This place has the most amazing decor! Very artsy, eclectic and quaint at the same time. Service was good. Love all the funny signs! The food was good. We had the eggs Benedict, both regular and Irish (with corn beef hash). The regular was ok, eggs were a bit undercooked. The corn beef hash was better. The cheesy grits were good but a bit watery. The server never refilled our coffee or water. But overall, a good experience.

We visited this spot with a pretty big group. They accommodated us and the service was quick. Mostly everyone ordered different items and were happy with the food. 4 of us ordered the chicken and waffles and OMG best chicken and waffles I've ever had. I recommend this item off the menu hands down. Everyone was nice.. no complaints at all. Side note: some of the waiters and waitresses wore t shirts with bad reviews of the establishment printed on them. I thought that was funny and pretty cool. If you are in the area, I recommend

We picked up food from Otto's to take back to our hotel. Getting it take out, could have affected the quality. We ordered the buttermilk chicken tenders with Mac salad, the grilled cheese brisket with fries, and a side of cheesy grits. The buttermilk tenders were incredible. They were crispy and nicely seasoned. The Mac salad was basic but still solid. It was mayo based. I like my Mac salad to be a little tangy but this one was not tangy. The brisket grilled cheese was good. The bread was a bit soggy because of the juices from the brisket. Flavor wise, it was nicely seasoned and tender. It came with pickled red onions which is can be an acquired combination. The fries were incredible. They were crispy and salted nicely. They were the type that had the skin on them in shoestring form. Soooo good! The grits....omg. I couldn't believe how good they were. They had the perfect amount of cheese. It wasn't very grainy. Such a perfect consistency. Mixed with the chicken tenders? Match made in heaven. The service was good. They workers were nice even though they were dealt a less than preferable hand because of the snowstorm. The vibe inside was quirky and fun.

Read the bad reviews customers left that are printed on the staff t-shirts. This negative vibe welcomes you at the door. Strange idea.

Well, I have mixed feelings about this place, we tried to go there on Monday, Labor Day because the biz info said it was open till 2pm. I drove up there and they decided to close at noon and didn't answer the phone at 12:01 with us outside looking in. Always nice if there's some warning about holiday hours on the door or on the business page is so tourists don't get stuck outside. But we did return the next day passing through that area. I was a little taken back by all the rude comments on staff T-shirts from other reviewers that thought the staff was rude or unfriendly. All the staff is wearing these comments on their backs and it kind of set not very positive expectations from the get-go. A negative vibe, and I guess owner thinks it's funny that customers share bad experiences? I did also feel bad for the college age kids that were ahead of us who were abruptly greeted and scolded for bringing in a coffee cup. I get it but try to be nicer about it. Our second server was new and still friendly. I had a omelette, ($19) with beef brisket, mushrooms & Swiss. It hit the spot but the side of potato home fries were burnt beyond a crisp of their life and inedible. Sourdough toast was very cold n dry like it was sitting a while. Coffee was good. My companion had the eggs Benedict. The ham was a very thin slice and the hollandaise sauce was absolutely bland. I felt bad for the couple that arrived after us that sat there waiting about 15 minutes before getting their order taken, and it was very empty Restaurant. I did appreciate that they have a "Pay It Forward" board, so we bought a sandwich and coffee for someone in need in the future. I guess I'd recommend going up the road to Bob's diner for a lighter experience next time. They were slammed busy on Labor Day and remained friendly and welcoming to the locals and us tourists.

Two orders of Pancakes and bacon, with coffee and orange juice.

OMG, I can't believe this place. On the day we went, Christmas Day, the only thing on the menu were pancakes and bacon. I can understand a limited menu on a small holiday like this, so I guess it wasn't too big of a deal. It's what I was going to order anyway. You know the worst part of it?? They didn't even tell me the cost for this! No bill brought at all, so I left what I wanted to when I departed. All everyone was saying as I left was "Merry Christmas!," "Happy Holidays!," and even a "Happy Hanukkah!," as I walked out. In all seriousness, Luke and Lindsey have created a special place here in Pittsfield, and these "pay what you want" events are just a sliver of care they bring to everyone that visits. In addition to the restaurant, they support other local businesses with their work, and support the Clapp Park Little Sled Library. Stop in when you can, and support them. They deserve it.

    Texts from Otto's

Tried to go there at 12:30p on a Saturday in December. It was cold out. A good number of tables for 2 and spaces at the bar available. Woman at the counter tells us it will be 15 minutes and to wait either outside (Seriously?!?) or in our car (parked down the block) for a text even though no one else was waiting and there's a loveseat couch right there we could sit on to wait. (Why is it there?) Made absolutely No Sense. She acted like it did. (If you're short staffed then say you're short staffed and be apologetic about it.) I think the tattoo ink on her neck went to her brain. Won't ever be going back there. And the text that our table was ready came as we were driving away to the Colombian place on Tyler that is more reasonably priced....

    Hash browns.

Coffee was good. Everything else was bad. Hash browns were just chunks of mushy red potatoes, the special omelette were special only in the extravagant price tag. It was supposed to have caramelized onions but we had undercooked diced onions. It was supposed to have bacon, nope, and I did find one bite that had goat cheese but the rest was provolone. Took forever to get the food from the kitchen so maybe they ran out of pretty much everything that was supposed to be in the $18 special. We would have appreciated being told and given an opportunity to select something else. Our wait person was nice.

Steak & eggs with home fries and english muffin. Awesome breakfast!!

Through all of it, Lindsay was absolutely incredible. I honestly don't know how she did it. Even as the restaurant filled up, she somehow made it feel like I was her only table. My drink never got low, everything arrived quickly, and she checked in at exactly the right moments without ever making it feel rushed. She was friendly, sharp, and completely on top of everything happening around her. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants, and service like that is rare. Lindsay handled a packed room with the kind of calm, attention, and professionalism you usually only hope for. She turned an ordinary meal into one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. District Bar and Grill is lucky to have her. Lindsay set the bar so high that most restaurants don't even come close

Unfortunately, the way management handles pricing and customer concerns has become very disappointing, The issue is not with all the staff. Many of them provide very good service. However, there have also been times when service at the bar has felt rushed or dismissive, particularly on weekend evenings when one bartender appears more focused on closing customers out early than allowing regulars to enjoy their meal or drinks without being tabbed out before requesting such. That kind of experience, combined with the pricing issue, makes loyal customers feel like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. The bigger issue is the repeated nickel-and-diming of regular customers. Most recently, I ordered a small pizza that was half cheese, and half mushroom, onion and sausage. I was charged the full topping price price for each of the three toppings as though the toppings had been placed on the entire pizza, even though they were only on half. On top of that, I was charged an additional fee because the other half was plain cheese-even though a cheese pizza is already base pizza. That kind of pricing is hard to justify and makes the regular customer feel like every small variation is treated as an opportunity to add another charge. When I first questioned the charge, the bartender's response was essentially "this is how it rings up in the register". That did not address the concern. a register entry does not make an unreasonable charge reasonable, and pricing can be adjusted when something clearly does not make sense. I then attempted to raise the issue with the owner and was directed to the manager. When I spoke with the manager, the response still felt defensive rather than customer-focused. I was eventually handed $2 and told, in substance, that because I was a regular customer, they did not want me to be upset. The way it was handled made it feel as though I was the one being difficult over a few dollars. That misses the point. The issue is not the $2. The issue is that regular customers should not feel like every order is an opportunity to squeeze out another charge. Regular customers notice when small charges do not seem reasonable or transparent. This was not an isolated concern. On Mother's Day, we came in expecting the regular dinner menu after being told dinner would be available. Instead, we were given a holiday menu with options selected from the regular menu at higher prices - around $7 to $8 more per entree - without anything extra included. On another visit, we were told there would be a $4 charge for extra bread, which also felt excessive. I understand restaurant's have costs, and I do not expect anything for free. But there is a difference between fair pricing and making loyal customers feel taken advantage of. When a regular customer raises a reasonable concern, it should be handled with professionalism, not defensiveness. This restaurant has good food, a great location, and some very good staff. But management's pricing practices and response to customer concerns have changed my view of this restaurant. After years of regular patronage, I walked away feeling like the loyalty of regular customers are treated like another revenue opportunity.
