I think pre Covid might have been their height and they've lost their zest for business there…read moresouthern fried whiting was the worst inedible piece I fish I've had ; they weren't happy to see us the kids seemed restless. Our food took longer then expected . Their collard greens were terrible.. I make a way better batch for thanksgiving...Mac and cheese was ok fried chicken too but not for the prices ;they even switched our sides up ; unfortunately with a place like Su gar down the road whose owner is genuinely happy to see us and is a down eat in establishment and children who don't seem restless.. I feel this places needs a ton of help and we won't be back .

ORIGIN: Khalliah Murphy (aka Lady K) enjoyed cooking since…read moreshe was a little girl. After completing culinary school, Murphy started a Yonkers-based catering company, and later, in 2016, moved north to open a brick and mortar cafe -- Lady K's Southern Comfort. LOCATION: Lady K's Southern Comfort is located in a small strip mall along Violet Avenue/Route 9G. Ample parking is available. CONCEPT: Lady K's offers quintessential southern comfort food, such as rice with pigeon peas and slow cooked savory collard greens, however tastes of other culinary heritages, such as empanadas, are sprinkled across the menu. Lady K's primarily offers dishes that represent home cooked southern meals -- on site, as take out, or custom catered events. SERVICE: One thing that stands out about Lady K's Southern Comfort is the homey feeling. This extends to the service. During my weekend afternoon visit Khalliah and Shawn Murphy's daughter and son were eagerly helping (Little K and Littlest K). Although customers place their orders at the counter, I was still asked whether I liked what I had chosen. My response brought a proud smile to Little K's face! EXPERIENCE: Plates are available in three sizes, with a protein and two choice of sides. I experienced the small fried chicken with collard greens and macaroni and cheese on the side. Khalliah's family were known for their fried chicken recipe in their Bronx neighborhood, so it comes as no surprise that the chicken was expertly executed -- crisp, non-greasy exterior encasing juicy, moist interior at every bite. Complementing this was the collard greens, in which multiple flavors were married and had just the right amount of vinegary flavor. Next time I will ask for double sides of collard greens -- it's that outstanding! While multiple tables are set up for dining, Lady K's is currently primarily set up for take out. Although photos on Yelp suggest there was plated service in the past, all food is now served in compartmented styrofoam take out containers. This was my only disappointment as I feel household plates and utensils would reflect the homey dishes for those who are looking to dine in. TIPS: Check Lady K's Facebook profile for rare temporary changes in daily hours. Kool Aid is one of the beverage options. I have never seen that before in a menu and I think it's available adds to the homey aspect of the meals prepared at offered at Lady K's Southern Comfort. Kool Aid was a staple in homes in my neighborhood, and the cheerfully colored packets of flavoring powders are rarely found in grocery stores today.

We decided to try this place one day for dinner since it changed hands into a 'Jamaican'…read morerestaurant a couple years ago. Formerly The Lantern, still a bar vibe/a bit dark inside. We both got the jerk chicken with greens. While we finished our dinner and it tasted good; I have several specific impressions and suggestions for improvement. First of all, both of our dinners could have arrived much hotter. They were more like "well warmed" in a microwave than truly hot- so I assume that's how they typically do it there. We were hungry enough not to send it back to be 'heated up' more -but they should be aware of how hot their food should be when presented to customers. Second, we love Jamaican food- goat curry/jerk chicken/oxtails, greens, etc. This chicken was seasoned + tasty; but the chicken honestly tasted like BBQ chicken much more than the jerk chicken I've had in any other restaurants. Finally- and in the end this was the worst issue, the gal who was our waitress either had never done a waitress job before, or was so poorly trained at this establishment that she literally had no idea what she should be doing/noticing/taking care of. At various points, this was frustrating (she didn't check on us at all), didn't seem to know if we needed more water/napkin,etc. mainly because she just didn't walk by the table/or stand back keeping a watchful eye on her table. At certain points, I heard her boss talking to her and telling her what to do next- but clearly she didn't even have a basic concept of what she was supposed to be doing. I waited tables a lot thru college and eventually I felt sorry for her lack of training in a job where you clearly represent the business. But, we were the only people in there for dinner, only 1 person drinking in the bar besides us. It was just unacceptable. We won't return-but would love to find good Jamaican food somewhere in the region. PS It was several months ago when we ate there, hopefully staff is consistently better trained now.

My only complaint is the portion size -- there was a lot of rice but very little cabbage and oxtail meat. The space is nicely decorated, and the service was friendly.

This version wasn't the usual shaved ribeye. it was thinly sliced, incredibly tender, and seasoned to perfection. The cheese sauce was rich and flavorful. My only critique is the roll, it was super soft, so the juicy meat and cheese made it a little soggy. Still, the flavor more than made up for it, easily a 4 out of 5 on the sandwich alone. The rest of the experience? Absolute 10. They know how to season their food, and the variety of sauces they offer takes things to the next level. My husband tried the beer flight and loved it. We sat outside, and the whole place had such a fun, laid-back energy. We're not from the area, but if we were, this would be a weekly go-to. Highly recommend for foodies, beer lovers, and anyone who appreciates bold flavors and a good time. Service was great and I have nothing it good things to say.

Although tasty it was sweet and needed more chipotle. The highlight was the in-house cut French fries that needed a dash of salt that we added. Ordered an all day shandy that could have been colder. I tried three items: the blueberry corn cookie, maple cruller, and the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. All were fantastic. The corn cookie was a novelty. It was crumbly and slightly gritty, as corn pastries tend to be. It wasn't too sweet. Although I'm glad I tried it, the cookie pales in comparison to the cruller, which was deliciously sweet, with crisp edges and a soft, custardy interior. The sandwich was great, as well. The eggs were fluffy, the bun soft, the bacon thick and crisp. It was good! If you're visiting Hudson, make this your first stop!

Juicy deliciously spiced chicken is here!!…read more Very focused menu here and I love that.. means what they offer is what they do really well. Rotisserie chicken is their thing. You can get the whole chicken, half or quarter. For me, quarter was more than enough. If you get a quarter chicken, you get two sides. If you get half a chicken, then you get three sides. I feel like it should be the opposite to offset the amount of food. But honestly it was perfect, still a big portion. For sides, they offer crispy fingerling potatoes, cole slaw, market salad and butter rice. Their Cole slaw is amazing with that poppyseed dressing. And salad had a variety of greens and crunchy toppings with a light dressing. Also! The plate comes with two sauces - spicy chili oil (mild) and yogurt dip. It was all SO FREAKING GOOD. I'm a dipper so bring on the sauce! The drink offering is also abundant. Lots of craft sodas, botanical drinks, coffees and a full bar in the back. Ghia hit the spot for me. It's not cheap but for this quality of food it's more than worth it. For the vibe..it's a confused vibe. You order at the counter and sit down with a number to wait for your food. The decor is eclectic which I thought was fun. But the music.. it went from country to weird edm dance music. I think Kittys can gain a lot from a curated playlist. Sitting there I felt curious and excited to be immersed more but it wasn't giving.
