    Blackened Grouper
    Mark M.

I would prefer to give this place a 3.5. I am rating a 4 because this may just be my personal taste here. Although we have lived in the area for a few years now, this was our first time trying. The service was friendly and very good. The outdoor seating option is nice on the sidewalk, but we dined inside. The inside is designed as a single dining room with the bar running the length of the space. There were some TVs with sports airing behind the bar. The prices were very reasonable. The food was good. The portions were large and the prices were good. I felt like the flavor was missing something with the fish and chips and the same with the zucchini side. The grouper was pretty good. The mashed potatoes were very good. Overall, it was a decent meal and maybe another visit trying different food will change my opinion for the better.

    Grapefruit Crush - November 2024

We were looking for a place to eat nearby and came across this spot - we liked that they had great ratings on both Google and Yelp. Parking was on the side and in the back. As we entered, I noticed a "2024 Best of Bethesda (Magazine) Winner" sticker at the front door - even better. I looked it up later and saw it was for Reader's Pick for Best Restaurant in Clarksburg/Damascus - good to know. As we sat, I looked around and noticed that everywhere within the restaurant was all things Hornet's - I guess it is a community thing or maybe it is a school nearby (not sure). We got their menu and I decided to try one of their crushes. They had several flavors, and I decided on the Grapefruit Crush. It was tasty even with lots of ice which never watered down my drink - I will have that again. For food, I had the Build-A-Burger, cooked how I wanted, with provolone cheese, tomato, lettuce, and ketchup (which was on the side). The burger came with fries, which I didn't fancy too much even though I ate it. Note that the lettuce and tomato are upon request (per the menu). Our food specialist was Fiona who provided excellent service. If I am in the area again, I would stop by. Visited November 2024

Staff simply the best and everything on the menu is fresh, tasty and presented well! Friendly and casual, locals are nice too.

    Cheese twigs with raspberry sauce

I really enjoyed the interior of the grille. It was full of Damascus jersey giving the whole restaurant a very homey and town centric feel. The menu looked interesting and I'd be willing to come back to try more. What we got: Cheese Twigs with raspberry sauce - 4* the cheese was incredibly cheesey and we loved the pairing of the raspberry sauce. I wanted to take home a jar of the stuff and eat it with waffles. Fried chicken sandwich - 3.5* pretty good but I've had better. The dipping sauce saved the meal and made it exciting to eat, flavourwise. I liked how you could swap out fries for a cup of soup. Cream of crab cup - 2* I did not like it. There was something about the taste, I believe it was the soup base, that I really didn't jive with. I wish I could pinpoint what it was. Blackened Chicken Alfredo - 4* good flavor. The chicken was a bit dry but not chewy. Would recommend.

Came back with family and they all enjoyed their food. Not fans of the coleslaw but everything else hit the spot. We also had wings as starter and blue cheese sauce has blue cheese chunks in it which is great and adds to the flavor. Relaxed atmosphere and staff were attentive and friendly.

You'll definitely get a feel for the Damascus vibes here with sports jerseys on the wall and lots of hometown pride. The servers here are also super amazing! Very attentive and friendly. Food variety is quite plentiful, ranging from sashimi tacos, French dip, burgers and salads. Price point is also very affordable especially for the DMV area. Stop by if you're in town!

Always a good quality meal. Clean environment, friendly. But the real secret is the Orange Chicken! Amazing! Sometimes things happen and orders are messed up or "FORGOTTEN" but at The Grill, they make it right! On our carry out order the Orange chicken was not bagged up . Sadly we didn't realize until we got home,.... Called the restaurant,,... they checked the order and made it right. Went back and got it... and got a bonus discount from Molly for our next visit! Best Customer service ever. Thanks Hornets Nest crew! We appreciate you.

I've visited this restaurant several times. Always busy and always good service and food. First time I've sat at the bar. I had a beer, she had the Mermaid Water and we shared the fried pickle appetizer. I had one of the specials which was the cheeseburger egg rolls. The pickles were flavorful and crispy. I wasn't expecting much from the cheeseburger egg rolls but I wanted to try them anyway. I was pleasantly surprised. They were quite delicious. The restaurant was clean. Love that the restaurant is themed around the local high school. The Hornets. The decor is on par!

This was our first time here, as on prior occasions we found the line too daunting. We were surprised when another 4:15pm patron was led to their reserved table, but we learned that their planning and caution was well-founded. We discovered the popularity of Bolder to be well-deserved. Seeking lite fare for an early dinner, calorie conscious, we both navigated the tempation-filled menu with success. We thoroughly enjoyed the bison burger and turkey club, the latter being sufficiently sample for a split lunch the next day too. Service was rock-solid and very efficient. We definitely hope to be back soon. And we will make a reservation. Dress code is casual.

It's a little bit off 70, but not bad. First off, this restaurant has an incredibly oversized parking lot. Maybe the restaurant has areas I didn't see, but I was a little bemused. Inside, it's decorated a bit like an old lady house with country accents. It's welcoming and nice, if a little old. I was seated and served quickly. My waitress was great. I ordered French onion soup and a bison burger with sweet potato fries. The French onion soup came out first. It had a huge layer of cheese on top, but it tasted like white cheddar. The soup itself was good at first but started getting bitter. I discovered a huge bay leaf in it. That explains that. Guys, leaving a bay leaf hidden in French onion soup is a violation of Article 35(2) of the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions. My sweet potato fries were seasoned with a chipotle cinnamon blend. It was weirdly sweet and clashed with the burger. I didn't care for it and honestly feel like if you're going to season with something weird, you should be abundantly clear. The burger was a disappointment. It was fairly basic. It was cooked right, but every so often I would get a burst of salt. I suspect the meat was salted and not well mixed. My burger, fries, and side of soup came to over $40. I am honestly being more critical of them because of that. At that price point, I expect REALLY good, not salt pockets, a left-in bay leaf, and weird seasonings.

A juicy burger to be exact! We walked in around 745. It was kinda empty, but i was pretty impressed with how spacious it was. The bar was pretty big and the restaurant itself appeared really clean. We sat down and were greeted by Grace, who was super awesome and provided amazing service. I told her exactly what I wanted without even looking at the menu and boy did she deliver. I wanted a BBQ bacon cheeseburger, which was the perfect ending to my night. My husband and cousin also got a burger and enjoyed them as well. Her husband got a Nashville chicken sandwich and he said it was pretty good. I also got tater toys, which were perfectly crip. The only drawback was I had ordered a margarita and asked for it to be topped with grand marnier. They charge a whole extra $12 for it. Not Grace's fault, but it was definitely surprising.
