The best Peruvian food in the area at really good prices! You get large portions for much better deals than many other Peruvian restaurants in the area. I've only done takeout from the Nibbler, but it is just a small place in a strip mall next to the Dunkin Donuts and Papa John's. It doesn't have frills or look fancy inside, but that's not what you're here for. You're here for good af Peruvian food and that's what you'll get. My husband and I still prefer the Nibbler over other fancier Peruvian places simply because their food tastes like home cooking, not food that just came out of the kitchen of a restaurant and you can't beat that. It's always consistent, always quick, and the staff are very friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. read more

This quaint establishment was casual and provided a family-type of atmosphere. The employees were very kind and the service was very quick. We started with the beef and chicken empanadas and tamale. Flavor was good, but I wish the empanadas were crispier. The tamale was okay, the filling was lacking and it was a little difficult to pinpoint any kind of flavor. My husband's steak was inconsistent in the cook and the French fries lacked salt. The bite of steak I had was delicious and the fries were salty enough for my husband. The ropa vieja was delicious, but again, could use more seasoning. The meat was tender but crispy on the outside and paired with black beans, rice, and plantains, it was a tasty combination both flavor-wise and texture-wise. We would come back to expand our exposure to Peruvian food. read more

It's been way too long and today I had to make a return but this time I placed my order thru DoorDash for pickup. The app is so easy to use and it even gives you updates on your order which is perfect! I had to try something different this time and based on I seen on the reviews the choice was easy plus I figured why not also add dessert too. GRILLED SALMON w. RICE & FRENCH FRIES OMGGGG this was beyond amazing and filling. The salmon seemed to be flattened then grilled which is unique but no complaints. I added onions, avocado, rice and fries which were a good balance of flavor and different textures. At the last minute I added red beans and oh my this was so delicious and gave rice the juice it needed. I savored EVERY last bite, this was a huge portion and to be honest can be shared (I personally rather save some for later since I refuse to share this amazing food). Oh I forgot, I finally tried this Green Sauce & when I tell you this sealed the deal Mmmmm yummy!!! I'm so mad I took so long to try this sauce but going forward I'm getting it lol. BANANA TRES LECHE This right here is the TRUTH!!! OhMyGoodness this was extremely amazing. I'm not a huge banana fan but this cake was delightful. From the instant smells of cinnamon and banana to the extremely moist banana and milk infused cake, this is definitely a MUST HAVE!!!! So good, I'm beyond shocked and grateful for this. I'm definitely coming back for more. Customer service was and still is AMAZING! My order was ready when I got there and the last assisted me with pleasure. I recognize the warm welcoming and embrace and so grateful for it. Place was beautiful and clean, like I've say before, it has a house feeling and so intimate. Overall, this place has my heart and should have yours too! read more

I should have known better!!! A "Peruvian" restaurant with a name like The Nibbler? I regret not following my instincts and leaving as soon as I stepped in. The lomo saltado was chewy, hard, without flavor, just salt. Definitely will not return. read more

Pros: Some very delicious Peruvian dishes, including their specials like their bistek, lomo saltado, ropa vieja Neutral: small, family-owned. Menu, not particularly impressive. Ambience includes mural of the old country (Peru). Cons: no fresh chicha morada. Compared to the likes of Picca pollo a la brasa, this place is small cakes. read more

Fantastic food and friendly service. This place is awesome and worth the drive out. Be sure to try the empanadas.

I'm giving it 3 stars because it has potential, but there are now much more consistently great Peruvian places in the area. I've had better here in the past, and I like to support independently owned places which are few and far between around here. That said, I paid just under $16 for a lunch which consisted of a very tough Ropa Vieja and a bottle of soda. That's expensive for a par quality lunch. The squeeze bottle sauces were great, the rice was good, and the flavor was good. I would have appreciated something else for that price in addition to tender meat (bread, fries, beans, salad, garnish...anything!) What arrived was flavorful but tough meat on top of rice. I could see a little pepper and onion mixed in. (I uploaded a picture) I'll be back, but I'll try something else. The proudly acclaimed Ropa Vieja did not deliver today. This should be a 2 star review, as it was clearly "meh, i've experienced better." ** EDIT - had the grilled chicken thighs today. It's the last numbered item on the menu, #11 I think. The chicken, rice and beans were very good. Sauces also good as usual. The corn and jalapenos that came with the dish where so badly charred (burnt) that they were inedible. No one with real pride in what they were selling would put that on your plate. Portion size was adequate, not large. read more

The Nibbler - #4 - Tough Ropa on tasty rice w/ not much else. $12. I'm sure it is better on other days, but not today... - Peruvian Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

The concept of The Nibbler is wonderful: cute family owned neighborhood spot serving homey Peruvian dishes. However, the delivery does not match up. It was not very cozy inside and instead actually really cold. I was freezing and the woman at the table next to me was so cold she was still wearing her large coat. I asked them to turn on the heat but they didn't seem to be able to do this. So I then asked for them to just bring me some hot water at least. We tried the Llapingchos, which are pan fried potato cakes filled with muenster cheese garnished with lettuce, avocado and tomato. They were good, but I understand that these Ecuadoran Potato Cakes should have a peanut sauce which was not there. For the Lomo Saltado, sauteed flank steak with onions, tomatoes, and cilantro over fries with rice, we asked them to substitute the French fries for yuca fries, which they didn't mind doing. This was really good, and I really liked the sauce and yuca. Recommended. We didn't really like the Aji De Gallina, pulled chicken cooked in a milk, cheese, garlic and onion sauce served with potatoes, hard boiled egg and black olives. Perhaps we just didn't like the flavor. This was my first time trying it so I don't know if it was made correctly or not. The side of Fried Plantains wasn't bad but nothing so special. I think I prefer plaintains when they are soft and not like chips. I think this place is overrated. It could be really great but they need to make some changes. read more

I was so excited to have a Peruvian joint near my new home - that quickly dissipated as soon as I walked in. The owners are not Peruvian, they bought the place from Peruvians. I didn't discriminate right there and then though. I waited until I got the food...the lomo was sub-par (being nice). I can't even explain it, it was terrible. Chewy, not flavorful, the sauces don't taste authentic to me either. Ambience? Place looks okay, but it was FREEZING... Customer Service? Great! Sorry, if the food aint good, I'm just not going back. For some unexplained reason my husband went two more times to try out other items...he hasn't been back every since. That says a lot since he's constantly buying Peruvian food (he is from Peru btw). read more

My friend introduced me to this place and I've loved it ever since! Its in a shopping complex with burger king, etc. Its a pretty small place but cozy and has a relaxed attitude. Cute interior. Every time I come here I always get the ropa or the steak with the fried egg on top (forget what its called...bistec a la...??). Sooo good. And the sauces are amazing. It comes with two homemade sauces, mild green sauce and spicy yellow. The green sauce is fabulous. The sauces are always filled to the brim in a squirt bottle and I always end up eating about 1/4 of the bottle before I leave. It's that good. If you come during dinner time they serve the steak/egg with yuka fries. Really good also. Its a little pricier during dinner time but still worth it because they give you bread and other extra items. read more

e0n and I got the pulled beef on rice (#4). Really good, but had some dried out bits. I'll give them a pass considering we walked in 30 min before close on a Sunday. Kylun got the chicken (#1 lomo saltado) and said it was enjoyable, but he was eye-balling my beef, so I think that's what he really wanted. All the food was fantastic. Very tasty! Came here after work the other day with my girlfriend. It was very empty when we first got there. We also realized that most of the people got it to go, but it's hard to imagine it tasting any better. I ordered the Bistec a la Limena, which was a 5 oz. NY Sirloin Steak with fried plantains, french fries, and a fried egg. I don't need to be Peruvian to know whether or not a piece of steak is good. The steak was a bit over cooked and WAY over seasoned. It was really really salty and was very difficult to finish. Thankfully it came with rice, but it doesn't hide the fact that it's too salty. I'm not going to let this one experience tarnish my view on Peruvian food. I honestly wouldn't come back here again knowing that there's other Peruvian spots in the Moco area to enjoy and try. read more

Yrs ago the food was good Fast forward to tonight I ordered 2 tamales which were mealy n had strips of hard boiled eggs that tasted n felt like 2 rubber bands. Totally disgusting Black beans no seasoning no taste not even a touch of salt. Horrible Palm heart salad good but how can anyone go wrong by opening a jar of hearts of palm n put it on lettuce? Dressing nice Shredded beef dry n chewy. Totally gross One can of Diet Coke One cup of lukewarm water. Had to ask for ice Poor service Best part of meal? Hot rolls n butter. Total for meal: 50.00!!! Outrageous rip off! Will never go again. My advice? Save ur money n run for the hills!! read more

Been coming here for years. Rowena the owner is very nice and accommodating. Small restaurant and it looks like somewhat of a dive but don't be fooled by appearance. Lomo saltado is amazing. Strongly encourage anyone who hasn't been here to give it a shot. read more

I was first introduced to the Nibbler by my former roomey, then I introduced to my next friend, and then the next...so now we all go together! It's OUR spot. The lomo saltado is one of their best dishes, steak with peppers and onions and limed rice with peas and french fries with the green sauce...*speechless*...and the just-out--of-oven rolls are the best rolls I've ever had. Just plain bread, no seasoning, no nothin'. The art work and easy lighting give a feel of Miami, the mom-and-pop shop type restaurants run by a family, very low key and casual. This place is so good, that my friend's crazy, psycho BF (now ex, thank god) was super pissed that she went their with us instead of him, claiming: "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD DO THAT TO ME. THAT'S OUR SPOT! AND WE CAN ONLY GO THERE TOGETHER!" (he's full of that lovely bitchassness 'tude) Yea, it's that good. read more

I drive from Silver Spring to try this ace because I had heard good things about it, but it failed to live up to my expectations. The potatoes aren't fresh but rather frozen french fries, the lomo is a bit chewy. The sauce is EXTREMELY watered down, such that it doesn't even sit on top of the food but sinks through the food right to the bottom. The lomo saltado is $13, and it is not worth it. It could be that I'm trying to match the Peruvian food I had while living in South America, this doesn't even come close tho. The flavor isn't bad read more

A buddy brought me to this place and stressed how delicious their ropa vieja is. 100% of my Cuban friends in the DMV area say there are no good Cuban places around, but there are some places that can whip up some dishes pretty well. This is one of those places. I loved my ropa vieja. You walk in to a cozy restaurant with the wall and deco painted as if you were in a village in Peru. Quite surprising to see the owners are Filipino, so I'll admit, my guard was up. They were extremely friendly and gave us exceptional service and were extra attentive. We started with empanadas. They were Peruvian style where they were baked. They were just decent, but all the other Peruvian places I've tried them were better, stuffed with more, and larger. They were served with sour cream. My ropa vieja was quite delicious. The beef was very flavorful and served on a bed of rice with beans on the side along with plantains. My 1st bite had me in bliss. My friends both had the "anticucho," which were essentially kabobs as they were chunks of beef &/or chicken on skewers served over rice. I tried the beef, and it was so tender and had good flavor. The fries and yucca were spot on as they were crispy, fresh, and not soft at all. The table has 2 sauces, and we used the spicy one on almost everything, including to dip the fries and yucca to add a little heat. For dessert, I had flan, and they had tres leches. The flan was just normal flan... nothing special. The tres leches was where it went downhill. It was exactly what a tres leches should *not* be: hard. As I was eating my flan, I could only hear the clanking of their spoons against the plate as they were slicing their spoons through the cake. I tried a piece, and I liked the flavor, but the bread should be extremely moist and soft. I would definitely return, but I wouldn't order the empanadas, flan, nor the tres leches. The lomo saltado is supposed to be very good, so I'll be back. 4 starts since I now know where to get a good ropa vieja and wonderful service. read more

If I could give this sham of a place ZERO stars, i would. Whyyyy in the world do they call themselves a "peruvian" spot? no idea. cause there is NOTHING peruvian about this crappy place. I ordered a milanesa de pollo a while back, and all i got was chicken and rice... SERIOUSLY? When ive gone to legit peruvian spots, it ALWAYS comes with rice, fries, and a small salad. This place is a sham. Nothing about here is Peruvian. To top it all off, this so called dish was almost $15!! FIFTEEN FREAKING DOLLARS for a piece of chicken and some nasty sticky, old rice. Ive never set foot here since then, and never will. I dont understand how this place has so many good reviews. Its terrible! read more

Old go-to place in the area that I've frequented for many years only to get two thing: milanesas and tallarines con carne. Food: 4.5/5 Pretty great food and can't go wrong. Always a solid choice. Might actually have to go there for lunch tomorrow as I'm reminded about how great the food is. Highly recommend milanesa and tallarines con carne (obviously). Service: 4/5 Solid service but has its spotty days. Small family-owned restaurant so I'm sure they have good and bad days, but always friendly nonetheless. Atmosphere: 3/5 It's a really small, quaint place. You can tell the years have taken its toll but the food is really solid. I could care less what this place looks like, I usually get takeout anyways. read more

Pretty good peruvian food, prices are so so for the portions. I got the lomo saltado which comes with fries and rice. The meat was a little dry but it tasted ok. The green and yellow sauce are both very good and I put it all over my food. I also tried the ropa viejo which was good but I thought they didn't give you enough meat for the price. Most of the dishes are $10-$15 which isn't bad and the service was good. read more

The waitress was nice. Aesthetic is OK. Waited 30 min for a platter of a traditional Latino breakfast, but everything comes cold but the eggs. The mashed beans, and rice were ice cold.
