'll go tacos next time. Excellent and quick and helpful and efficient service. It's also a fine fast casual space. I appreciate that there are plates and utensils and takeout containers out to speed up the dining experience. read more

I am back to add another review! I keep having these AMAZING experiences with Fishtaco! My job tasked me with ordering lunch for the team and they went with Fishtaco. Online ordering is not available until they open at 11am and I needed this food by 12pm. That had me a bit worried. I submitted my order at 11:20am and it was ready by 11:45am! There were no mistakes in our order for 14 people! I cannot wait to see Fishtaco offer catering and/or group ordering. That way ordering for a larger party is a bit easier. I thought the tacos here were decent. I got them plain without any veggies. My favorite thing I got here was the elote. I liked the toppings for the corn and the way that it was charred. It's been awhile since I've been to Fish Taco and I honestly wasn't a fan of one of their other locations. However, I'm glad I gave it another chance. I've been here twice now and have gotten their signature fish. Definitely a solid choice weather you eat it in tacos or a rice bowl. The fish is crispy, battered well, and not oily. If you choose to go with the taco platter, the cabbage offers a nice refreshing crunch. I also like how the signature sauce isn't heavily poured onto the taco. Along with your tacos, you have a choice of rice & beans. If you are in the mood for something lighter, the salad is a great option. The rice bowl is also good with the signature fish. In addition to the rice and beans, your bowl comes with charred corn (delicious!), pickled jalapeño, and their signature sauce. Service is quick and friendly. Since this location is within walking distance of my office, I can see myself frequenting Fish Taco quite a bit. Definitely deadly! We got our food at an acceptable time but still should have been better. The inside was ok and the seating was nice. I'm a huge fan of Fish Taco! I discovered this gem many years ago at the Old Georgetown Rd. location and I've enjoyed their food ever since. It's the perfect place to get a quick bite if you're looking for something fresh and delicious. This location is very spacious and had plenty of seating area. They're known for their taco platters and my favorite is the Signature Fish Taco the crispy-beer battered fish is perfectly paired with the signature sauce. It comes with a side of rice and beans so the meal can be very filling. I highly recommend their elote (mexican corn) for starters, I give it a 5/5. It tasted surprisingly similar to the elote I've had in Mexico. I ordered the Adobo Chicken Bowl during my visit and it tasted average. The bowl had too much sour cream and adobo sauce which soaked the rice and beans. It had a good amount of protein but it made it very difficult to eat with the drenched rice. Overall, I'm still a fan of Fish Taco and I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't tried it. read more
