Food is delicious, definitely worth checking out. No where to sit inside from what I recall but it's a good take out option

A little quaint gem (a bit eclectic) that serves comfort foods in a friendly atmosphere…read more Their menu consists of various chicken sandwiches (fried, grilled or cauliflower), burgers, all day breakfast, soups and salads. We enjoyed the Figgy chicken sandwich (fig jam, plentiful greens, cheese and chicken, bun could have been better quality) with salad (pretty fresh), and the Caesar chicken sandwich with fries. The server (owner?) was very friendly and explained the menu, saying specifically that the chicken sandwiches are made to order. There were only two other occupied tables on a Saturday afternoon and the food took a little while to come out (not very bad but not super fast). It also seems like a place that should be crowded but wasn't. Coffee was self service. They also had a pumpkin pie in a plastic container (didn't look homemade) in the front. There's a little children's play area in the back. And the unisex bathroom was very large. It's located on a street with lots of shops and other eateries (pizza etc).

We stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday and had an overall awesome experience. Our waitress was very nice, really chill, checked in once but if we had flagged her over I'm sure she would have been attentive more but we just didn't need anything. We ordered two different versions of their chicken sandwiches and they both were amazing! I ordered the club and substituted out for the Big Mac sauce, it was ridiculously delicious! The owner/chef I believe came over after our food was served which was really nice to check in and offered some future suggestions that we'll be sure to take her up on. The food was cooked to order, super fresh and a lot of details that made it a perfect bite! Cute place with a variety of seating options, the old brick work pops through in some places which adds a really nice historic charm to the place. We'll definitely be back to give a few more menu items a try!

The broth is excellent in both the Miso and Kuro ramen; the Kuro in particular was a standout, especially paired with the house-made gyoza. The kimchi tasted fresh, and it was great to see real wakame used rather than a shortcut substitute. The wait staff is a bit inexperienced, and the restaurant layout is awkward. Reservations are apparently recommended, and this isn't a place to visit if you're in a rush. Still, those minor drawbacks are easy to overlook given the quality of the food. You'd have to drive into NYC to get better ramen. Highly recommended.

Plus, we were craving a soul-soothing, heart-warming bowl of noodle goodness to warm us up from the inside out. Tanma's front counter space is petite with about 6 stools and giving you an eyeful of ramen magic in the kitchen. The izakaya is fun with Japanese rock music playing- which loosely reminded me of Kill Bill's 5.6.7.8's scene. Tanma's owner was thorough and gave hubs and I a crash course on bowl+spoon placement, aligning the wakame to be at the front, sipping the broth first, pulling noodles high and dipping them in and out the broth. And then just then you move your head closer to the bowl, so that you can take in the delicious ramen combo without spilling any and slurp it up. I've had ramen in Scarsdale with a clear veg broth, topped with crispy tofu, grilled tomato slices, Napa cabbage and other grilled veg. So getting an all-veg broth with a splash of coconut cream to mimic pork broth here wasn't what I expected. Getting an all-clear veg broth here isn't an option either- but what's important is we were assured it's a herbi-broth that's used. The kimchi, bamboo shoots and shredded cabbage toppings were nice- but I opted out of the vegan chashu instantly. Again, I was assured it's vegan- but no thank you. This was an experience for both of us- and we liked it. So whether you're a ramen pro or curious newcomers like my husband and I- and you're ready to dive into the deep end of this noodle soup pool, Tanma is the place.

Country-chic style, cozy+dim feel and the black and white in-your-face white checkerboard floor make up the inside design. The only thing missing on an unseasonably cool August summer was a crackling log fire. Their menu, is the main catch here. The menu changes often(?) depending on what's in season. Go for the prepped veggies+proteins or order from the menu like I did. Their 'Specials' menu lists items you can tweak and their regular menu offers fixed items. I ordered from both. Hubs enjoyed the grilled chicken panini with Swiss+raw onions and mayo I picked for him. My mixed green salad with feta+walnuts+apples+cranberries was great on its own- but I added a grilled salmon piece for added protein. Purely wholesome. I hesitated using their provided balsamic 'dressing' for fear it might include any kind of mustard- but that sucker was a silky balsamic emulsion that made my entire salad come together- even drizzled it on my salmon. And the soup in all this? Hubs liked the meat chili and I thoroughly enjoyed my Vegan Chili. If you're having your meal here, be ready for the laid-back mood and pleasant service from Deb.
