In the cu-cu-cut! However, once you find this little hidden gem it is SO worth it! I was a little thrown off by the location but due to the amazing reviews I wanted to give it a try. Upon walking it, it seemed pretty busy with a bunch of people standing around waiting for their food. The woman who took my order was nice but nothing over the top. I decided to order the half chicken with fries and rice, 2 cheese pupusas and the flan. I knew this would be entirely too much to eat but I wanted to try a little of everything. The food was AMAZING!! So delicious, so fresh and seasoned really well. My favorite was the chicken or the flan and my least favorite was the pupusa. I literally only get the pupusa because all the reviews raved about it. It was good however it tasted very floury which makes sense since I believe she said it was flour and cheese. The flan was to die for! I never thought flan could be bad until I ordered it from this one restaurant and it was not edible. BUT THIS FLAN! Yass so good. The chicken was so hot and so juicy! I love their yellow sauce as well. It wasn't as thick in consistency as other pollo restaurants but it had its own special kick. Even the rice and fries were better than I expected! I was driving by Pollo a la Vista, and noticed a lot of contractor trucks in the parking lot. That's always a good sign, so I stopped. They have a menu board with photos but no prices. I ordered a quarter chicken, two sides and a beverage, and my total came to $8.10. The chicken was perfectly cooked: crispy skin and very moist inside. The beans were fantastic. (That's saying something since my family loves beans.) The steak cut fries were--well--steak cut fries: nothing special. Everything was beautifully presented, and the service was fast and courteous. The restaurant was very clean. I visited the restroom, and that was clean, too. I accidentally flipped the entire cup of mayonnaise-based dipping sauce into my crotch. Unfortunately the only reason I'm giving this place 1 star is because there empanadas de platano are good and will be the only reason i will go back. The place is small and definitely needs to be cleaned up or repainted. Order sopa de mondongo and OMG it tasted as if they've reheated that soup over 10 times the meat in the soup was super over cooked and the broth didn't have good flavor. We order steaks platter as well that came with some rice beans and salad. The food just is a hit or miss. read more

When my husband suggested that we celebrate Tolkien's birthday tonight by eating out (with much whining and prompting from me), I was excited. When he mentioned a Peruvian charcoal chicken place - a mere 2 miles from us, well, I nearly ran over the kids crossing the street to get to this place! Set behind the railroads, next to the charming little community, yet still on the wrong side of the tracks, of Washington Grove, this little stand alone building looks completely out of place, yet so appropriate. Inside, lit by unforgiving florescent lights, and the glow of Telemundo from the corner flat screen, the restaurant had plenty of seating, and was very clean and aroma-free. The aroma-free part should have been our first clue that something is amiss. We promptly order a chicken, 2 chicken tamales, 2 mixed papusas, and an order of yucca. We were promptly told that the grill is on the fritz, so no grilled chicken. Shocked and saddened, we order the steak lomido. Then we were promptly told that they have no more chicken tamales. I'm about to cry at this point, but my husband, wise that he is, asked if they had plain corn tamales, which they fortunately did. I was a little annoyed that the cashier lady didn't offer up the corn tamales as an option, but I'm so demoralized by the lack of delicious Peruvian grilled chicken that I'm surprised I didn't throw myself onto the train tracks. The yucca were DELICIOUS! Most definitely the best yucca I've had. Golden, flaky, hot, and crisp, each bit of yucca made me yearn for more. The mustard-mayo sauce that came with it - eh, not so much. But then, I'm one of those terrible people that put ketchup on their yucca. Also amazingly delicious were the papusas. They were big, and thick, and surprisingly non-greasy! The filling was moist and well seasoned, and everything was even and proportional. The red salsa sauce that was served with it was disappointingly wet and runny, without any flavor (I ended up using tabasco), and the small pinch of the pickled cabbage was not sour enough. No matter, the papusa was delicious enough to make up for these shortcomings. The tamales were fried - which was surprising to me. Hot, and sweet, and full of moist corn flavor, I definitely understand where they are coming from, however a deep fried tamale? I just don't know. I really just don't know. The steak lomido was also very tasty, with the two over medium eggs a perfect touch. The fried plantains, although prepared well, just wasn't my thing (I don't like cooked fruit), but the salad that was served with it, needed dressing or something. The rice on the side was very well seasoned and tasty, but hard, as if they scraped it from the bottom of the rice-cooker. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not. If it is, then it's brilliantly yummy. If it wasn't, then gosh darn it, I need to remove a star! Definitely plan on coming back in a few weeks to try to chicken. It's like going to a steak house. Sure the baked potato may be tasty, and heck, they can even make a good chocolate cake, but really, no one goes to a steakhouse for potatoes or cake. They are there for the steak. I'm here for the chicken, dammit. Hopefully, I'll be able to add a star or two to this review the next time I go... read more

So I drive by this place on the way to and from work and have always wondered about it. I saw the old restaurant close down and have wondered if it's because of the location. It's seriously 25 feet from the train tracks on an industrial back road. It's open for breakfast/lunch/dinner and I have never seen it really busy. So I decided to stop by today and check it out. I ordered a mixed pupusa and beef taco. I was surprised when the beef taco was actually more like a steak taco, so it was a good surprise. The mixed pupusa was pretty good. They also have a cheese/zucchini pupusa that I'm really interested in trying for next time. From my 2 choices, I'd say the food is pretty good! I'll have to try the charcoal chicken next time and their breakfast menu is pretty inexpensive also. They had the standard choices like eggs, sausage, bacon but they also have a Salvadorean breakfast option that has eggs, sausage, fried plantains and beans. So the food's great, but they're definitely still working out the kinks. They have menus on the walls and a picture menu behind the counter but no prices. The only way to find out was to ask or look at the carry out menu. I didn't get out of there for almost 20 minutes either because the credit card machine wasn't working right. I had to wait for someone else's credit card to go through and then wait for mine. Made me a little nervous, but I don't think anything shady was going on. Overall, I hope they work these things out because the food is good and inexpensive. read more

Price: Very affordable Food: The taste is not the issue, while not being the best I ever tasted, its o.k. First time I had ordered the Rotisserie and while I found the chicken on the smaller side, I noticed the skin was missing on some of the pieces. To my surprise they put it on the spit then they stick it on the grill to cook more ( this is not what I observed, but what was explained to me by the woman there). They replaced it no problems. I have had their Pupusas which I ate next several times. This last time was pretty much the end for me. I ordered a chicken tamal. I had a bite and a sharp item was in the meat. Wow! I wasn't sure what it was but white in color. I chewed a lil more and another piece. I could only imagine it was bone. Here I go again calling in the bones in my tamal. The woman on the other end did not seem phased that I found it. She said something as to... yes, they put it in or cooked in? I never have experienced that ever! My favorite place to get pupusas and cortidos. Its a pretty long drive for me, but is right near where my car mechanic works. I make a point of stopping by every time my car needs to get repairs or an oil change. Delicious stuff. read more

Chicken in sight. This place is great for take out. The food is good and the price is fair. The people are friendly enough if you make an effort to communicate with them. The dining room lacks any atmosphere, it's difficult to enjoy dinner with a TV blaring spanish comedy. The patio dining never seems to be set up for use or occupied at any time. It's down by the tracks, industrial warehouse road. The building sat vacant for a long time and I am glad to see someone making a go of it. I recently discovered this place on accident and boy, am I happy that I found this small place because it was surprisingly good! In the moco wasteland it is hard to get good food due to bigger corporate owned restaurants having more funds. The prices at this place are very compareable to a lot of the chicken places I have been to, as a matter of fact they were a couple bucks cheaper then most places and the food I got was so fresh and delicious.
