Absolutely my new favorite take out local go to. We ordered take out from grub hub, and my husband went in and ended up with more items that weren't on the on line menu. Our order was huge and so worth it.

Came back for more falafel and kebab (combination platter). The Khachapuri, which we tried for the first time, was so good, it was worth "cheating" on our gluten-free diet. The falafel and kebab were just as good as ever.

Came to eat after 36 holes nearby. Ordering was quick and the outdoor patio and restaurant was packed. I ordered a cheese steak, cheese canoe and Za'atar flatbread. Everything was delicious!

Had a great Mother's Day lunch at Sasuns in Derwood yesterday. The sampler (hummus, baba gonoush, kibbeh, spinach pies, falafel, Greek salad, rice, pita, tzatziki, and stuffed grape leaves) is only $24 and we added gyro ($4). Everything was delicious. Not pictured we also had the amazing olive feta cheese canoe and lahmajun flatbread which were both amazing.

I've been wanting to check out Sasuns Cafe for awhile. Near the intersection of Redland and Muncaster Mill, they're easy to get to with plenty of parking behind the restaurant and their own patio for outdoor seating. I ordered through Slice which is linked through their website but went to pickup. I think there's more to their menu than what is available on Slice though. There's so much on the menu, but I got the Mutabal (smokey eggplant dip) and Chicken Shawarma platter. It was so much food, so I had it for dinner too. All very tasty. I can see why it's a neighborhood favorite! Will order again but think I'll just call direct cause it would probably be faster... Easier... Better for the restaurant.

The inside seating options are limited but there was plenty of space at the picnic tables outside to enjoy my meal with friends. I ordered at the counter and asked what options are vegan. I was told the Classic and Toum Raider were both vegan. I chose the Toum Raider as it has lots of vegetables and seemed like it would be more flavorful. The Manoushe was ready quickly and I was in heaven after my first bite. The vegetables tasted so fresh! The base of the Manoushe had the perfect amount of olive oil. It didn't taste greasy or heavy, and felt like the perfect lunch to enjoy the onset of summer. The aioli made me nervous that it contained egg because it was so creamy and delicious! I have been told three times it is vegan, so I will not think too hard about it and just enjoy this delicious sauce. I am excited to come back to order the Toum Raider again. Thanks Z&Z for the great vegan options!

Both had fluffy, airy dough and seemed similarly portioned to personal pizzas. The hot halaby honey ($17), with cheese and Armenian sujuk, ostensibly tasted like a pepperoni pizza at a fancy pizza place. The sujuk tasted like beef salami. The spicy baby had tomato sauce, a spicy sauce, basil, and labneh. The sharpness of the spicy sauce was tempered well by the refreshing labneh. The tomato sauce was savory and not too sweet. For someone used to Italian American cuisine,, this tasted like a a spicy margherita pizza with ricotta.

To my luck, we had great Uzbek food less than 15 mins away! It was a while ago but we ordered the samsa, manti, kutabi, plov, and chohohbli, and I can't recall what else but we loved it! Last night my husband and I decided to dine in. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with cultural artifacts and art. This may just be a me thing but the serveware was envy worthy. It was gorgeous. I'm obsessed with beautiful dishware. There were only two people taking orders and serving food for an almost full dining room so we were understanding of a bit of a wait time. The staff were very friendly and checked in on us when they could. We ordered the khachipuri, samsa, oxtail, chohobli, steamed rice, pilmeni, and hot tea. Both the khachipuri and samsa were flaky pastries: khachapuri filled with a salty stretchy cheese with a cheese pull that tasted better than it was Instagram-able and samsa filled with a savory meat/onion mixture served with a tomato based sauce. Get one per person because you will not want to share. We ordered fried mini dumplings which are filled with meat and also served with same tomato based sauce that came with the samsa. They were delicious but afterwards I saw that you can get them steamed in a broth, I told myself I have to get that next time. The slow-cooked, tender oxtail was served over the best crispy, fat-fried potatoes I've ever had. The chohobli (chicken stew) was fall off the bone into a delicious tomato-based stew. We ordered the rice to sop up the delicious stew. The tea really helped to cut the richness of all the delicious food. I have not shut up about this place since we had this meal. I will rave about it to just about anyone that will listen in hopes that they will come with me next time so we can order more dishes to share.

The ambiance felt luxurious and elevated, and there was even complimentary valet parking right outside the restaurant. To start, our server brought a piece of pita with a small plate filled with feta cheese, chimichurri (?), and an herb-seasoned butter. I loved the soft texture of the pita, and my favorite was the feta cheese. HUMMUS - 11 +14 for braised lamb shoulder Another friend recommended the lamb hummus to me, and it was delicious but very heavy. The pickled onions really helped cut the fattiness of the dip, and the lamb was very tender. PISTACHIO SOUP - 16 The soup was super thick, so it was very filling. Overall, pretty savory and delicious, just incredibly dense. My friend and I agreed that we should have just gotten one bowl of soup to share instead of each getting one because we were pretty full at this point. LAMB CHOPS - 58 Sadly, this one was a bit of a miss. I don't think four lamb chops were worth the price of $58. The lamb chops, while flavorful, were really chewy and tough to eat. However, the rice (chelow rice with tahdig) that came with it was phenomenal. When our server placed the bowl down, we could smell the warm, buttery smell instantly. I could literally just eat the rice on its own because it was seasoned on its own. SAFFRON & ROSE WATER ICE CREAM - 16 This came with two scoops of ice cream and a cookie in the middle. The cold dessert was a refreshing way to end a heavy dinner on a hot summer day. While it wasn't incredibly sweet, we thought it was sweeter than most ice creams. The saffron and pistachio flavors were very prominent. Delicious, and we were very pleased with our dessert selection. I'd like to revisit Joon eventually because I think I would have much preferred their chicken harissa and their kabob selections over their lamb chops. I saw other tables order platters of kabobs and those looked phenomenal. Joon is also on inKind, so we were able to pay with the app and save on our meal.

Put your order in at the counter and shop while they make your food- it's so efficient! My go to order: -Combination koobideh: 1 beef kebab and 1 chicken kebab served over a bed of saffron rice and sides of lavash bread, grilled tomatoes, onion, butter and sumac. This feeds me and my husband for two meals- so worth it! -Hummus: they have the best hummus in Rockville!! Garlicky, smooth, and dare I say, luxurious. You HAVE to try it! -Shirazi: refreshing cucumber, tomato, and onion salad with I think dried mint and lemon. So simple but so good. I could eat a whole container of this with hummus and rice. -Fried eggplant dip: this is fabulous too, and tastes so unique with the whey ingredient. You just have to believe me and try it. The dry mint makes it taste like tea leaves and so fragrant. -Their sandwiches are fantastic too and remind me of Vietnamese banh mi with the pickles, deli meat, and fresh herbs. We like the Kalbas sandwich- garlic mortadella with pistachio! The market is my go to place for dried chickpeas, olives, walnuts, Barbary bread, Persian cucumbers, feta, Persian yogurt, local eggs (Poolesville), fresh and dried herbs, olive oil, and so much more!
