    Box burger
    John H.

Quite possibly one of the best burgers I've ever had. I want to cover everything in that bacon jam. The box burger is delicious and worth the extra few minutes drive. The sirloin patty is juicy and beefy, nestled in the softest of brioche buns. The bacon jam just takes it next level. Pricey but worth it. The fries are hand cut and chefs kiss. Note they put salt and pepper on their fries so if you have kids who may not like spicy black pepper, make sure to let them know. Love the side of the road burger shack vibes and there is lots of outdoor dining space and picnic tables. Very kid friendly and open fields for them to run around. It can be a bit of a wait as the food is cool to order but worth it. A must try!

"And it's just a box of rain I don't know who put it there Believe it if you need it Or leave it if you dare" (Grateful Dead) Yes, you sure do need it. If you are ever near Great Barrington, you NEED to stop here and have one of the best comfort food meals you've had in a long, long, time. Our timing to be up that way was perfect, because they just opened for the season yesterday. We parked on a side road/driveway on the left side of the Bistro Box, and the first thing that hit us was the fantastic aroma of grilling burgers. That's because their cooking is done to order on an outdoor grille, so your food is about as fresh as fresh can be. Bistro is a casual roadside eatery selling chicken, burgers, dogs, salads, fries, ice cream and a ton of sandwiches. They have a spacious outdoor seating area with benches, picnic tables and games. We ordered a chicken quesadilla ($10) with salsa and sour cream, a Roadside Burger ($13.50) with ground sirloin, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a toasted brioche bun served with pickles. I added an order of candied jalapenos for a buck, and we split a bottle of Hal's Black Cherry Seltzer ($3). They gave us a buzzer, we grabbed a picnic table, watched the line of people waiting to order grow and grow and grow, and chilled to their sound system's eclectic choice of blues, Eagles, Charlie Daniels, Billy Joel, Raspberries, and more excellent tunes. My burger was phenomenal, clearly one of the very best I've had in ages. The soft roll, the big grilled hamburger patty, the crunch of the onion slices and celery, and the bite of the jalapenos complemented each other to perfection. Now that we know how great the Bistro Box is, I suspect we'll visit whenever we go up to Lee or Great Barrington. It was that good. PRO TIP Facing the stand, DO NOT pull into the driveway on the right (southbound) side of the stand. DO pull into the driveway on the left (northbound) side of the stand.

The burger smothered in carmelized onions, bacon and cheddar cheese was amazing. The fries were cooked to perfection. It was a beautiful summer day. My only question is was it worth the two hours in line? And that was at 2:30 in the afternoon!

Don't let the long line stop you from visiting this absolute gem of the Berkshires. While it's not fun standing in the sun, there's definitely a reason people are willing to wait. The food here is fresh, very well executed, and there is a great variety to the menu. This place has everything you could want on a summer day, burgers, fries, salads, fresh lemonade, and ice cream. After ordering you are given a pager son you can pick a spot to sit out back, they have a huge lawn, tables, and even some games. Food is prepared pretty quickly and portions are huge. An order of fries can definitely be shared. They will give to go boxes though, so leftovers are no problem. A great stop, I can't go to the Berkshires without eating here once at least.

I love this place! The food is always great. Delicious and well-made eats. The service can be better, but I think they slow down the line in order to pace with the output of food. The staff at the bistro box is always super friendly and helpful. The bistro box roadside shack is super cute. I don't know how they make such great food in there, but they do! I can personally vouch for the burger with tomato bacon jam, the chicken sandwich with aïoli, the hotdogs, and the fries. I have taken guests there, and they are always amazed at the good food. Of course I'll be back.

We ordered the steak and cheese, box burger, truffle fries, garlic&herbs fries, and loaded bacon potato soup. Cute area to eat out and chill. They have tons seating area and also outdoor games like bean bag toss. My garlic& herbs fries tasted burnt to me it was way too over done for me. My bf liked the tomato bacon jam from the box burger. We were the first customer so there was no1 when we got there but people started coming in right after.

If you are looking for some great ambiance and the BEST burger around look no further!! There will be a wait, but it WILL be worth it!! I highly recommend their signature "Box Burger" it comes with their homemade tomato jam which is chef's kiss! And you can't leave without having the Truffle Fries! This place is a MUST SEE on your way into Great Barrington!

We LOVE it here! It's 100% worth the wait in line. The best time to go is the middle of the week on a sunny day. You can set out a blanket and relax while you wait for your food and have a little impromptu picnic. You can also sit at the picnic tables and take some time to play frisbee or cornhole. The staff working definitely enjoy what they do and that really shows in the food that they produce. Our go-to is the Box Burger, chili cheese fries, and occasionally their Turkey wrap. The portions are great and the food is always fresh and it's worth every penny. If you get the chance, go!

The burgers and fries here are a step above what you will find at even a fine restaurant. The incredibly scrumptious burgers cooked to order. They clearly use high quality beef and prepare it on the spot. Also, be sure to have the parmesan-truffle oil potato fries that will knock your socks off! (Sandals off?). Every bite is incredible. My recommended hack is to order the sirloin burger but ask for the jam from the Box Burger. What a combination! The jam is the perfect condiment and should not be forgotten. I am told that the falafel burger is also fantastic for vegetarians in your group. But get the burger if you can stand to do so. It is worth the calories. As others say, do be prepared to wait. Or, show up just before noon when the lines are shorter. An outdoor backyard is a fun place where your kids and dogs can run around. They even provide a frisbee for fun.

Absolute heaven! Best service and food and atmosphere! Gets better every year!!! One of my favorite spots in the country!

What else is on the menu besides Bagels?…read more I saw a lot of Jewish neighborhood items like bialys, smoked salmon, egg creams. whitefish salad, baked salmon salad, corned beef, matzoh ball soup, pastrami, chopped chicken liver, rugelach, and brisket among the seemingly hundreds of other choices. Simply put, Great Barrington Bagel is one fantastic place of fantastic choices. Let's start with their bagels, I mean after all, that's the namesake of the place. They make them the traditional NYC way - boiled and then baked in a 500-degree oven for a dense crust and chewy interior. How many kinds of bagels do they make? How about 21, plus spinoff types like bialys and flagels (flat crusty bagels). Oh, and do you want cream cheese on top of that particular bagel you had to agonizingly choose among? Well, be prepared for another tough choice, because GBBC has 17 flavors of cream cheeses. I ordered a cup of Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzoh Ball ($4.75) and a BLT on a jalapeno bagel ($8.50). Their indoor tables are still not available, but there were maybe six big picnic tables with benches outside. Everything was occupied when we walked outside with our food, including one table where an unsmiling matronly type nursing a cup of Dunkin Donuts informed us in no uncertain terms that she was holding that table for her friends' arrival, and she'd rather not share her precious table with us. Anyway, we eventually found a table and enjoyed our lunch. My soup was great! Lots of big carrot chunks, delicious tender chicken chunks, and a very good matzoh ball, served with bagel chips. The BLT had quite a bit of perfectly cooked Hickory Smoked Bacon. I had my Jalapeno bagel toasted. It was served with a sour pickle spear and was a real good combination of tastes and textures. My only quibble was the Jalapeno Bagel itself, it just wasn't very "jalapeno-y" to me. But that was just a teeny tiny blip on the day's radar. Well, that and the guardian of the bench, who was still sitting there by herself as we cleaned up our trash and left. As I was leaving, I looked her in the eyes and said, "Hope you enjoy your lunch". Sensing none of my sarcasm, she smiled and said thanks.

I have also been blessed enough to have their breakfast sandwich and honestly words cannot even capture that experience so just order one yourself. The bevs? I am a beverage lover and have been severely disappointed and let down by neighboring local establishments when it comes to their matcha and iced coffee selection. But Robbie's? They've done it. An incredible matcha. A spicy iced chai. Incredible iced coffees. You couldn't ask for more. The service is also absolutely amazing. I came for breakfast right at 9AM on the first day they had earlier opening and it took them fifteen minutes to make my breakfast sandwich -- which isn't even a long wait when compared to other GB sandwich shops *cough cough Rubi's*. And they're were so kind and appreciative that I waited they gave me a little breakfast oat bar on the house (which was also incredible and warm and tasted like the concept of breakfast, if that makes sense). Also -- they serve Pastries by Hanna AKA the greatest donuts known to man. Like maybe go just for those on the weekends. Overall, they're amazing and will grow tired of seeing me.

The pillowy softness of the pita, the smooth velvety texture of the hummus, the sweetness of the beets, and the saltiness of the olives all combined for one fantastic sandwich.
