"You never see it coming, You never have a clue,…read moreBut there's trouble on the horizon, Bubbling like a roux" (Jimmy Buffet) Walking around and browsing the shops in Great Barrington on a beautiful Spring Day was a real enjoyable experience. We wanted to try a new place for lunch and ended up at Marjoram And Roux for a very nice lunch, It has a front showcasw with baked goods and prepared salads and a big roll of butcher paper on the wall where the day's specials are listed. We ordered at the front counter, grabbed a table in the modestly sized dining room and our two sandwiched came out very fast. My wife ordered a Prosciutto Baguette with arugula, red pepper tapenade, and Buffalo Mozzarella with an aged balsamic dressing for $16. I ordered a Pita Sadwich with White Bean Hummus, Beets, Olives, Pickled Onions, and Arugula for $12. Both sandwiches were served with a small salad of local greens. I loved my sandwich. The pillowy softness of the pita, the smooth velvety texture of the hummus, the sweetness of the beets, and the saltiness of the olives all combined for one fantastic sandwich. Portion size was generous, and since we knew we'd be stopping down the street for ice cream, we each took home half of our lunch. Pricing was reasonable at just around $30 after tax and before tip. There's a lot of lunch choices in Great Barrington and we were very happy with ours.

Very good coffee and hot drinks, teas, iced drinks. We split a spinach croissant into 4 and inhaled it in 2 seconds, it was good. The small menu of specials, written on white butcher, paperhanging on the subway tiled wall, looked fabulous. But the prize goes to the big, round Ginger Molasses cookie, studded with ginger and perfectly sweetened. A few cozy tables, nice natural lighting, relaxing background music and a friendly staff make for the perfect stop along your way.

Returning from upstate NY, wife and I had a chance to visit Great Barrington and SoCo Creamery. The…read morereason why I wanted to stop is that I read that SoCo was voted either #1 or #2 Ice Cream vendor in the Country. So, of course, we had to check it out. Also, I have not ventured a ton in western Mass (Berkshires) so this was a great chance. As we first noticed, there was a bunch of activity around SoCo. Lots of customers and a very busy street. SoCo is a neat stop with the focus on Ice Cream. When we walked in, there was a full line of customers waiting for their cone/cup of ice cream. The line moved quickly and there was plenty of staff willing to help. One thing that I was surprised at was that there was not a ton of flavors to choose from. Maybe 20 total.....which, to me, seemed like a small amount. I did not take that as a negative just surprised because I have been to a few that have over 30-40 flavors to choose from. I had chocolate chip and my wife had peanut butter fudge chocolate. We both raved about the flavor and taste! We both had smalls and just the right amount of ice cream. Price: reasonable ($5 each) Service: Excellent Vibe: laid back and family friendly Parking: plenty of parking Soft Serve; No (I did not see any) Hard Ice Cream: Yes Would I return: Of course...if In the area again

So delicious! I tried a honeycomb limited edition cup and wish o had tried the six flavor flight…read morebecause the flavors all look amazing.
