They have their top combos or you can build your own. They also have blue crab of course and make sure you place orders in advance as they sell out especially on holidays. There is nowhere to eat inside or sit so you can order to go prior or stop in and get yours to go as well. The staff is wonderful and it was nice to talk with the other customers as we waited for ours. It's not big inside just a couple counters with food options to choose from and you take with you to go. They have all the seasoning and sides for sale also, along with frozen items and even paper for your crabs if you need it.

Service was friendly and I always appreciate when given the option to order crabs over the phone versus in store only. Once home we immediately started our picking party and the crabs did not disappoint. The large crabs were deliciously sweet filled with lump meat and definitely the star of dinner. The mediums were good and priced nicely. The crawfish and shrimp were pre-steamed and packaged chilled. The crawfish was the meatiest crawfish I had in years. I can't wait to return!

Lu & Joe's Restaurant!!! It is my pleasure and my privilege to review this wonderful little…read morerestaurant. Lu & Joe's looks like it has been there forever! It is old, unique, not cookie-cutter and certainly not a hint of pretense anywhere around. Is it maybe run down a little, a bit old? Maybe but who cares? Lu & Joe's is one of the most charming roadside diners I have ever been to. This one building has a dining room on one side and a bar on the other. Above the door to the bar hangs a sign that reads "Please no profanity in the dining room. Thank you. Budweiser." LOLOLOL Lu & Joe know that their restaurant is a dive and they lean into it heavily. The naugahyde upholstery is clean, in good shape and colorful - but it's still naugahyde. The floor is probably asbestos tile squares from the 1950's (I say probably because I actually do NOT know if there is asbestos in the floor tile - but it sure looks like there should be). And you know what? That tile floor is spotless like the rest of the dining room. The menus do not have one drop of tomato sauce or grease or dirt on them. Someone clearly is taking great care of this restaurant. The menu is huge! So much to pick from. Oh, and did I mention that either Lu or Joe must be from Thailand???? One or both of them must be because the menu includes a full Thai menu, not one Thai dish, not only Larb Gai, not just Drunken Noodles - A FULL THAI MENU!!! And the dining room has genuine Thai decorations like a painting of a Thai palace with real flashing lights, Siamese touches like archways here and there, a memorial to some Buddhist god or goddess (at least I assume it's Buddhist) - and all of this thrown in with 1950's Americana. Lu & Joe's is truly a slice of the American Dream mixed in with an old roadside dive bar in Mt. Airy! Okay so now let's get to the food. I had tofu basil which was outstanding. The tofu was perfectly fried (not greasy) and there was LOTS of it. The veggies were crisp and fresh. There was a great amount of basil. And the sauce was excellent!!! Easily as good as - and mostly better than - the same dish I have had anywhere in downtown DC and at a fraction of the price!!! Bravo to Lu or Joe or both of them! My spouse had a bleu cheeseburger and it was a game changer. Easily a half pound of the juiciest ground beef I have ever seen! The plentiful bleu cheese and sauteed onions were a great addition. The fries were beautifully cooked as well! I do not have one bad thing to say about this place. We each ate every bite on our plates - huge helpings all around - and, all at once, we realized that we had found a real gem of a restaurant!!! Our server was likewise great. She was friendly and charming and easy to talk to! Not friendly as in "I better be nice to get a good tip" nice - but genuinely nice and friendly. She was fast, she paid the perfect amount of attention to us. I only wish I had gotten her name so I could sing her praises here. But - to Lu & Joe - we ate at your restaurant on Friday, April 10, around 3:30 pm. Whoever was serving then is a great addition to your wonderful restaurant. I certainly will eat at Lu & Joe's again. There is no pretense - only good food in impressive quantities and at great prices - in a clean casual/dive-y dining room where the server treats me well. Is there really anything else you need from a dining experience? I think not. I highly recommend Lu & Joe's to one and all!!!

We've always come here for the Thai food, but years ago--while dining with a large group--we ordered the onion rings and discovered how amazing they were. They seem to be the one thing that hasn't changed. The seafood dumplings are very different now--no longer like shumai--and are quite chewy, but still taste good. The OK... The drunken noodles with pork are also not what they used to be and are now just "OK." The noodles are unusually long and wide, making them difficult to eat, and we missed the sauce. The not good... The Tom Yum Goong with shrimp is much darker in color and has a strong lemongrass flavor, but it's far too salty. The green curry with chicken is also overly salty, and the chicken pieces are dark meat with gristle. When we ordered a Thai salad with chicken, the waiter said he had to check with the kitchen to see if it could be made because the kitchen staff are "new" (as of three months ago). Although he confirmed that order, the dish didn't arrive until after we had finished eating, so we sent it back. At one point, a cup of water spilled onto the bench seat. While the waiter wiped it up, he did not replace or refill the water. Overall, both the food and service are not what they used to be. We will not be returning.

On this visit, we both got selections like what we had around our early times of visiting this spot. I cannot remember what my friend got, but I ordered one of the "Feasty Specials" which had 1/2 Snow Crab Legs and 1/2 Headless Shrimp. It came with sausages (sliced in pieces), 1 Corn (about 1/4 size), 1 Egg, and 2 Potatoes (the skin easily comes off). You get to pick the seasoning and I had Old Bay. What is presented to you is a large clear bag, steamed up and tied, with seasonings and all mixed up. It is served on a metal tray, and they also place an empty bowl on your table for discarding things. Plastic bib was on, bag opened, and I was ready to dig in. The seasoning took me back to my second visit a few years ago. It was when I first tasted their Old Bay mix and became a fan of it. This Feasty Special was just enough and I was glad to switch things up for a change.

Overall, the food is good, and, in our opinion, you do get what you pay for. Keep in mind that they DO charge you if you have leftover food on your table when you are done. Be mindful of that and make sure to let them know as you are finishing up, and want more, to scale down your portion size. There is a 90-minute window to eat. The servers don't really go over the menu much, so if it is your first time for all you can eat, make sure to take notice that the crab legs do come with a few different flavor options. The bad - They started a new policy, which I understand, but do not like. If you want all you can eat, everyone who is at the table must all order it as well, or nobody can. I understand they are protecting their profits, but that has taken us away from this place on more than one occasion to eat elsewhere as some wanted it and another family members wanted to order off the main menu. Also, service can be extremely slow, and I am not sure if it is intentional or not, but we have complained more than once and made them extend our time. Last time we went, they set our first order of food down on the table and as we were eating, the waitress walked by no less then 5 times and didn't bother to ask if we wanted anything else. Then, magically, when our food was gone, we could not get anyone to come to the table for 15 minutes. Upon ordering our next round, it took another 20 more minutes for the food to arrive. They are sticklers about the 90-minute time frame, and we explained that twice this has happened and 60 minutes of our 90 minutes was wasted waiting on a server and then the food took forever. They allowed us one more round of food, which we appreciated and thought was fair. We start a stopwatch now and if we feel things are going slow, we address that with the server and sometimes put in a new order when the food is being dropped off. Overall, we are pleased to come here a few times a year. We only get all you can eat and usually are happy when we leave. The food is inconsistent as we do get the lobster tail with all you can eat, and it is usually overcooked and can chew like rubber, but still has good flavor. The crab legs sometimes come out waterlogged with salt, but most times piping hot. This is your typical "average" 3-star restaurant. If you are prepared to spend the money for all you can eat, you will leave satisfied and full, but never will you think "I wish I could come here every week". I have not ordered specific entrees off the regular menu so I cannot speak on portion size or quality of the food by ordering that way. Staff is always pleasant, but you do need to get on them if they are slacking.

But luckily for us, a tiny table fit only for two was available. It was all the way in the back! But that was totally fine. We liked our little corner. The place was definitely packed but our server never forgot about us. Back in our little corner were memorabilia from the local schools dating back to the 90's from what I can tell. It really had a nostalgic feel. To start we got the crabby rolls from the specials menu. It was more creamy than crabby. I tasted more of the cream cheese than any crab. For entrees we ordered the fish and chips and main street Madeira. The fish came in small filets that were the size of chicken tenders. Not a huge fan of the portion. The fries were soggy but glad that the coleslaw came in a lettuce pocket. At least that prevented the coleslaw liquid from seeping onto the fish and fries. The chicken madeira was fantastic. I almost never order chicken breasts fearing that it would be dry but this was not. The two breast meat was cooked in a madeira wine sauce topped with mushrooms and a mozzarella, fontina, and spinach cheese blend. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I can taste the lovely wine. Served along the dish was red mashed potatoes. I love red mashed potatoes because it has a bit of the skin. I liked this dish a lot! Service was attentive, friendly, and fast. This place is a neighborhood gem. Not sure about parking. There was some street parking and there may be a lot next to the restaurant but from the direction that we came, we ended up parking across the street. A tricky crossing because the crosswalk was up the block.

Yes, even without a town full of other sandwich shops to compare it to. I was craving a sub for no apparent reason while we were on a drive trying to get my crackhead toddler to sleep and ended up here. We parked in the parking lot and the signs told us back door only (that's what she said), so we went into this tiny store, located off a rural Road. The store is straight out of the 60s, sells mostly snacks, alcohol, and snack cakes, but does have a deli. They also have spiced shrimp fried chicken and breakfast. A super nice older lady is at the counter to take your order and we went with a turkey sub and some potato salad. She then shouts the order to what I'm assuming is her husband in the back. The order was prepared in no time flat. The sandwich was actually pretty good with the softest bread. I've had in a while and lots and lots of filling. I don't know how to describe it but honestly, it's like the best homemade sandwich ever. The potato salad was pretty unique and it came with celery, which is new for me. Nice and crunchy. Etchinson doesn't need any other delis, this one is definitely the best. Despite the retro vibes, we did ask if they took Apple Pay and the lady behind the counter responded with yeah baby. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you stop by especially since two chimneys cidery is right in the neighborhood across the street.
