Came by for lunch today. They have salads, bowls and wraps on the menu. There are a large number of ingredients available for design-your-own (priced by what base you choose and what type and number of ingredients/proteins you want - the design-your-own comes with choice of up to 4 ingredients, which doesn't seem like enough with all the options there), and the menu includes a number of suggested combinations. There are also 2 soups and a variety of dressings. We ordered the Shrimp Spring Roll Salad and added tomatoes, and Sweet Apple Orchard Salad (minus the goat cheese) with chicken added. I got my dressing (balsamic vinaigrette) on the side. The salads are chopped for you and fill a large container. It's a big salad. The shrimp were plump and delicious and the chicken was also very good. I liked the dressing quite a bit - I don't always use a lot of dressing, but this one is a vinaigrette with honey- yum. The service was quick and efficient. There are some beverages available, but we each got ice water, which is readily available and refillable. The inside is comfortable, with some covered seating outside. We sat outside and it's very pleasant. read more

This is update to my last review. Full disclosure ... after my last review Chopt leadership provided me with a way to give them another chance, which I took advantage of. I came back to the same (Rockville) location a few weeks ago and it was like night and day. Staff was knowledgeable, the manager was super nice and the salad was tasty and prepared as ordered. Imagine that you are about to go on your lunch break, and you order two items to go at 11:40 AM through their app. Even though you are prompted that the food will be ready by 11:50 AM, you arrive at the store at 12:30PM. When you arrive, only half the order is done. You then spend the next 10 minutes of your lunch break waiting for the rest of the order that never gets finished, only to finally ask for a partial refund so you can leave and get back to work. You then wait another 5 minutes only for the manager to tell you that they will refund you after their lunch crowd dies down. You then grab the 1/2 of the order they completed and leave angry and in a rush, only to find out that they messed up that order too... Sound like fun? I recently placed an order in the Chopt App for pickup to have lunch with two other people. When I got to Chopt, the order was ready, but when I checked my order after driving to meet up with the other people I noticed that I was missing part of my order and had the wrong order. No one ate the food and I submitted a message to support and called the restaurant to ask for a refund. When someone from the restaurant finally answered, they asked if they could call me back and we could resolve this when they weren't as busy. I said yes, but no one took my name or number... I ended up driving back to the rockville location and asked for a refund, but overall the bad customer service will prevent me from coming back to this location. read more

I have been craving for a chopped salad so finally stopped in the place. They were pretty busy with on-line orders and walk-ins. There were so many choices including build your own. I decided on the kebab cobb salad- Feta, pickled red onions, Mama Lil's spicy peppers, pita chips, romaine with Greek Yogurt Tzatziki. This definitely is a light salad. Sure enough, the dressing for my salad. The employees barely interact with the customers and mumble. They have no idea what is in the salads and constantly ask each other how to make the salads and bowls. Corporate no longer responds to my messages. This place needs to close. Sweetgreen blows them out of the water. We ordered two delicious bowls. The seasonal bowl, Moroccan Market Bowl has sweet carrots and apricots, yet the seasonings are savory. The Chicken Tinga with added cranberries was fantastic and refreshing. Some low reviews focus on service. I found the staff serious and focused, not rude. We were helped by Minuel and initially seemed a little tired. I can only imagine the amount of endurance need to serve food with limitless combinations. Chopt is so great in concept - but WOW, what a disappointment in reality! Ordered a summer salad, even though I had all the ingredients at home except peaches. Can't eat chicken so I ordered avocado instead. For $15 - yes FIFTEEN DOLLARS - I got a giant bowl of lettuce. They forgot to put the "included" dressing on. There was ZERO avocado - so no protein for me at all. Having just eaten, I am already starving. And the peaches? The reason I ordered the salad? I counted five chunks of peach. FIVE. "Roasted almonds" were just dry and stale, not roasted at all. There were a couple of tiny bits of blue cheese, which I'd hoped would provide the protein I was lacking by having no chicken - and apparently no avocado either. So basically a dry bowl of lettuce, for which I used my own dressing. What an incredible waste of my money. And time! Someone picked this up for me and brought it home - so I waited an hour for this bowl of $15 lettuce. For what it's worth: this was ordered online, so all done IN WRITING. I love Chopt and have been such a happy customer at all the locations I've frequented throughout the DMV. Unfortunately, there isn't a location near my new place, so today's visit was a bit of an out-of-the-way treat. I'm, what you might call, an OG customer. I remember the good ol' days where actual chopping was done and bits of every topping was mixed into your greens. Long gone are those days. I definitely understood why they changed their operations when they did: just too much demand for it to be done. Imagine a mid-day DC lunch rush. However, now it just seems like "mixing" of the ingredients is done in a large bowl, then packaged up for you. I actually had an almost full size avocado half in my bowl today, with the first half of the bowl super bland and the second half too soaked in dressing. I know it varies each bowl and each visit, and trying hard to be gracious, but it just wasn't worth the $14. Better luck next time maybe? read more

Not the most amazing salads you have ever had, but with the larger interior and various seats outdoors for the weather, this makes this place a decent location to have a lunch. It is in the corner of a shopping center with a grocery store and a Matchbox way out there, but it has a bookstore for a brisk walk and a Starbucks right across from it, that this is a location you can't really fault it for it. I do like some of their options. The flavoring is a bit dim so that's why I say its not super amazing. It just fulfills that need if you want a salad and there are not that many places around that focuses on salad. Really, not that much. The only one that comes to mind is in Pike and Rose and I am not a fan of going there because of the parking situation. Here, though, tons of parking spaces and even if you are here on a busy Saturday, just walk a bit farther, but you got a spot. read more

I used to frequent the Downtown Crown location, but as that has closed and the new Gaithersburg one isn't open yet I figured I could go out of my way to specifically fill my Chopt craving trying the Rockville location today. It served it's purpose, but I wouldn't say it was pleasant/the experience I was used to. I ordered two custom salads online for curbside pick-up. The website is easy enough, if perhaps a little too busy, got a confirmation email and text almost immediately and the estimate was only 15 minutes, not bad. I received a text that my order was ready right on the dot! I hit some traffic so I arrived a little after, but I wasn't worried, it's a salad and could sit a few minutes without getting too wilted. The issue was it wasn't just a few minutes. Congressional Plaza was strangely busy for a Wednesday at 2:30pm. Lots of people out and no masks either. They weren't even eating, just sitting and talking, and the tables in this shopping center are not spaced out. That being said, I was lucky to not have to look for parking as they have added signs for curbside pickup lining the exterior lane around the center. I was able to get a spot right in front of the store and called to let them know I was here. No matter what number you call, Chopt has a central answering service that will direct you to either an ordering line or after a few menu options, the store that you actually dialed. After a couple minutes I made it through and told them my name, car, and general location, and was told they would be out in a few minutes. That's fine, I could not speak to how busy they were or were not inside. The problem is 10 minutes went by and no one was coming in or out of the restaurant. I had plain view of the door and now was beginning to wonder if I was supposed to be in the back parking lot and didn't know if they had another door? And I didn't want to leave my car in case I missed someone walking out to it at that point in some sort of bad comedy routine of missing my order coming and going. I called for a second time, went thru the menus, waited to be connected, and they actually answered faster this time (same person). I said I was here for a curbside order and made sure parking out front was fine. No recognition they had spoken to me or heard my name minutes earlier and said they would be out soon. I'm not trying to be hard on this person, I'm not sure if they are the only staff in today, etc. But they totally forgot about me and I could have been sitting out there who knows how long if I didn't call back again? Just seems like the location shouldn't offer curbside if they can't provide enough staff to manage it. The salads were made to order, but there was some very fine hair-like fiber strands in my salad, which kind of ruins it for me. Hair/hair like stuff in food just locks my stomach up and I can't push past it. My sister's salad was fine according to her. read more

This is in a strip mall in Rockville, but don't write it off. Unlike some of the other Chop't locations in DC, which all meet your standard fast food salad expectations, this one is one step above. Why? It seems and looks and feels so shiny and well, clean! I'm not sure if it's just the lighting or the paint color on the walls, but it makes Chop't even more appealing to me than just the salad itself. The only gripe I have with this Chop't is that it's only open until 9pm. Other than that, the staff is nice, the veggies are fresh, the food is Chop't designed and the portions are filling (as far as salad can be). It can be exciting if you like salad or grain bowls, you'll love this place. It's so fast and convenient! I also appreciate that the food is marked for what is vegan/dairy/egg free. Makes dining a little more convenient. The menu changes for seasonal produce, so apples in the fall and peaches in the summer make sense! Lots of standards are always there, like avocado! Came here with a friend for lunch while I'm Rockville. She comes here pretty much weekly so she ordered a Santa Fe salad and I went with the Asian crunch salad. Both were good and mine came with chicken. They're the same size as sweetgreen and I finished my pretty easily. My only complaint was that when she asked if we wanted bread, I said yes and she didn't give it to us. Overall, pretty on par with the other high end Salad spots in the area. Parking was fairly crowded but doable. Would recommend this location if you're in the mood for a salad. read more

Love chopts salads. I been a fan since back when they would cut the stuff in front of you. Now they've gotten lazy and no longer wanna do it. " to save time " they say - that isn't to this specific location that's to all. I've been to a few locations in DC lately more so to this one. Anywho... I normally make my own salad. Rarely I'll do a burrito. The tortilla they put with the salad I don't like.. their oatmeal cookies are so delicious ! I always get 3 or more lol. That's how good they are ! Yes! The prices are ridiculous! $20 for a salad so it's isn't something I do all the time but delicious. At this location I've had one bad experience with an employee being rude -_- . Other than that location always seems clean. Clean bathroom. Go inside and order. Ordering through website doesn't work. Staff for the most part friendly and polite. There were only a few ingredients in the salad in total so it wasn't very complicated. I wasn't offered bread, which is good for my health, but I wanted the bread for my kids. Bespoke salads for awesome people! I really like Chop't and the way you can make your own salad, or have something pre-made/set ingredients. Either way, everything is made fresh the way you like it, if not they will make sure it is made fresh. I also did not know about this location here in Rockville. It's pretty large and clean compared to the others I've been do. Staff is nice, as always, so that's why I keep coming back. A friend regularly has business in Rockville. She's a fan of inexpensive but healthy food and suggested we meet at Chopt. I have lost a lot of weight in the last few years and have eaten more salads than I care to count. Some I've actually looked forward to having again and others were forgettable. I would say Chopt is more of 2-1/2 stars, but there were some pluses and if I go back I'd do things differently. We got to Chopt early so there was no line. I knew what to expect but one of the others in our party had no idea. I told her to think Subway without the roll. I ordered the Palm Beach because it contained ingredients I like and is lo-cal. I wanted the sirachi dressing but was told it was "really spicy". I was offered a taste but decided to just use the dressing packet that I had in my purse. I was offered a roll at checkout with I declined. Not sure if that's part of the meal or an add on. My main problem with my salad was one another reviewer mentioned, by the time it was chopped everything just blended into a rather soggy nondescript bowl. The salad was big. One of those where you eat and eat and then realize you've barely made a dent in your bowl. The restaurant was clean and we were so early we were able to linger for a while before a line started to form and we felt we should free up our table. If I do go back, since it is better than most fast food, I would ask them to not chop my salad. It might have been pretty good if I could have tasted the individual ingredients. read more
