This bakery/café has a cozy vibe! When you walk in, you are drawn to the large array of food and beverage choices. They have fair trade coffee and many tea options, numerous bakery and chocolate selections, and tastefully displayed snacks and candies. In addition, the food menu is diverse, with many vegetarian-friendly options. I ordered the chicken, rice, greens and black bean bowl, which was overflowing with food. I couldn't finish it! The tater tots are not to be missed. In addition, the chocolate chip bar is a known favorite. It was delicious! read more

Fire the girls at the front counter. I came in yesterday (10/13/2026) Nothing. No hi, how are you , hello.... NOTHING. Okay cool, so i'm getting the vibe that the place is closed (even the cafe that's supposed to be open later than the kitchen) which is fine.... Except.... the girls behind the counter say absolutely nothing to me. Nothing. No "oh hey sorry we're closing down early today" Literally TURNED THE MENU SCREENS OFF AND STAYED TURNED AROUND IGNORING ME. Just waiting for me to leave. Don't work in customer service if you cannot simply turn around, face a customer, and tell them that you are closed. USE YOUR BIG GIRL WORDS, you can do it! As a customer, and a fellow hospitality worker, it'd be best to fire the quiet girls who stare at you hollowly until YOU say something.... & get someone who has social skills maybe? read more

Cute little cafe for a drink and a snack. They've got lots of fresh baked goods, including macaron, lots of small tarts, and pastries. Their drinks are fun and creative. Inside has a great vibe and is a very comfortable space to just hang out or study. Would recommend if in the area. read more

I can't say enough good things about Taste Budd's cafe. I've ordered cupcakes 2 years in a row for our daughter's birthday and they delivered them to Bard. She loves them and said they were delicious. read more

We needed a pick-me-up at work so we decided to order out for lunch. The online menu is easy to use. We all put in our order and our food was ready by the projected time. Pick-up was easy- there is a shelf with your name on it with all of your bags. We got the Budds Boost Burrito and 2 Goblins. We also got chips and their version of a cafe mocha. Everything tasted fresh and delicious! Although we didn't eat inside, TBs always had a great vibe, and service is well-organized. read more

I'm a local and I can tell you that locals, visitors, and the Bard college students all love this place for a good reason. It's what one pictures when you think of a "cozy coffee shop", with all the amenities: comfy couches, plenty of outlets, good WiFi, amazing coffee and goodies GALORE. Parking: street only (only downside) Service: always friendly Ambience: cozy hippy, not hipster. Think groovy pillows and lyrical decor. Hard tabletop chairs though, for those who may need to sit for hours at a time. Adorable outside seating Food: so many options for literally anyone. I've never brought someone who couldn't find something to enjoy, and their breakfast sandwiches are sizable, almost massive Drinks: more options than one would find at Starbucks, for sure. The menu is almost overwhelming, but even if you order something wrong, you're going to enjoy it read more

This was my first time at Taste Budd's Cafe and I look forward to coming back soon. While I only had a scone the assortment of food could satisfy any palette. My chocolate chip scone was huge and comforting. The service was friendly and quick. From the moment I walked in I loved the cozy, welcoming, homey vibe. It felt like the old coffee houses I grew up with. People chatting at tables, reading books, working on computers and even painting at a table. I had a meeting with a new editor and despite the noise around us managed to have the necessary focused time together. I can't wait to return. Might even bring my computer and work on my memoir here. read more

Love this place, the overall aesthetic and ambiance is super cute and welcoming and makes it super homey, the people working there are super friendly and just the right amount of conversational. As for the food, I really enjoy their sandwiches, especially the Goblin Goat- it was so delicious and I loved the fruity combo with goat cheese and caramelized onions. Literally heavenly. I love their Berry Berry Mocha as well- I get it pretty much every single time. read more

One of the few places open on an early Tuesday morning. Easy to miss, as the cafe looks more like a house with a garden than a place to eat. Inside, plenty of room with seating at tables and stools along the windows. Kept it light by ordering a Pumpkin Muffin ($3) and a Large Coffee ($2ish). Muffin is fantastic - moist inside with a little crust on top from some seeds. Also like that the pumpkin isn't overpowering, since it would have been weird with the coffee. The drink itself is your basic fare, large but not very strong. There seemed to be a book club meeting of some sort that morning, though it didn't affect service. For warmer days, the outside seating looks inviting. read more

I have such mixed feelings about this place. It definitely has potential but misses the mark a lot on lunch. They seem to be a cafe, a confectionary, a bakery, and a coffee bar. The food is fair and I would say pricey for what it is. A tuna melt was about $10 served between two standard sized pieces of toast and a pickle spear. It would have been nice to offer a side or some greens. Same goes for the mozzarella sandwich served on a small ciabatta roll. The beer burger was decent sized but also no fries, potato salad, greens, or anything. The soups are meh and as good as they sound I would say skip them. To order your food you go up to the counter, make your selections and pay and they give you a sign with a number to place on your table. However, that's only for them to bring you food; you will need to keep checking the separate coffee counter for your drinks and get them yourself. The coffee was decent but the turmeric latte fell flat with very little flavor and not the nice yellow color we usually expect. One of the coffees was in a to go cup with a straw lid and I asked if they could give me another lid for the car since this one was open and the associate taped up the gap with scotch tape and told me that they don't have to go lids so usually just tape it....strange! We also tried the homemade muffins both wild berry and coffee cake and both were very good. As far as atmosphere the place is a dive but not in a cool way. It's a bit run down and tired with mismatched dated furniture and definitely in need of a makeover. There was a guitar and large speakers in the corner so I assume they must feature live music. In the back of the place they have a counter where they sell fancy chocolates and macarons. I assume they must sell a lot because there was quite a variety and while we were there trays of macarons were being brought out from the back and loaded on the shelves. All and all this is a place for healthy style food, decent deserts, and friendly workers that desperately needs a makeover and some tweaks to the dishes and service. It can also get very expensive (we paid over $60 for 3 lunches, drinks, and a few muffins). I gave them 3 stars feeling generous but probably with all things considered it should be 2.5. read more

Taste Budd's Cafe is a great place to go in Red Hook. The drinks are made well, the bakery items are good and the service is always pleasant and friendly. Sandwiches and salads are excellent as well. A definite go-to place when I'm in RH. read more

excellent coffee and sweet treats with a cozy atmosphere, good music, and nice employees

The food is reasonably good but the ambiance can vary depending upon who is present. The service is pretty much nonexistent-you have to get your own coffee, water, etc and you need to bus your own table, although sometimes a real person will bring out something that someone has ordered, especially if it could not be prepared quickly by the kitchen staff. read more

Hi, my name is Jim & I stopped today at Taste Budd's Cafe in Red Hook NY. I ordered my Aztec Cocoa with extra spice & 2 shots of espresso. It is my favorite drink !!! Delicious. My wife likes the Oatmilk Chai Latte with cinnamon on top, & we always get 2 oatmeal raisin cookies !!! The staff are so friendly & the Barista's I think use magic to make all of our drinks. While in Taste Budd's they always have local art work on display . The current art work is very colorful & happy with Peace and Love as a theme. What a lovely coffeehouse PLUS! It's packed. It's always full of out-of-towners or laptops using wifi. The staff tries to keep laptop campers from taking over entire tables but people can be d!cks. The staff, however, are infinitely helpful and patient- and they have to be. The menu is AWESOME!! Try the pain au chocolat and macarons! They have something for everyone and SO much more. The chocolates are a-mazing! Dare I say they give Krauss' (chocolatier in Saugerties and hands down my fav) a run for their money but the diversity and presentation is exemplary. This place makes Red Hook even better. The dining area is warm and inviting. If you are not from the area, this fine establishment represents the best of Dutchess & the Hudson Valley- at super reasonable prices. read more

Found Taste Budd's Cafe while on a quest to find good coffee while visiting Rhinebeck and happy we ventured off to Red Hook. I was passing through the town with a friend so we decided to stop in based on someone else's recommendation. Ordered a small cappuccino and there was a crumb cake in the case so I had that. Nothing else appealed to me. Little pricey with streusel on top, of the crumb cake, that was almost pure sugar. I picked most of it off. And, why all the complicated Wi-Fi codes in a basket that are all different? Why not just login when you're there, like it's done in most stores nowadays. It has a definite college-town feel and atmosphere. read more
