There is always a unique menu to order from here. I love the fresh options. The cashier was kind and friendly. The other workers were also kind and made a point to say hello. The sandwich was very good and there were great things to choose from to have on the side (chips, chocolate, olives and of course cheese!). Service isn't the best. Normally people like to be acknowledged when in a store and at the counter. Just a hello! Not forcing you to order when looking at the menu for the first time. It's a cute place and I love the wallpaper. I ordered food and the lady that took my order was having trouble focusing/ listening and added things to my bill. When I corrected her; she seemed to be paying attention, I thought she removed the item but she didn't. I order a drink (coffee) also and then changed my mind. When I told her I didn't want it she said she couldn't resell the paper cup to someone else. I know.... I know.. you must be thinking (WHAT it's just coffee!) I explained I didn't see the other sign with special drinks. So even though I wanted another drink that was more money, she kept it on my bill and gave it to me. That was when I decided not to go back ever again. Poor service, then I had added that specialty drink along with the coffee I got stuck with. Only to not ever receive it. I had to bother another girl to get my drink. She did tell me to wait she had to get this family's order first. That was rude. I waitressed before, so I can say that. Meanwhile I had finished my food (which was good) and coffee that I didn't want. I was there at least 30 mins and 15mins before the other family. They weren't busy. Every now and then you walk into a store and everything feels just right. The design, flow, ambiance, sounds and smells. Just perfect! Such is the case with Corner Counter. What an absolute gem. In some ways I am grateful we arrived 15 minutes before closing. There's just so much to take in from baked goods, jams and preserves, spices and condiments, and those cheeses and meats. Oh so good! Thank goodness we had time for the cheese and of course there was the cinnamon babka made from challah bread. Let me just say dear readers if you get the babka - and you must - use it to make French toast. What a wonderful discovery this place was. Enjoy! read more

What a great place! My friends and I stopped here last Sunday after spending the day at Omi in Ghent. I had the grilled cheese with fig jam and they both had the figgy piggy. Teas are by Harney & Sons and how can you go wrong with that! All three of us chose the seeded bread which was excellent. The place is bright, inviting and there's lots of stuff to shop for while your waiting for your meal. I will go again and I highly recommend you check this little gem out in our beautiful Hudson Valley. read more

We have visited the cafe for a few months now, and always enjoyed our experience. In the past, the sandwiches were wonderful.Today was a bit disappointing, without the cloth napkins. What does that tell you? We also miss the jolly lady making sandwiches. Her good nature and smile gave the cafe a presence. Everyone was a bit grim today. Perhaps one more try, hoping the lady with the good natured smile will have returned. read more

This is such a cute spot. Yummy food. Fantastic setting. We loved our afternoon snack. Wish it was closer to home to make it a regular spot!
