They have fresh local ingredients and awesome combinations in the salads. I purchased the Buffalo Chicken Salad. It was a kale caesar with grilled chix, blue cheese crumbles, croutons, carrots, and buffalo sauce. The associate tossed everything for me. I ate it in the establishment. It was nice and clean. Every bite I could taste all the ingredients. It was a nice healthy option, not too heavy and only 436 cal. The price was reasonable $13. I won't lie the salads can be pretty expensive but is so worth it. More importantly its a healthier choice than many of thr fast casual options out there. I love many of the seasonal salads. I'm not keen on eating my fruits and vegetables, but Sweetgreen makes it easy. Their salads are delicious, always fresh, and locally-sourced. My favorite is the warm harvest bowl which comes with tasty organic wild rice, shredded kale, apples, sweet potatoes, roasted chicken, and goat cheese, but the herb falafel in the hummus tahina bowl really impressed me! They mix the falafel right into the salad - dressing and all - and I thought the falafel would get soggy quickly, but it still had a good crunchy texture and was packed with flavor. I'll definitely get their falafel again. They have build your own options and I can't get enough of their Parmesan crisps (made in-house). I'm also a fan of their lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette. Regardless of which salad I order, I like how they ask how much dressing you want. I tend to ask for dressing on the side because I hate overdressed salads, but Sweetgreen gets it right. All of the employees that have made my salads do so expertly - they know which ingredients go in each signature bowl and make the salads with ease. Maybe they have a cheat sheet behind the counter - who knows - but it doesn't show. The salads average between $11-$13, but you're paying for quality. If you download and pay with the app, you can rack up points and earn rewards. This place is cashless, as is the Sweetgreen way, which is fine with me because who carries cash anyways? The only reason they get four stars instead of five is because they're almost always out of bread when I come here for dinner (and it's not like it's right before closing time). I've been looking forward to having Sweetgreen for a couple of months and finally had it tonight, but it wasn't a great experience. I will preface this by saying I ordered off Uber Eats, but my issues were not their fault. From ordering to the food at our door, it was only about 20 minutes. I ordered the chimichurri chicken, which comes with black beans, pickled carrots, cauliflower rice, roasted sweet potatoes and some toppings. A great deal for only around $12...except they forgot the chicken! I noticed immediately, but by the time I had it in front of me it was too late to do much about it (they are giving us a $10 voucher). The sides were fine, nothing special. I mistakenly thought all of the food would be warm, but that was not the case. Cold black beans with lukewarm sweet potatoes. Perhaps that was by design, but it was not what I was expecting. My wife ordered the harvest bowl, dubbed a warm bowl. She said the only thing warm was the rice -- not even the chicken, and again the sweet potatoes. Not much positive to say unfortunately. It's been a while since I was last here and I have noticed some improvements. They offer a sustainable salad from David Chang which is cool. They improved the flavor of their blackened chicken and the pesto dressing. The pickled carrots are quite good as well. They back tracked off the "cashless" model which is a shame, but we aren't ready for that in America yet. The canned drinks aren't great but they are probably vegan so people will think they like them. read more

After seeing the overpriced, incredibly skimpy salad that I just picked up tonight -- I can safely say that I won't be back. Portion sizes are extreeeeeeeemely small now. Food quality has also gone down. Prices have gone up. Now this place is just not worth the money, as it no longer fits its value proposition of healthy for a reasonable price. I would have preferred they transparently raised the price of my salad while maintaining or even improving on the traditional portion sizes and freshness I'd come to associate with this chain. But what they have done instead is "no bueno." After tonight's terrible salad, I'm annoyed enough to delete the SG app (which has been horribly re-designed, btw) from my phone altogether. Came during a Sunday afternoon, place was very clean and empty. Not sure if this is for all Sweetgreens or just this location but I was a little disappointed by the portion size of the steelhead fish (which is what I ordered). I ordered from the Sweetgreen site and from the picture it looked like we would receive a big portion (about half a fillet) of the fish, but when I see my order it looks like a small strip of steelhead (picture attached). I've read reviews about this chain where people complained that it's so expensive. I don't think so. I mean, it's not like ordering from the dollar menu at McDonalds. It's priced right for what you get: A fresh and healthy meal. Today was the grand opening in Downtown Silver Spring. They offered their entire menu for a "Pay What You Can" price with proceeds going to charity. I've only ever had their soup, so I had to quickly peruse their menu, as the line was started to build behind me. I went around 1:30; in between lunch hour rushes from Discovery HQ. I opted for their summer special salad, which I believe is named 'July Salad'. It's an organic mesclun and baby spinach salad with fresh, local goat cheese, peaches, basil, almond slivers, and topped with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I opted for an additional topping of falafel (four ping ping ball sized). I loved that they make each salad to order, and fast! It was delicious! The best salad I think that I have ever had! I am spoiled for all other salads now. I know I will be a regular here. My salad was posted as being about $7.50 (plus I am sure a bit higher with the additional topping). However, their signature salads range from $7.85 - $11.50. You can design your own creation for just $6.50, whereas you choose the base, and pick up to four toppings. The employees were cheerful and helpful, and I was more than happy to make a donation to their charity choice. read more

To be honest, though, as a person who makes food for only one person, I will never end up buying all the ingredients that goes into a salad like the ones found in Sweetgreen, or if I do, the ingredients will go bad before I can finish them. To me, salads found at Sweetgreen's or other similar salad places are totally worth it. Fresh, healthy ingredients! Now onto the salads- I've actually only tried two of the menu: misoba and guacamole greens. I liked the misoba- although I thought that the soba noodles would have been thicker and more prevalent, I enjoyed the overall salad. The guacamole greens is hand's down my favorite- I think I've ordered it twice in my last 3 visits. "Guacamole" is a bit of a misnomer though, imo, since I don't feel like the avocado is necessarily transformed into what is traditionally guacamole. If we thinking of a spinoff of guacamole using the fresh ingredients of the salad and the dressing as a flavoring agent, I... guess that could work? In any case, I don't mind. I love avocado, and I just really enjoy eating this salad. Prefer the guacamole greens with the shrimp, although the chicken does work. Finally, I was able to try one of their juices. I'm not sure if it's a special but I got a free juice the last time I stopped by (not sure if it was offered complimentary to my meal or to the guacamole greens that I ordered). But $7 whoaaaa. Now that's a pricey juice. I got the energize- not sure if I was energized by it but it was definitely an interesting taste. It was a little bit too gingery and also a bit too much at once for me, but that may be because I don't normally try juices made with a variety of ingredients. There were also other ingredients missing as well such as the pine nuts. When I ordered this salad before it came with avocado and a delicious green dressing. The ingredients definitely changed and I did not enjoy my salad at all. I am giving the location 3 stars because of the location and I would recommend this place to anyone. Food Deets: I have now had both the AvoCOBBo and Wild Child Salads and the combinations are robust and flavorful. In the Avocabbo, the kale, romaine lettuce, roasted chicken, avocado, egg, cherry tomatoes, raw corn, make for the perfect cobb salad with a tasty crunch from the abundant bacon sprinkled on top. I will admit, I prefer the pesto vinaigrette over the blue cheese dressing. Just ask to switch if desired. Now the Wild Child Salad tasted even healthier with organic wild rice, spinach, avocado, cilantro, beets, shredded cabbage, carrots, seeds, and miso sesame ginger dressing. Because it had wild rice, this salad was extremely filling and if you feel like having something Asian and healthy, this salad is the perfect fusion. Make sure to really toss the salad beforehand so that the dressing covers the lettuce evenly. These salads paired with their hibiscus lime iced tea makes for a match made in heaven. As you smart yelpers can guess, the July is their seasonal salad, which is mesclun and baby spinach, peaches, goat cheese, and toasted almonds, with balsamic vinaigrette. While all the organic ingredients are fresh, I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping for plenty of peaches and only got a few lonely dices. I doubt I'd order it again for $8. The Kale Caesar, which is kale and chopped romaine, roasted chicken, parmesan cheese and parmesan crisps, with Caesar dressing, was really good! Kale is all the rage right now and I can see why because it was a nutritious but tasty way to spice up a Caesar salad. The staff asks if you'd like light, medium, or heavy dressing, and with a light squeeze for me it was delicious! That's something I'd definitely order again soon! The lemonade is great too, not too tart but not too sweet. Sweetgreen isn't really a cheap lunch place but you get what you pay for.
