Tried this spot inside a local gas station in Damascus. They had a ton of options and the food smelled amazing. They offer plenty of platters, appetizers, burritos, tortas, and desserts, as well as boxes for groups! We ordered some empanadas and pupusas and were pretty pleased. The pupusas were not the best I've had, but they were good and had flavor. They do have some limited seating inside if you want to eat there as well, but we mainly do take out. They offer specials on their social media pages as well. Damascus is pretty limited with options, so its good to have small local spots like Ricoton to offer the food options that they do. read more

Overall 3.5* I think there is potential here. Aqq After reading some reviews I was looking forward to trying the empanadas. Unfortunately, it sounds like they had recently moved and the machine used for empanadas wasn't going to arrive for a couple more weeks. I guess we'll just have to come back! Sharing space at the convenience store attached to a gas station, Ricoton looks very unassuming. But their food is decent and that's what's important. What we got: Pupusa (beans) - 3* average, nothing special Al Pastor Quesadilla - ?? I don't know!! We took our food and left to eat at home so I didn't realize until later that they got my order wrong. I believe it was still Al Pastor meat but it was served with onion, tomatoes, and fries. Also had a side of green salad and beans. I was a bit bummed I didn't get my quesadilla (with its side of chips and salsa) but the food was still good. Like four stars good. My husband and I came here for a quick lunch and I'm glad we stopped by. Ricoton is located inside a gas station but the food is delicious. I ordered the Milanesa torta and my husband ordered the carne asada torta. We both were highly satisfied with what we ordered. The bread was toasted the perfection, the meat was plenty and flavorful, and it was very filling but satisfying. If you're ever in the local Damascus area and want to grab a quick bite, Ricoton is definitely a good place to visit. There is hardly any indoor seating so be prepared to take your food to go for carry out. And it's decently priced and relatively inexpensive. Lots of people rave about this local joint as some of the best and fresh food in town. Their menu is quite extensive but you're sure to find something that you'd like. I tried a chicken empanada and a carne asada burrito for dinner on a week night. The empanada was delicious! I thought the filling would just be chicken but there was also a half of an egg in the filling which at first I wasnt a big fan of but it actually complimented the chicken very well. The steak burrito was just alright. I dont know whether it was the salsa or the marinade on the steak that was almost too sour and too wet for the burrito so not only did it not taste the best but it made my burrito too soggy. I would go back for the empanadas and still want to try their taquitos but I'd probably skip over the entrées. read more

I love the food and the service. My only complaint is the gas station convenience store looks so dismal.

Stopped in to get gas and being hungry, we went inside the gas station and discovered yummy Mexican food. We ordered, to go, the tosado subs, one chorizo, and one carnito. Delicious and filled with fresh ingredients. Plenty for 2 meals. read more

The owner is from Paraguay (the gentlemen from the picture are his father and grandfather), the restaurant is a continuation of their family business there. He and his son are cooking everything there, pretty cool to have four generations serving you up. I won't review any of the food just yet but the chimichurri sauce is darn good. Ordered the chicken milanesa sub and a few of the empanadas. Empanadas were amazing and bigger than expected. The chicken milanesa sub came in a pizza box which was strange at first but made sense in the end. Take a look at the photos. Personally never had or even seen a sub like this. Best Mexican food in Damascus and it's not even close. The service is friendly and the food is great. Sometimes it's challenging to order if you don't speak Spanish, but the person who takes the orders usually speaks enough to understand. My hubs went here unknowingly minutes before close, but the lady was very happy to feed us, as he told me. The food tasted like my Mexican best friends mom's cooking...it seriously brought a tear to my eye. I could feel the love that went into it. The taquitos were *real* taquitos, unlike anything you'll get within 20 miles of here. He said she made them from scratch while he waited, which very few restaurants would do after closing. The pupusas were perfectly crispy yet soft, and the Mexican torta was meaty and delicious. Then there's the empanadas...again made with generations of love in each little packet. The chimichurri that went with it was the best I've ever had or made. Do yourself a favor and check out this little Paraguayan joint on the side of a gas station. I grew up right outside of Damascus, but I never stopped by this gasoline station because I mostly drive through 108 and not 27. I am so so glad that I walked in and tried this spot out. THE VARIETY THAT THEY HAVE IN THEIR MENU! It is amazing I went with my friend. He had the steak tacos, I had the steak and cheese, and la cubana empanada. DELICIOUS. And tried I also tried the pupusa with cheese and chorizo. I AM SHOOK TO THE CORE. The CRISPINES OF THE PUPUSA is what I've been looking for. Please try this place. I am sorry that I've never noticed this establishment. There have been a number of 'to go' establishments within this gas station over the years. The last one had closed. But Ricoton has apparently been here for a year. I was parked across the street, and noticed the LED 'open' sign, so I walked over. I ordered the best burrito (chorizo) that I've had in a long-time. I also took a flan. Everything is freshly made, including the bread for the sandwiches and subs. And if you like spicy, be sure you ask for the spicy salsa. It is kept in the back. Your nose will burn if you sniff it too closely! I'll be trying the tacos next week! read more

Sadly, not impressed! After seeing posts on Facebook saying how wonderful this place was I finally gave in and gave this place a try, even though it is located in a gas station which is usually an immediate turn off. I ordered tacos and pupusas figuring you really cannot go wrong with these items. Boy, was I ever wrong! Whereas the beef in the tacos was tender the meat was more or less the only thing in the taco which was made with soft tortillas. Yes, there were other ingredients...a slice of radish and a slice of lime. Very odd! The pupusas were only okay at best, slightly too burned and had little flavor. They did come with the shredded cabbage and sauce but, there was little shredded cabbage and little sauce and neither had much flavor. I'd like to say it was just the food that was problematic but trying to order it over the phone proved to be quite problematic as whereas English was spoken it was very obvious that English was a second language making understanding what was being said near to impossible. In fact, I've never had such a hard time placing a phone order anywhere. For what I got I paid nearly $40.00! What I received was not worth the cost. Items were extremely expensive when compared to other local sit down restaurants that offer the same foods. Will I be trying them again... doubtful. read more

Ricoton is the Latin food gem of Damascus. Their menu has a lot to offer and it's all great! I recently got the empanadas, tacos, quesadillas and taquitos - all fantastic. They had my order ready to go for takeout in just 20 minutes. My only comment would be that their location is tucked away and easy to overlook if you don't know they're there or unfamiliar with Damascus. But overall, I highly recommend. read more
