I love Don Pollo! I seem to live really close to one every time I move Their Peruvian chicken is just sooo tasty and you can smell just how good it tastes from the moment you step through the door. The staff greeted me when I walked in and took my order right away. I didn't have to wait long for my order. I ordered their Half chicken with two sides. My two sides were Chaufa rice and plantains! While the sides were really good, The star of the show, without a doubt, is their Peruvian chicken. Marinated to perfection with a blend of Peruvian spices and slow-roasted to achieve that golden, crispy skin while keeping the meat juicy and flavorful. Portion sizes are generous! I ate this meal for dinner and then lunch the next day! This location also has parking right out front and you can sit inside to eat if you want. They have small tables that are minimally decorated. Overall, will be back here again! read more

Don Pollo - Half 1/2 Chicken With 2 Sides - Latin American Near Me - Rockville, Maryland

I was looking for a quick place for lunch and the siren call of Peruvian chicken reeled me in. I've never been to Don Pollo as I usually go to Sardi's, but this was perfect. The food came out quick and was a great price. The chicken blew my mind- moist, tasty, hot, just perfect. I loved the plantains too. I ate in the restaurant which was clean and the staff were so nice. Highly recommend! read more

The food here is so good! I just love their rice and plantains and my family loves their chicken!! I could eat here on a regular basis lol. The cashiers are always sweet and the place is always clean. I've never had a bad experience here and I crush my plate every visit. Good eats for a good price and they're pretty quick with all the traffic. Great for lunch or dinner. read more

So good!! Place was hopping!! Placed an order via their website. Food was ready when we got there. Chicken was great, lots of great sides. Only down side was my daughter ordered the LOMO SALTADO which comes with steak fries and rice. At first we thought the fries were missing but they were buried under the steak and vegetables causing them to be soaked and soggy with meat juice. Other than that it was a great experience! read more

At first I was very reluctant to go in because of all of the vagrants congregating and yelling in front of the restaurant. I waited about 15 minutes for the festivities to calm down but eventually I just got out of my car and scurried into the restaurant hoping not to be accosted. I was pleased to be greeted by a pleasant young man who took my order. He said it would be about 10 to 15 minutes before the order would be ready. True to his word the order was ready at about 12 minutes in. I took the food home and I was absolutely delighted at the result. I ordered Pollo Soltado and it was prepared perfectly. I asked for the potatoes to be packed separately and they did so which I appreciated. I'm not a food critic but I've had this dish at many, many restaurants and this was definitely in the top 25%. Nicely done hermanos. read more

Very expensive for what you get and my order is frequently incorrect or chickens were disappointingly small, and I found the staff to be unfriendly. I used to love this place, but quality is going downhill. I'm going to try a couple of other Peruvian chicken places near by. Further, charging customers a credit card fee when they just spent $50 buying food in your establishment just isn't right. read more

I was in the area with a friend and wanted to grab something to eat. They brought me here and mentioned it was Peruvian, so that piqued my interest. The first thing I did was look on Yelp for their rating - I was so relieved to see that it was 4 stars out of 5 (made me feel more comfortable in ordering). As we entered the business, the first thing you see (right in front of you) is a case with lots of drinks (juices, sodas and water). To the right of that is the counter where the cashier will take your order and behind them is the kitchen. On this visit I ordered a meal - 1/4 Dark Chicken with 2 sides. They also offer bigger portions of the chicken, Soup & Salad and Specialty Dishes. For my 2 sides I got Plantains and Rice. The Rice is normally served with Beans, but I opted out from having the beans. The chicken was cooked perfectly as I remember enjoying the pieces as I ate; The rice was was cooked great (shelly) and the plantains were plentiful and made right. Other sides I would love to try is their Yuca, Potato Salad or Mashed Potatoes, French Fries, Mac & Cheese and Corn Pico (they have other sides in addition to what I listed). The price I paid total, for 1/4 chicken, 2 sides and a drink, was very affordable and they gave a good enough portion of the items as well. I would love to come back and try more stuff, maybe even one of their desserts (their menu shows 4 with Tres Leches being one of them). There are several tables and chairs available to sit on and eat at, but you can do carry-out too. They do have 2 restrooms in the back (one for female, the other for male - only for one person each). The biz is located in the same plaza as Lotte Plaza Grocery, but at the other end, near the CVS. read more

"It was fine" my wife said when I asked for her input for this review. We both had quarter white meat with two sides. She had the fried rice and salad and I had the mashed potatoes and salad. You can get any kind of dressing you want as long as it is the one they serve. The mashed potatoes were outstanding with a hint of garlic. The chicken was good, I was hoping for crispier skin but the meat was tender and juicy. The fried rice was a little greasy. Food was ready when we arrived to pick it up. Definitely a carry out place. It was fine. read more

The food here is great. Pretty authentic Peruvian. I got ceviche and my husband got lomo saltado. Both were good but were smaller portions than their other locations. I'll return but likely to their other locations. read more

Don Pollo surpassed my expectations! It was very busy when we arrived, but there is a lot of parking in a lot in front. I'll wait in line just to order yucca from this location. They're always hot and fresh when I get them. And the portion is great! I came here on a Friday afternoon for some takeout, it was not packed and I waited about 5 minutes for my order. I ordered 1/4 white meat chicken with two sides for $8. The chicken was average, but a little dry and flavorless. I ordered mashed potatoes and mac and cheese as my sides, they do not skimp on sides here... the staff filled my takeout box to the brim. The mashed potatoes were decent... but lacked flavor, I wish it came with some type of gravy drizzled over to add some flavor. The mac and cheese was okay... a little watery though -_- I was given two TINY complimentary containers of sauce, one was a white sauce and one was a green sauce... the white sauce tasted like bland mayonnaise and the green sauce tasted like slightly spicy mayonnaise. I prefer the green sauce over the white sauce, but I wish they gave you more since the chicken really needed the added flavor :( For $8 for the portion of food you get is a steal. Yes... the food is a little bland here, so as long as you have some hot sauce, gravy, etc. ready at home I would recommend this spot. I would come here again if I am in the area. Don Pollo is located in a shopping center off Veirs Mill Road, it shares a huge parking lot with multiple retailers so parking should not be an issue. I had no issues with the staff, they took my order and got my food out to my quickly. read more

If you need some Peruvian chicken fix in Rockville, this is the place to go. Came here with my boyfriend and a friend - we ordered a whole chicken. It came with 2 sides. We choose the fried rice and yuca fries. It also came with two sauces (green sauce and yellow sauce). The green sauce is a bit spicy and the yellow sauce is creamy. I like to dip my chicken in a mixture of the two sauces! For $20 it was worth it. The portions were big and you get the most for your money! For a party of 3 we still had leftovers so this is perfect for 4 people. The chicken was cooked well. (Comes with 2 dark meat and 2 white meat). The yuca fries are deliciously crispy. The fried rice went well with the chicken. read more

Went this evening around 8 PM and stood there in the entry hall as the staff stood at the counters taking to each other and ignoring us. Waited for anyone to come greet us but they were too busy taking among themselves - 3 girls and a guy and a girl at the register...there was only one party seated and the rest of the restaurant was empty. I've never been here and it was a small place outside in a rather i exciting plaza. They get one star for ignoring us. We drove across town to Silver Diner which is always friendly and good food. read more

Got some delivery Peruvian chicken with black beans and veggies from Don Pollo. The chicken itself was juicy and the skin had a nice spicy kick to it. The accompanying sauces - especially a yellow one - worked really well with chicken. I wish the chicken had even smoke flavor but this is a fine rendition of a signature dish in the DC area. While the non-chicken portions were super generous, I wasn't able to finish them. However, I think most people would think of that as a solution rather than a problem. In any event, I'd order from here again. read more

For some reason it has been years since we've gotten food from Don Pollo. (I think it was because we TOTALLY overdid it a while ago and took a loooong break). This location isn't as fancy as the newer Gaither Rd one, but this is far more convenient for us. The chicken is as delicious as we remember. Tender, salty, yumminess. I ordered a whole chicken meal with 4 sides - corn pico, yucca, chaufa rice and coleslaw. Portions are huge, probably appropriate for 4 people, as advertised, a little much for 2 hungry people and a toddler . Totally worth the $30. Just wish yucca fries kept better, I ate WAY more than I should have read more

I picked up carry out from here earlier today and wow was it amazing!! This is possibly the best Peruvian chicken I've had in the area. My favorite is Super Chicken in Vienna but now that I'm working from home, it's too far of a commute. The portions at Don Pollo are really generous! The food was fresh, and the chicken was really flavorful. I'm not a fan of Sardis or Crisp n Juicy because I think they're dry, lack flavor and just don't taste that clean. I'd prefer this any day! They have a nice variety of sides too! Definitely something to please everyone. Also, they had a nice system going to keep people away from each other during the pandemic and all employees were wearing masks, avoiding any kind of direct contact. Definitely worth trying! read more

They always make sure to serve some rotten food or food from the day before or days before. they are very dishonest.

Insanely delicious! We were in the area for a family drive (what else are you going to do during COVID?) when we smelled this AMAZING smell of roasting chicken coming from some restaurant nearby. We turned around and searched and guessed that it was coming from this restaurant, which turns out to be a local chain that we had never tried. We ordered online and hung out in the parking lot until it was ready. We got a full chicken and two sides, which was plenty for us. The five stars are for the chicken--it was the best chicken we have had in a VERY long time from a restaurant! We also got coleslaw (5 stars) and rice and beans (2 stars--needs more seasoning). We will for sure be back, and the prices were SO reasonable! read more

I used to eat here because the chicken was decent and they were pretty close to my house. However, don Pollo has become too expensive. I used to get 1/2 chicken w/ 2 sides for about $13. Went to their site today and it was $17 and that didn't mention the sides but I assume they were included.. I'll pass at that price and make my own chicken at home. El Pollo Rico has the best chicken in the region in my opinion and they have a higher rating than Don Pollo on Yelp. The 1/2 chicken and sides is way less and they have bigger pieces and better chicken. Don Pollo is a little closer to me but I'll now drive the extra few min and go to El Pollo Rico instead. Can't no longer afford Don Pollo 2-3 times a week for lunch. read more

Excellent juicy and tender charcoal roasted chicken. I can't believe some Peruvian places have abandoned the charcoal. Charcoal gives so Much flavor to the Chicken. Please don't skimp on this. But don pollo does not disappoint. They have enough chickens on the charcoal spit to feed all of their hungry patrons. Flavorful juicy chicken. The fried yuca are so Delicious. I bring extra home and warm them to extra crispy and hot in a 400 degree oven on cookie sheets. Always a crowd pleaser. Great client service. I do wish they would be more conscientious about the plastic for the sauces and ask customers how much they need or have them fill their own larger containers to save plastic. read more

Food was great and all BUT When ordering the fiesta for four, I imagined my fiesta receiving four individual sauces to enjoy with our meals. Nothing hurts more than knowing that you don't have sauce for your enormous 1/4 piece chicken. I enjoyed choking on the dry texture while imagining that I dipped it in the sauce. I just want to be explained who packed my order. What kind of cruel person are you to pack just one sauce for a fiesta for FOUR individuals. There's a special place for where you're going!! I'm traumatized, my throat still hurts from the dry swallowing. Please for future reference pack FOUR sauces for a fiesta for-four individuals!!!! it only makes sense. thank you!!! read more

The chicken is very salty even the sauces are salty. This makes it very difficult to enjoy the food. Please season your chicken with real seasonings!! This is not noted on the menu so if you have a problem with black beans just note that when you're ordering rice and beans read more

Pretty good place for Peruvian chicken. The Yucca fries are amazing! The chicken was pretty good, although a bit dry. The cucumber salad wasn't that great, but it tasted fresh and had a great crunch. Excellent food and service! I've been coming here for years until we moved. I saw some of the same faces for many years. These people are hard working and polite! They never got my order wrong! Since I now live further I'd still drive here to order food. Had an issue with the Germantown location which please try to avoid at all cause- worse customer service and can't get the orders right. Not to mention the worse manager by the name of Maria at Germantown location!! I want to give kudos to the Twinbrook location- their manager Dennis and another manager wanted to make things right even though they were not at fault! I had the 1/4 white meat chicken meal with a salad and plantain. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the yellow sauce was a great addition. I just wish it came with more sauce. I didn't care for the green sauce because I don't like spicy food. Friends of mine love the green sauce though. The salad was simple but very fresh, and the dressing was perfect. The plantain were also very good. The whole meal was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant for great Peruvian food! read more

Don Pollo - 1/4 white meat chicken, salad, and plantain. Everything was delicious! - Latin American Near Me - Rockville, Maryland

My chicken cravings have definitely been satisfied after coming here! Don Pollo offers superb Peruvian chicken at a pocket-friendly price. Where it's located may seem a little sketchy, but if you can look past that fact you'll be in for a treat. The chicken I got was delightfully crispy on the outside (you've got to admit that the skin is probably the best part!), and juicy on the inside. It's the type of chicken you want to eat until nothing is left but the bare bones. The rich, savory flavor is unmatched by some of the other chicken places in the area. The two sides I got were the yuca and plantains. The yuca here was done right. It was cooked to perfection with a soft interior and crispy exterior. They're kinda like french fries, only WAY better. The plantains were sweet and filling -- it's the best side to end with because it'll balance out with the rest of the savory flavors in your meal. As for the sauces, I couldn't decide on which one I liked better. The green sauce had a fresh, garden-y taste with a slight kick to it. The yellow-ish one was creamier and smoother in texture. Both are good dipping sauces for the yuca and/or the chicken! Don Pollo definitely earned my seal of approval. The crispy skin and the juiciness of the chicken are a huge win in my book! I'm pretty glad I discovered this little gem of a place. read more

Three and a half stars. Lots of seating inside this common pit stop for local firemen, and plentiful shared plaza parking. Chicken on the Run in Bethesda has the superior chop chop, but I wouldn't mind repeating one here. Here the meat is less shredded but also less tender, served with half the salad portioning, stickier rice, enough cooked black bens to douse, and a plainer green sauce. Don Pollo's third lemony sauce provides extra citrus notes where desired. Beverage fridge includes sodas and coconut water. Perhaps their rotisserie platters retain more flavor, but I'm more likely to explore their aguadito, yuca, and plantains next. read more

Just when you thought that you've had the best Peruvian chicken from one of the 7 quadrillion Peruvian chicken places in the suburbs of Maryland, you taste Don Pollo. It's almost as if they have taken the chicken skin off the chicken, fried it, and then delicately sewn it back on to the most tender meat that'll ever caress your palate. Hail the Don of Pollo! Don Quixote, Don Carlo, Don Juan, nor Don-ald Duck have got nothin' on this king of chicken. The coleslaw was creamy. The magical pink sauce was spot on and the yuca: ¡ que delicioso! User Tip: If you order a separate side of yuca, it's enough for four to five people. Getting your money's worth with mega tasty food is icing on top of the cake. Or maybe I should say, "Caramel on top of the flan." read more

I ordered whole chicken with no side dishes. I was shocked how oily the chicken was, dripped with oil. I had to oven roast it again at home to somehow make it edible for dinner.
