Services was good. 2 guys working a holiday weekend looked pretty busy. 1 at grill and the other taking orders and making cold subs. They had tons of interesting flavor combos posted with unique handwritten signage. A cooler with water and cans of soda, Coke products and a rack with chips on it. We were looking for a decent Italian deli for some good sub sandwiches whilst out on a day trip in the area, and not knowing where anything was asked around and checked Yelp. Our investigations led us here, a seemingly little hole in the wall next to a Doctor's office and a salon. Even while walking in, you could see that the vibe was of a frat house that happened to serve the food they were inventing in their crazy minds. This was no Italian deli. But the food was intriguing. And loud! Loud music, loud posters (in various neon colors), loud people, etc. If you could imagine a bunch of college kids sitting around and brainstorming what types of food they like to eat (deep fried stuff, sub sandwiches, burgers, chicken, BBQ or ranch sauce, cheese, etc.) and then figuring out as many mathematical ways to stick them between hard rolls, sub rolls, or wraps... you could kind of get the idea of what his place is all about. I had the "Big Daddy Kane" with a burger, grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, hot sauce, and barbeque sauce. Not wanting to contaminate it with vegetables, I left the normal lettuce/tomato off. It was a great sandwich, though not as stuffed as I would have imagined. Considering the caloric intake I already got, I didn't complain. My wife had a turkey sub and seemed to enjoy it, though I think if you go into a place like this and order a "traditional" sub you are missing the point. Everything in here was fun. I was going to joe beez sense the had just opened back in the old pappy and sons building. I use to frequent it at least 3x a month at the minimum. I moved away to California and when i came back joe beez had a new location on broadway (where it is now). I stopped in when i moved back this was mid 2016 and it was the same joe beez i remember. Well soon after i moved to NYC which was my plan when coming back to NY. Sense then i havent been there until today and i was telling my girl how amazing the sandwiches are and all the unique kinds they have. We order and get home to unwrap our sandwiches to see they were very different in appearance to start. We got 3 sandwiches... the balboa, the Herman munster and the chicken Caesar wrap. The steak on the balboa was so dry and felt like chewing a rubber tire. I remember way back in the the old shop getting that sandwich and it was so juicy it was dripping out when you'd take a bite. Not anymore! Dry isnt even the word. The Herman munster was sub-par at best and the bacon was so cooked it was basically petrified. The Caesar was the only okay one out of all 3 and even then it was just chicken, lettuce and dressing. The buns are completely different and terrible. They used to be over the top now they taste like Walmart roll. I would never go here again. I feel terribke for my girl as shes a chef and i hyped it up amd she was left still starving cause the meat was just bubblegum. $35 flushed down the toilet. Work of advice, if you havent been to joe bees in quite some time i would highly recommend to avoid it. They must have a new owner or something cause it's completely changed and in a every bad way possible. read more

I don't know if they changed owners but they got rid of 3/4 of the hero's on the menu including my favorite, the Apollo creed. I use to live in Kingston and go there three times a week until I moved and decided to get a hero from my favorite place for the first time in a couple years. The workers were still very nice and great so I don't want to leave a horrible review due to menu changes. Please bring back some of the old hero's again. read more

Solid, good value sandwiches. The cashier said their most popular sandwiches were either the Prodigy (a grilled chicken, sauced up and cheese sandwich) or the Balboa (standard Philly cheesesteak). I went with the Balboa and it was a satisfying cheesy cheesesteak. Probably could have used more meat and toppings, but it was still a full, delicious foot long sandwich. Was there on Feb 3 got the duke sandwich .. it was very good with cut up grilled chicken and onions with bacon in barbecue sauce. Delicious !! And only $6.25!! So I was in Kingston again today and got the same Duke sandwich . Well I was a little disappointed since the price went up to 8.75 for the same sub a few days ago .. and it was minus bacon which kinda makes the sub worth it.. Joe Beez has changed and not for the best!! What a disappointment!! What was once glorious is now no better than Jersey Mike's. I should have known something was up when I went during prime lunch hours and they were not busy at all. The staff was friendly. The sandwich has gone down in size. I ordered the Rambo ( first time ordering this sandwich as I usually stick with the Godfather, the Herman Munster, or the Cubano). There was hardly enough meat/veggies to half way fill the bread. I will say the bread is still some of the best!!! Now with my other issue , what happened to all the sandwiches that were once offered?? The paper signs hanging on the wall for each sandwich?? Now there is a menu board with only a handful of the original sandwiches being offered!!! WTH???? Against my better judgment, I went back a few days later to try one of my usual sandwiches, hoping it was just that particular sandwich that was off. Nope, the Godfather is no longer the same. Joe Beez is the real deal. Every sandwich I've had here is really good (both the breakfast ones and the non-breakfast ones). There's a ton of variety here, so you'll never get bored of the choices. Well as others said it has a large selection hanging on the walls , as well as will make changes on request without a blink . Good music too think easy alt top 40. I got a godfather and they had it in my hands in about a minute. So tasty and not hungry after this for sure. They do have a counter to the side with chairs and stools to eat there on this cold snowy day. The review saying no where to sit needs to come back. Do yourself a favor and try this place. I heard about this place through a friend. We came here after climbing so we were pretty hungry. The subs are huge and pretty cheap. I would say it's cheaper than Subway. I ordered the sugar bear, which was just roast beef but it tasted so good the next day. They have a lot of options. It was actually quite overwhelming but seems like most of their subs are good! A week ago I ordered some catering items for a work retirement party on 9/24/16. We ordered 4 different items. Baked ziti, eggplant rollatini, chicken Marsala and chicken Parmesan. We arrived at the pick up time, paid the bill (which was super reasonable for 55 guests) and the staff loaded our car with their super hot catering trays. They even offered us towels to unload the hot trays if needed. We reached our destination, kept the food warm and served it 2 hours after pick up. It was by far the easiest catering decision and deal. The food was loved by all, not one complaint! The chicken and eggplant were the hits of the food and they provided plenty of it for the cost. I would highly recommend the Joe Beeze Catering any time! I expect we will re order in the future. read more

First, the disclaimer. I have wanted to try this place ever since they started donating chicken bits to The Queens Galley Soup kitchen where I work. By chicken bits I mean the bits of fresh chicken that are left after chicken has been taken off the bone and trimmed to form uniform pieces. Ususally a sign of a kitchen that cares about quality. I finally siezed the moment about two weeks ago, it was late and I was headed home and REALLY hungry. There was a parking spot right out front (I took this as a karmic invite). Even though they were about ten minutes before closing I was greeted with a smile and felt reassured that I could order anything off the menu (even though the grill had obviously just been scrubbed to within an inch of its life). First: Whoooaaaa... the menu ! For a sandwich place these guys sure know how to put ingredients together in creative ways. In handwritten placards on all of the walls are the sandwiches with names as creative as the construction (my head still reels from the chicken combinations alone!). I knew that I was getting some sort of chicken sandwich (homage to the soup kitchen) and soup. I like soup. Actually, I am a soup snob. Many places in Kingston make sub par soup. I had the Cream of Broccoli. Let's just say the chicken sandwich was great. If the soup maker at Joe Beez reads this I hope that they don't take it personally but please, please don't be so mean to broccoli ever again. Cook it gently! When a cruciferous veg cooks too long it breaks down in very specific ways (by the way you CAN use that to your advantage...but that's another dish and another post). Make your veloute, gently cook the broccoli and then puree it to the consistancy you want. It should be various shades of ivory/bright green NOT army olive drab. Cream of Broccoli is not a steam table friendly soup. Hold it in small batches so it doesn't over cook. Back to the chicken. Bravo. Moist, tender, appropriately sauced and just the right amount of cheese (I had the chicken parm special). I'm looking forward to another visit, and to try a different soup. They make it from scratch and that says something about them to begin with. Maybe next time it will be a chicken soup :) Good food, good value, nice people. read more

When I was in college at SUNY New Paltz, I was introduced to Joe Beez on some random day that I decided to skip class. I can't remember what class I skipped, but I do remember that my trip to Beez was SO WORTH IT. I'm all for a good sandwich, but these surpass that boring lunchtime label; these are masterpieces. When you walk into the shop, it can be somewhat overwhelming because their walls are covered in laminated signs, each with the name of a sandwich and a description. I first started going during my vegetarian days and would always order the Alice in Wonderland (Grilled mushroom, onions, peppers, muenster cheese, romaine, tomatoes and sweet vidalia dressing), which was always packed with ingredients for like six bucks. Since giving up on my veg ways, I've ordered a few really stellar Italians from there, but I also had to order their most famous sandwich, The Prodigy (Grilled chicken, bacon, hot sauce, BBQ sauce, cheddar and blue cheese). The owners seem very community minded as well, and I think that's really important and special in small business, especially ones that receive the amount of attention and support that Joe Beez does. Along with the menu items, their walls are covered in old photos, little pieces of memorabilia and little notes and things from customers. There always seems to be a rotating crew of regulars in the shop and the staff is so friendly and welcoming that they make you feel like one of their regulars. There are a LOT of subs/wraps/burgers with clever names....apparently they have a sandwich contest every year? Anyway, I got the Bob-E Flay wrap, which had chicken salad, bacon, pepperoni and chipotle ranch, I think some vegetation...? It was delicious. Good sized and like, $8. Can't beat it!! I wouldn't recommend getting the breakfast sandwiches here, it wasn't very good, there wasn't enough in it, it was very bready. everything else was pretty good though, but I think my favorites were the billy holiday and the mary swansan. the billy holiday was your basic thanksgiving sandwich, which included turkey, stuffing, coleslaw, and cranberry sauce. the mary swansan was interesting and very good, it had pulled pork, mac n cheese, chipotle ranch, and pickled jalapenos, definitely try that one. I had potato salad here once and it was just alright, I wouldn't say that I'd recommend it. one issue I've had is that the bread can be hit or miss. sometimes it's fine but other times it was stale and hard I don't think I've ever had bad service here. The place itself seems pretty run down and worn in, not exactly clean but the kitchen was probably sanitary. I'd suggest getting your food to go. One thing I liked is that they had a CD booklet from my favorite band included in a collage they had hanging on the wall, it was from Green Day's Dookie. Overall I'd rate this place a 3.5 out of 5 stars, I would definitely go back if I was in need of a quick cheap lunch in Kingston. read more

I was very tempted to give Joe Beez five stars because, as a sandwich shop, you really can't beat it. They have this incredible variety of sandwiches (I think over a hundred easy) and they all have unique names and some named after prominent locals, which is very cool.
