On top of that, the customer service was outstanding and the place is clean! The staff is very friendly, fast, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Between the addictive pickle sandwich and the top-tier customer service, I'm already planning my next visit. Highly recommend!

I've been to this location three times. Each time, I've interacted with different team members. The personalities and friendliness of the team there is top notch. I've had some good laughs and conversations with them. The location is always clean, the service is fast, and the sandwiches are tasty! My go to, you ask!??.... "The Wreck!" Make no mistake about it. Thank me later! The sandwich is beastly good!! Loaded with just about every meat and topping, they have to offer. You can go full Monty or scale it down to your liking, but either way it is mad delicious and you can't go wrong with this sandwich. You can't go wrong with this sandwich shop and I recommend!

I've been coming here for years, and it's always a dependable, tasty stop when the hunger pangs strike. My go-to is The Wreck -- loaded up and, of course, with extra hot peppers. It's not just a sandwich; it's a life experience. Every bite feels like it's giving my taste buds a standing ovation... and my sinuses a pep talk. I also love their chili -- hearty, comforting, and exactly what you want on a chilly day (pun absolutely intended). One of my favorite things is the mix-and-match approach here. Half a sandwich, half a salad, whatever combination makes your stomach sing -- they make it happen. I'm partial to a sandwich-and-soup or sandwich-and-chili combo, but honestly, they could hand me a sandwich and a pickle and I'd still be grinning. The Pick-Your-Pair deal is my secret weapon for avoiding food FOMO. I get a little bit of everything without having to choose -- because why should lunch be a time for difficult decisions? I will say, I do miss the days when the rewards program felt, well, more rewarding. You know, something that made loyal customers feel like VIPs instead of "Very Intermittently Pleased." But that's a small gripe compared to all the deliciousness they serve up. A few Potbelly-themed jokes for flavor: Why did The Wreck go to therapy? It had too many layers of emotion. What's Potbelly's favorite band? Bread Zeppelin. My doctor told me to eat more greens... so now I get extra lettuce on my Wreck. Problem solved. Whether I'm craving a sandwich that could make a grown man weep, a bowl of chili that hugs your soul, or a meal combo that lets me have my lunch and eat it too -- this place delivers every time. Highly recommend!

There exists a certain breed of establishment whose appeal is not derived from culinary bravado or…read moreaesthetic triumph but rather from a quiet constancy, a kind of ambient predictability that soothes the midday appetite and the overstimulated soul alike. The Layhill Shopping Center Subway was such a place. One did not go there to be dazzled. One went to be gently affirmed. The bread was warm, the lettuce was crisp, the tomatoes were slightly damp, and the effect was (if not transcendent) at least reliable. But something has changed. It is not, strictly speaking, the food. The sandwiches continue to materialize with clinical adequacy. The meatball sub retains its engineered gravity, the turkey its industrial virtue. The bread still bears those telltale baking lines from a process unseen and better left unimagined. No, the tectonic shift has occurred elsewhere: in management, yes, but more precisely in atmosphere, which is to say in spirit. One used to enter and be greeted not only by the staff but by the soft, almost imperceptible strains of instrumental Christian music. It did not evangelize. It did not intrude. It merely hovered... a gentle presence, like sunlight through frosted glass. There was a sense of peace to it, a kind of ambient benevolence that seemed to infuse not just the air but the employees themselves. The customers, too, responded. One could not fail to notice it. There were smiles. There was lightness. People chatted in line. They held the door for one another. I do not suggest that the music converted them, but it did seem to bathe the room in a warmth that exceeded the wattage of the fixtures. Now it is gone. The music, that is. Replaced by some uninspired autotuned din that neither offends nor uplifts. And with it, something else has departed. The staff, once marked by a quiet cheerfulness, now operate with a muted apathy. There are fewer smiles. The art of sandwich assembly, once performed with a kind of modest pride, now feels perfunctory. The toppings are dispensed with the hesitance of rationed goods. The avocado no longer flows freely. One is tempted to ask whether the two phenomena, the music and the mood, are unrelated. But in this particular setting, in this small corner of spiritual commerce, I am not so sure. The soul of a place is a delicate thing. Change the tone, and the substance often follows. It is, as I say, unfortunate. One can still get a sandwich. But one no longer leaves with quite the same sense of uplift. A measure of grace has been lost. And though one cannot quantify it with calories or coupons, its absence is keenly felt.
