    Red hook dlx burger

One of the things on the list that I wanted to go to was an East coast diner. I think my expectations were a little too high. I now realize that diners serve a function. Everything is not going to be good and some things should be avoided. I got the Red Hook Dlx burger. I don't know how it happened but the whole was less than the sum of the parts. All of the ingredients really spoke to me. Unfortunately the chili was bland, the burger under seasoned. Seriously with the canned mushrooms, it's an east coast thing I guess. The onions and bacon were the best parts. Cooked perfectly and plentiful. The lettuce just kind of got in the way. Empty vitamins. My wife got the tuna melt and the Greek salad. She was a big fan of the salad. The tuna tasted a little strange though. I loved the accoutrements. Fries were good. Under seasoned but I can operate a salt shaker. I love the inclusion of a couple onion rings. They were really good. I'm glad I got to try. Oh that pickle was so good. I want more of them.

I haven't had eggs Benedict in a very very long time and I had urge for some really good gooey eggs Benedict with home fries first, I had to talk them into the home fries instead of french fries then I get home and my eggs are definitely not deliciously gooey but over cooked hard as a rock ,hard boiled on an English muffin...... Really. Very disappointing

I love this placeeee!!!!! Wait staff is kind, professional, accommodating!! The restaurant is well cleaned and the portions are HUGE. Def not a Michelin star restaurant, but if you are there for the diner experience then it's fun! Seems like ok quality ingredients and a really kitschy experience

Damn good burgers. The wraps are yummy too. They also have punch cards which is noble of them.

The food was good and plentiful the way the Eveready diner used to be. Would have been 5 stars but the service was a little slow

Our drinks came out quickly As for our appetizers they came out promptly and were delicious. As for our main meals, the portions were perfect and the flavors were great. If you're look for authentic german cuisine the Jaeger Haus is the place to go!!! I am looking forward to our next visit.

On our way back from meeting our new grandson for the first time in Rhinebeck ((born early this…read moremorning, 10-4-25, and everyone doing splendidly) , we stopped at one of our favorite local places for authentic tasting German food--Jaeger Haus (5084 NY-9G) in Tivoli, NY.  My one sentence review for card-carrying members of team Cliff Notes: "German beer on tap, a good selection of German wines, and authentic tasting German cuisine at really reasonable prices served up by friendly staff in an environment which just exudes Gemütlichkeit."  Everyone else is invited to continue reading, Bitte. There used to be numerous German restaurants in NYC and throughout upstate NY, but over the years those numbers have dwindled substantially to a handful.  A relatively new addition to the local Hudson Valley dining scene Jaeger Haus was started in 2018 (in a 70 year old restaurant building) and serves up seriously tasty and authentic tasting German beer, wine, and food.  We've dined there a few times over the last two years of visiting this year--the mood is relaxed, the beer is delicious, and food remind us of our travels to Germany and Austria.  The menu is tight and by that I mean it's focused on what they do well--which is traditional German food. While I wish they might add a few classic German appetizers to their menu for variety, their range of entrees provides ample choice and I am slowly making my way through those selections. Lola, one of our servers for the evening, quickly took our drink orders.  I ordered a mug of Hofbrau Original Lager (on tap) and after being given a tasting, my wife ordered a pint of Hofbrau Weissbier (which is similar to the sort of wheat beer she occasionally enjoys).  So refreshing.  A basket of house-made thinly sliced Roggenbrot (rye bread) arrived soon after our drinks with softened butter, lightly sprinkled with sea salt. We passed on the appetizers, knowing that our entrees would be substantial.  My wife ordered the Wienershcnitzel which comes with braised red cabbage and house-made spaetzle lightly sauced with a cream gravy.  These are classic sides which one can find served in restaurants from Vienna or Munich to Heidelberg or Berlin.  I ordered exactly the same thing (having tried other dishes on our prior visits), except I ordered my Wienerschnitzel "a la Holstein" (with a fried local farm egg).  The egg, especially the large yolk, provides an added level of lusciousness to the crispy veal.   Our meals arrived in due course.  They were gorgeous to look at and ate even better than they looked.  The spaetzles were soft and fluffy, the red cabbage was rich and well spiced, and the veal . . . the veal was heavenly.  Crisp on the outside, fork tender on the inside, dipping into a bit of the egg yolk (in my case); goodness what a delightful taste sensation. Just delicious.  We both earned "clean plate" certificates tonight--suitable for framing--felt satiated, but not overly full (which is where we like to end a meal).  We nursed our beers a bit longer, sharing memories from this special day, paid our bill (the bill encouraged customers to tip in cash, which we did), thanked the staff, bid the co-owner "danke schön und Wiedersehen" and we were on our way.

Our mixed greens salad was excellent. We ordered a Margherita pizza with half a side of sausage. It was about the right amount for myself and my daughter to share. It was pretty good, thin crust, good dough. Could have had bit more char on the crust and base to help hold everything together as it was a bit too wet. I saw a reviewer here say it was as good or better than new haven pizza but having grown up in the next town over from new haven, I will say that this is better than average pizza but not really close to new haven-level. Go here if you are in the mood for pizza and are nearby.

The pizzeria is nestled at the end of a cobblestone path with many small shops around it. It also has outdoor sitting. We were seated immediately and we were offered the best crusted bread with some oil to deep. The kids and my mom wanted more! We ordered the Mediterranean salad ($17) the Cesar ($17) and three margaritas (26). It was 5 of us and we devoured the salads. They were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The pizzas were probably one of the best I had! The sauce was sweet, the cheese was a combination of fresh and grated mozzarella which I liked that since it covered the whole pie. The dough was the highlight of the pizza. Crusty and chewy at the same time!!
