The Mexican was better than I remembered from last year. Vivaldi's is not far from Four Brothers. For me, it is a better pizza. Four Brothers tastes like what it is -- pizza you'd get someplace outside of a metro area. I don't even think pizza is what Four Brothers does best. Vivaldi's feels like they're trying to bring a decent pizza to the Berkshires and they're in a good position to do so despite the influx of competition. On their Mexican pizza, I'm not a huge fan of the black olives. They just have too strong a taste for me. Once you bite into one that is almost all you can taste. The pie would benefit from a bit of pico de Gallo to give it more of a Mexican flavor.On the plus side, they don't load it with so much stuff that the slices become impossible to pick up. Parking in this area is hit & miss since they share a gravel lot with several other businesses. Depending on when you go it can be adventurous. The place isn't exactly visible when you're driving on Route 7 so keep in mind that if you're already past the Price Chopper lot you might have missed this place. Vivaldi's gets a four from me based on their location in Great Barrington. Be thankful there isn't a Papa John's or Domino's up here.

The total price came to be $30.10 (including tax). The quality of the food was very good. The vegetables for the salad were fresh and crisp. The pizza crust was thin. The pineapple melted into tomato sauce and cheese, not sliced or diced and spread on top. The pizza was very tasty but not greasy. The prices on the menu had not been updated. The prices charged, although still reasonable compared with other restaurants, were higher than those on the menu. The receipt showed only the total price; it did not list itemized orders. We gave this restaurant a 4-1/2, instead of 5, star rating because of these two minor issues with its menu and receipt.

We were not demanding a different table -- we were told it would take approximately 30 minutes for another table in a different section to become available, and we happily said we were willing to wait. We sat quietly outside with our dog while waiting. The owner then approached us and told us that waiting for another table would interfere with future seating. We were surprised by this, as we had simply accepted the wait time that was provided to us and had not caused any disruption. The interaction escalated when the owner used profanity toward my husband and threw the water bowl that had been provided for our dog in our direction. We were shocked by the hostility and left without eating. We completely understand that restaurants have to manage reservations and seating, and we would have accepted being told that our request could not be accommodated. What was unacceptable was the way we were spoken to and treated by the owner. We came here excited to spend our money at this restaurant as part of our trip, but we are grateful that Great Barrington has many other excellent establishments where we were welcomed and happy to spend our money instead.
